CdnPaleo – Thanks for looking into that! Yes you are correct that it’s an auto immune disease (actually this is auto immune disease #2 for me.. So totally winning this category) But you might have a very valid point.. I’ve let my grains creep back into my lifestyle as of late, and my issues have gotten progressively worse since January.. Maybe its time to make a big change – Appreciate the insight.
And No!! No ET Highway, No Neon Museum, only 1 show.. We drank a bit.. maybe that’s where all the time went?!!?!!

Kimber: Enjoy your layover!! I think Vegas attracts the very best people for watching!  (that may have come out creepy…..)

Have a great weekend all!

My endo appointment is on Monday. I'm a little nervous about meeting this guy since he's probably my last hope for getting on the metformin. But if you go by my weight at the doctor's office on Monday and my weight this morning, I've lost about 8 lbs. The only thing I've done differently is to add metformin with my meals that had carbs (from veggies). My diet or how/when I eat hasn't changed. I'm hoping this is proof enough that I should at least be given a chance to try the metformin another month.

Kimber, bmac, Kizz - the incredible shrinking women!

Thank you mountain, and congrats on your loss yesterday

Tom showed up yesterday, so that explains my stall I guess. I'm still eating strictly meat and eggs but find when I know that's the only choice, I don't bother eating much at all....I'm kind of over eggs and chicken to be honest with you, but I'm sticking to it and am in deep ketosis.

Yesterday's menu:

B: four eggs fried in coconut oil

L:two chicken thighs

D: one fried tilapia fillet

better, Seven pounds is awesome and this month isn't even over yet! Great job!

CdnPaleoGuy, I started out doing DANDR (92 version). I never saw where there was a protein amount to aim for or a limit. I mostly felt that Dr.Atkins wanted you to focus on keeping your carb limit to less than 20 g a day and that was from veggies. I've since evolved a little but not much. I don't know how many carbs I eat a day, I just limit them to one meal and its either at breakfast or lunch. My veggie amount regardless of what it is, is always about 1 - 1 1/2 cups. I really try and keep it simple. But I don't think there is a specific thread for DANDR 92 folks. I think there is a board for the newest Atkins approach but the newest plan was the one that allowed the shakes and bars.

Shelly, Awesome job on the loss!

Skinny, If its TOM, I wouldn't even get on the scale until its over. I used to see a jump from 2-6 lbs in a matter of days because of my dang hormones.

Kimber, I have bad knees too. I had to cut back on my running routine because they got to the point of making crackling noises every time I moved them. My doctor suggested glucosamine but I keep forgetting to take it.

bmac, Your scale really is trying to torture you! Any chance you can go back to the doctor's office and steal theirs? LOL No worries, you'll be in onederland tomorrow.

Cuda, My cousin has fibromyalgia and I've been trying to get her onto low carb. Hopefully something as simple as cutting out wheat can bring you a lot of relief.

Ashley, Great job! I always felt the only good thing about TOM is when he left and took all of that water weight with him.

Kizz, Your menu sounds great! Hopefully TOM will quickly leave and you can get back to seeing that scale move. But you know regardless of what the scale is saying right now, you are losing fat. Great job!

Morning ya'll! Scale stayed the same this morning. I figure its sodium again. Had steak fajitas last night out for DH B-day. No tortillas or rice or beans, server looked at me crazy when I told him I didn't need the tortillas. Lol.
we're trying to get my DD who's 13 on gluten free as much as humanly possible. She's got a Lot of signs/symptoms of a gluten senstivity so we're changing how she eats. We've tried before and she gave us quick. Plus my MIL kept sabatoging it! Grrr bless her heart she just refused to listen. So i'm Praying we can make it work this time! Plus she gets her braces monday.

Morning all, Ate on track and did my intended workout. I added a brisk walk with a ten minute jog in hopes of burning out some of the carbs in me. I am still not 100% from the hike so the walk run felt very odd.

Today I am going to focus on the eating. No gym today or this weekend. Hopefully by Monday I will feel better. Should have a short day at work due to have to work more than usual mon – wed.

CdnPaleoGuy – I have not had to use any of the water pills since I bought those years ago. I just figured if it came down to it. I would rather have that option then not. As we all learned from Naked and Afraid. You got to have that water and if you don’t use precautions! To the hospital you go.

Pre Day one weight 178.8
7/18/2014 – 177.8

Hello everyone I hope you all have a good day today and have a great weekend!

Ashley- good to hear your TOM water weight is gone. This is my first TOM with this new WOE so I didn't realize I could show two pound gain on the scale while on TOM. Yeah for being back down.

Bulldog-thanks for the advice I just skipped the scale today and like you suggested will wait it out to weigh in again. I hope your endo appointment goes well and they give you the needed meds. Will cross my fingers for you.

Kizz- I know what you mean about no wanting to eat when your options are meat or eggs. I felt like that yesterday. TOM stinks look like a few of us are all on it. Like everyone has told me the scale should move once AF is gone. I can't wait for AF to be gone to I can get on the scale again and hopefully see a loss.

Princess- no loss but no gain is good. Yeah must be the sodium. I remember having braces that is going to be painful the first day for your daughter. That stinks about your daughter having a gluten intolerance. Hopefully you can get her diet changed gradually and see if it makes a difference. I hate when other think they know what's best for your kids.maybe once your MIL sees how much better your daughter feels she will get it.

Badda- yeah for a short work day! Hope you rest up to get back to it by Monday. I know sometimes you just need a break just listen to your body. I worked out hard for three days and was suppose to do another run yesterday but didn't because my knee was hurting GAO I rested so I can get back to it today.

BulldogMum: no worries; we like veggies as well as salad so DANDR is a natural fit. Good luck with the Dr's appt Monday
Baddabing: those pills I'm referring to was many moons ago. If I were to head off into an area with questionable water, I would take a purification straw/kit. Haven't seen the series your referring to, am I missing a great show?
Cudabear: my DW goes to an allergist & he told her to give something 6 weeks & check for changes. Can you go 6 weeks w/o any gluten to see if that might be your problem source?
Princessmommy: too bad you didn't snap a pic of the waiter/waitresses face when you told them that
Braces = $$$$ ...good luck getting your DD off the gluten!
Looks to be a great weekend weather wise here; hope it's the same for the rest of you

After two days of grabbing hot dogs, summer sausage, and cheese for meals because I was too busy to stop and fix anything, I've decided I really need to have more stuff in the frig, ready to grab. Besides boiled eggs, what are your suggestions? We're heading to an outdoor picnic/concert tonight, and all I can think to bring is deviled eggs and diet coke. Blah!!

CdnPaleoGuy - If you think two random naked people dropped off in the middle of nowhere where they are forced to survive for three weeks with one item each (usually fire starter and machete) then YES it is a good show.

Just a test. Trying to link an album of my hike. If things look blue that is just how everything looks when the air is thin.

Oh, no problem. It is easy to get that horrified look anytime you want. All you have to do is walk into Denny's and order their Build Your Own Breakfast with scrambled eggs, two servings of turkey bacon, and turkey sausage. This always shocks the server: What! No potatoes? No toast? No pancakes? Poor dear, you will starve!

Baddabing - Looks like an awesome hike. You're way out of my league at this point. I would love to be fit enough to think about climbing that high. Well done!

skinnycj: Yeah, it does suck. Im hoping for a loss once its gone too, I haven't really been eating much due to lack of appetite and like you said, the meat/egg options not getting me super amp'd for meal time...lol

Bulldogmom: Thanks! I am losing fat! I have to remember that, because you are right, I can feel it in my clothes and my tummy is getting little again

Badabing: What series is this? You said naked and middle of nowhere trying to survive and now I am curious... It sounds like a great show! Also way to go on another great loss

Betterthenever: I always fry up a bunch of chicken wings or legs/thighs and salt/pepper them heavily and keep them in the fridge for snacking...also egg drop soup has been my favorite snack lately, its warm and filling

Ashley2hawaii: Way to go!! Thats huge!

Mountain-Congrats on your loss today

cudabear: I feel your pain, it will happen soon, dont lose hope, we're pulling for ya!

bmac13: My scales seem to do the same, but just remember what the dr scales said the other day, and WITH clothes on!!! Awesome!

Todays menu, Im afraid is not very exciting. My evil fridge decided to have a snow day last night while I was sleeping and two dozen of my beautiful deviled eggs are solid ice
I like to snack around on those during the day when Im not eating a ton, soooooo there goes that...lol

mountain: I get that look all the time when I pass on the bread & ask for an extra egg etc. Sooner or later the service industry will catch on.
Baddabing: did a quick youtube search & saw bits & pieces of episodes. Interesting......
Princessmommy: hopefully the calf has a better life that the ones I see near some farms around the area. The ones I see are chained to these little igloo type shelters. I'm guessing their breed for veal

Off to the pool this afternoon for some laps. Have a good day folks.

Omg Cdn that's Horrible! That makes me So sad for those calves. My Aunt-Uncle raise cattle but not for big corp just to raise and sell.

Thanks Skinny! She's had symptoms for awhile about gluten problems. Constipation, "chicken skin" on her arms and legs, etc.. So we're hoping and Praying this will help her,

Shelly, Family can be our worst enemies sometimes without even realizing what they're doing. My aunt is always telling me I should cut back on the kids' sugar intake and meanwhile, she has a whole cabinet full of sugary treats just for them. I bet your dd will feel amazing once she cuts out the gluten but its hard getting kids on board. It seems all of the food companies advertise their junk with our kids in mind.

CdnPaleoGuy, The pics are amazing! And unfortunately, yes, the calves that are chained to the little igloos are for veal. When I lived in the country, we used to see a lot of these poor guys chained up.

mountain, When I'm in my groove, it takes me 2-3 days to see a whole pound gone. But a loss is a loss no matter the rate. Great job!

James, I have seen that show. All I can say is that I'm glad its those people running around naked and not me. I'm not sure what is worse, having to be naked or having to forage for your own food. I surely wouldn't last one day.

We have a busy weekend. I have a kid's birthday/pool party tomorrow and I'm trying to plan my own food. I'll bring a cooler of things I can eat. I don't believe anyone will mind or if they do, they'll get over it. I tried my first bulletproof coffee today and actually liked it. It didn't fill me up like some people claim though.

Hi everyone, sorry for the late joining. Been so discouraged with the scale - its gone up at tom and never came down - I'm basically back to my Sept weight and jave no clue what is going on.

Just a quickie as running around and haven't quite finished reading whats been happening!

But just a couple things I read

Cudabear - have a look at the works of David C Lowe, he writes about fibromyalgia being just another manifestation of hypothyroid. You mention you already have one autoimmune so it might fit in with your other? He prescribed (unfortunately he died) dessicated thyroid in higher doses to treat the fibro symptoms. Its just an idea. I was told I had fibro but after two years on dessicated, my symptoms have improved hugely. Something else you might want to look at - Ehlers Danlos syndrome as many are mis-diagnosed with fibro when in fact they have EDS which is a problem with the body's collagen.

Bulldog, good luck with the new dr. I was on Met for 10yrs and can honestly say am so glad to be off it and the bcp. They screwed up my adrenals badly. I think I just managed to escape liver damage. Met will also give you pernicious anemia because it blocks the absorbtion of B12. Hope he listens and tests you properly for thyroid and all your hormones to find out what is really going on. If he fails, don't give up hope, find a naturopath doc as they are much more holistic and will look at everything in your life/health.

Princess, nice to have you back!

Sally, hope all is okay in Canada.

Hockeymom, did you wear your new dress for your birthday? How was your celebration?

Badda, watching naked hunter gatherers? Was that on the XXXPaleo channel??? BodyPump - how you liking that? I used to teach it back in releases 28-33!

Anyway, must head off, apologies to everyone I have not included, promise to catch up in the next few days as will be laid up once I have some more foot surgery next week.

Take care and hope its nice and hot wherever you are!

Hi all,
I have been away posting for a while but lurked in from time to time.
I was wondering where Princessmommy had gone to, I am glad that you are back. Over the past 2 months I have been a bad girl and ate some carbs and gained 5 lbs.
My husband's nephew came to live with us from Italy and I changed my whole way of cooking, more pasta, bread, pizza etc. So last Sunday I made my last pasta dish and told him that if he wanted pasta he would have to make it himself. Being a nice aunt I still make him some form of a pasta dish but only enough for him and my hubby. My mom was hospitalized for 3 weeks and hospital food also did not agree with me. She is 92 and does not speak English nor French so needed to be at the hospital around the clock. She is home now with me until Tuesday and she eats like a do with a bit of bread for her.
Unhappy to report that I was 147.9 on Monday morning andhappy that I am down to 143.0 today. So hopefully I will be on the road down again.

Tiggy - I like body pump. I am using it as the next step to getting to the athletic training classes that are bit out of my reach as of now. Getting the proper weights is a challenge though. I either go to big or to light.

ejw55 - I bought half a cow a few times when I lived in the middle of nowhere. I found a rancher that grass feed her cattle and went in with another person. She delivered it to the butcher. I told the butcher what cuts I wanted and how to mix the ground, picked it up, and grazed for a few months on meat. BTW have a truck or van, its more meat that you will expect.

Romy - I found that most "from Italy" Italians don't really do the pasta thing. They are more of a seafood kind of thing.
