Lightheaded during workoout
Thanks for all the info! Three related questions:
1)I have been getting a bit dizzy and lightheaded during cardio. My menus are 20gCarbs and 1,200-1,500 calories. I am female, 5'3, and 205. Should I up my carbs or my calories? 2) How long before working out should I have a snack to prevent this? What is the best snack? Lean protein? Fat? Veggies? 3) Or could the lightheadedness be dehydration? Thanks |

The decision to increase carbs comes when you are ready to move on to OWL. If you have been steadily losing on Induction, but are not yet ready to move on, I would first suggest eating 6 small meals rather than 3 (you didn’t state the breakdown of your meals, but if you are not already doing so, give it a try). I would also suggest spacing your 6 small meals a day so that one of them is no more than 2 hours before your workout.
Lightheadedness can definitely be a result of dehydration so it is essential that you drink adequate amounts of water throughout the day and during your workout. It is great that you are incorporating exercise into your lifestyle, sometimes it takes a few tries to figure out exactly how to coordinate your meal planning and exercise routine as everyone is individual. But once you find the pattern that will work best for you, you should not be experiencing lightheadedness any longer. Also be sure that you are not overdoing it. Is the only time you experience this during cardio? Here’s some addition info from our website about making the most of your workout. Good luck! http://atkins.com/Archive/2002/8/6-130412.html |
