Thanks CPG and bmac and Kimber for the birthday wishes. The kids did a great job, with steaks (walmart's Angus $25 for 10 are amazing) mushrooms, veggies, salad, zucchini alfredo (gee, I think they actually pay attention to what I eat!) Went off plan with the cake my Mom brought, but will be back on plan tomorrow.....

Have a great evening everyone, and Princess Mommy, don't give up, you've faced a lot of challenges lately and you will be back on track soon!

I refuse to change my stats. Its a constant reminder of where I was and a goal to get back there. Everything that you mentioned can definitely hinder your weight loss efforts. It takes a strong person to continue on even though the odds are stacked against you. You are still doing great things for your body even though the scale doesn't want to cooperate. Great job!

Bmac.... such amazing results, keep it up!

Kimber, yup, you'll hit your goal

Bulldog Mom, Skinny CJ and Shelly, thanks for the good wishes, and yes, dinner was delicious! I laughed when my mom asked if it was okay to put a lot of butter in the mushrooms.... she still doesn't understand low carb.... she's not overweight but always asks how I stay so slim eating this kind of stuff. She loved the zucchini alfredo (made it with my Zoodler --- the 2nd best thing I disovered on LCF next to unsweetened almond milk!)

Have a great day everyone, I was up 2 pounds this morning but the wine and the cake were the reason. Back on track today. Went to Costco yesterday for stuff for the kids so have to stay away from the 18 pack of chocolate bars..... I know it's bad but they both work out so hard and they have the same chocolate addiction I do..... I don't buy it very often!

So you have to fill me in on this Zoodler...what is it and where do I get it? Does it really work good for making noodles? I sooo want a noodle substitute. Not because I miss the noodles that much, but I miss having something to put the topping on and love the pasta sauces, especially alfredo!

I have a vegetti that I got from walgreen's. It allows you to take something like zucchini and turn it into strips that resemble fettucini. People have found some on amazon as well.

Great job on your losses! Our stats are pretty similar. I'm currently bouncing all around in the 190s.

Does everyone have that one family member you just want to smack on the forehead? My extended family has been saying for a while that they want to cut out the sugar. I told them when they get serious, I'll help them out with some recipes. My extended family includes an aunt and uncle in their late 70s and their daughter who has moved in with them because she can't afford to live on her own. Yesterday my cousin, the daughter, came back from Krispy Kreme and preceded to tell my aunt that its her fault that she has been eating so much sugar because my aunt brings the sweets into the house. There isn't a lot of sweets in the house which is why my cousin has to go out and get them. So I'm not sure they are ready for my help.

Morning all, been out for a bit. The climb jacked me up big time. I should have been training on the incline because as it turns out there is no exercise in the gym that simulates walking down a steep incline for 13 miles. I almost did not make it. My 10 hour hike took 16. It only took 7 hours to get up the hill the rest was trying not to loose my legs coming back down. Lesson learned. I also forgot about the shear amount of supper hard rocky ground that it had. I felt like my feet were going to explode. I will try to get some pics posted here soon.

Induction day one started this morning so the next three days will be awesome!(being sarcastic). We need an emoticon for sarcastic. Maybe this one? anyway.

Pre Day one weight 178.8

BullDogMom, thanks. I am in Canada so no Walgreens for me here. But I'm going to Detroit area in a couple weeks (my family lives across the river in Windsor) and I already have a list going of things to buy!! I'll definitely add it to the list to pick up.

I totally understand about your cousin. My MIL is the same way-ish. She complains about her weight CONSTANTLY and has Type 2 Diabetes that she takes "oral insulin" for. But, every single time I go to her house she has 2-3 tubs of ice cream in the freezer, she eats candy like it's going out of style and thinks that potatoes are a god send! I have been doing low carb since January (hard core A '72 since May 12, 2014) and I give her all the info she asks for. Still, her skull must be really thick, because she just doesn't get that she can't eat the crap she eats and expect to control her diabetes and lose weight. Now that you can really see a difference in my weight loss she is saying things like, "well aren't you the skinny one", "why don't you help me lose weight too", "I wish I could lose weight like you".

It's like come on already, wake up!!!!!

I forgot to add my POD. Eat under 20 carbs and do body pump tonight. Yesterday was my first day back at the gym. Took many days before I could even get down the stairs so I am a bit hesitant.

MtherGoos - “I wanted to share some words of wisdom that my daughter recently gave to my niece. My niece just started a new eating plan and had a big dinner to attend and was very worried about all the food temptations. My daughter told her...... Focus on the event, not on the food. Sure enough my niece spent the evening enjoy a great time with friends and realized she didn't need food to have a great time. Oftentimes we use social situations as an excuse to go off plan, and there's no reason to. Focus on the event, not the food.” How true is that! Way to go!

bmac13 – The problem with diabetics is they 1. Have a food addiction. 2. Did not plan on changing the lifestyle before they got sick and 3. Are often coddled by medical profession with words like you might, consider, etc. It may take a serious medical situation before he / she will wake up. I have noticed that people that are on the verge are more receptive to change because they don’t want to get to the medication stage. I also know the doctor can be the difference. My BIL has it and his doctor can only be described as maybe one of those nuns on old TV shows. She is supper strict and will chew you out nine ways till Sunday if you do not comply. Find him / her one of those Docs. I have family inn Mississippi that absolutely will not change the diet because it is their life. IN return they die young and they are fine with that. Come to think of it I have family in Kentucky that is the same. Which brings me to an observation.

My mom moved to Kentucky and at their local Wal Mart which is their only clothing related store in the town has only big clothes. She has to order all her clothes online because they don't carry the small sizes.

Hello, Hello, Hello!!

Think i've missed posting here for the last couple of months (just lurking)
After a week in Vegas (3weeks ago) I am ALMOST back to where I was.. Back at it and ready to get serious again.

July Week 1: 153.5 (-.5lb)
July Week 2:155 (+1.5lb)
July 12: 157.5
July 13: 158
July 14: 157
July 15: 154.5
July 16: 155.5
July 17: 152.5

Bulldog - So sorry you are still going through all the crap with the Doctors.. I was thinking of you recently and was hoping you might have gotten some help.
I think I FINALLY have gotten some answers for myself. Dr gave me an 'unconfirmed' diagnoses of Fibromyalgia. No more heavy workouts or 'over doing it' for the remainder of my life.. Guess an answer is an answer and I should at least be happy someone doesn't think it's all in my head, but still.. serious Boo…
Really hope they can get you into the specialist soon!

Kemp – Welcome back!

Everyone – Following your journeys.. Some major accomplishments!!! Huge congrats to everyone!

Good morning everyone!

Baddabing - that is one hell of a hike you did. I know how it is; walking up sounds like the hard part, and then walking down turns out to be murder. 13 miles - gads!

Kimber, bmac, Kizz - the incredible shrinking women!

7 - 187.0
14 - 186.5
15 - 186.5
16 - 185.5

James, I might sound insane, but I always loved when I pushed myself to the point where I could barely walk. I don't do it often because it takes a lot of motivation to want to do some hard core workouts. But I bet you had a great time. Have fun over the next 3 days, we'll help get you through it. That's crazy about the clothing store. If I were smaller, I would shop there just so I could say "damn, everything is too big". I used to have the opposite problem of everything being too small.

bmac, I don't think you'll regret getting the vegetti. Its so easy to use. I just have to find a better way to cook my zucchini since they seem to get too mushy on me.

cudabear, I'm so glad you got some answers. I'm heading to the endocrinologist on Monday. Fingers crossed that he is receptive to this woe. He is a fairly new doctor and it looks like most of his schooling was done in India with some of his residency done here in the states. I'm hoping foreigners haven't embraced the low fat lifestyle like the Americans.

Cudabear - What does one do for a whole week in Vegas. I think after 3 days tops I am ready to be home.

BulldogMom - I would agree with you if....... The sun was not setting and did not plan on staying the night in the mountains. And did not have a dead phone so wife would have sent up the Calvary. She said she was 30 minutes from doing that when I finally got a text through that I made it back.

Baddabing - That's what I said when we booked it, but I was not even close to ready to come home, and didn't do half the things I wanted to. We arn't big gamblers so we just did a lot of people watching and walking around.. Honestly I can't really tell you what we actually did there, but we had a blast!

Kimber, bmac, Kizz - the incredible shrinking women!

Wow--you gals are on track to lose 20 lbs in one month!!Woohoo!

Bmac--I saw the Veggetti at Walmart, too. They cost $15. I bought one...tried stir-frying the shredded zucchini and also boiling it. Frying, they keep their stiff texture more. Boiling them (just for a couple minutes)...I thought I was eating pasta! I've only tried it once, mostly because I'm watching to be sure the alfredo sauce doesn't stall me, but I think this will be a regular once I am eating veggies more often!

I'm down 7 lbs this month!

Vegetti

All this talk of zoodles & vegetti, I had to google for images. On the rare occasion when we have a craving for pasta, I just use the standard potato peeler & get strips off the zucchini. The vegetti looks interesting.
HockeyMum: steaks from Walmart? I've had the ones from Costco (which are great) but never Walmart. We're they really good?
Bmac13: Dr's scale always wins; right?
Baddabing: 13 hrs worth of hiking? We're you trying to dehydrate out there on the trails? I'm guessing that they were well maintained/travelled trails?
Cudabear: I think my DW mentioned that Fibromyalgia was mentioned in "grain brain". I'll ask her when she gets in. So, you went to Vegas & didn't gamble? Did you do the ET highway?
BulldogMom: my sisters gasp in horror every time we visit & ask for butter. We've learned not to bother talking diet/food with them as it goes in one ear & out the other
Princessmommy: you gotta live; don't knock yourself so hard. Not ballooning after giving up smoking is a major accomplishment. Are you using a tracker; is there a chance that there might be a little carb creep going on?
Still haven't found a thread for DANDR, haven't looked too hard either. From what I can gather, he tones down the protein a touch & lets you have veggies during induction.

Cant dehydrate if you carry a camel pack. I went through 5 liters of water and have water tablets in case I needed to refill at a stream.

I HATE veggies but I will say spaghetti quash is good, no hardware just a fork and is really good with a spaghetti type sauce.

I know I shouldn't have got on the scale today it 's that TOM but I did and saw a 2lb jump. I was very annoyed. I'm sure it must be water retention bloat.

Cudabear- that sounds like what we do when we go to Vegas people watch and walk around. Glad you had a good trip.

Baddabing- I love a great workout and feeling sore lets you know you worked out well.

Princess- hope you enjoyed your fajita dinner and hubby enjoyed his birthday dinner.

Morning all:

Cudabear: I asked my DW last night for a reference about the Fibromyalgia and she didn't read it in Grain Brain. However, she did say it is an autoimmune related illness. Have you tried eliminating all wheat/diary products from your diet as an experiment?
Baddabing: ah good. I couldn't get the camelback for work for me when I friend gave me one. Guess I wasn't biting hard enough on the end
I hope the water purification tablets have improved since I used them. The type we use to have made the water taste like chlorine was added to it.
Princessmommy: how do you eat fajitas without a wrap?

So last night, I ended up waiting so long for my DS to get upstairs away from his Xbox that I had time for another KB workout. I must be getting better, HR didn't go over 131. Last time I did the same routine, it was hovering around 145!

The KB workout sounds intriguing but I'm thinking that's not for me for at least another 80lbs! My poor knees have enough trouble lugging the weight I have around! I know that eventually I am going to want to add in squats so that I can build up my butt muscles...I want to have a nice round butt!!

Princess - How was your beef fajitas? I always get the chicken fajitas when we eat Mexican. Hope your hubby had a nice birthday.

Better - You are doing fantastic this month!!

Cuda - We love to people watch too. Hubby and I have a 5 hour layover in Atlanta for our trip next month and we are OK with that because people watching in the airport is THE BEST!!

Mountain - You are doing well this month

Have a good on program day everyone!
