Classical conditioning mechanism

Is it true that our bodies can or do release insulin at the taste of something sweet even if it's not sugar? I've been hearing that artificial sweeteners can release insulin too , so should we cut them out as well? I was thinking that if I wanted to ocassionally use a liquid sweetener (liquid is to avoid dextrose or maltodextrin or whatever it's called) that would be ok. But if it's going to produce a release of extra insulin then maybe I better wait until I'm further along on my plan.
Thank you,
Kris B.

There has been studies that suggest this. However, you must use common sense.

If you feel that it is to your benefit to completely avoid these sweetners then you should.

For practical purposes, this study provides you with onformation that you can use to your advantage.

For example, you may decide to limit your intake or you may have noticed that your current intake of these products has not effected your appetite, weight or energy levels and prefer to continue with your WOE.

We have had several discussions on this point.

A conditioned response may be the answer as to why aspertame seems to stall some people and not others. I believe that the answer may be here.......

Certainly believeable.... now only if we could get some real evidence.....

I have worked out for myself by this I mean my own responses that I cannot eat sugar alcohols at all they totally disagree with me . But SF syrups in cheesecake or icecream are not a problem.
I followed the books guidance on try something and watch for my body's reactions this allows me to eat with pleasure the sorts of foods I enjoy. I lose weight steadily this way and it's a woe I can continue indefinitely I'm not one to deprive myself I've done that in the past and been miserable and yoyo'd on low cal /low fat

I can tell you from experience this is true with me. This is one reason I have given up on Powdered Splenda, and slowly weening myself off of any other. I seem to want sweets after using them. The only thing that doesn't cause my cravings is Atkins Sugar Free Syrups or other SF syrups, including Steva,as long as they are in Liquid form.

DianaO,
That's what I was thinking (about the sweeteners being liquid). I wonder if it's not the sweeteners themselves but the dextrose and other fillers they use with the powdered ones. I know everyone is different so I think I'll test this on myself and see what happens. Thanks everyone for the responses. If anyone comes up with sience about this subject, I sure would appreciate seeing it.
Thanks,
Kris B.

I use liquid stevia. I dont find it bitter but did a bit when I first started using it, as I think i was using too much and didnt realize how potent this stuff is. AND I may have just gotten used to it too.

I try to use stevia as often as possible.
