Green tea and weight loss

Hi, Thanks for being here to answer our questions.

Mine is... are there any benefits in drinking green tea. I have read that it aids with weight loss, increases metabolism and has antioxidants. Is there any truth to the claims. Thanks!

Yes, there is truth to this. However, try to keep things in perspective. You are not going to shed 10 pounds by drinking a few cups of tea.

Adding green tea as a beverage to your meals is a healthy addition to your new lifestyle.

what about green tea extract pills? I posted this a long time back in the Main Lobby but got no response so I'm hoping you can help me out.

Why extract pills? The extract is as strong as 8-10 cups of green tea, so it is much more effective. I stopped taking them when I started Atkins, but now am thinking about returning to it.

I reason that if I work out in the afternoons, and if I take the pill following lunch, my metabolism for most of the day will be constantly high instead of having a sudden metabolism surge come exercise time.

So are the extract pills recommended?

The green tea extract is a good idea. Does it contain any carbs?

Thanks for your answer, I will continue to drink it even if it just helps a little.

No carbs as far as I know. Just pure ground green tea leaves.
I'll give it a try for a week and see if it stalls or assists in weight loss. Thanks for the advice!!
