Sheila, it looks fine. If you just started 3 days ago, it's much too early to worry about tweaking. Stay the course and let it happen.

What is the comment about too much protein can end up like sugar ? I eat quite a bit of protein ( thats most of my diet ) and I seem to be losing fine...

Sorry, I'm learning too and have a bunch of questions

Carri, honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. If you stall for a long period of time, then that might be something that you need to look at, but don't make it harder than it has to be. Just keep doing what you're doing.

I don't weigh my meat but stop when I am full but usually it is about 4 oz per meal which I think is about what Adkins suggests. For me, I would choose a fattier cut of beef and definitely leave the skin on the chicken. You want the fat. Somebody on here said something which really stuck with me. And that is: Adkins is called High protein/ Low Carb but it is really High Fat/Low Carb. So you want the fattier cuts and don't loose the fat in cooking.
I don't see any vegetables on your list. You have a lot of room for carbs so you might want to think about that. The nutrients and good digestion from the fiber in the vegetables are all good.
Make sure you eat breakfast first in the morning. I think it ramps up your metabolism from the get go. 2-3 eggs and 4-5 bacon or sausage with no carbs or sugar (easy to find).

Meme, she's doing Atkins 72, and we don't eat many, if any, veggies on Atkins 72. In the beginning anyway, we try to stay at a biological zero.

Sorry I didn't know that Adkins72 is 0 carbs. I'm doing the 90s version Adkins New Diet Revolution, where I get 20g carb for induction which I am staying on.

Induction 20g carbs?

Is there anywhere on this site where the people are doing the regular Adkins New Diet Revolution 90s-2002 Induction with 20g of carbs? I thought that this thread was it but apparently I was wrong again.

Hi Meme I don't do strict Atkins '72, but I have read all the Atkins books. I keep my carbs under 20 total (not net) because that's what works best for me. I do eat veggies, but usually only with dinner because that's easiest for me as it's the only meal during the week that I eat with my family (and they want more than just meat/fat lol). I would be happy to chat with you if you're looking for an induction buddy. I'm on day 6 of induction (re-start), and finally not feeling like the wicked witch of the west lol....

thanks everyone. My birthday was on Fri. I went out to eat and got myself all out of Ketosis. I did not eat any bad carbs. I stayed on plan eating wise. I did have a lite beer on draft before dinner, and a glass of Merlot with dinner. I felt so bad the next day. Back on track. I won't weigh til Tues. night after I get up for work. Trying to read all the posts, but with work it is hard. No time to do nothing it seems. I will keep on keeping on. The final results will be so worth it. (been here before and stayed quite a while!)

Well thank goodness for only having one b'day a year!! By your next b'day you'll be at goal if you continue eating clean! Wishing you much success as you continue your personal LC WOE journey!

Vessel, don't worry overmuch about the protein!! The macros (is that what they are called?) will make you stress OUT!! I eat a heck of a lot of protein sometimes upwards of 20 oz a day (actual weight of the protein) and I haven't had problems losing... Like MG said, don't worry about it, if you are eating clean you will lose weight. Until you run into problems losing weight (several weeks of stalling) then you may want to look at other factors.

In A '72, I don't remember Dr. A saying anything about eating too much protein... if someone has seen it, let me know!

Thanks Niki, I just saw your post. Yes 20g of carb vegetables is what I am doing. Although I am doing the 2002 version and not the 40 year old one, it does have net carbs but I prefer to count all carbs. It's ealier that way and if I have extra carbs to spare, that's good...

I mistrust what Dr. Oz says, he's got some rather "interesting" notions. Remember ejw, I eat a lot of protein and still managed to lose 142 pounds so if it slowed me down, I have no IDEA when!!!
