Thanks for the helpful advice guys! I did comfort eat, went for fauxtatoes and it was heavy enough for a meal, so feel I did pretty well!

CdnPaleoGuy will definitely be giving the bark a go! I bought some advantage bars and feel like I'm eating plastic. I think your recipe is a much better alternative!

Tiggy, did you mean the 1 minute flax muffins? I used to have them, but they're pretty high carb content (because of the fibre), oddly enough they stalled me a little, so leaving off for the time being. The cheesecake muffins I found were all oven based and mine doesn't close in the corner... the joys of student living!

Congrats MsLora and Kizz4k - you're blasting through the scales!!!!

Glad you're feeling better PrincessMommy.

Because we talking about GERD and it's sequelae of gastritis/nasty oesophageal problems, I remembered this paper I read years ago. Here's the link: A very low-carbohydrate diet improves gastroesop... [Dig Dis Sci. 2006] - PubMed - NCBI. There were a couple more I saw in the British Medical Journal and another scientific journal. Plus it's something I've experiences 1st hand! Every time I come across stuff like this or gluten intolerances, I really realise, this way of eating, LCHF is the way our bodies are designed to eat
Sorry for my little rant!

Esquala, keep going! Any loss is a loss! It must be so exciting prepping your son for uni! I'm in my final year (feels like I've spent my whole life at uni) and remember how fun it was. But I think it was hard for my mum to acclimate to a child leaving the nest!

Mountain - Hope you feel better soon! Make sure you drink lots of fluids with plenty of Sodium, Chloride and Potassium in them (a mix of salt/low salt. Spinach is goof for potassium and LC too) as that's what you'll be losing. Don't push yourself with the food - it's more important you're well!

Ok, think I have a handle on this multi quote business
Good luck with the food. Seems most of the food that gets recommended is always high in carbs: bananas, crackers, etc. Strange eh?

Yup, managed to get the dog out without a soaker. Off to the pool tonight. Ended up doing a long walk this afternoon as 'someone' wouldn't pick up the phone

Like I mentioned, recipe is pretty basic. I'm fairly certain my DW just takes cocoa powder and stirs it into melted coconut oil. She adds some nuts & lets it chill. Add whatever sweetener you like & enjoy

Nicole I totally did too (fall off the wagon). I had to eat a corn on the cob...really. I had no food choices after 7 hours...so although I wasnt gonna die I thot it best to eat that rather than a plate of pasta with dessert. :-)
But alas! My loss happened the next day.
I weighed 206 yesterday.
202
210
206
204 today...YAY~!

Morning Folks:
Nice cool nights for sleeping; gotta love it.
Wow, lots of loses this month. Bmac13, you're off to Costa Rica?
Skinnycj: yes, the walk home turned out to take an hour but we were taking it relatively easy with a few 'short' cuts that probably added distance.
Aline58: did you sister mis-read the 5:2 diet or was she desperate to shed weight?
Now corn on the cob is something I haven't had in some time. I use to love the stuff lathered in butter & salt.
We ended up eating a traditional thanksgiving meal last night. Small turkey of 8kg that I cut up. Gravy, broccoli & yes: potatoes to go with.
For whatever reason, my boys have a strong preference to real meats rather than the sliced processed stuff from the deli counter
More rain here today; will try to make the best of it. Have a great day folks.
Mountain: you any better???

I'm still here! Its been crazy and I just don't even think about weighing when I get up in the morning. School starts in a few weeks and I'm more than ready for the kids to go back. I've been doing Atkins induction for a year and a half now and its been good for the most part. But I think I'm going to start doing more of a ketogenic type diet now. I'll pretty much be eating the same but instead of just focusing on keeping my carbs low, I'll also be shooting for a certain amount of protein. I've been lurking around a fb group that goes into the science of it all. I still don't know enough to explain it but they gave me a place to start. I'm going to start shooting for about 91 g of protein a day where I think I was only doing about 60-70 a day (just a rough guess). I will come back to the boards later to catch up with everyone. Just the little bit that I read was so encouraging to see everyone doing well!

Yes, thank you for the advice. I use an electrolite “electromix” formula that I mix in my water: calcium, magnesium, manganese, chromium, and potassium. Zero carbs. I get enough sodium as it is. Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, I see you got the multiquote down perfectly!

I noticed in my research that they say there is no scientific evidence of the effectiveness of the BRAT diet. But I can say that bread hits my stomach far less painfully than eggs. I would assume that the stomach has to work harder to digest rich protein foods, so the recommended foods would naturally be high carb.

Nothing new to report still stuck at 161.0. My body is torturing me by not letting me see the 150's. I even started doing the egg fast to break this stall but I guess my body is really stubborn.

Congrats on the losses kd & bmac!

There is a tree coming down in my landlord's yard and the cherry picker is right outside my washroom window where I usually strip down to weigh :-)

Cudabear- hopefully we can get out of this weight rut! Maybe the weekend will bring lower numbers?

CJ - come sit on the 160 bench with me. You still may beat me to 159.

I eat differing amounts of carbs on different days, but never try to go over 20 - 25. Carbs are usually from dairy, vegetables, one or two itty bitty dark chocolate squares, and 1 oz of sugar free coffeemate in the morning. A few days I've gone as high as probably 40. I still stay at 160 no matter what, except for during the egg fast, when I skipped dinner because I wasn't hungry, and was down three pounds the next day.

Along with being a very slow loser, this makes me think calories, for me, make a huge difference.

Esquala- I hope to sit on that bench with you by tomorrow.

I had an early birthday day yesterday. I had an hour facial and 1 1/2 hour Swedish massage. Then we went to dinner at Black angus and I had a salty ribeye and green beans with bacon. I am sure the salt and green beans did me in because I showed a 2lb gain this morning when I was on the egg fast up until dinner. I am back on my egg fast so hoping to show a happy number on my birthday tomorrow. I was not happy with the scale today but I guess that happens when you eat out even if it is on plan. I know I can't handle veggies though because those green beans did me in. It was nice not to have to cook though. The kids had a blast and really likes it when the waiters came and sang happy birthday with a fresh baked cookie with ice cream and a candle which they ate. It smelled good but I resisted. Have a great Sunday everyone!
