Thanks Bonny-Jean, yes I was so proud of both of them last night, although I've been ready to kill him lately trying to get him to finish assignments and actually hand them in!

And to Candy Pickle Toes, yes my DS hopes to make the NHL (don't all young hockey players). He is expecting to be drafted next weekend, not sure where to yet, but 9 teams have interviewed him and we've had some good feedback, so it's pretty exciting. He's only just turned 18, so it'll probably be a couple of years before he'd actually play at that level, if he makes a team. Baddabing is from Colorado, and that was the best interview he's had yet, so I may actually get to meet James one day

Yeah! I will take you out for a nice steak!

Freddy - All you have to do is work in my office. I think they keep it at about 10 degrees. The chief said he wants to start hanging meat in it.

20th June

1st day of summer & what do I read about; $$$ of meat going up
FF: haven't heard of Jack Kruze. There's so many of these folks that it's hard to separate the wheat from the cr@p
Bonny-Jean: I was sitting in a bar/restaurant many moons ago & overheard some ladies talking about how excited they were about a 'certain' exam they either had or were getting soon. I asked my DW about it & she said there was nothing exciting about it. Guess they weren't getting the proper attention at home
But I understand how you feel, I might be slightly red too if Lynda Carter or Julie Newmar told me to drop them in the Dr's office
HockeyMum: my sister's BFF son in law plays for the Mtl Cdn's and was drafted from one of those satellite towns near TO so it's possible. Good luck to your DS

Back to basics and induction for me. I'm spoiled with my loses so far and this small stall is depressing me. So I will stop all the extra goodies that worked for the first 25. I do realize how fortunate I have been to be able to eat and drink the way I have been. And buckle down for a few weeks and see if the scale starts moving again. I still have over 20 lbs to put me in a midrange bmi. So close and so far....

I also think ghrelin might be causing me a few issues as my favorite books to read lately are low carb recipe books. I even read them at the gym when doing cardio. Ghrelin can raise cortisol levels...... as well as hunger. The hunger I can handle the hormone that holds.onto fat, not so much I will put them away as well unless I am actually cooking.

I need to get into food is fuel mindset for awhile.

Time to start rereading my Atkins book.

I hope everyone is well. I am going to a church picnic today as it is the last day of vacation bible school here. Bunless hotdog here I come.

Bonny any news on what might be causing the cramps? Maybe something will show in the blood work.

Congratulations and best of luck to your son hockey mom!

Kimber you are a hottie superwoman. You have lost 10 lbs this month already! Wow

A few more for mothrgoos wow is all I can say

Thanks for letting me vent. I am feeling better.

Went out to Five Guys with my son for lunch yesterday. Tasty!! Their burgers were so juicy and their bacon so crisp!! I forgot to ask them to omit the bun but I was so surprised that I wasn't even tempted to eat that thing!! Could it be that my brain has accepted the fact that I don't eat that carby crap anymore?! I'm so pleased that the longer I stick with this, the less I 'miss' the junk!! I'm so thankful because of course the girls at work always seem to pick up the bringing sweets and chips in to munch on whenever I am trying to lose weight. I used to get irritated. Now, I almost feel sorry for them!!

Hope everyone has a good day! Happy Summer

Morning All

James: Not sure how you can even function in those temps. I'd have to wear my snowmobile suit to work!

Leanne: for your starting weight, you ARE doing very, very well. I'm down to maybe 1 lb per week so you're still doing really good! Patience my dear!

Kimber: Getting your head in the game really is such a HUGE part of this. 5 Guys here are really into the "no carb" thing and they really know how to wrap their burgers in lettuce. It's actually wrapped and doesn't slide all over place. Too bad you can't order a med rare burger though. Congrats on all your success and best wishes for them continuing. You got this girl!!!

Gonna try to get that arbour back up today. Not sure if I put the posts in the ground and then try to lift the 8' arbour onto them or do I put the posts into the hollow arbour legs and then lift the entire thing into the ground? Hmm, I think the latter would be easier. We'll see!

Thanks Kimber and Bonny you make a great cheerleaders!
I reread my '92 Atkins book and had a large sliced mushroom and one green onion and a scrambled egg cooked in butter with boursin cheese melted on top. So wonderful and delightful. I do not have the '72 version.

Top-o-the-morning.
CPG - kruse is actually a brain surgeon but has some interesting ideas.
Kimber, it takes some time to make that mind switch. And of course food companies are working against us! Anyway it becomes second nature and just "how you are" in your WOE
B.J., Kimber, Leanne - Your loss this month is great.
I'm down to 179..... It's where I started the month. Ahhhhh!! Been up and down, up and down. Anyway, staying the course.

Happy Friday! We are heading to the lake today after work. Hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. Yesterday I fasted until dinner and then had sweet sausage (crock pot) and broccoli/cheese. TOM is due though so I'm bloated and cranky. Being at the lake should change that though! I bought the book Trim Healthy Mama and plan on reading it this weekend. It's more of eating carbs consciously type plan. Hoping it's good!

Bonny ~ OMG you are seriously so close to the 150's!!! That is awesome My sister used to be cold all the time and she ended up having a low thyroid. I think she's on thryoid meds now. Her hands would be ice cold in the summer! What is your potassium dose? I take about 500 mg per day (5 pills @ 99mg). Maybe your dose isn't large enough? Hope they figure it out for you.

Kimber ~ Love your pic! You are doing great!

Leeann ~ Your loss this month is very good. Stick to your plan and it will start coming off again.

CdnPaleo ~ Linda Carter? I was Wonder Woman for Halloween when I was in kindergarten I remember watching that show all the time.

DQ ~ Roasted cauliflower sounds yummy When we are camping on the weekends we do a cabbage/butter/bacon thingy. You stick butter inside a head of cabbage and then wrap it in bacon. You throw in the fire (low) for about 30 minutes and OMG it's fantastic!!!

FatFreddy ~ hang in there! The month isn't over yet.

HockeyMum ~ How exciting!!! I hope you DS gets drafted - maybe to the PENGUINS??? Then I can take you DAHN TAHN for lunch. (Pittsburghese for down town) When we were on our honeymoon back in 1997 we went on a booze cruise. On that cruise we met Andrew Ferrence (sp?). He was 17 and just drafted to the Penguins. He was with us for a while and still plays today. It was super cool! I gave him our phone number on the boat but he never called

Hi Lilac, Badabing, MotherGoos, Sandy, and I'm so sorry if I missed anyone!!!

Going to the lake! That's awesome! Well, I'll find out in a week or so, what's going on, if anything. Right now I'm taking:
Vitamin D..... 1000 mg
Magnesium...1680 mg
Potassium...... 600 mg
Calcium D3....1300 mg

I don't think this is the issue and seriously considering dropping all these pills.

Have a great weekend.

I know I've read where people have to take more than double of the potassium that you are taking because of getting cramps. That 600 mg is the equivalent of 2 bananas. I think MotherGoos takes two of those per day. But you should definitly ask your doctor about it. Do you take the Mag/Calcium together? Mine is a combo and I believe you need one for the other to work.

Hoping you see 150 in the next day or two!!!

Gracie: I think I'm taking enough? I told my Dr. what I was taking and he said nothing except keep taking them. Unlike me, he's a firm believer in them???
He won't say diddly till the blood work comes in. Dr. Atkins says calcium, E and C for leg cramps. Potassium for fatigue??? Page 125. Then he goes on to say "some" might need pot and mag so I'm no smarter? Whatever!
btw: I'll sit at 160 for another 7-10 days for sure cause I only burped away that 161.

Gracie, I'm hoping my son goes to Pittsburgh because my daughter will be at RMU in Moon Township next year (on a hockey scholarship, what else), and it's less than half an hour away. It'd make my life easier travel wise! Latest we've heard from his agent is that Carolina is very interested, so we'll see. That steak may have to wait James, but I'd love to take you up on it sometime

CPG, we have a family friend, Mike Weaver, who plays for Montreal, and another friend is the Assistant GM there. They also interviewed my son and my DH's brother lives in Montreal, so that'd be a good fit too.

Bonnie-Jean, I get terrible foot cramps too, but I find it's if I haven't had enough water during the day, and/or if I've been wearing high heels all day. I hope you find the cause.

Kimber and Leanne, you're both doing great. You've lost the 5 pounds I'm hoping to get rid of. (Then another 5 or 10 too) I put on a bikini yesterday and it's not pretty. I will definitely have to start doing something to tone up the jiggle that hit once I hit 50.

Just arrived at the cottage, DH is cutting the grass and being a jerk (sorry guys) so I'm in here checking in and cheering myself up. They say women are moody! I think he's uptight about the draft next week, but he insists he's not. I'll be glad when it's over. He doesn't handle stress well and neither do either of his parents, so I've learned to just deal with it. I'm pretty laid back and try to take everything in stride, as all the worry in the world will not change the outcome of anything and just make you sick, I believe. Oh well, will pour myself a glass of wine and go sit by the lake for a bit, it's supposed to be a nice weekend. I know it's not on plan but I haven't had any carbs yet today!

Just picked up some flank steak that I'm going to marinate and BBQ, I love flank steak. Anyone have a good marinade recipe?

Bonny ~ when I was pregnant I would get horrible foot and leg cramps. They would wake me up in the middle of the night and I'd have to jump out of bed! The doctor told me I needed potassium and suggested eating 1-2 bananas per day and it worked! So that was about 600 mg of potassium. If you are depleted because of the very low-carb you probably do need more. Oh, and I take the mag/calc combo before bed, supposed to help with sleep. I hope it's not 7-10 days to get in the 150's. Seriously, one good visit to the loo and you're there

DQ ~ Yes, you core the cabbage and throw in the butter - it's either 1 or 2 sticks. Then you wrap in bacon (buy extra thick) and then cover with aluminum foil. The key is the fire cannot be blazing, it has to be a low fire. We did our first one in a nice big fire and all the bacon was black Throw it in a low fire and let it cook. Super duper good

Hockeymum ~ I remember you saying your daughter was going to RMU. When does she start? I hope your son comes to Pittsburgh too. Then I can tell everyone I know a Penguin And maybe, just maybe, he can someday introduce me to Kris Letang

Hi Everyone!!! Another Drop today! I'm at 146.4 today! I was so shocked when I got on that scale! My body is SO WEIRD! I'll go weeks straight without a single loss, and then all of a sudden I'll have one good week. What is that about???? I'm just thankful for it. Honestly, only one time since I was about 12 has my weight been this low. That's when I was in my early 20's and got down to 136 for about 5 minutes. I had no idea how to maintain it and VERY quickly put it all back on. I don't really have any intention of getting that low again, I want to weigh what I can easily live with and maintain. I don't want to work myself to death, or starve myself to maintain it. Right now and I'm very happy with what I'm eating and how my exercise is going, so I think this is a good place for me. Right at 150 or just below.

I've had a WONDERFUL morning. Fridays have become my favorite day of the week! Usually Fridays are no big deal because I work all weekend, but since my son is here, my BF covers the shop on Friday mornings and my son and I go spend a couple of hours at the lake and then grab Chipotle for lunch before coming in to work. All my favorite things ~ Family, Water, Sun, and Chipotle!

Bonny, I really hope your Dr gives you some answers! I know it's got to be SO frustrating waking up every night with the leg cramps!

DQ, I'm sure you're do for a Whoosh any time!

Gracie, that cabbage does sound WONDERFUL! I wonder if we could make that on the grill too?

HockeyMum, I always wonder what to do with flank steak when I see it on sale. How do you cook it? Is it tender? Is it fatty at all?

Freddy, hang in there! I'm the same, my weight goes up and down up and down before I get any really good losses. Hang tough and it will happen!

Kimber you are doing GREAT! And Bonny is so right, getting your head in the right place is the biggest part of this. You're obviously there! You're really doing great and I know that feels so good! We're all proud of you!

PaleoGuy, I read that too about the price of meat going up. I always stock up on whatever is on sale. I hit the meat counter every single morning to see what they have marked down because it's getting close to the expiration date. I grab it up and stock the freezer. I just plan the weeks meals around whatever I have in the freezer.

I hope everyone is ready for a great weekend! I'm loving our 115 degree temps and I'll be working all weekend, but ready to hit the lake next week!

Gracie, that recipe sounds great. My daughter's just finished Grade 11, so she will start at RMU in Sept. 2015. If and when my son ever plays in/against Pittsburgh, I'll try and swing us both an invite to meet Kris Letang

DH came in and apologized. I guess he figured out why I was avoiding him...lol.

Didn't do the flank, making tuna salad instead.

Morning All

Good sleep last night. Not 1 leg cramp! Was it cause I took my potassium just before bed??? Went to 2 large pharmacies yesterday and couldn't find potassium higher than 100 mg' a pill. Do I have to go to a health food store??

If it is to be it is up to me! You are an artist and life is your canvas - make it beautiful!
Heart attack on 7/27/13 - early detection = 0% damage to my heart! Know the signs, they may not be exactly what you think. When in doubt, check it out, go to the ER.

Saturday 21st June

Morning All: Geez, we have some early birds in the crowd!
Gracie514: I'm assuming your at the lake by now; Tina Louise was another favorite when I was growing up
Bonny-Jean: hopefully you've figured out the dosage that prevents the cramps. Every once in awhile my leg/ankle will cramp up too & I head straight for the supplements. I always assume it's due to dehydration after being out on a trail too long.
MtherGoos: your fading away. Have you started in on the maintenance rung yet? I use to take a quick look at the soon to expire meat offerings too but it would seem the big city has more people doing the same thing. Time to get serious about finding a butcher who doesn't ask for blood along with the $$$
HockeyMum: how weird is that: Mike Weaver is the son in law of my sister's BFF. And I'm originally from Montreal too: small world
FatFreddy: I took a quick read of Dr Kruse over at another site; seems the folks there don't buy into his theories unless of course, I missed the point of the thread completely
Art DeVany mentions cold water uses for upping testosterone so I'm not dismissing it's use; just not part of my routine yet.
So much going on this weekend in our little Capital: something called Caribbean Vibe, there's a Dragon Boat race, Rib Fest & several other things that I won't bore you folks with.
I'm off to enjoy a tour of a local brewery with my Brother in law: a Christmas gift I got him. Includes a tour (duh), 5 samples & a glass/mug from the brewery. Follow that up with a BBQ at my sister's place. Hopefully she'll have some real meat on the grill as she's a vegan
No geocaching again this weekend. DW wants to go do hill sprints followed by a kettlebell workout. Did anyone go read about Tracy Reifkind?
Hopefully I'll manage to sneak in some FIFA viewing too. Have a great day folks.

CDP, I know that a lot of folks are on opposite sides regarding Kruse. I think he's über smart, and crazy! Regarding *** forums, you can also find folks consuming nothing but potatoes and bananas, so all factions seem to hang out there.
I've only used the cold water protocols as a means to help myself overcome my sensitivity. Whatever else people claim, it has really helped with that. If you're not overly sensitive to cold I don't see any reason to use it.

Does anyone else step on the scale in the morning, and when they see an unexpected loss, hear the Queen song start playing in their head......."And another one gone, and another one gone, another one bites the dust!"....... or it just me???? Another pound down today! 145.4!!!! Don't know why. But remember that I went 3 entire weeks with no losses, so now I'm just getting them all at once. Maybe my body is finally accepting the exercise and releasing the water it was storing? Who knows, I'm just thankful for it.

Bonny, maybe you stumbled on to what works for you? Taking the potassium just before bed. Maybe that's the key for you? Your losses are looking great, you're SO CLOSE to 150's! And then I'll sing the Queen song for you too! Actually, you'd probably prefer I NOT do that.

PaleoGuy, your weekend sounds fun! No, I haven't started moving up the maintenance ladder yet. I wanted a few pounds of wiggle room under my goal weight first. I guess it's time.....

Candy, nice losses for the month! Especially with a "carbication" in there! Looking good!
