Bonny - I am sure that is awful to watch. I read the article about Constable Ross's wife being "visibly" pregnant at the service and that alone would make me cry buckets.

I can't eat 6 more lbs of plain chicken. Bleh.

Oh well, I haven't eaten today I am so spitting mad. Spent 3 hours in the passport office this morning because some idiot broke into our car last year and stole our laptop case. DH's passport was in it. Then we found the case (minus the laptop) near the scene. Passport was in it. Had already been reported stolen. Used Nexus pass for the last year and a bit to cross the border but now that we need to fly at the end of the month figure he needs a passport. Holy crap! Wait an hour, get to the front with my already cleared paperwork, then get told I need a form to report the lost/stolen/found passport. Which my husband has to sign (I'm a good 40 minutes from home at the Passport office). I call him, I fill it out, he says "sign my name" so I do. Security, threats of arrest. Geez. I worked in Social Service related work years ago and the crap that goes through offices is amazing. All I'm trying to do is get this freaking passport, and I have the old one with me. You'd think I was a terrorist. No new passport, he has to go in himself with the forms tomorrow and wait all over again. No wonder people hate the government. We are self employed and for him to take a half day and sit there just costs us money. I sign everything for him in our business. Aaarrghh. Rant over.

Reading about your children with their special challenges made me feel really guilty about my complaining, but it was just so frustrating.

The Canna photos were gorgeous BJ, and my heart also goes out to the families of our RCMP fallen today. I haven't watched any of the coverage of the funerals, but I know I'll ball my eyes out.

Hi Everyone,

This is the first chance I got today to catch up on the posts. Gypsie, glad to hear your husband is doing well after the stroke. That must have been a very difficult time. I can't imagine.

This morning, I was down two pounds. Yay! And my daughter and I went for an interval run. For the last three summers, I've done the Couch to 5K program, and I kind of start over every summer. So I'm at the beginning of the program again. I really wouldn't mind living in a warmer climate so I could run in the winter too, but it's just too snowy and nasty here in the winter to get out there.

Today I (and my daughter) had a birthday lunch to go to and the special was prime rib. It was perfect for Atkins and really good! Of course I had to avoid the amazing bread and butter they bring out before the food, but I did well.

Vanna, I LOOOOOVVVE Prime Rib, especially with horseradish, but you really have to watch the carbs in that I have found. And I thought the cast iron skillet was for the dog too until I read a bit further.....

Now I've calmed down, made some roast beef rollups with cheese and mustard, cooking steaks for dinner with fried rice with veggies for DH and kids, broccoli for me. Oh well, if I can stay mad I'll be a pound lighter tomorrow. Not to mention the heat, I'm sweating because cheapo won't put on the Air Conditioning in the house. Maybe another pound from that?

Thanks everyone. Tough day in Mountieville. Heart breaking when anyone gets killed in the line of duty but I do have a soft spot for my po-po!
I heard about two more officers in Vegas getting killed. This world is becoming crazier and crazier. It's scary to think of all the lunatics that are out there.

VANNA: Glad I wasn't the only one that picked up on that. It was funny though. Nice drop and good for you for ignoring that deadly bread! You're in a big carb junkie club so we all know how hard that is! KUTGW!

KIMBER: Nice pic there girl. Pretty smile and just think as you get smaller that smile with get bigger and bigger!

HOCKEYMUM: Ugh, don't even get me started on the gov't!! I now call, if you can get thru and ask exactly what forms, where do I find them and is this ALL I need BEFORE I come down there? Most importantly, I ask WHAT IS YOUR NAME!!!! You'd be amazed how things change!!

What's everyone having for dinner? I heard steak in a skillet (possibly cast iron). We're doing burgers on the grill and sauteed veggies. What is everyone else having?

That's probably what I will be having. I am stopping at the market on the way home and I see they have NY strip on sale (last day). I skipped lunch today (not on purpose, super busy at work) so I am ravenous.

June weight goal: 140. And to remain consistent with my walking (I've walked almost every day for the last 3 weeks).

June 1: 145.4 (walk/arm weights)
June 2: 144.8!!!!!!!!! (walk)
June 3: 145 TOM (a bit of stroll lakeside with DH, but not a real walk like we usually do).
June 4: 145 TOM (walk/arm weights)
June 5: 145 TOM (did a ton of physical work at my mom's to replace walk)
June 6: 145 TOM (walk/arm weights)
June 7: 144.8 (walk/arm weights)
June 8: 144.6 (walk)
June 9: 144 (arm weights)
June 10: 144 (walk/arm weights)

Crazy busy preparing for our long weekend away. Sooo excited.

I am so happy for you that the results were benign, Gracie. I had a cancer scare right after my second child was born. And a bigger cancer scare with our youngest when he was 7 years old. Thankfully just scares, but the waiting is the just awful.

So sad about the Mounties. And the cops in Las Vegas. And this morning a school shooting in Portland, Oregon. It feels like the world has gone completely nuts.

So I am still maintaining and not eating on track, but staying away from pasta rice potatoes, although yesterday due to being tired ate bread and then pizza so don't know how the scale went down, but have a bit more energy today so off to the store to get healthy food....its funny how sometimes it can take two days to show up on the scales so tomorrow it will be up again I guess so I had better start being good from now on.
Gracie its nice to see you back again I have missed your posts they remind me of Hockeymoms a really good read.

Just a quick good morning before heading off to the cube farm.
Sandy1: did you get the tooth/gum problem fixed yet?
Gyspy: think I just caught the tail end about Oregon. Will read about it later today; my DW thinks its all the sugar in the food causing people's brains to fry.
Gracie: I can't imagine how nervous you may have been! Happy to hear you're ok.
For the Dexter fans in the audience; you may remember there's more than one use for a frying pan
Ok, time to get moving....have a great day folks!

I got my cake pop maker last night and we had balls for dinner.
Ground chicken, garlic, onion and peppers, cheese, ham and broccoli.

I dipped mine in a little mix of low sugar ketchup maple syrup and wasbi. It was definitely fun food and something I might make again.

This morning it will be pancake balls for the kid and and mim balls for me before we head off to the gym.
I really want to try some chocolate balls with coconut oil glaze but I am afraid of not being able to control my portions. I am going to have to think on it. I only have mims once a week or so. I like losing weight and do not want to slow down yet. I took it easy when the kids were here and we have more kids coming the first of July.

Sorry for the side rant... I know it's not race but a journey, lifestyle, a WOE and all that but I just want to be into my old wardrobe! On a good note I am just about a half a pound away from being halfway to goal.
I might have said that before but It really is amazing that in less than 9 weeks, 24 and a half pounds gone. Atkins, low-carb, and support what a fabulous combination. Just what my body was looking for

The May and June threads are what inspired me to keep going when I wanted to cheat. We are real people who are losing and working towards goals and MAINTAINING GOALS. That keeps me reading and involved as much as anything. Real success stories. I will be one of those successes. Weight and fat is something I have control over. but not bloat, water weight always fluctuates

Okay I need coffee with lots of cream. I am off to start the day I hope everyone has a fantastic one! Thank you all for being involved, to me it makes a real difference.

Morning All

Hi Sandy: Yeah, I agree the scale thing is a "two day" wait rather than the next. I've found it takes 2 to show an accurate up or down unless one has had too much sodium then that I think will show the next day. Hope your meds are working. Are you going to a doctor or whatever to check on it?? I still am completely boggled why no one drained it and THEN put you on antibiotics???
Take care my friend.

CPG: How are your numbers? You haven't mentioned them for awhile?

Leanne: Wow, lucky girl you can eat those foods and STILL lose weight? OMG, my scale dial would be spinning if I tried that! Good luck to you and if it's working then that's a great thing!! Wish I was you!

MamaG: Where is you???

CdnPaleoGuy - Personally, I think we as humans have generally forgotten how to co-exist together. We've become a world of instant "me" gratification and indulgences thanks to 4G and the internet. I said to someone last year that you can just look at how people drive to see the decline of peaceful co-existence and the selfishness of most. It's a sad state. I find the older that I get, the more old-fashioned my values become.

Oh, and MAJOR Dexter fan here, although I will NEVER forgive the writer's for the series finale.

"Harry's first rule was don't get emotionally involved, I think this is why." - LOL that scene where he whacked Rita's ex with the frying pan was priceless!

Forgot to mention, dinner last night WAS a NY strip in the cast iron pan. Marinated in EVOO and a splash of balsamic vinegar, with this really great sugar- and salt-free rub from the local market. Gee, my smoke detector is WAY too sensitive, it always goes off when I am cooking steaks.

A quick breakfast of bacon and poached eggs, and I am off to do my day. Not looking forward to work today - boss and I had some words as I was leaving yesterday. We generally get along well but I don't always agree with his decisions, and he made one that resulted in my monthly bonus being reduced. I don't find it fair and let him know as much. My monthly bonus used to be my "mad money", but ever since my husband's stage 4 cancer diagnosis, his having to cut back his working hours, and a chemo bill for $92k every 3 weeks with no end in sight... yes, every dollar counts for my family and I did not appreciate him shorting me.

Oh Lilac, I'm so sorry about your husband's diagnosis. Somehow I missed that. We had a friend with stage 4 breast cancer and she has survived 8 years now. She gave me a book for my SIL who is currently fighting BC, called "Just get me through this". It was excellent. It talks about staying positive, reducing stress, exercising -- as hard as that may be -- and removing sugar/glucose in any form from your diet, as cancer cells thrive on glucose. It is such a terrible disease and I will pray that he is able to recover. My SIL just finished chemo, it is all paid for up here, I can't believe how expensive that is for your family, sending hugs. Your boss is an idiot to do that at a time like this.

I had my scrambled egg in a bowl with cheese this morning (one minute in the microwave but boy, if you don't wash the bowl right away it's like cement in the bowl when it goes through the dishwasher...lol.) and my tea with Silk. And my blood pressure rise yesterday with my fight at the passport office burned off some calories. I was back down to 128.5 this morning. I am going to hit 125 this weekend if it kills me. There is no more Easter chocolate left in the house, so I can't cave. It's my main weakness.

Thanks CPG for the thoughts, hope you are doing well.

Leanne your cake pop maker sounds like a great idea, I think my kids would love the balls. Where did you get it?

Sandy, glad you're on the mend.

Hi Gypsy, have fun packing for your long weekend.

Bonny-Jean and MG, waving hello at you (don't know how to do those fancy emoticon things

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!
I was surprised this morning to see another good drop. I was down another pound and a half. With a two pound loss yesterday, I was expecting to maintain at best. So that was nice to see!

It's supposed to rain all day here, so I'm not sure how much exercise we'll get. Maybe it will be a mall day.

A couple weeks ago, my chiropractor did some muscle testing on me. I had come down with shingles on the tail end of our spring break vacation, so he wanted to see what was compromising my immune system. He found a wheat allergy was the culprit. That really explained a lot. Whenever I have wheat products, I gain weight like crazy and get seriously bloated. And of course anything with wheat has tons of carbs, which does not help either. My body feels so much better eating low carb. It is really thanking me!

Another thing my chiropractor is doing is treating my endometriosis. I asked him a couple months ago if there was anything he could do for it. So he did some muscle testing for that and found that I need to pump up my adrenals. I started taking an adrenal complex and I feel so much better. My energy had been in the dumps, but now my energy is great. I never would have started running before the adrenal complex. He said I should be done with it later this month, then we can see if anything else is adding to my endometriosis. I've had it for twenty-five years and I've always been told there is no cure. So, needless to say, I'm really loving my chiropractor these days! I wish I would have asked him about it sooner!

James, if you have a chiropractor who does kinetic muscle testing, you may want to be tested to see if they can find a reason for your mood change. It may be something pretty simple.

How's everyone else doing this morning?
