May Challenge

Well I hope I have done this right as I have never started a new thread before lol.....and whoop whoop its May 1st.

My goal for May is to get to 140

May 1st 146 3 days at the same weight is killing me.

But onwards we go and when we look back to where we were at the beginning of April we can see it was all worth it for definite even though its slow going.
Hope we all have an amazing Month.

Shelly, that made me laugh....squirrels and rabbits lol........and then you said 'oh yum' laughing that was funny, but I am sure you meant it lol....well if ever the grid were to go down I am coming to your house lol.

Skinny B12.....That is my favourite way of eating....raw food and juicing, I did it for about two years and my energy was off the charts, unfortunately I ended up being anaemic and B12 deficient.....but I know when I am into maintenance I am going to give it another shot, only this time having some meat and taking B12 etc....I hope you are having fun as its a great way to eat....and that energy feeling you get is totally amazing.....let us know how you are doing...

I would love to join the May challenge! My goal for May is to get to 199. My son graduates high school on June 5 and I'd love to be at least back to the weight I was for my first son's graduation in 2012. So....ONEderland here I come!

I joined the April Challenge and then pretty much lurked all month. I did lose 7lbs tho. At the beginning of the month I had doubts that this plan could work for me or be healthy for me. I forget who suggested to someone else to read WHY WE GET FAT by Gary Taubes and THE ART AND SCIENCE OF LOW CARB LIVING by Phinney & Volek but I decided that I needed to read these. I am so glad I did!! I am confident in this way of eating now. It all makes sense to me

So today I join the May Challenge and I'm all in.

May 1 297.7

My goal for this month is to get to the 280's.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Ha-ha. Well, it couldn't hurt!! No worries on the stick cause sometimes I go a week or more and then out of nowhere 2 lbs in one week??

Nothing but coffee last night.... not a drop of water. Hmm, I wonder if my body just loves water so much it keeps it all. I was just thinking this same thing happens when I eat lettuce, albeit romane but the same thing happens and lettuce is very high in water right??? Better not go swimming or I might blow up like the Michelin Man

Bonnie its just weird how these things have an effect on you....lol that was funny about the swimming.
I am tweaking things today as a few days ago I stopped eating boiled eggs with mayo during the day and have been eating a chicken drumstick etc....so today I have gone back to eggs to see if that will make a difference....I was feeling a bit egged out....so now I am egging it again lol....I will do anything and eat anything to make these dratted scales move, but when I was eating eggs in the day and meat for dinner with my 2 cups of lettuce it was working....interesting seeing what works for us and what doesn't.....but the coffee thing is funny....and the water thing is funny and weird lol.

Today 166 and my goal for the month is 155! The 31st is my daughters birthday and we have people coming in from out of town....

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I can't believe how much I love this WOE. My sister has invited me on a 'date' next Saturday (we don't get to spend much time together what with life being in the way so I'm super stoked!) and she asked me about what I'll do about eating. Normally I would say I'm eating whatever the heck I want....and, actually, I did say that again but added ....without carbs! WOOT! I NEVER would have done that on a Low Calorie diet, I would have gone hog wild and eaten everything under the sun because I had an 'excuse'. The awesome thing now is that I don't need an excuse!

I simply LOVE IT! Rock on!!!

Starting out the month horribly. I made paleo banana bread that I found on the food porn thread. I'm experimenting with some foods for my daughter so its not something I would normally make. But one bite turned into two slices and I'm up 3 lbs because of it. I might as well have eaten a slice of cake. The ingredients look low carb friendly, but my body just can't handle almond flour and coconut flour. So I get to start this month out at 199.4. I saved a little of the bread for my daughter but the rest went to my diabetic uncle. I love this way of life, I just hate how eating one wrong food can be so unforgiving. At least the bread was good tasting.

Bulldogmom, I'm not going anywhere! Losing the weight is only the beginning , keeping it off will be a lifetime journey, and I will definitely need the support and help from my friends here. Don't let the bread upset you. Banana bread is so hard to resist! So you learned not to make that again, and that little blip on the scale will come right back off. Don't let it discourage you!

Complete a 2 week Atkins Induction
Join a gym (done! Joined with a buddy today)

That's it. Not going to set specific weight goals. Staying on plan is enough for me right now.

Hello, I'd like to join as well. I started Induction on April 14th at 208 and today after 17 days I'm at 198.4 lbs. I'm trying to stay as close to induction as possible. I do make the revolution rolls with mayo but that is listed as ok for induction. I made two kinds - one for sandwiches/burgers and one as a dessert that I throw a little heavy whipped cream on. I do not count NET carbs because it doesn't work for me. I tried it before with Atkins bars and could not lose a thing! So, for me it's total carbs, not net.

I'm not sure what my goal is for May. My 42nd birthday is on May 14th which would also mark one month on plan. I'll go with a reasonable goal of 8 lbs. which would take me to 190.4. That's 2 lbs. per week.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Bonny i'm having to start from scratch! Ever since I quit smoking, thyroid messed up etc and I gained almost 20 lbs what I was eatting Prior to all that isn't working anymore. Why? Crap if I know Lol!
So i've started over today. Try more fats and maybe a smaller supper and see if it helps. It'll be a trial and error but i'll get there!

I'm still around

Hello everyone...been sitting here trying to catch up on all the posts I have missed. It's been a LONG time & I missed everyone. I had a MAJOR deadline at work which resulted in me working late days, etc & I possibly will become a foster mom for a 10 week old baby soon; I have been battling with the courts, etc. To sum it up, LIFE has been happening. I fell off Atkins '72 but didn't gain any weight. I am super excited about that. My goal is to get back on plan and remain on it.

Mthrgoos---Congratulations on making it! Great motivation!

Well, we can always get back at it, eh. Sometimes life just does get in the way and how you managed to quit smoking while doing this is beyond me! That was a bigger accomplishment than not being at goal right now. The stricter I get with my WOE, the more I'm smoking so the fact you were doing both at the same time just boggles my mind!! I wish you nothing but success and boy, do I know if you put your mind to it... YOU WILL DO IT!!!

Thanks Bonny-Jean and MtherGoos for the support! I think what is the most upsetting about that bread, is that it was supposed to be low carb friendly. More paleo than atkins but at some point, I would be adding some things back in my diet. So I'm disappointed that all of the different types of flours still would cause me to gain.

Kway, Welcome back! Good job on not gaining. I think losing weight is the easy part, maintaining what you lost is the real challenge.

Shelly, I feel like I'm starting over too.....every dang day its a re-start. LOL If I don't stick to the foods that I know, then it screws me up. My safe foods I can count on one hand.
