after the fat fast...
Last year I did the induction for 3 months without results. I then changed to somersizing for the last 9 months and still no weight loss. I bit the bullet and am doing the fat fast and voila! The weight is melting off. I am an avid exerciser, weights 2-3x per week and running up to 30-35 miles a week. I only have 15 pounds to lose but I am very small boned so I do not wear this well. I’ve been doing the fat fast, 1000 calories a day for 4 days and I plan on continuing for another 4 days on the fat fast 1200 calories a day. I am petrified to transition into the induction phase as I do not want to gain the weight back as I did not get any results on induction last year. Can you suggest menu wise, how I can ease into induction instead of incorporating full on all legal foods that are allowed in induction? thank you!

The fat fast was not meant to be followed for long periods of time. So, it is good that you are not planning on eating this way forever. Are you using a multivitamin and drinking at least 80-100 oz. of water? If so, you might also want to consider a fiber supplement.
Glad to hear about your exercise routine. This is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle! Congrats on your weight loss too! I have 2 suggestions: Why not try Induction as it is described by Dr. Atkins but using portion control as you are on the fast. Keep everything the same. Use small frequent meals. Breakfast, 2 eggs with some mushroom/onion mixed in Snack, have a slice of cheese Lunch small 3 oz burger and a cup of greens with a 1/2 cup of mixed salad veggies , ie tomato, broccoli, green bean snack eat a few olives dinner 4-5 oz of fish and sauteed spinach with a 1/2 cup of mixed vegetables snack 2-3 oz of chicken salad and sliced avocado If you think this is too much of a dramatic change, then my suggestion is that as you continue with the fast, start adding green leafy veggies (1 cup) at lunch and dinner. Increase the variety of protein, ie use fish and chicken and use a variety of fats, ie olive oil. So that at the end of your fast, you are having a minimum of 2 cups of salad, a variety of proteins and fats. Make sure you are supplementing this plan with the items I described above in the first paragraph. After the end of this fat fast (no longer than 1 week), you will need to increase your veggies to Induction level (3-4 cups) and increase your protein intake. If you feel more comfortable, you can always track your portions and stay between 1200-1500 cals. Keep a healthy attitude about the foods you eat as they provide the fuel for your workouts, the nutrients for energy and all body systems (brain, heart...). They key is finding the right balance. You should never be afraid of eating a healthy balanced meal of high fiber carbs, healthy fats and protein. Once this |
