Lilac, so nice to see you! Missed your humor and wit!

Kimber, yes stress can absolutely make you gain. Don't let the bounce stress you out even more. Just relax and try not to worry.

PaleoGuy, one of the many wonderful things about living in the desert is no lawn mowers! Lol.

Mountain, no, it's definitely not hiking weather! However it is boating weather, which I love. I just focus on indoor exercise during the summer. It did take me about a year of living here to get used to the fact that since it doesn't cool off at night, there's no cold water coming out of the faucet! Lol. Now that I'm used to it though, I don't mind it.

Hi, just popping in again. Eventually I will find some time to read. today I stayed on plan and did the gym thing. The singing instructor tried to kill me but I survived.

Tomorrow a SUPPER busy day. Taking Thursday and Friday off just because. Should be good to get back on track after that week off. O and a pending date night Friday night. O and hosting a big BBQ on Sunday, 25 + peeps.

24 June Thunder Storms

Morning All,
St Jean Baptiste day in Quebec so I get to enjoy a day off
Unfortunately, the weather looks like complete crap: thunder storms with heavy rain. We'll see...
MotherGoos: I was in Arizona several years ago: Meza. Think we were there in Oct/Nov as the only ones in shorts & t-shirts were Canadian visitors
EJW55: congrats on the drop.
Baddabing: enjoy your days off; have fun with the date night & BBQ. Singing instructor?

I am hopeful that a good night's sleep will help. I am sticking to plan and I will keep reading the boards for inspiration. Bonny I am starting to feel your pain.
MG I love your new picture! You look so good.

I'm off to the gym, and then try to sleep for a few hours then enjoy my family and cook some yummies for dinner.

Kimber if you are like me I gain weight twice a month. TTOM and ovulation. I have had most of my girl parts removed but stress adds to these times as well so about once a month I am slim and friendly I still get the PMS. Lol what fun! I have not been bothered over the last few months with weight gain. But now my body has adjusted to my new woe and I guess it's back to normal.

Hope all is well for everyone

CdnPaleoGuy - Yes singing instructor....

This girl is the one that stands in from of the class and shows you how to do something that in itself is very challenging. Then, in case, your not already going to throw up, she shows a harder way to do it if you want to do the challenge, and then yet a harder version of the harder version.

Your trying to keep your vision from going blurry, you cant breath, sweat is poring down your eyes, she is singing to whatever club music is going on to keep you motivated while doing the hardest version, not out of breath, checking her I Phone with her foot, doing her taxes with her other foot, thinking about which pie she should eat after class.

It kinda makes me want to snap her everything is sunshine and roses body in half but at this point I am a pile of meat and she clearly is stronger than me so I will continue this game until I can dominate it and then........ snap!

Kettelbells are interesting to me. I will probably go to them when I am finished with my currant routine. I wish they had a class for that. I like to do stuff at least once with someone who knows what they are doing. The movement with them is way different that regular weights.

So apparently if you don't have to get the kids ready, and take them to school you get to work a lot earlier than you planned. I have about 10 minutes before my victims show up. Praying I can push this through and done by 5p. I don't want to be here all night.

I actually remembered all my food, snacks, and drinks today. I am a bit dizzy though which is new. I don't know if it is because I woke up early, allergies or anything. Kind of like being drunk without drinking. I bet its allergies. Ill figure it out in time.

Hello, all!!

Kimber - stress, heat, overexertion - all these things make me gain (usually by way of water retention).

MamaG - holy wow!! Don't stand behind a pole, we won't be able to see you! Your journey is so amazing and you are such an inspiration! I hope you don't get tired of reading that, lol.

Bonny - My old philosophy used to be that if you plant enough, the weeds won't have a place to root and spread. The weeds have proven that philosophy is not my strong suit.

I've been trying to eat on plan but I fail here and there. I love watermelon, for example. And cherries are in season and cheap. Then there was the taco salad yesterday that I swore I would not eat the shell of and um... errr... well... I did.

As much as I enjoy the reduced stress of not weighing, I have to admit that I am looking forward to the July challenge and being accountable. I really want to be in ONEderland by year end and I feel like I will never get there at this rate.

Here is the "Helm of Awe" that DH and F-i-L got tattooed. When DH showed it to me, I said, "Nice snowflake."

I actually had a bet with DH that F-i-L would chicken out. THEY decided to try and fool me. DH said that his dad got about an inch done and then chickened out. F-i-L drew a tiny little line on the other arm and tried to say that was the tattoo. Neither of them could keep a straight face and finally showed me that he DID go through with it. DH said he didn't say "ow" once!

I got a new trumpet case that is aluminum. My DW said it looked like something Liberace would carry. Wompwomp.

Hi everyone,

MG, yes, finding cold water can be difficult in Summer. At times I have resorted to running the hot water at the sink for a few seconds (before the actual hot water arrives) in order to get some “cold” water to come out of the tap.

Baddabing: we use to have guys like that; they could run full out & smoke at the same time while I would be huffing & puffing like an old train trying to keep up. Hated them
Look for an RKC or Strongfirst instructor if you can for the kettlebells.
Lilac: I'm sure they were impressed with your snowflake comment. So are the tattoos b/w or colour?
It has been pouring cats & dogs all day. Thankfully, it was just a light misting this morning walking Gunner. He still came home looking like we tried to use him as fishing bait
Picked up a copy of 'grain brain' yesterday at the local library; anyone want to guess what type diet he recommends?
He also recommends coconut oil & exercise. I'm just trying to figure out (from the book) whether it has to be cardio/aerobic or anything that gets a sweat going? Anyone else read/reading the book?

Hi everyone, just popping in. I'm being really good for the next 3 days, have to fit into a dress I bought on that E auction site. Great deal -- had a Wagjag promotion one morning last week with a pretty dress that was usually $70 on for $29 plus s/h plus HST (13% tax that we pay on almost everything). Went to my favourite shopping site and found it for $10.99, no tax, free shipping, from China (sorry if it might be made in some sweat shop....) Problem was, it wouldn't arrive until July 16th -- my birthday. Opened my mailbox yesterday and there it was! So now I have to not look like a stuffed sausage in it. Can't bear the thought of Spanx in this heat, but might have no choice ....lol. It's pretty form fitting. I guess I can always throw a jacket over it. Don't want to look like the town tart at the NHL Draft!

Made meatloaf for dinner, left out the breadcrumbs so I could eat it and the family inhaled it, so it must have been good. Had caesar salad and a glass of white wine. Wearing a pedometer thing I bought at a silent auction last week, trying to do more than 5000 steps a day, which is hard because I sit painting glass a lot of the time.

Speaking of which I tried to post some photos but as they linked to my website I got moderated. Not sure how else to show you guys what it is I do, kinda hard to explain sometimes.

Nice to read everyone's comments, liking the snowflake tattoo

CPG, Kettlebells look like fun, but my DH will kill me if I buy one more piece of equipment that I don't use. Sold the Gazelle on Kijiji, willing myself to go get on my Pilates machine....

Freddy, I loved Liberace, and unless it's got feathers and sequins, I'm sure your case is fine.

MG, as everyone has told you , you look amazing.

Hi Lilac, James, Bonny-Jean, Mountain and everyone else.... off to do laundry, trying to be organized for this trip. DH wants to only take carry-on, which is a challenge for me!

25th June

Well the rain finally stopped. We DO have some flooded roads in town but nothing affecting my ride into work.
HockeyMum: your lucky, there are both RKC & Strong First (along with Agatsu) instructors in T.O! I'm sure there will be plenty of Mom trying hard to hang onto their figures at the draft; you'll be one of the skinny ones
Ok, off to catch the people's cadillac. Have a great day folks!

Morning All

I think I'm dumping all these vitamins, including the potassium.
Upped my dose to 800 mg's several days ago and suffered a wicked cramp last night. Like I've said before, my previous woe was never very healthy with little fruit and zero vegetables and I've always been surprisingly healthy and never took a supplement in my life. If they work for some people that's great but I don't believe they work for me so enough throwing money away.
I'm done!!!

Good morning all,

I didn't post yesterday. Trying to get a big freelance project done and still pay some attention to my daughter. Being a freelancer is definitely easier during the school year.

Today, I'll be working this morning then probably do something fun with her this afternoon. Not sure what yet. Yesterday afternoon we spent a couple hours at Chuck E. Cheese. I think I like it as much as she does. Ha! I know I'm weird that way. We just played games and didn't order pizza, although I was really hungry and it smelled really good!

I think today we'll go to the library. No temptation there.

If you're just starting Induction, then don't fret the calories right now. Just keep your carbs as low as you possibly can. Some of us on the 1972 version try to keep them way under 10, I think the '92 version allows up to
20 with some being from 2 cups of loosely packed greens per day.
I rarely go out to eat now cause there's just too much unnecessary fillers and spices loaded with sugar to even take the chance anymore. If I go out I will ask for "clean" meat, no glazes, spices, sauces or rubs. I'll salt and pepper if need be. Most places have no problem offering that. Not much you can do with a burger if they fill it with bread crumbs or rice or such. Don't be afraid to ask what's in or on something!

I think everyone notices high sodium meals and such, especially here in the challenge where most of us weigh daily!
All the best to you!!
Thanks for reminding me about the induction carbs. I eat about 30 and this must be the reason why I lose only a little. I'll try to cut down from now on!

I lost my mom two months ago and might be eating more carbs to make me feel better.

Down today to 143.6! Had a pretty active day yesterday, so maybe that's why. But then again, I've given up trying to understand HOW my body loses, I just stick to the plan and let it do what it's going to do. LOL I was thinking this morning that for the LONGEST time my goal was just to weigh less than my BF, but as I lost weight so did he, so it seemed to take forever to weigh less than him. And now I weigh 60 pounds less than him! That's so crazy to wrap my head around!

Ronnie, so sorry for your loss! Emotional eating is a tough one for a lot of us!

Vanessa, I'm sure you'll fall into a schedule that works for you as summer goes on. Chuck E Cheese is one place that I don't have trouble avoiding the pizza. I LOVE pizza, but I've never really liked theirs very much.

EJW, LOVE the picture! Nice to see you!

Bonnie, as you know, it's all about finding what works for you, so if dumping the vitamins works for you, then that's what you should do. When do you get the results of your lab work? It's ridiculous that these leg cramps are continuing.

Skinny, how are you doing?

HockeyMum, can't wait to hear how the draft goes and you'll be there rocking your new dress and looking like one HOT MAMA!!!

PaleoGuy, I haven't read the book, but I've heard a lot about it. I can't wait to hear what you've learned from it.

You would think that the fact traffic was light, daycare was easy to do, parking was easy, and that no one bothered me for an hour that I would have realized I woke up an hour earlier and went to work an hour earlier than I thought it was.... Made me feel instantly tired.

Fat Fredy - I played trumpet for like 10 years from regular band kind of things to Jazz and Drum Corps. Its now being used by a niece. I always like the leather gig bags myself.

Aloha everyone! back from two days away from everything! (BF and I went to the gettysburg area and it was way fun!)
Well i haven't weighed yet but will tomorrow. It'll be interesting, because the first day I didn't eat much and we went on a 3 mile hike that turned into a nearly 6 mile hike with STEEP trails - because we got LOST! hahaha. good exercise, though!
Great new photo MtrGoos!
glad to see everyone in a good mood

Hi everyone!!! Sorry I haven't posted but I decided to switch it up a bit. I've been following Trim Healthy Mama and feeling pretty good. During the summer it's just too hard for me while taking all 3 kids to the lake every weekend to follow hardcore low-carb. My new plan is low-carb with some allowed low glycemic carbs.

Bonny-Jean ~ I found this old thread for you on leg cramps. I'd totally forgotten I had read about putting a bar of soap in your sheets to stop the cramps. The one woman hasn't had one in 5 years since putting a bar of soap under her fitted sheet. These some other good ideas in the thread too.

Leg Cramps, Charlie horses!! argh

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks MotherGoos! I will definitely keep reading and posting. My plan is from a book called Trim Healthy Mama. The focus of each meal is protein and then you either add fat or low-glycemic carbs to it. They call them S for satisfying (low-carb, high fat) and E for Energizing (low-glycemic carbs, low-fat). And you can switch up your meals during the day as long as you wait 3 hours in between so you have completed the insulin response. The biggest rule is you can never have fat with carbs, that is the death kiss for weight gain. It sounds confusing but it's pretty simple. It's still low-carb but if I want to eat oatmeal for breakast I can - I just add some 0% greek yogurt and berries.
