Gracie that was a good post listing all of those items wow....really cool.
I was shocked at what has caffeine! Chocolate slim-fast?? I would have never though that. Ben & Jerry's choc coffee flavored frozen yogurt has 85 grams of caffeine?? I'm very sensitive to caffeine and it give me the jitters. I drink one 16 ounce cup in the AM and it's half decaf/half regular. It's amazing where they sneak it into!!!

You can wrap your stuff in aluminum foil and heat it on your car engine. then when you get where your going its hot!

I have no skin on one knuckle, a bruised shin, and possibly a broken toe. Who knew paying in the kiddie pools was so dangerous.

I wonder how my run will go tonight. Maybe its just jammed. I dont know how to tell the difference.

Also it is Nurses week so if any of you are nurses HAPPY NURSES WEEK. We are doing a Mexican Fiesta here today in honor of nurses. I am eating the hottest most amazing green chili I think I have ever had. No idea what hat I will wear on hat day tomorrow.

Does anyone else walk around with butter on the front of their shirt? I think I'm going to have to start wearing bibs when I eat.

So after reading through the '72 thread, I realize that I'm pretty close to eating according to that plan. (When I don't have a slip-up that is.) I would just have to switch out my cabbage with cucumbers on the days I feel like eating veggies. Otherwise my main meals of hamburger, chicken wings, steak and eggs seem to go along with it. I'm now frying up my own chicken wings and covering them in butter, a little garlic salt and a little parmesan cheese. I'm thinking about giving it an honest go since you can't argue with the successes of MtherGoos, Bonny-Jean and others.

Bulldogmom....72 is the best way to get the weight off quicker, everyone told me that when I first joined the Feb challenge but I didn't listen lol, but when I tried it a while ago the weight just started falling off......I am going back to it this coming weekend to lose the last seven pounds. I got used to it really quickly and it was easy....yes you only have to see how far Mthrgoos and Bonnie have come to see it works....you will soon be a skinny Minnie lol.

Gracie....wow that was amazing to read about all the caffeine in things, who would have thought they would even put it in ice cream, and how many parents have the time to read all the ingredients..... I can only drink decaf coffee, decaf coke, decaf tea lol, but I will pass all that info onto my daughter who has four children, thanks for posting it all....I am the same, one cup of real coffee and I don't know what to do with myself lol, the jitters are awful, we ran out of decaf coffee a few mornings ago and so I tried a real one...I won't do it again lol.
One of the cashiers in our supermarket was telling me on Saturday of all the alcohol they are now putting in ice creams....some of the ice creams you have to be over 18 to buy....really weird, it makes you wonder what they are going to be doing to our food next.

Would decaf coffee hold hunger away?? Is it the caffeine that does that?? If so, I could go to a decaf in the evening but I'd still have to have caffeinated in the morning. What do you think??

It is really weird about the ice cream though, they are selling it in the supermarkets according to this cashier, I am going to have a look on Saturday just to see, they have these special codes on them so when it goes through the checkout the cashier has to check your id, the same with ibuprofen over here, it is flagged, you have to be over a certain age to buy it and you are only allowed 2 packages of 16 ibuprofen at a time lol I couldn't believe it when we got back from Canada and wanted a big bottle of ibuprofen ...now why did I bring that up lol....

LOL. Now that is just bizarre!!! Are they gonna put crack in the candy too? I just don't get it! How do you keep "adult" ice cream from little ones? Strange.

NEW DISCOVERY

Well, for me anyway. My supermarket was out of Silk Original Almond Unsweetened at 1 carb per cup so decided to try their "new" Silk Almond/Coconut Blend unsweetened and it's <1 carb per cup. If anyone uses Almond Milk, this blend is even better. OMG, it tastes so good. I was having trouble with the Almond Milk cause it does taste very almondy (if that's a word). Anyway, I don't know if the coconut kind of neutralizes the almond taste but it's just devine. I really don't taste coconut at all. It just seems to mellow out the almond taste. It really is good. Any coffee drinkers looking for a delicious way to reduce the calories of hwc should give this a try. I recommend it 100%. Thank you Mthergoos for getting me off the hwc. I now have my hwc and Almond/Coco down to a 80/20 split mix, next week maybe 100% Almond/Coco blend.

Bonny-Jean, Forgive me as my memory is shot. But was hwc stalling you? I'm worried about almond milk stalling me since I can't lose when I eat just a small portion of nuts.

First of all, I drink too much coffee in the winter but thankfully I don't make a strong coffee at home and I don't drink coffee anywhere else. Secondly I was going thru at least 1/2 CUP of hwc a day so I don't think it was anything other than the wicked amount of calories I was getting just from hwc. I never would have believed that I would drink coffee with hwc but the more I drank of that stuff... the more I wanted. I'm no scientist BulldogMom but you're not drinking the "meat" of the nut, just the crushed liquid from it. Again, I'm not sure the milk of the almond would have the same effect as consuming the FIBER from the meat of nut itself. Do you know what I'm tryna say?? I think it would be the fiber that would stall or show on the scale. I could be the "poster child" for this product. If you look it up, you won't believe how awesome good it is for a body. I think a whole cup is only like 30 CALORIES!!! WHAT???
It shows <1 carb per cup on the label, less than a carb a cup.... WOW!!! It's absolutely LOADED with vitamins and minerals. Now I believe the Almond/Coconut blend is one of the most pleasant tastes I've found, I am sold for life. Why not just try it for one week and if you see unpleasant results well then you know you may be too sensitive to it but I really have my doubts you would see a negative reaction. Let me know if you decide to give it a try. I'm confident you wouldn't be disappointed.

BulldogMom - Green Chili is a Mexican dish. Its probably the lowest carb thing you can eat in Mexico but would not be under 20. Main components are green Chili's and Pork. If done right its like a stew. If done really right it has a nice burn to it and clears your sinuses. Looks like this....

So maintaining isn't going to bad, I am kind of missing the little competition I have with myself though of seeing the scales going down etc, another couple of days and I am going back on 72 to get a bit lower into the 140's and then will try maintaining again.

Today a sunny day thankfully, but those talkative workmen are back so I'm not looking forward to that, unreal how much tea they can drink, that's british workmen for you lol.

Sheila well done on your losses, hope everyone else gets a loss this morning.

Cut the HWC and the flavored waters yesterday to see if my losses would increase. I lost a pound! Will continue without those for a few more days and see if the rate of loss continues. I usually find it hard to drink just plain water but I did ok yesterday.

I LOVE almond milk!! I will have to go looking for that one with the coconut mixed with it. Wonder if you could make ice cream using that? The Vet I work for is a diabetic and he told me yesterday that ice cream is the only thing he really misses. I'm not going to mess with anything like that right now (don't want to trip myself up) but I think eventually I will experiment with it.

Hope everyone has a good day today!

Happy Losing>

Good morning everyone!

Sandy - I can't believe that about the ice cream, I'm sure that kind of thing will make its way stateside soon enough, but the age to buy would be 21 here. We don't have the restrictions you do on ibuprofen but do have it on certain cold medicines (I think). Apparently illegal substances can be manufactured out of the ingredients in some of these meds so what is an over the counter medication still requires a trip to the pharmacy and your photo ID. So irritating that the crooks make everything difficult on the law-abiding folks.

Sheila -Amazing job!!

Bonny-Jean - I'm a coffee freak too, used to drink it literally from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed switching from caffeinated to decaffeinated around mid-day. Now I drink 2 cups of caffeinated in the morning and 1 cup of decaffeinated in the evening (my treat for the night - I use sugar free Hazelnut Creamer...OMG YUM!). I'm telling you, it was HARD to back off drinking coffee all day, I was not a nice person for a few days. LOL

Ok, I'll stop babbling - on to today's stats:

May 1 - 207.2
May 2 - 206.6
May 3 - 206.2
May 4 - 206.0
May 5 - 204.8
May 6 - 204.4

Wait for it...just wait for it...the upswing is a comin, haven't had one in six days, so it's a comin! But, I will bask in the loss right now...LOL So, today marks 4 weeks with this WOE and my total loss is 15.6 pounds! I will take it! On to week 5!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Have a great day!

Morning All

Sandy: That's the wonderful thing about Atkins is that you can go back and forth, try something new and if it doesn't work you can go back again for awhile. Again, a lifelong commitment to keeping the weight OFF!!

Kimber: I've become absolutely anal about reading labels. Nothing goes in my cart anymore without reading everything. I'm very confident that if Silk products were available 40 YRS ago, Dr. Atkins would have approved. As I'm 8 months into Induction and slowing down, it is time to start taking calories into effect. I would never put myself into a calorie deficit but I do have to start being mindful of them. Try not to think about things like ice cream right now and just stick to your eggs, meat, cheese and oils. You will be happier with yourself if you do and it will show, just give it time. KUTGW!!

Candy: Oh, I'm so with you on the coffee!!

Thanks for all of that info Bonny-Jean! I will try and find the blend you are using. If nothing else, it might help my dd who is still having stomach issues. Speaking of coconuts, I gave the dogs one to play with. I didn't realize that the meat part was healthy for them also.

Girley37, Could you pack deviled eggs or a tuna/chicken salad in a lunch cooler? That would be far better than having to rely on Atkins bars. Your putting in too much time and effort to let something like a protein bar stall you. Some people even stop at a drive-thru for a burger minus the buns. Good luck!

Gracie, I think caffeine helps my losses. As long as I don't have so much that I'm kept awake at night, its all good.

Sandy, I don't think I'll ever be a skinny minny. I was blessed/cursed with way to many curves. LOL I'm going to eat my veggies until losses slow down then maybe I'll cut them out. But the 72 plan sounds easy. I did a meat and egg fast before and it wasn't bad at all. I think you're doing great maintaining and will probably see a loss soon. I think maintaining is the bigger challenge. But I get how unnerving it can be to not see the scale move at all.

Sheila, Congrats on your great loss!

James, Thanks for posting that picture of the chili. It looks really good even though I'm not one that can handle spicy foods.

Kimber, Nice drop!

Candy, That's an amazing amount for 4 wks! You are doing great!

Bonny-Jean, You're doing great at maintaining also! I bet your body is preparing for another whoosh.

I wanted to share with my LCF friends that I have discovered an awesome source of potassium for leg cramps! Look for food-grade potassium bicarbonate (it is sold as a vintner's supply item). I got mine on eBay but they sell it at Amazon or you can buy it direct from a brewer's or vintner's supply store. I got ONE POUND of the stuff for $7.50. 1/2 tsp in a glass of water is approx. 800 mg potassium. Wayyyyy cheaper than buying potassium pills, more bioavailable, and it has other health benefits because it's bicarbonate (similar to baking soda). I would be cautious about adding it to juice because it's a bicarbonate and juices are acidic. Might create a juice volcano, lol! But it didn't taste particularly horrible in plain water, so it wasn't a problem to drink it.
