I wondering if you need more fat?? My fat intake has been quite low for a week and I'm stuck so I'm going back to mayo in my eggs and upping my protein a little. Last week was just 3 eggs & 6 oz protein a day so less isn't always best I'm thinking???
I "think" I eat enough fat since my chicken wings are smothered in butter and I eat deviled eggs every night. But then, I don't track anything and just usually use the scale as a gauge. I'll give it a few more days because I think its a hormones. It's not unusual for me to get bloated for upwards of 10 days.

I read up more about fat fasts, and am thinking I will try to up my fats and keep my protein moderate (50-70g), while my carbs stay close to zero.

I've heard some of you complaining about not losing, but you are eating right. Reminder: sometimes our bodies fight back against that weight loss, and the fat cells fill with water to maintain stasis. Eventually, the whoosh will come. (I need that reminder all the time!) The other thing I wonder is if changing things up can help things--raising/lowering protein or fat levels. Just musing...
Glad you had a great day! Out of curiosity, what are you eating during the fat fast? I've done the meat and egg fast but often wondered about the fat fast.

Its a good reminder for everyone about the fat cells filling with water, etc. Personally, I'm not looking to change things up at the moment because it was always my gut instinct to do so. I'm wanting to see what would happen if I just wait this out for a little longer. Some people panic after seeing no changes for a few days and switch/eliminate a bunch of things in their diet when its possible if they just waited, they would have gotten a whoosh anyway. Daily weighing can make you crazy, I'm trying to find that balance.

I am not uncomfortable with daily weighing, and i find that it helps rather than hurts.
That's why i've started again. I gained 5 pounds in three months partly because i stopped weighing every day. That's my lesson, because it is hard to lose five pounds this close to goal, but easy to gain it!!!

Sandy, you are doing so good at experimenting to see how your body reacts to things you add back in. I'm learning from watching you that pretty much this weight loss can only be permanent if we are vigilant everyday to make sure what we are eating isn't packing the weight back on. I know you can do this!!! Hoping to be maintaining right along with you sometime next year or so.

Happy losses to everyone!

Had a fantastic Mothers Day meal. Started with a simple greens salad and grape tomatoes with balsamic dressing. Then we moved on to the most wonderful white clam sauce which I had on spaghetti squash. The others did have pasta and fresh bread... The main course was a large ribeye steak topped with a mushroom Marcella sauce that melted in your mouth as it was chewed. OMG I ate so much!
I ended the day with a half a glass of wine for a toast to the mothers who are no longer with us.

I know it could take a few days for the effects to hit so I will start a fat fast today till Wednesday.

Morning All

Congrats to all those who saw a loss this morning! That's always nice.
I had no such luck. Upped my calories from 700 to 1100 (easiest way to explain), switched coffee for diet coke and I'm up 1/2 lb! Seems contrary to the book but I have no explanation? Seems my 2 days of heavy yard work didn't help my scale. What are ya gonna do, eh?

May 1 .....170.7
May 7......168.9
May 8......168.8
May 9......168.7
May 10....168.5
May 11....168.6

Good morning! I spent the weekend in Deep Creek Lake, MD at our camp. It was such a nice, relaxing weekend. I ate on plan the whole time but Friday night I endulged in a few Michelob Ultras Then yesterday we went out on the boat and I got a nasty sunburn. It was cloudy and then the sun started peeking through but I didn't realize just how burned I was. I know better!!! So today I am not weighing because I know the sunburn blips me up. I was perfect on plan both Saturday and Sunday. My clothes are all feeling looser so I need to pay more attention to that than the stupid scale. I will weigh on Friday and see if I've lost.

My goal for this week is to push at least 5 bottles of water per day and stick to meat, cheese, eggs, mayo, oil.

Here's a pic from yesterday of me and my kids. Hubby did make me a wonderful breakfast of bacon and eggs. Then I got flowers and a gift card for a massage/facial

I cannot believe I actually lost over a weekend!! Usually I rack a 4lb gain and spend the remainder of my week trying to lose it again..
Probably would have lost more if I could keep my mitts off those wine bottles!
I have a really hard week ahead of me;
Wine gala tonight, Anniversary with hubby on Thurs and a Bday party on Friday.. Feel like I have a really good plan in place and really hoping I can make it through unscathed!

Bonny - I ALWAYS gain with Diet Zoke/Coke Zero etc.. It causes me to retain water.. No idea why!

Off subject, but my sister got a puppy on Saturday. She had to put her last doggie to sleep about 4 months ago and was heartbroken. She hasn't been able to have her own kids so her doggies are her furbabies. She had been waiting on this litter (same as her last dog, weimerauner - spelling???) and was finally able to pick her up. It was a great Mother's Day present for her Her name is Greta Grace.

So today no work out. I go during work hours and it's not feasible today. Also, my little 3 year old got a fever yesterday - happy mother's day to me. Within his first hour up, vomit and chills. ugh. Today, the dr cleared him so no ear infection or throat infection. Just viral and have to wait it out.

We are starting a step -a-thon at the gym. Most steps in a month wins. I will now be dragging my walk at home dvds out and do them as soon as I get home. (working a half day as my hubby works nights and home with the little man). Hopefully the extra 3-5 miles a day will help.

I haven't been staying on track as well as I should, stressed and cleaning the house for my daughter's slumber party this weekend and family party the next day. Both kids born 7 years apart but in the same week. My son's room was the "storage room" and I switched him from his smaller nursery to this room finally this weekend. And set up his new corvette bed etc. Just have to paint. Needless to say, I have been busting my behind. Even shampood the carpet - it looks a little better. Now the nursery which will be our nice spare bedroom looks all crazy since it came down to the last minute and I just started moving junk into there. Threw soooooo much stuff away, cant believe that junk has been in that room since we moved in 5 years ago. it's amazing. When I got married and we bought the house, me and my hubby moved both our 3 bedroom homes into one in like 3 weeks. So that room was like our garage. LOL. Feeling so much better now and accomplished.

Didn't weigh today. Need to do that fat fast before the parties this weekend. LOL

B: revolution rolls/egg mcmuffin. ( 1 egg, Canadian bacon, cheese on rolls)
L: hamburger patty on rev. rolls. with avocado.

Thanks for the info! I've heard people doing it and wondered exactly what they ate. I think in the book, Atkins said nuts could be included but they stall me. So I just wondered what a typical day would look like for someone. Do you get good results when you are doing it? Are you results any different than if you did just a meat fast?

I need to get the ingredients to make some fat bombs! Haven't made them in a Long time. How does everyone Who makes them make em? I've always used almond butter, coconut oil and sweetner and then frozen them.

Sodium! Why haven't I heard anything on these threads about sodium? I read that we NEED to add sodium to our diets when we are low carb. When we first do low carb, we experience water loss (our big weight loss to start) because our kidneys switch from retaining salt to excreting it. Our body can make sodium from the potassium we have or take, but eventually it is not enough. Low sodium compromises your circulation, can cause lightheadedness, fatigue, muscle cramps, constipation, headaches...! According to The Art and Science of Low Carb Living, we should get around 5 grams of sodium. THose who eat processed foods get it easily. I added up my normal intake, and it was only about 1 gram. They suggest drinking a couple cups of bouillon or broth a day. Thought I would pass this along!

Shelly, I haven't tried any other recipe besides this one. It consists of 3/4 cups coconut oil, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 2 tbls peanut butter, 3 tbls cocoa powder and sweetener. I'm thinking about leaving out the pb next time.

Another tough day yesterday, my AC has gone up and I need to replace the entire unit. Lord knows I don't have 3 grand ready to spend on that but I have no choice. It so happens that my ex-husband (and father of my children) owns an HVAC co...I'm hoping to work out a deal for me to make payments. What a switch that will be, he stops paying child support next month as our youngest is 18 and graduates, and I'll be sending him money...UGH! LOL

I was fine food-wise though, it seems stress isn't pushing me to the yummies! Hopefully today will be a better day!

I've got vacation coming up in a few weeks and I usually obsess over it, wondering what I'm going to eat, worrying about the ramifications of not eating within plan (low calorie plans I've done a million times in the past) but with this WOE I'm not concerned at all. Sure, temptation will be all around me but I really think (and hope) I'm strong enough to ignore it. We shall see!

Anyway, enough rambling:
May 1 - 207.2
May 2 - 206.6
May 3 - 206.2
May 4 - 206.0
May 5 - 204.8
May 6 - 204.4
May 7 - 204.0
May 8 - 204.2
May 9 - 204.6 FOOEY!
May 10 - 203.8
May 11 - 203.0
May 12 - 202.4
May 13 - 202.4

Happy Tuesday everyone...boss man is out of the office today, maybe I'll actually get some work done today!

A crazy morning, had a bad nights sleep, overslept and when I woke up I had visitors due in ten minutes...so a mad dash to tidy....no time to weigh...still haven't showered....not a good morning, I hate being unorganized...now will have to wait for tomorrow to weigh.....but my jeans feel loser so that's a good sign lol.
Hope everyone's morning is better than mine....off to drown myself in coffee.
