Hmm, I'm pretty sure in the catalogue it actually says elephant ear but the scientific name is Colocasia, yes.

Maybe email them so you're getting exactly that! They reply very quickly.
A nursery passed off Ligularia once for Elephant Ear to my mom. Uh, not even close!!

I am definitely touched in the head!

I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things today and they were totally out of coconut oil! I do still have a few days worth, they had better have it back in stock when I go to get groceries for the kids while we're away!

Breakfast today: 3 eggs poached in butter, 6 strips of thick-cut bacon
Lunch: big grilled chicken breast, dill pickle, 2 hard-boiled egg whites
Dinner is going to be: 1/2 lb grilled hamburger patty with extra sharp cheddar

On a side note, my husband left for a week trip to Iceland. I know, I know, Iceland. Don't ask. I really don't know why he chose Iceland off of the map of the entire world. His plane just landed and I just realized that he forgot his entire bag of toiletries on the dining room table. I hope they have gas-permeable contact lens solution in Iceland!

Lilac, Iceland would be a dream vaca. for me!
Gypsy, glad to hear about your DH recovery. My MIL had the same thing at the same age...she's 60 now. Has tons of stamina, but does have short term memory probs. Scary how it can happen so young.
Hockey.... Thanks for suggesting to bada about the malware remover. DLed it and it caught some funky stuff!

Rainy day here in KS. My DD talked me into playing tennis in it. Guess its true what they say about sense.

Bonny, I don't like cooked egg yolks. Even omelettes are a stretch for me, I prefer mostly egg-white then. I love love LOVE fried and poached eggs. One of my favorite meals is a hamburger patty with a fried egg on top.

I'm drinking water, had a cup of plain black coffee in the morning and plain black iced coffee in the afternoon. Other than that... I drink at least 2 fills of my liter water bottle each day. Sometimes I'll have a cup of Smooth Move tea before bed.

Btw Bonny and HockeyMum -

This year I was FINALLY able to get 3 roots of Stuttgart canna. I don't normally like cannas but Stuttgart you grow for the beautiful variegated leaves in moist part-shade. Most mail-order nurseries sell out of this quickly. I've had them planted for a month and they've done NOTHING. So sad about that.

HockeyMum - I enjoy hockey and am one of the FEW here in Chicago who actually root AGAINST the Blackhawks. While my favorite team is the Detroit Redwings, once they were out of the Cup playoffs (as well as my 2nd favorite team the Bruins), I found myself rooting for the Habs. Was furious when they were ousted too. Thankfully, so were the Blackhawks FINALLY. Blackhawks fans are RUDE.

Hmm, I'll have to check that one out! My favourite is a bronze leaf King Humbert Canna. This one loves full sun and easy to grow.

Morning Everyone (waving at you Bonnie)
Weight went up .6 of a pound putting me at 150 again, yesterday was 149.4 which is ok as long as it goes no higher.
I think I must have gotten used to taking codeine at night when I was having mouth problems as since Sunday when I didn't take any I can't sleep for more than 2 and a half hours and I am not tired, well I think my head is weary and my eyes are a bit sore....anyway the only thing I can think of is I became an addict over 9 days....its fine...my body will just have to deal with it till it sorts itself out.....life just feels a bit more upside down than normal lol.....house feels a mess....plants need planting etc etc.
Good news is that one day last week my new htc 1 m8 (phone) got delivered, I think it was the day before I landed up in bed and was to ill to play with it so today I need to learn how to use it.
The weather here is finally beautiful and hot and I cant wait to get down to the beach in another few days...... its going to be a beautiful summer.

Well hope everyone has losses this morning, hope you are feeling good Bonnie, let us know and we will all come for coffee, ah wouldn't that be lovely.

Good morning, everyone!!

Oh, Bonny, don't ever apologize for being chatty! Trust me, once I get going, you'll definitely have competition in the chatty arena!

162... 149... you know, when I got down to 160 back in 2011, everyone said that I was TOO skinny! I'm only 5'3" so I definitely wasn't. I'm not sure if it was just because everyone was so used to seeing me over 250 lbs for so many years, the loose skin that added a somewhat gaunt look to my features - I don't know. Looking at pictures of myself from then, I don't think my body was "too skinny" but I can see where people thought that of my face. Anyway, that's why I am making my final goal 175 lbs. Sure, that is still considered to be overweight. But it's a size I can live in for the long haul.

I think the last time I was 149 lbs, was in high school.

Fried eggs and chicken breast for breakfast today. The chicken is in a somewhat strange recipe, shredded in the food processor with mozzarella cheese, pressed down onto a baking sheet, and then baked for 20 minutes with basil, onion powder, etc. I enjoy it because it gives me that "toast with my fried eggs. I don't really miss bread but I miss its absorbing of my egg yolks. This recipe fits the bill nicely and a serving has only 1oz of mozzarella cheese.

Have a fabulous day, everyone!

Sandy I am thrilled you are one the mend. Your dentist story had me cringing.

I have been back on the straight and narrow and the scale is moving. I did order a cake pop machine that should be here tonight after reading a few low carb recipes that use one I was sold. Everything is more fun to eat if it is round and comes on a stick right?

I will let you all know how it works out. I am thinking mim recipes and things for my kid.lol. I am a sucker for a good gadget.

Morning all -

Lilac - YAY FOR BACON! The shredded chicken "toast" sounds good, may have to try it out in the next few days! I too am lover of fried eggs with something to sop up the yolks in, my mouth is watering just thinking of it!! May have that for dinner tonight. Do you like Avocado? If so, make up a burger patty, top with bacon, avocado, & a fried egg - HEAVEN!

Paleo - thanks for noticing my stats! I had forgotten about updating them -

Bonnie - sending you all hugs for your blue/sad day today

Leanne - glad your scale is finally cooperating

Random note - there is a fly in my office this morning & it is about to DRY ME MAD!!!!

I'm having a hard time this week staying motivated EVERYTHING looks good or sounds good to eat & I don't like it! Part of the problem is that we've been so busy that I haven't had time to pre-pack my meals or snacks so when I get hungry I don't have something right there next to me or in the fridge to take care of it. Next week is going to be even more busy -

FINALLY have an app with Early Childhood Intervention for DD, she is almost 2 as has been diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay (basically that just means that she is far behind in all of her development milestones) - we have her in physical therapy once a week right now bc that's all our insurance will pay for, but once she has her evaluation she will have OT/PT/ST 5 days a week during the summer!! This will help her progress leaps and bounds - Then Wednesday & Thursday we head to Children's Hospital in Little Rock for Audiology, Pediatric ENT, and Pediatric Gastrointerology appointments (LONG story for another day..) to check her hearing, roof of her mouth & speech, and to make sure she is absorbing the nutrients from her food/supplements. Then back home Thursday night for a follow up opthamalogist (special eye dr.) appt Friday morning - she had surgery to correct her crossed & lazy eyes last summer, we've started having to patch her eye again because the lazy eye is starting to turn in again

So.. trying to enjoy these few days of non-chaos but trying to get myself motivated back to strict eating..

Hope everyone has a great day, stays on plan, and see's losses!

I had too much sodium over the weekend. Yesterday I watched my sodium content and drank a lot of water. Now to keep it up today. It's also been more humid here…sad part is when I checked the weather it said the humidity was 30%….our normal is more like 5%. Southern California is so spoiled by the nice weather.

I tried on some tops that were tight last summer…they're on the big side. More options for the wardrobe!

I love avocado but I am trying to eat clean '72 so I'm afraid it's going to have to wait for now.

Just a little hint for you - low carb is positively DECADENT when you are coming off the HCG protocol. 500 calories of no fat and a restrictive food list like you wouldn't believe... it's actually what made me decide to switch to low carb from HCG. It certainly makes you look at foods in a whole different light.

You can do an internet search for "easiest breadsticks ever" and the chicken recipe should be at the top of the search. Yes, it's meant to be a low carb option for breadsticks, but the recipe is pretty versatile. Some use it as pizza crust, too.

I can not get my tablet to log onto this sight at all. I get wrong user name and password errors! I give up! A few more days and I hopefully can fix my laptop.

Anyway, for some reason I have been very short and on edge for the last few days. I either now know what it is like to be pregnant or in a roid rage. Just the slightest of irritation and I see red. I almost left work yesterday morning in an attempt to keep my job. I was able to get through it and I feel a little better today but still don't know whats up with me. I think I need a day or two alone with no contact from humans. Not sure how I can do that.

Vanna - If you have not looked at couch to 5k, its all over the internet for free, I would consider it. Its a good program

Sandy - I always wanted to do one of those home detox things like in the movies where you chain the guy to the heater and throw buckets of water on them and such as they so through all the withdrawal symptoms so if you do find the 8 days of pills got you I am your man. I have several pairs of handcuffs from my cop days and a sturdy bar to hook you to. Plus I listen to Dr. Drew on the reg so we got this.

Just Me - I have a 2 year old the was heroine addicted and fostered many medically fragile children and have a co worker that is a social worker with a severely disabled child so if you need someone to bounce stuff off I am there. Right now all I can say is make sure you are making time for you and your husband to get away a few times a month.

lilac - bummer about avocado!! I use it once or twice a week to up my fat %, but keep with the Atkins '72 if it works for you!!

Badda - thank you for the bouncing idea offer, it has been a frustrating year 1/2 - We first started noticing things @ about 6 months, but her then peidatrician just kept saying "she'll grow out of it" switched dr's but he said the same thing. Finally @ her 1 year mark when she had JUST started crawling I took matters into my own hands and got her evaluated by a PT and they were SO ANGRY that her pedi's hadn't caught something sooner. So switched AGAIN to her current pedi & she has been a Godsend. Spent over a half hour with her on our first meeting & immediately set up testing. We've had muscle enzyme tests & full genetic screening (both negative) so now we move onto the specialists. We may or may not find a cause, but either way there isn't some "magic pill" that will help her, it's a strict therapy regimen and continuous work on our part which is definately doable. Biggest thing with me is just not having answers.. We want to have another in the future, but no one can tell us whether they could/would have the same issues. So I dunno.. but for now, we're focusing on her & getting her caught up as quickly as possible. ok, off my soapbox now =)

Hi peeps! Sorry I fell off the face of the Earth Last week I had a little health scare. I had a mammogram that came back with something they wanted to check. I had an ultrasound done and then a core biopsy. Thank God everything came back benign. I'll tell ya, the waiting was so stressful. I had the procedures done on Monday and the doctor called me on Thursday with the news. I was going crazy. And unfortunately I seem to rely on chocolate in times of great stress Anyhoo, I've been strugging since then to get back on plan. Today I'm trying to just eat dinner and let myself feel hungry. I'm having a nice big steak for dinner

Bonny ~ Sorry you are down in the dumps. I experience that some times as well. The best cure for me is to go outside and either take a walk or do something physical. Hope it passes quickly

Sandy ~ I guess I missed something with the dentist? Hope you are feeling better now. Your weight looks very stable!

Sara and Lilac

Baddabing ~ Your posts always make me chuckle. I'm sorry you are feeling on edge. Hope it passes and you get to feeling better.

Leanne ~ You are shrinking woman!!! KUTGW

I apologize for missing lots of people. I need to go back a few pages and catch up.

For sure stay away from the avocado if you're doing Atkins '72 Induction. Have you done '72 before or just picked up all the tricks and rules from the hundreds of posts!! Who needs the book when we have experts right here!!

Gracie - so glad to see the biopsy results are benign. I've been there, the wait is absolutely terrifying.

Bonny - hope you're feeling good today! I've done it before. It's the fastest way to lose for me, and I love the simplicity. Who wants to fiddle around with net carbs? Not me. Plus my body loves high fat and close to zero carbs. I love bacon and steak and eggs, I could eat them every single day and not get bored. And I have. Unfortunately, I have to muddle through about 6 lbs of chicken breast tenders that I bought in preparation of doing another round of HCG (before I changed my mind). I don't swoon over chicken. Anyone have any '72 recipes for chicken to share?

Has anyone ever tried taking a kangaroo/hyena/goat hybrid for a walk? LOL I don't think my chocolate lab is really a dog.....he's something else. We tried a new harness for him to stop the pulling. The next step if this doesn't work is the harness that goes over the snout. At least he gives me a workout. I will try and catch up later. Its the last week of school here and its a crazy week. I will be glad when the kids are out for summer.

I'm eating on plan. I just have to find a better way to pan fry steaks. (The gas grill scares me.)

BulldogMom - I have a mutant boxer/great dane mix that only DH can walk because he pulls so hard. Do you have a cast iron skillet? I found the best way to pan fry steaks is in a cast iron pan, high heat and butter, sear on both sides and then pop the pan in 450 degree oven. That is the only way I will cook a steak now.

Lilac: Well, I was feeling better till I started watching the RCMP funeral service for the poor 3 souls from Moncton and bahled at work half the day. OMG, so, so sad.
I have no recipes cause I really don't like cooking, maybe that's why this works for me. It's either eggs, bacon or a small steak on the bbq or fried in some coconut oil, oh, and chicken the same way. Easy breezy but way too boring for some. I have simple tastes so it's working for me.

BulldogMom: burst out laughing at work. Most of my labs were like that but my last girl went to Obedience class and that helped but the thing that helped the MOST was a prong collar. NOW DON'T GET WORKED UP EVERYONE. I know they look barbaric but I was told by more than one vet, show people and others that the prong collar is actually safer than nylon or choke chains because the prong doesn't crush the larynx like other collars do. The prong applies an equal pressure all around the neck so as not to crush the throat. Some people put like a cover or sock over it cause many people don't understand how it really is so much safer. Bandit was a perfect walker when I used it. I don't need to anymore cause I don't think she realized she wasn't wearing it anymore. Again, only use it for training.
