Did I ask that out loud??? I can't remember. Oh girl, I'm getting wrinkles like crazy! Noticed some on my cheek, tummy and then inside my bicep.
I guess the fat was hiding the age??? I'd rather have a few wrinkles than 100 lbs anyday!!

I'm right there with you both Bonny and Sandy. Since losing the weight, I feel like I look so much older! Every time I look in the mirror, I swear I see my mother looking back at me!

grrrls. fillers can fix those wrinkles. surgery can too. botox may help. retinol may help.
most over the counter potions are just that - I call them magic potions.

Okay, James and Paleo can cover their ears now. DairyQueen is right. Fillers are miracle workers. They are expensive, but the thrill you get when you look in the mirror and those nose to mouth brackets are gone (okay, nasolabial folds to be correct) is worth every penny. I had the lines on either side of my mouth done the year I turned 50, and honestly, they still look good and it's been 4 years. As we age, whether losing weight or not, we lose fat on our face and our cheeks literally fall in, unless you have wonderful bone structure -- which I don't. I've had my cheeks done a couple of times and it takes away the undereye bags too. So now I save up and do it every couple of years. Botox smooths 5 years off your forehead. I know it sounds really shallow, but I do believe if you look good you feel good, and I was so self conscious of my face falling. My husband doesn't have a clue I do any of this...lol. He just thinks I look great for someone who's 8 years older than him!

Tonight I'm at my cottage alone, drinking rum and diet coke. I have no wine here and I read that rum has no carbs, might just be my new go to drink, although someone just posted that you don't lose any fat until you burn the alcohol off. I only had 7 carbs total today (not net), so hopefully it won't mess me up too much. I sound like an alcoholic, sitting alone drinking, but I came up here for a Town Council meeting regarding a property adjacent to mine, and now I need a drink

Thanks all for your help and advice, I have to say hockeymom that sounds amazing, I read your post and felt excited lol, wow so they can get rid of the lines between the nose and mouth as well, oh my gosh....it definitely doesn't sound shallow to me lol, I have looked after my skin all my life always used expensive oils etc and have done really well keeping all the lines at bay until now which I think is why it came as such a shock as the lines didn't come really gradually over a few years, it was like I woke up and there they were.
I love that your dh doesn't even know you have it done lol, that is brilliant, anyway thanks for posting about it all, there is place down our little town and I am sure they must do things like that so I will pop in there in the coming week and find out about it all, its nice to know there is hope for my sagging skin lol.

Mthrgoos....oh no not your mother lol.....I think you look fabulous.

Bonnie....I didn't see that waffle on your pic lol......that was funny, yhea I am with you on wanting to be skinny as well, I know its more important, its nice to know there is hope for the lines though.....I never thought I would consider doing something like botox but I know after reading hockeymoms post I definitely want it done.....oh yes the inside arms at the top definitely getting saggy and a bit crinkled....ugh I hate it, but at least there are t shirts that can cover that, I feel I need a bag for my head lol.

Oooo turning back the clock! Yes, can agree with btx as have been doing my forehead for around four years now (though, have grown immune to two strains so its not really working anymore). I haven't yet tried fillers but sculptra is a good introduction.

In terms of general upkeep, best options - 1% retinol to increase the thickness of your skin (pm if you want a site to buy from), regular microdermabrasion followed by peels, sunscreen every every every day! Important products: vitamin c serum (obagi, skinceuticals, dmk or medik8), b5 hydrating serum, pigmentation cream if thats a problem, moisturiser. My lady recommends the new Obagi Zo products for slightly older skin, I like dmk and obagi. Best sunscreen is Heliocare. Dermaroller is excellent when using the serums.

Makeup tip - apply a hyaulronic product in a base (byTerry does powders and primers) as it plumps up the skin by keeping moisture in.

Sandy - pm if you are looking at getting any of the above lines as I have a great website to get them from, they give free uk delivery and ship from w yorks.

Am hoping for a drop today but know its unlikely given its tom... Anyway, fingers crossed we get our first hot and sunny wknd!

Geez, I wish I knew what you girls were talking about... fillers and such?? I'm gonna hafta research that cause I haven't a clue?? Sounds like auto body work to me. I've never been much of a "girly-girl" and have never looked after my skin so I'm not really surprised but the fact they've only shown in the last month or so is what's disturbing! I only put sunscreen on last weekend for the first time in my life and only started using body lotion a few months ago. When the sun is shining I can be outside for 8-10 hrs a day. I guess between lack of care, too much sun, smoking and age, it is what it is.

Wondering if I have any wrinkles lurking under all this fat on my face?! It'll be interesting to see! My skin on my neck is getting loose. Any ideas what to use on necks?

Lunesta--BAD stuff for me! Only took it for 3 days. Did not like the way I felt during the day after taking it. I'm not sure I really want to take a drug to help me sleep. Going to do some research and see if maybe a deficiency in some vitamin or mineral can cause insomnia.

Hope everyone has a good day today!

Blech. We were running around to dr appts and errands so we stopped at Burger King. I ate a bunless whopper, half of a side salad and 2 small onion rings. But my eating could always have been worse and the number on that scale could always be worse.

I have an issue that I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on. Last May I had a hysterectomy, kept my ovaries. I had started LCing about the end of March. Sometime in the fall I started noticing my hair was thinner but attributed it to the hysterectomy and everything temporarily out of whack. My hair has continuously gotten thinner and over the past week, I've noticed my eye lashes falling out. This morning I woke up and had SEVEN on me. Now I'm panicking. I'm going to be making an appt with my dr and dermatologist but wanted to know what you all thought. I take multivitamins and biotin among other things. I don't know if its diet related, surgery related (doubtful), pcos related, or my thyroid (never had issues before). Any thoughts?

I've never been a girly girl either. I'm half Asian so we never used sunblock.... we just tanned. But now at 39, I'm seeing all kinds of sun spots popping up. For the first time in my life, I bought a foundation to try and help hide the imperfections. But I think I chose a shade too light because I look like a geisha girl in all of my pics. But my hair and my skin are my focus at the moment. When I drop this weight, don't think for a second my vain butt wouldn't go get skin removal surgery. My stomach is a mess from all of the surgeries I've had in my lifetime.

Oh, you're just a youngin' BulldogMom!! Never been thru what you have but I'm doubtful your hair issues are surgery related. I'd get to your dr. and have some tests run. Funny about the geisha thing! I think I have foundation at home but can't remember if I've ever used it??

Thanks Bonny-Jean! My 8 yr old thinks I'm 28. She told me the other day that I was old, but not dead yet. I told the brat she wasn't getting Christmas presents this year. I made my dr's appt for Tuesday so hopefully he can help. I first thought it could be related to my hysterectomy because women have said that it can shut you ovaries down temporarily but it only lasted for about 3 months. I'm thinking about all of the other things going on and trying to figure out what's related. Being tired all of the time (I do have kids), being more hungry than usual (I do like to eat), I had a hard time keeping warm this past winter (but we did get socked with those polar vortexes) and knee joint pain (I'm getting older though). I can't blame my weight gain this past winter on anything but me and my lack of commitment.

Morning, everyone!

Tiggy, hockeymum, i agree!
Bulldog..sometimew i've thought my hair was falling out more than usual, as i lost weight, but it really was nothing. There IS a product that will grow lashes, but you can't stop taking it and it sometimes has odd side effects (like eyelid skin sometimes changing color).

Ok off to work!

Yeah, kids are so funny eh!!! Hmm, I guess having a hysterectomy can wreak havoc with your hormones for sure. Definitely have to get that checked!! My Aunty's been on estrogen replacement patches for years since she had the same thing done so hopefully some tests will fix this for you. I've been quite cold myself the last month or so and was wondering if it was because I'm losing all my insulation???

Good morning everyone! Oh boy, let's not talk about abusing our skin in the sun! Being part Native American, I tan very easily, and since I live in a place where it's already getting up to 107, and will be in the 120s by next month, I love to tan as much as possible. Like Bonny, I'm also guilty of not using sun screen.

Bulldogmom , I had my hysterectomy in July, and I am hypothyroid , and no problems with hair loss. I am always cold, but that's normal for me.

Dq, I knew you would have great info to offer!

Where are James and Paleoguy?

Congrats on the losses everybody!

I've always had thick hair so having a bunch falling out isn't unusual. But when I pull my hair in together, there is a noticeable difference in the amount that I have. When my hair is down, you can see through it where I couldn't before. I hope that makes sense. My eyelashes are a completely different story. I would notice one fall out once in a blue moon, but lately I'm finding a bunch on my face. This morning I woke up with 7 on my face and that is unheard of for me. I don't believe I've ever had 2 at a time. I have pcos so my hormones are probably all over the place again. But since I'm not trying to get pregnant, I'm not sure what they would, could do about it.

Sandy I'm glad you found the filler info interesting. Because I honestly tried to go back in and delete my post later last night. I thought maybe it was TMI and do I really want people knowing I get stuff done. Too late, apparently you can only delete a post for an hour....lol.

I think we scared off James and Paleo Guy with all this talk. Guys don't have to worry, they look distinguished, we just look haggard.!

I spend a ton of time in the sun because I try to spend most of the summer at the cottage. I am religious about sunscreen now on my face because I really see the texture of my skin changing. I've never smoked, and my friends who do smoke have way more wrinkles than I do (before I did anything), apparently smoking takes oxygen from the skin and by 45 you can almost always tell a smoker from a non smoker by their skin. I know alcohol is bad for the skin (and not induction friendly either) but I like to have a glass of wine.

Thanks for all the skin care advice Tiggy, I'm going to look for some of those products. I really like Skin Biology products, very reasonable compared to Perricone etc, and when I first started using them I had 3 or 4 people comment on my skin (guys even!) after 3 days of use. I've run out and really should reorder.

My rum and coke evening didn't seem to add any weight. Still at 128 this morning. Headed off to the store to stock the fridge up here.

Do any of you feel you're not eating enough vegetables? I know fruit is taboo, and I just feel like I don't eat much other than meat, cheese and eggs and the odd salad. Have to introduce more veggies I guess. I feel guilty as I do think they are healthy for us.

Bulldogmom I know my hair thinned dramatically the last few years, my hairdresser told me to take Omega 3, which I did, and it seems to help. I think it's menopause for me though but your's might be related because of your hysterectomy. My eyelashes didn't fall out but they certainly got thinner and shorter it seemed. I keep buying these lengthening mascaras to try to get them to look thicker.

Bonny Jean, thanks for the info on all the bulbs you use, how do you store them for the winter? And yes, for $5.00 I threw the banana plant out, but it killed me because it was beautiful and I know I'll never find another one for that price!

Hi HockeyMum:
Just dig 'em up, clean them really good and remove all roots and guck.
Leave them to air dry outside if it's warm or the house, maybe a few days.
I just store them in a brown bag with either wood dust and shavings or you could use vermiculite... anything that will grab moisture so it doesn't go to your bulbs. Store the bag in a cool, not cold, dry place for the winter.
I just throw the castor bean seeds in a pill bottle or whatever away from heat and sun. The castor bean seeds should be soaked in water for 24 hrs before planting.

Happy Friday! I've been swamped at work and no time to check in. Scale this morning read 200.8. Me and DH went out for my birthday to the casino and that involved several light beers and blackjack We actually did quite well!!! And of course we didn't eat dinner because we were busy gambling so when we got home I was starved. I had a couple bites of DH's sandwich and went to bed. It was an awesome birthday though!

We are heading the lake again today for the weekend. The weather looks crappy though. We are supposed to take the kids to dinner at this really nice steak house for my bday. It's called The Pine Lodge and it's delicious!!! We promised them if we won $$ we would take them I'll probably get the filet and a salad. I might splurge and get the sauteed mushrooms.

On the wrinkle issue - I have one on my forehead that drives me insane. It runs straight up and down right between my eyes. It looks like I was perplexed a lot in life and was always thinking??? So, where do I buy fillers and what are they??? I saw Neutrogena had something called Rapid Wrinkle Repair. And something that is odd, when I did hcg and got down to 175, I had no extra skin or wrinkles. Wonder if the hcg had something to do with that??? Interesting....

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day!!!
