Does The Atkins Diet Approve of these Items?

I know that Atkins works with Carb Countdown and TGIF's, but i have questions about other products! Such as:
*Russell Stover's Lo Carb Chocolates
*Ruby Tuesday's, especially the lo-carb cheesecake.
*MacNut oil, I know South Beach recommends this oil, but what does the Atkins Center think of it?

Plus, does Atkins actually approve of Carb Countdown Yogurt ans the menu at TGIFs and Subway? Especially the salad dressing at Subway.
Also, I looked at the ingrediants of Mayo and it looked to have sugar, is it minimal so i dont have to worry about it or do i have to try to find a different mayo. What kind would you recommend? Thanks

Re the mayo, I have a formula when buying foods. If sugar is in the top 4 ingredients, I don't buy it. I do believe sugar is not in the top 4 ingredients in mayo.

What a terrific question!

Any time you see a product that says ‘Atkins approved’, it actually was approved by Atkins Nutritionals, including Hood yogurts, Sara Lee pizzas, some Entemman’s products, the TGIF menu items, and the Subway wraps and salads.

Here is an example of the Nutrition Information for the Subway meals: http://atkins.com/Archive/2004/6/21-396150.html. You can also request the information about the other items from the other company’s websites.

When following a controlled carb lifestyle, you want to focus on whole foods. Manufactured foods can be included on occasions, but we cannot advise you on the nutrient content of products other than our own, since different companies determine Net Carbs in different ways. We list the phases that our products are appropriate for on the label. This is determined by many factors including the number of net carbs per serving and whether the product is a main dish, meal substitute, a side dish, snack, or condiment.

MacNut oil is actually central to the Hamptons Diet, not SB. It is rich in monounsaturated fats and could be included into controlled carb menu planning. But it is expensive, hard to find, and there is no scientific evidence to support the benefits that the Hamptons Diet book claims, and there are no studies that are planning to be done on it that I am aware of, as there is just no interest by the medical community in researching it.
