This is supposed to be me not believing what I see. I don't know how I can feel miserably bloated and yet still get a loss. I need a whoosh or a fart. LOL I almost didn't weigh this morning because I knew that I had to be up a few lbs by the way I'm feeling. But I'm more than happy to see that scale moving down again.

Gracie, Happy belated Birthday! I hope you had a great one!

CdnPaleoGuy, Both of my dogs are on a wheat free and corn free food. You can tell when they've eaten something with wheat in it. But it makes sense because wheat isn't good for us either and I doubt it was ever supposed to be a part of their diet too.

Leanne, I'm another Amazon addict. I have tried miracle noodles and they didn't affect my losses at all. They have to be prepared a certain way to make them more appealing. Most people complain of the fishy smell and rubber band like texture. But once you open the package, you have to rinse the noodles in cold water and then pat them dry. Then you can boil them or throw them in your stir fry. I have found that they are more suited for stir fry type recipes and not Italian dishes.

Sandy, You make me want to try yoga! Nice drop!

Shelly, That's crazy that they would make everyone wait for an hour for one person.

Morning All

Wow ladies.. some serious losses there for 2 wks!! 5-6 lbs in 2 wks is amazing.

So SANDY, would you recommend yoga???

So next week I'm pampering myself with a little "pre-holiday" or reward for weight loss by getting a professional hair color for once, then a pedi and I'm gonna try a "spray-on" tan so I can jump into a pair of shorts, which will be the first time in years! So when my cous shows up I'll send ya a pic of the new hair, new body, new tan and new car!! Happy today cause I finally got rid of that pound! Yay!

Bonny....whoop whoop, so happy for you, omgosh its lovely seeing those numbers go down....all the treats you are planning are awesome, you definitely deserve it and it will make you feel like a million dollars, your cousin is going to be amazed, oh what fun....we definitely want pics
Yes for definite about the yoga, its awesome, I don't do well with exercise as I am lazy and hate jumping around or using machines at the gym, I have joined to many times and after a few weeks totally hate it, but yoga is all about stretching all the muscles and it just feels so good, last night was my third time and already I can't wait to go again...madness lol, but its really cool.

Well it was sunny and warm and I have been in and out of the house playing in the dirt but now huge thick clouds.....stupid weather, fingers crossed it passes.....I started out with shorts and t shirt but now want to put the heating back on and a sweater.

Sometimes this process seems so slow and it is discouraging to know that I still have SO much more to go! On the other hand, I would still be 330 and possibly more if I wasn't doing anything about it so I am encouraged by that. I'm committed and will get to my goal even if I get there .2 pounds at a time!

Everyone is doing so well! Congrats on all the great losses I look around at all you skinny people and can't wait to look like all of you!! You guys are beautiful

We had a storm last night that brought in a little cold front. Got up to 55 degrees this morning. Guess this is our last chilly snap before we live in the 80's and 90's for the next 4-5 months!! Going to enjoy it while it's here (I'm from upstate NY and I'm still not used to all this hot, muggy weather).

I'm off today so I'm going to work in our yard. Hope everyone has a good day today!

Kimber I think you are doing incredibly well, and over seven pounds gone already this month never to be seen again lol, even .2 is a loss and I think about the size of an egg in fat, just bit by bit you are going to get skinnier and skinnier, we are all here cheering you on with every bit you lose, your mindset is great as well, you are right you would still be the same weight if you weren't doing anything about it....hope you have a great day in the garden while the weather is cooler, and think of all the exercise you will be doing, I just dug another small flower bed and now need a coffee break.

Hello everyone! I spent 2 hours last night and this morning catching up on 10 pages! I check in and then head off for days it seems. Although I do stay on plan. Got down to 127 one day last week, then ate a little too much for a couple of days over Mother's Day and my daughter's 17th birthday on the 13th. She wanted ice cream cake and I gave in and had a small piece. I can usually say no to both cake and ice cream. Should be back at 128 today.

Happy Birthday Gracie for yesterday

I love everyone's doggy photos, and the persian cat (or is it a Himalayan?) I had 2 Himalayans, one lived to be 19 1/2, just to p*ss off our dog, I'm sure. We had a chocolate lab before it was fashionable, 20 years ago, and my cats tolerated him. He died at age 10 of heart disease, the one cat had already passed on, but the other one, she hung in there for 6 more months -- I swear just to say she had outlived the dog. He was beautiful and his name was Coach, the boys on my DH's hockey team named him when we couldn't come up with a name for the 8 week old bundle of joy I took into the rink one night. (hubby was the coach, we didn't have kids then). He didn't have hip displaysia but he had 2 ACL repair surgeries, cost us a fortune and didn't take properly, but what you won't do for your dog!

To all the hockey fans: Yayyy Montreal!!! As a Leaf fan I never thought I'd say that, but they're all we have left and they beat Boston in Game 7 last night..... And yesterday, my son got an invite to interview with the Leafs!!!!! He's a hockey player and it's his NHL draft year, he's going to the NHL Combine in a couple of weeks and the Leafs want to see him the day after that. So excited. He's interviewed with San Jose and NYR too. Maybe he can pay us back for all the money we've spent all these years....lol....

Back to the topic at hand. Congrats to everyone who has continued to stay focussed, results or not. Bonny Jean your garden is gorgeous! Are those Elephant Ears you have, the big leafy things?

MotherGoose , Congratulations on your daughter's Master's degree, that's a huge accomplishment. And you are brave on that surfboard thingee! I agree with you on the skin thing. I find my stomach, which got stretched out with 2 babies 13 months apart never seemed to go back down completely, even when I hit 118 pounds, the skin always looked a little ripply, even though I don't have any stretch marks (prevention: Vitamin E and Vaseline Intensive Care, mixed together and rubbed on every day for those of you planning on getting pregnant...hahaha). I watch all those 600 pound loser shows and they all seem to end up having the excess skin removed at some point, as it just doesn't go away. And a lot of those people work out hard to get rid of the weight.

Sandy, our weather here in Ontario rivals yours there in Britain at the moment.... grey and blah, raining. It's long weekend here coming up, hoping the sun comes out so I can work on my gardens at the cottage, which we finally opened last weekend now that the snow has stopped. And you make me want to try yoga too as I hate exercise.

DQ, you seem very disciplined, and you'll be back down in no time. Are you a singer?

James, I love your puppy photos, and your police stories....

I know I've missed a bunch of you, I read every one of your posts and think I have to remember that, but then I forget who said what. Going to need to write stuff down
Cdn Paleo Guy, Shelly, Bulldog Mom, I'm so glad you're all still here inspiring me every day.

Off to get my morning tea. My son has his high school grad tonight and has a bunch of kids coming over beforehand, need to clean my house and have a ton of work on my desk to get on top of.

Have a great day everyone!

Kimber, you've already lost 40 pounds, so even if it's .2 at a time, it's gone! What an accomplishment! Keep it up, it is so worth it, especially for the sake of your children, you are giving them the gift of a mother who will be there as they grow older.

Okay, have to start my day. 9:19 am, what a lazy butt I am.

Sandy you are such a fantastic cheerleader! I was thinking how slow the weight is moving but then you said "6 pounds in 2 weeks" and I thought wow!
As we all know, if we we lose 2 to 4 pounds a month it is wonderful. Heck if we lose or even don't gain its wonderful.

I know it's not a race but hitting goal tomorrow wouldn't be to soon. Or maybe it would be.
The journey is how we learn to eat. How we understand how our body reacts to different foods and stressors that effect us on a daily basis. The last time I hit goal I didn't understand that and went back to old habits that caused me to be obese in the first place. It was almost a reward for all my hard work. Like giving an alcoholic a drink for staying sober through the 12 steps.

So this time I am trying to find new recipes I can love forever.
Kimber you rock! Hope you enjoy the day.
Bonny I am green with envy! You deserve the best.
Candy stay dry! I live in FL and I would die without the ac.
Bulldogmom yet another cheerleader who is melting away! Imagine how you'll be when the swelling goes away.

Sorry if I missed anyone. This is such an important group to me, I have obsessive tendencies and this is where I can talk about dieting without driving my other friends completely mad.
Thanks

Thank you and yes, they are. Only about half grown when the pic was taken. Castor bean and bronze leaf Canna are my other two favourites. I love tropical looking plants in the garden.

Sorry Sandy, I know, I write a week's worth of posts in one, and you thought you rambled....)

Thanks Bonny Jean, I love tropicals too, will write down those other types and hunt them down this weekend. I grew a beautiful Banana tree that I got as a tiny plant at Walmart for $5. last year, it was 8 or 9 feet tall at the end of the summer and we brought it inside... one day I saw a mass of tiny ants coming out in droves from the drainage holes. Sad to say I had to put it outside and killed it with our winter, couldn't have those ants in the house. How do you overwinter yours or are they bulbs every year? And I re-read my post and it sounded like I asked if you had Elephant Ears... I'm glad you knew what I meant!

Leanne 6 pounds in 2 weeks is AMAZING and I agree, you need to find "go to" recipes for low carb. I know when I want chocolate I make the bark, and some of the one minute muffins are great when you're craving that type of texture. I like the almond meal ones too - I put frozen blueberries in them before baking. None of it is induction friendly though, but I figure it's better than a complete cheat when I'm having one of my cravings.

And it's so very true, we tend to reward ourselves and that puts us right back where we started. The alcoholic comparison was right on. It applies to everything in life. Last year when my son was not having the best season in hockey, his trainer said, "Well you know, when he starts to see the results of all his hard work, he rewards himself by easing up, and the result is he goes backward." This year he never gave up, and yes, we are thrilled with his success. Exactly the same as our weight loss journeys. Mother Goose is such a good example. She never cheated for a whole year, and look at the difference it made.

Okay, Sandy's gonna need another coffee.....time for me to shut up.

Oh my goodness! I was going to respond to everyone this morning, but you've all been so busy that I don't have enough time! It's so great to see everyone so active on here and supporting each other. I truly truly believe that this can make the difference in our success.

Bonny, so glad to see the drop! I knew it would happen for you and you definitely deserve to treat yourself! Can't wait to see the pix!

BulldogMom, you make me laugh! I haven't weighed lately because I just haven't "felt skinny", but maybe I should! LOL It definitely seems to be working for you!

Congrats to all our losers, and even our maintainers. Sometimes even just maintaining is enough.

Leanne, you are right, taking our time to lose the weight will help insure that it sticks and we won't have to go through this again. As frustrating as it can be, try and enjoy and learn from the process.

DQ, so sorry for your loss!

(((HUGS))) to all my low carb friends! Back in a bit to see how you are all doing through the day!

Leanne that is funny as you said exactly what I was thinking this morning, that its kind of good we have to go on this journey as we learn as we go what to eat and what not to eat, I totally love your analogy of the alcoholic, totally what I was thinking with my morning coffee, but you worded it way better lol....and thanks to you I am going to buy some low carb recipe books so thanks for mentioning that this morning.

Hockeymom lol, yes I made another coffee, that was so sad about the banana tree what a shame, it would have been even better this year, I guess you could have had banana's, that would have been fun....you should buy yourself a greenhouse for your next one, that is something I am after at the moment, anyway thanks for rambling, I haven't been posting much due to my sister causing problems, but as you can see I am back rambling as well lol.....oh and that was funny asking Bonnie if she had elephants ears, I didn't pick that up straight away until you mentioned it, gave me a good laugh though.

DQ really sorry to hear about your work colleague, that is so sad.

Bonnie, I love canna and calla lilies but always get them mixed up, you have to dig them up in the fall don't you and replant them, I always used to leave mine in when we lived in Canada as I always forgot.

Well I have a dilemma and don't know what to do about it, its about these lines appearing on my face, mainly around my lips, I think as you can see from my pic that my face was a bit chubby, not much but a bit, and as I have lost weight things are starting to sag either side of my mouth and I have some lines appear around my lips, it has driven me to the point of not looking in the mirror hardly, it is all bothering me so much, I really wanted to lose another few pounds but this morning noticed 2 more little lines which totally is driving me mad.....so I kind of don't know what to do, should I go into maintenance as if I don't I could make things even worse....I wish there was someone else who was going through the same thing....so is it better to be skinnier or have more lines on my face, I know no one can really tell me what to do, my dh thinks I should get to 145, but another two pounds could give me yet another line or more sagging by my mouth.....I am really confused.

Funny, I thought about buying a banana this year and for $5 I think I'd just trash it... gonna cost too much time and money prepping it for the house.

My EE's are huge softball size bulbs removed before 1st frost and started inside about March.
The Canna's I also try to start early and they are tubors which are removed AFTER 1st light frost.
The Castor Bean has seed pods about the size of ping pong balls. They're covered with red spines that turn brown when ready to be picked. Let them dry, then remove the seeds, usually 4 per pod. Next spring start them indoors or throw directly into the dirt when all frost is gone.

lorij1984, Welcome! Its never too late to join the group!

Sandy, Someone on the main board asked about gelatin and weight loss. After googling on the subject, I came across some really interesting info. What I learned is that the collagen in the gelatin is supposed to be good for joints, skin, hair and nails. But the concentration in jello isn't strong enough and you need to go with hydrolyzed collagen. Apparently, the collagen in skin creams is too big to be absorbed by our skin so it does make much of an impact. We need to ingest the collagen for the benefits and hydrolyzed collagen is the best. People reviewing the products on Amazon talk about how wonderful their skin looks and feels. I'm probably going to give it a try since I have one knee that's giving me problems.

DQ, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I'll say a prayer for the ones he left behind.

Bonny-Jean, Nice drop! Its about time that pound got kicked to the curb.

MtherGoos, I was really surprised when I weighed in this morning. I know there have been days when I felt skinny and the scale was up. My body is just weird I think. LOL

Kimber, You are doing great! Slow and steady will get you to your goal. Some lose faster but everyone's journeys are so different. I read a thing on fb that said "If life is a highway, then I took the dirt road". LOL Sometimes I feel that way!

Hockeymum, Thanks so much for your kind words and support! You are missed when you aren't around.

Leanne, I'm so glad you decided to join this group. You are doing great and are so supportive of everyone!

Nikki and Cudabear, You all are doing great too! Nice drops!

Thanks Bulldogmom, you are a treasure, I will do some research on gelatin and hydrolyzed collagen, I make my own face cream but its not helping at the moment....I guess for all the people that are younger than me which I think is everyone lol, it just goes to show you need to lose the weight now rather than wait until you are my age when everything starts to sag lol, years ago I could lose weight and my face never sagged, anyway off to research, thanks for your help Bulldogmom.
Bonnie I never did order that face peel, as my face is worrying me to much lol.

Hi everyone-- thanks so much for the good thoughts re: my friend. I don't think I have a tear left in me. It was so sad, and afterwards some of us were standing around and the consensus was to: retire EARLY before it's too late.

Anyway -- BulldogMom yes I'm a musician (guitar) and singer and i write songs too. I have four bands which keep me busy.
