Kd did--I'm sure you're right about your cells filling with water. Just keep at it, and you KNOW the weight will come off. Stinks having to wait it out, but it is what it is!

Baddabing--glad the restaurant venture was a success! I just hate eating out! Congrats on the scale moving down

Bulldog--Great job at the party! Pizza is one of my hard to resist items, too. It's only when the family is having pizza or spaghetti that I even think "gee, I wish I could eat that." So knowing there are low carb pizza options and zucchini-fake-spaghetti options out there is comforting. When I reach goal (or if one day I'm really struggling) I know I can have them. In the meantime, I'm liking what I see in the mirror more than I'm wanting to eat off plan! Frustrating about your doctor's appointment!

Skinny--if we are eating on plan, it's physically impossible to gain a pound overnight (you should hear me tell myself that when it happens to me! lol). So it's just your body adjusting. It will get there.

Kizz--you are really rockin' this month! Way to go!

I'm down a little less than a pound this morning, but am waiting to go under the .5 mark before I update my stats. HOpefully tomorrow??

what kind of club membership do you have that you can go to all these classes?
Bulldogmom: my DW had an appt & the lady was absence twice now; I hate to think what will happen tomorrow if my DW is left high & dry
Cudabear: I was reading some success stories about people with Fibromyalgia using a LCHF diet.

Off to the gym tonight followed by a few laps in the pool. Did I mention the humidity?

CdnPaleoGuy - They do have the kettelbells but I have not personally played with them. I would want to use an instructor for them to make sure I use proper technique. My gym is a resort gym that runs 3 to 4 rooms of classes from about 5a till about 8p depending on the day. They have many classes i refuse to take i.e. dancing / shaking booty kinda stuff. They have a few I am not ready for because they are geared to the athlete of which I am getting to but not there yet. I like the classes because if I think I am going to quit I have to do it in a room full of people and a rabid instructor.

Today went well. Ate on plan and did Body Pump and a decent jog for 30 mins. I almost feel like I got my legs back.

Well I messed up a little yesterday. I just started craving pickles in a major way. My dd and I almost finished up a whole jar of pickles. I even drank some of the pickle juice. Thankfully it didn't upset my stomach but I was up half a pound. Its probably water retention from all of the sodium. The rest of the pickles are calling my name but I will be strong........

Hi everyone. Sorry to be MIA for a few days. My son had his "draft party" at the cottage this past weekend. Ten 18 year old boys for two days... it was like running a restaurant! Although I did find a terrific recipe for scrambled eggs in the oven that fed them all. Made with whipping cream and butter, so I could actually eat it too if I left out the milk. Everyone loved it.

The Zoodler I have I bought on eBay and it was about $30. I had it shipped to my son's billet mom in the US to save on shipping, but it makes THE best spiral fries (sorry) for my family and zucchini noodles in 2 thicknesses for me and my DD. Actually, everyone who's eaten them likes them. I've tried it with tomato sauce and alfredo sauce, both are really good, alfredo is better, just a quick saute in butter to soften, then add HWC and parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Apparently you can do cantaloupe and stuff through it too, it would be a great presentation, so going to try that this weekend.

CPG, the Walmart steaks are the Black Angus ones. $25 for a box of 10, come with a bottle of steak spice, and are super tender. My mother thought they were better than the Ruth Chris one she had a a conference last week. They also make a sandwich steak version, 14 for $25, that DH and DS like even better. They come on sale from time to time for $20. a box.

James, your photos were amazing! Does that trolley bus thing go up and down the mountain? 'cause that's the ONLY way I'd ever be able to get up or down. Good for you on doing that, you must be in amazing shape.

I did get down to 126 for my birthday, not 125, bounced up a bit on the weekend from straying a little (I too find it boring when it's just meat, cheese and eggs, gotta make some oopsie rolls or muffins) but shooting for 125 for the end of July, and determined to do it.

Congrats to everyone who is seeing movement. Gotta run as I am determined to get the rest of my painted orders out so I can focus on catching up on my scrapbooking, finally. I think I have 10 years of hockey and family memories sitting in various organizing boxes in my craft room. I swear I could open my own Michael's store with all the supplies I have!

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all, we were surprised by the surveyor showing up at 330a in place of the usual 8a. Lucky I was not required to show up but it did throw everyone off.

I am supper soar from last nights workout which I will talk about in a few.

Today's plan is either eat on plan + 30 min jog and aqua Pilates or eat on plan + just aqua Pilates.

BulldogMom - Maybe your electrolytes are low

HockeyMum - The train is called the cog railway. The train literally has cogs that pull the train up a very steep track to the top. It is a nice ride and a huge attraction here with the tourists. But you will pay to use it. Then when you get to the top there is "surprise" a gift shop. They say they make the highest altitude doughnuts 14,000 feet which I think are just nasty. After they take your money, a few people pass out in the bathroom you get back on and they take you back down. All the people hired in the gift shop / food thing are required to be paramedics because of the amount of people that pass out due to lack of oxygen.

Pre Day one weight 178.8
7/18/2014 – 177.8
7/19/2014 - 176.2
7/20/2014 - 174.2
7/21/2014 - 172.6
7/22/2014 - 172.0
7/23/2014 - 173.2

So I was a bit shocked to say the least to see the jump when I was still in week 1 of induction. Checked the stick and found I was a shade darker than yesterday, not hungry. But then I knew I was supper soar i.e. considering pain pills this morning and I had not "dropped any kids off at the pool" for a few days even though I take fiber 2x a day so I did a little research and found this about soar muscles. I kind of knew this but I did not KNOW KNOW this.

Sore muscles after a strenuous workout is a common occurrence among so many people. They start some exercise regimen with the hope of losing weight. The initial days are full of intense workouts, driven by a motivation to lose weight. The poor person endures all the soreness in muscles and body ache, hoping to see at least a pound or two less on the weighing scale. Surprisingly, the pounds are still very much there, rather added by a couple more! This situation is bound to frustrate anyone and force them to give up their workout routine. The good news is that, the pounds that you have gained, come from water retention in muscles and nothing else. Thus, you can happily go back to working out and experience real weight loss a week or two after that.

How do Sore Muscles Retain Water?
When you workout your muscles, microscopic tears appear in muscle fibers. When you rest these muscles after a workout, muscle recovery begins. The repaired muscles are thicker and tougher than the torn muscle fibers. As a result, you see an increase in muscle mass, as well as a visible bulge on the muscles that you work out. Eventually, the muscles become toned and stronger, due to recurrent tear and repair process. However, when you start with a workout regimen, you may experience soreness in the muscles that have been worked upon, during the first few days. This soreness results from inflammation of torn muscle fibers. Another byproduct of this condition is water retention.

Therefore I am not sad about the gain in weight because I ripped them up enough to retain 1.2 pounds of water, maybe more if I lost any fat.

I rarely stop in to the local Wmart. I'll keep an eye open on the next trip or whenever I need a new cake of shaving cream
Baddabing: there are lots of good to very good videos on youtube but nothing beats one on one. Strange that there's no place around you were their doing KBs.
Bulldogmom: I'll do the same thing after a hot humid day out walking. I'm not sure if the pickle juice actually helps prevent cramps or not.

CPG, no I'm not lactose intolerant, I just don't drink milk because of the carbs, I now use Almond Milk thanks to Bonny-Jean or Mother Goose, I forget which one suggested it, but didn't want to put it in the eggs....

There are several different "noodlers" around, someone here on LCF said the "zoodler" was the best made one and very sturdy. I read writeups and paid a little more for this one but it's holding up well.

And it's worth the trip to Walmart for the steaks. I find the price of steaks in Ontario unbelievably high, and these are such a good value.

Mountain, you're doing so great. I find less than 10 carbs works so well for me too.

Ugh. Wish I had been MIA due to planning my vacation. But, instead, I have severe bronchitis, sinus infection AND strep. I would love to say that I am sticking to plan, but that just isn't the case. I have had 2 shots and 5 prescriptions. 2 of the scripts are liquid syrups. I am spending 98% of my time on the couch, and get dizzy every time I stand up. My lungs are so congested that I am just getting very little air. The only bright note is that I can't smell or taste anything, so I am eating very little period. I will say the carbs help absorb some of the nauseating drainage, and keep the pills from making me sick to my stomach. I'm sure the scale will make me pay either way. At this point, I'm just to ill to care.

Baddabing- I am taking Royal Caribbean out of Galveston to Cozumel, Mexico, Georgtown, Grand Cayman, and Falmouth, Jamaica. I would love any advice you have to offer. Thanks.

Woohoo, 2 lbs down. A big part of that is probably from what I gained when I went on the pickle binge. I'm not sure what the pickle mess was about. Thankfully no more cravings.

Nice drops everyone! KUTGW! We're almost through July already!

betterthanever, Thanks for the support! Pizza is a huge weakness of mine. I'm glad other people have done the hard work in coming up with some good low carb alternatives.

kizz, You've done really well this month! Congrats on surpassing your goal!

James, I love your sense of humor. My egg drop soup would turn into boiled eggs too if I tried. Keep posting your workouts, I break a sweat just reading about them. LOL When I keep my exercises on the less strenuous side, I seem to notice losses. If I go hard core, I will see a gain. I know its from my muscles repairing themselves but I think this is why some people get discouraged and quit working out. Bottom line though you know the water weight will disappear in a couple of days. In the meantime, you are turning yourself into a lean mean fighting machine!

skinny, Every loss no matter how small is worth celebrating. It all adds up to something big. You're doing great!

CdnPaleoGuy, I hope your dw's appointment didn't get canceled again. I would be stealing some of their office pens if they kept canceling on me.

bmac, Welcome back to onederland! The gate to twotooterville is officially closed to you now. KUTGW!

Cudabear, Nice drop! I hope you had a great dinner!

HockeyMum, Thanks for the info about the steaks! I might just have to go check them out. Sounds like you are having a busy but fun time. Glad you stop in and let us know you're doing okay.

kyliesmom, Welcome! Glad to see you here!

mountain, Same old same old is the secret to some of the long time losers here. You're doing great!

Ellen, I hope you had a great time while you were away. Great job on sticking to plan!

kd, I hope you feel better! Stay on plan the best you can but when you're sick, you just do what you have to do.

Bulldog Mom - thanks! I have actually dropped a couple of lbs., but I'm sure the few carbs I have eaten will catch up with me in a couple of days. Do you think the pickle craving was possibly a sodium deficiency? That was the first thing that came to mind. I try to take a sip of pickle juice daily to make sure I get my sodium. Ketosis seems to flush it right out of me.

bmac13 - thanks! Congrats on hitting Onederland!!! I know it fought you a little, but way to stick it out!

I had a good thing happen today...we are in the middle of building a house and as we are the general contractor...I have been frequenting Lowes a lot. Had to go and pick up the deck ballasters that we will be using and I asked the woman behind the desk if they had any more in the back...we went and looked...this woman is one of our main contacts at the pro desk...I then asked her what the status was on the A/C bid...she looked at me and asked me what my name was...I said S*****n....she looked at me wide eyed ...."I didn't even recognize you....you look so different... you lost weight!" I smiled and said yes...she said "you look great"

That was much better than seeing any number on the scale!! LOL of which I forgot to do this morning.

Last night I went with the jog / Pilates option. Jog was slower that yesterday but felt strong. 90% of my soreness has dissipated. I think the fact that the pool was bath water warm helped.
Hopefully our guests will see fit to get out today. I am over this already. It affects my ability to get people to come into work.

If I can leave normal hours tonight I will be doing Body Pump and eating on plan. I have that metallic taste in my mouth. I bet if I could have seen straight this morning I would have seen a dark color on the stick. Had problems making my brain stop last night.

As of lunch I will be out of food. I will need to go shopping. Either someone has been sneaking my food when I am not looking or I just ate it all way faster than I had planned.

Pre Day one weight 178.8
7/18/2014 – 177.8
7/19/2014 - 176.2
7/20/2014 - 174.2
7/21/2014 - 172.6
7/22/2014 - 172.0
7/23/2014 - 173.2
7/24/2014 – 172.8

Kd did – I Personally think RC has the better food compared to Carnival. Out of the ports you listed I have only been to Cozumel. I LOVED Cozumel. The beach still had a lot of corral from a Typhon so it was a bit painful to walk on. I heard the diving is amazing. If you decide to shop there for every store there is at least 4 stores that sell the exact same stuff so use them against each other, even though I suspect they are all owned by the same person. If you’re a history person. They have really cool ruins you can go to. And also I did a horse ride on the beach thing there that I liked. Even though I had the laziest horse ever known to man, or woman.

Good morning everyone!

HockeyMum, BulldogMom - thanks very much for the encouragement.

Kd_did - last time I got ill I lost a few pounds. If I had been on low carb I might have kept them off afterwards. Don’t worry and get better!

1 - 188.5
7 - 187.0
14 - 186.5
21 - 184.5
22 - 184.0
23 - 184.0
24 - 184.0

The shorts that fit too tightly a couple months ago are now so large they fall off without a belt. Will have to rummage through my stuff and see if I can find some smaller, older clothes.

24 July

Evening All:

EJW55: wasn't that a great compliment; the clerk didn't even recognize you
HockeyMum: I mentioned the steaks to my DW & she is uber suspicious of anything from W@lmart. Especially meat. No idea why
And I remember the almond milk discussion too; think it was Bonny Jean who may have mentioned it. My DW has been using it for the same reasons so perhaps it was me
BulldogMom: finally the appt went off without a hitch. And my DW is too honest to take any of the pens that are out for clients to take.
KD DID: we don't seem to get them anymore but salty broth, chicken soup, more vitamin D & C should help speed up recovery.
BMAC13; didn't you get one of those zoodler too? On the rare occasions when we make spaghetti sauce, I just use the peeler on the zucchini. But that zoodler gadget looks interesting
Mountain: isn't it great when the clothes start to feel looser? I've noticed as well with my dress shorts. And my belt at work needed tightening again.
Baddabing: so which of those classes do you find has the best bang for the buck? I've heard great things about body pump; don't think they have it offered here at the local Y.
I ended up doing c25k on the treadmill & then hit the pool for a few easy laps.
Have a good evening folks........

Evening all. I did not go to the gym. The surveyors kept us late but since it was for the exit discussion I was cool with it. We ended up with 9 potential tags. We are all happy with it. Tomorrow I should be able to actually get people to work, bunch of sissy's!

Anyway, almost starved but I stayed on plan.

CdnPaleoGuy - My biggest bang for my buck would be CX Works. Its all core which most people, including myself, skip during weights. I can feel muscles in my back, shoulder, abs and obliques, that I can honestly say I had never felt. Plus its 30 minutes of intense no dilly dally working out. Yet want to roll over and die when your done.
