I want to stay between 145 and 150, so this time I will get down to 145 and then have a third attempt at it.....obviously I am a slow learner lol.

Bonny-Jean - I think the dentist that did the root canal cracked the tooth when doing the procedure. His x-rays were taken prior to the procedure. I called the original dentist yesterday morning and I told them I wanted to bring him back there because if I went to a different place I'd have to pay for the extraction. The receptionist said Well, you'd have to pay for it if you came here too. I said "WHAT?!?, why would I have to pay for it when I've just shelled out $200 for an unnecessary root canal?" She couldn't answer me so I went on to say "Who's to say your dentist didn't know in advance that the tooth needed to come out but decided to do an unnecessary procedure to collect the money for that, then say 'oh, that tooth needs to come out now' and charge me for another procedure?" Her response - "I'll have the financial person call you on Friday". LOL Good grief.

Good news is that the tooth is out and he's feeling much better.

Princessmommy - I fear the dentist too, but he absolutely LOVED the oral surgeon he saw yesterday, apparently she had a great sense of humor....oh...and Nitrous LMAO!

Hockeymum - Thanks! It's hard to find a dentist I can fully trust, I won't be going back to that office, for sure!

Colleen & tcircle -WELCOME!

Nikki - You hit your goal!! Congrats!

Gracie, Mthergoos and Sandy - Thank you, I just hope I stay here! LOL Gracie, I'm only 2 hours from Deep Creek yet I've never been, I've lived in MD for 43 years..how do you like that? I really need to put it on my bucket list, too many people I know rave about it.

Baddabing - I miss the gym, I actually belong to one right now but won't go because of my size. When I signed up it was a new gym and they insisted that they weren't going to be the 'meathead' gym Gold's is known for being. They were going to cater more to the older crowd with the classes they offer and the various workout areas. Well, that totally didn't happen and some very lumpy people overpower the equipment during the times I'm able to go. BUT, my youngest is graduating in a few weeks and I will be able to go to the gym in the morning so I'm looking forward to that!

Sandy - I imagine maintenance is much harder than losing only because of the frustration of finding exactly what works to keep you within a certain weight range. BUT...I look forward to getting there!

Happy Hump Day everyone....toothless son has an award ceremony this evening, he's getting an award for his video production work, he's very good at it. His dream job is being a director but for now he'll go on to college to work on video production, editing, etc. With YouTube being the new Hollywood, his chances of succeeding in that field continue to grow!

good morning! I did not sleep well last night, been up since 3am. I have been going to bed earlier than normal because I always feel tired quicker when I'm eating LC. Well in the first couple days anyhow. But idk why I woke up that early wide awake, but now I'm tired again.I weighed at my moms yesterday but no change yet, but I'm still motivated. I will buy myself a scale soon.
yesterday I had
breakfast: scrambled eggs (2), sausage, coffee w/1 stivia packet & 2T half &half
lunch : grilled chicken, romaine & kale & baby spinach, 1 boiled egg, 2T ranch
dinner: same as lunch plus a handful of cucumber slices
lots of water through out the day

I haven't ate any snacks or anything but I may stop eating the boiled eggs in salad and eat them as snacks. How does my menu look? probably too many veggies for induction? The salad greens equal 2 cups per meal and I think it's supposed to be 2 cups per day. I will cut back next week if I'm not losing by then.

Good grief is right!!! Hey, wouldn't surprise me a bit that the crack was either seen or caused. Not like he's gonna admit he caused a problem. If I didn't get a free extraction out of this, I would be advising that I will be contacting the Board of Dentistry (if you have such a thing in the US) and putting in a grievance with them. He's at fault either way!! Either he didn't notice an existing crack or he caused it... both negligence!!!

On a high note.... congrats to your ds for his upcoming award and also congrats to Mama for yet another drop!!! Whoo-hoo!!

Hmm, don't know what version/year Atkins you're doing but I had a problem with Ranch and/or romaine. Your menu looks like a low calorie woe??? Keep the eggs for sure! Maybe change the 1/2 & 1/2 to hwc. On '72 I think we're allowed up to 2 c. of loosely packed greens a day. I don't see much protein there??? Really not fats at all??? Not surprised you're hungry and not feeling well. Add some fatty meats in there maybe??

Sandy, I fear trying a full time maintenance. Part of me knows there's a bunch of food out there that doesn't agree with my body and then there's the part of me that might not be tamed when its set free. LOL I think I'll keep eating the way I am now but will add the odd LC recipe every now and then for fun. But really I'll just watch you, MtherGoos and Bonny-Jean to see how you all are handling it.

Bonny-Jean, I'm lazy too! I get moments of feeling like Superwoman and then I might do the odd exercise. Last year I was exercising every day and loving it. I'm still waiting for that euphoria to kick back in. I read an old article in Woman's World (because they're so trustworthy) that said walking 10 min, three times a day was better than 30 minutes all at once. I keep meaning to give it a try.

Candy, Glad your son is better! Can't wait to see his youtube videos when he makes them. We're on there everyday looking at stuff. Mostly cat videos......LOL

Morning All

Hey SANDY: boy, I don't envy you and Shelly trying to carve out a maintenance program for yourselves. It's been said it's harder than the induction phase. I'm not looking forward to it myself. Hang in there darlings cause you'll get it and you will be okay. You've persevered all these months so you'll figure it out, I'm very sure of that!

BulldogMom: short, sweet and to the point "my scale mocks me" Funny lady!!

Have to head out to the country (1/2 hr) away right after work today and pick my flagstone to replace my 1 yr old front sidewalk. Don't like what the guy did last year. Then have to get back to the city by 5 for my bleach job. Then take ds out for a bite then prep the body for a spray tan and pedi early tomorrow morning. Oooooooo, so excited to see my cous tomorrow!!!

OMG, just looked at the clock.... gonna be late for work. Sorry, I've been way to chatty the last couple of days. Have a good one, y'all!!!

ok, I will have a bacon cheese burger for lunch today, no bun of course. I guess I thought the grilled chicken, eggs and cheese were enough protein? I need to get my atkins book out again. oh, I forgot to add cheese to my menu....I had a sprinkle of cheddar cheese for each meal.

Leanne - WHOO! Awesome month!!! Congrats!

Sorry really behind.. Saw some other great losses in there.. Congrats everyone!

Hit a rough patch. Having some major hormone issues which we can't seem to fix or find but it's wreaking havoc with my weight loss. Gained 3lbs this weekend for no reason. It's causing me to be more reckless with my diet, which hasn’t resulted in additional gains but obviously no losses either.. Still trying to drop the unwarranted 3lbs from the weekend.. Feeling really, really frustrated.. (Or maybe that’s the hormones) 

I fell like my hormones are all over the place too. Have you had any tests done? I'm being tested for few things but I'm worried nothing will be found. If my tests all come back normal, I'm hoping to be seen by an endocrinologist.

tcircle.... one of the joys of Atkins is it's OKAY TO EAT!!! Enjoy some fatty cuts of meats and poultry with some coconut or olive oil and put some mayo on those eggs or cook them in butter. It really is ok!! Sometimes not enough fat can cause your scale to stall. I think FAT is the big component on Atkins so don't be afraid of it. On THIS woe, fat is your friend! Really.

Potassium question: I need to not watch Dr. Oz. lo l. I also read that too much magnesium and too much potassium can cause heart problems. How does one know how much is too much. Cant afford to have any labs run....

I've never heard of Magnesium causing heart problems but definitely Potassium. If I ever take too much Magnesium all I get is rewarded too much on the potty . The Potassium supplements I have are only 100 mg and one banana is 400 mg. I take anywhere between 4-8 per day. This WOE is known for causing low potassium because of the diuretic effect. That's why sometimes we get foot/leg cramps. So if you aren't having any leg/foot cramps I wouldn't worry about supplementing. But if you're like me, I get them if I don't supplement. HTH

Still haven't weighed yet so nothing to report. TOM is due in a couple days so the scale is a beast anyway. I can tell it's almost here because last night I kept crying watching Dancing with the Stars

Trying to keep it simple today but my head wants chocolate whoopie pies!!!

I had a boat load of tests done but they didn't really know what they were looking for because my symptoms are a little strange (pelvic/cervical pain, lymph swelling).. Everything came back clear but I just recently started to put 2 & 2 together and notice these things are showing up about a week before TOM. Waiting to get in to a Gyno, but may wander my way back for additional testing now that I have a better grasp on whats causing it.
Hope everything works out well on your end.. There is sure nothing more frustrating then having them tell you they can't find the source of the issue.

Thanks Bonny! Of course, it will probably take 2 months to lose that last pound! LOL But that's ok, I'll keep at it. Honestly, I almost thought my scale was broken, but I can feel that my stomach is flatter, and I measured my waist and I'm just a little above 28", so I know I actually am losing fat. When I hit that 150, I'm posting a big picture of my scale!

I have no advice but wanted to give you a hug! My sister had something like this and it was a cyst. They did a procedure and removed it for her. But if your periods are normal I wouldn't worry about it. Her periods were all wonky. I hope they figure it out!

WOW!!! You are so close. What are you going to do for maintenance? Start increasing your carbs each week? I can't even fathom what it would be like to NOT be trying to lose weight

Gracie, my plan is to just slowly start adding some veggies back in. Lettuce, mushrooms, onions, garlic, things like that. But just a little each week to see how I do. I may increase my calories slightly too, but we'll see. That's my plan any way, we'll see how it works out!

Female hormones are horrible. I hope your gyno gets this fixed for you. I have pcos and know my hormones have to be out of whack. The problem is, the only drs ever willing to do anything about it were my infertility drs and I'm no longer trying to get pregnant. Every gyno around here stays busy and it takes months to get an appt. I like my family dr but I wonder if he could handle getting my female hormones in line. I believe he could deal with things if it were my thyroid which I'm hoping for. But I had a thyroid test done in October and it was normal.
