Hi all I am new to the site. Even though there are only a few weeks left in July I would love to join in. I started LCHF three weeks ago and am down 16lbs. My start weight was 180lbs and I am 5'3 so that is way too heavy for my frame. My goal weight is 120lbs. Felt good to get on the scale and see it moving down. I can't wait to see what my total loss will be at the end of the month.

Welcome CJ! There is a tremendous amount of support here. The more the merrier!

Rant: Apparently, today is my day to be constantly reminded to watch my labels closely. Carbs in Swanson Chicken Broth...1 per cup...which just added 8 carbs to my pot of soup. Really?!?!?! I could have added an entire extra vegetable for 8 carbs!

Thanks KD & Galveston! I love reading all the success stories and great tips everyone has. I just cooked up a packet of bacon to have on hand for quick meals. I love that the meals are so easy and really no thinking. I still have to make regular meals for the rest of my family but everyday I get motivated when I see change so resisting carbs is easier. I haven't cheated I am making sure I keep strict to the plan.

Skinnycj; congrats on the success with LCHF.

Bmac13: well that's a relief about the Keg. I was finding it hard to believe a steak would have carbs in it.
Ejw55: I'll add it to the list of movies to see out! Some movies just demand the big screen eh?
My DW mentioned the other night that we're pretty well following DANDR; is there a thread for that WOE is this the place?
Went to the gym after supper tonight; no motivation after facing a full gym so ended up going for a walk/run with the oldest. Better than nothing.
Have a good night folks.

Kizz - must be a name thing. I just pulled my ribeyes and chicken thighs off the grill! Great minds think alike. I'm afraid you have me beat though. I'm not sure I could eat 24 oz. of ribeye AND a salad. Must be the difference between 5'05" and 5'09. lol.

Thanks Cdnpaleoguy! This is by far the easiest lifestyle change. Not much to complain about and I have waves of missing dessert but for the most part I don't crave the carbs which is so weird, not what I expected. At least you got a walk in it's something. That's what my plan is for tonight I walk 3.5 miles after I get my kids to bed.

Whew, glad to hear about the Keg steaks....a little too late however. Tomorrow's my birthday and we were going to go to the Keg, my favourite, but after reading that I changed my mind. Now the kids have planned to cook steaks, asparagus and salad for me here at home. Damn. I LOVE the Keg. Oh well. I'll have to wait until our anniversary in September....

Being good today, stocked the fridge with lots of meat, cheese, cream, salad, and my favourite Almond Milk, unsweetened, which makes my tea in the morning so much more enjoyable for less than 1 carb.

Have a great evening everyone, and welcome to the new/returning folks.

Ha!Ha! I picked at that salad, Kendra! I mostly ate the bacon pieces and egg out of it. But I ate that steak like a wild animal, I am not ashamed! I love Texas Roadhouse! I was soooooooop hungry after eating just one measley chicken thigh this morning

Yep...the alarm is going to go off in half an hour, and I have yet to fall asleep. And, it's my Monday. 10 hour shift.

I would love to blame the low carb energy that so many people get. Truth is, my husband suggested we take a cruise on our vacation in September. He had this revelation right before bedtime. My husband hates to travel, and hates water. Guess who is jumping on this before he has a chance to change his mind. Yup. This girl...

Only I could get a travel agent on the phone at 10:30 at night.

Gonna be a loooooong day, folks!!!

HockeyMum! So, are you going out to celebrate or staying home?
Skinnycj: the fat does an amazing job of keeping you full. The closest thing to dessert that we have is berries with hwc. And on very rare occasions, hwc with cocoa; can't remember what it's called
KD Did: you posted at 03:40am? I use to have the same sort of trouble back when I was working rotating shifts; always thought I would sleep thru for day shifts so got really lousy sleep. Thankfully, those days are gone.

Kizz - Did you actually eat all 24oz of that Ribeye?! Impressive! I can only ever get about 12 oz down at a time!

Hope the scale is good to everyone today!

Sorry HockeyMum! Hopefully the kids still cook a good meal for your birthday. I am so happy to have this info now. I LOVE the Keg and it is my go-to place for special dinners(and everyday lunches as there is one in my building).

Up 0.4# on the scale today, but I go through this little yo-yo thing once a month so I guess it's here. Hopefully it starts to move down again soon. I want onederland!!

CdnPaleoGuy - I do work day shift (5am-3pm), but that means getting up at 3 am to get ready and get to work by 5. I worked night shift for over a decade, so I thought going to days would be a breeze. Then I realized that most people don't get up at 3 am. lol. I actually posted that at 2:40 am.

Thank you, sweet baby Jesus, I was able to get the day off today. I was lucky that a co-worker was working a day she normally doesn't. I finally fell asleep about 6am, only to wake back up at 8am. Now, I am just hanging around the house like a zombie. I'm afraid to go back to sleep for fear I won't sleep tonight. I don't see how people with insomnia function. Thankfully, I only have this problem about one night a year!

princessmommy: I'm sure at 163 your exaggerating a bit. I would post a link to a Sir Mix a lot song to cheer you up but I don't want to get into trouble
EJW55: I'll go over for a look around; don't think there's a specific thread for DANDR
KD Did: I think the day shift was the worst for getting up. Afternoons weren't much better as you would be waking up with the kids then heading into work with nothing done. Thankfully, those days are over!
Bmac13: I'll have to open my eyes next time I'm driving; haven't noticed any Keg in the neighbourhood
I'm hoping to get the boy out to the pool tonight for a few laps. Time will tell. Off to swing the KBs. Have a good evening folks.

I totally understand where you're coming from I am about the same as you I am 164lbs right now but I am disgusted when I can't fit into my clothes the way I know I should. Hope your scale starts moving.

I refuse to buy myself any clothes until I hit my goal. It will be nice when I can fit my old nice jeans I saved. I still have a pair if size 1/2 which is when I was at my thinnest that is my hope to get in those but honestly I would be happy getting in my size 5 jeans. I pushed myself and ran 3.3 miles last night. Then I exercised again this morning. I am determined to keep shedding the fat. I really want to be close to goal by my husbands work. Grist mad party in early December. I figure six months I should be able to shed 40 pounds as long as I keep up the exercise and stay on plan.

Welcome Skinny! You're doing great!

CdnPaleoGuy, I think I started out doing DANDR.....whatever '92 version is. This thread here seems to be a hodge podge of all the different versions.

Congrats to those losing! For everyone seeing some fluctuations, hang in there!

In my battle with the doctors, all I've asked is the chance to try metformin again. I've been on it previously for a couple of years each time I tried getting pregnant. It just so happened that I have about 2 months worth of the metformin left. I started taking it Monday without changing anything about my eating and I'm down between 4-5 lbs. All that I can do is hope that the endo will make the connection and let me continue on with the metformin.
