Ketone test strips
I am not new to the atkins way of eating. I have been doing this for 11 months. The first 5 months I lost 40 pounds but since then I have stalled with absolutly no weight loss. I just came off of a 3 day fat fast that did yield a loss of 3 pounds. I want to try to figure out what I am eating that is causing me to stall. I have some ideas of what it may be but my question is about the ketone test strips. How long after eating a questionable food must I wait to test so that I can figure out if it is taking me out of ketosis?

try 30 minutes.... i think I saw that in one of my books of his when reviewing some things lately, and was surprised because I thought it was supposed to be longer and I did always wait longer. But I'm not possitive.... though I do know it's the end of the day where we're told to test stix in general to see results of the foods we've eaten, as opposed to mornings. On second thought, the 30 min may be blood testing. Someone will be along to help lol, but take it at night, that I'm sure of.

Don't put too much stock in the test strips..they are very dependant upon things like hydration level and recent exercise. You're better to eliminate potential offenders for a week or two and monitor loss..both pounds and inches

We telephoned Bayer, the maker of the keto strips we use. Talked to a technician who had specific information on this product, and asked exactly that, is it stored fat or just "dinner". Their repsonse is that is stored fat. Whether or not that is correct I can't say, it is just what Bayer told us.

BAYER
I've always called Bayer with every question I've had [though I've been using these sticks for decades and never asked WHEN to test, I just tested when I felt like and it's not usually different at various times of day, only from 'day to day' sometimes, if there are changes] anyway, every time I've gotten someone, they all have and had different answers so I got fed up and stopped calling becuase if you call 5 minutes later and DO get someone else, or the next day, it's a different opinion often.... too frustrating, but true with many companies, even when asking supervisors, which is my practice first, even THEY are sometimes surprised with what I was told. Also note that anything over 500 mg of vitamin C does effect the stix greatly. That's what my last call was about because I take over 2000, close to 3000 with the amounts in my other vitamins, which atkins told me to do, so I've just continued that way through the years because it's non-exorbant, but does effect the stix. That information I WILL feel secure because I've since checked with other sources to confirm. Make sure it doesn't total over 500 in TOTAL with all the combinations of things you're eating and the suppliments and keep that in mind when stix testing if it is. Also when drinking lots of water [which I also do] the stix come out lighter because the urine is largely diluted
