After seeing some of these posts I see I am not the only one who has weight stalls! I have been keeping a diet journal and when I stall I like to look at what I did the day before to try and change things around to keep the scale going down. I started last Wednesday.
May 7th - 123.6
May 8th - 120.2
May 9th - 120.6
May 10th - 119.4

I have been eating eggs, bacon, sausage, steak, chicken broth, black coffee, water, diet soda.

I do feel sodium is a factor, portions, and time of day foods are consumed.

I try to change up and tweak things everyday to see what is going to work for me!

Morning All

Sandy: Oh the frustration of maintenance, eh! Not sure how much garlic bread you had but bread is bread, I guess? Some things may never be added back. I don't know? Not there yet but again if we've changed our woe then each week is gonna be an experiment to see what can be added and what can't. I don't envy you and Shelly right now. I'm hoping I have the patience to try one thing for a week and see what happens then add something the next week kind of thing. Good luck.

Kimber: Yes, stress can hurt your sleep and scale although you seem to be doing okay, scale wise. Stress can be fixed and go away whereas succumbing to carbs WILL STICK!! So hang in there and get thru the day. Here's hoping things settle down for you and congrats on yet another drop!!

Candy: Well, I guess fake bread is fake bread. I've never heard of anything low carb that even remotely tastes like bread! Otherwise it would be a billion dollar business and even "non-dieters" would be buying it like crazy! Sounds like those oopsie rolls are the closest thing. Congrats on your drop and sounds like you're gonna have a great day with your sis!!

BulldogMom: Ah, that's so sweet!! Funny but precious!

Well, my day sounds like a ton a of yard work ahead of me. Hopefully it will show on the scale tomorrow. Have to clean up dog stuff, leaf vac, rake, mow, trim... yada, yada, yada!!! Then have to turn the convertible into a pick up again and go get a new patio set from Walmart so that might be few trips as the boxes are huge!!! We're expected to hit all all time high of 69 today. Whoo-hoo, that'll be our first almost 70 day!! Then cooler and rain tomorrow so I have to do all this today!!! I thought I was gonna see a rise in the scale this morning. Had a nice prime rib on the bbq last night and for some reason got into the jello and hwc! Ugh, but thankful the scale was kind today. It may show tomorrow, I don't know???

Aldi grocery store in DC
There is one Aldi store and it is in a sllightly dicey neighborhood.
Not much in the way of fresh food- most is processed. some cheap looking meats.
But...they charge .25 for a CART and don't take credit cards-- just debit or cash.
I walked out and am never going back.

DQ, WHAT?! A quarter to use a cart? I'd never go back either.

cristress, Sometimes when a person's weight doesn't change for a few days, it doesn't have anything to do with what they ate the day before. I think you really have to know your body to determine if its food related, hormones or just your body re-adjusting. And even then, its probably just a guessing game. But it sounds like you got this thing down!

Bonny-Jean, Its supposed to be in the 80s again today. I've already heard someone complain how hot it was. Oh wait, that was me. LOL My aunt's pool isn't open yet so when it gets that hot, it isn't fun to be outside.

Sandy, I'm not a huge fan of bread, but garlic bread gets me every time. Love the stuff! You'll get that extra water weight off in no time.

I find when a business gets stingy like that the people ban together and do things like…… ohhh your coming in and I am leaving, take my cart! But I will say if it is one of those neighborhoods where people take the cart home then maybe I would understand. People ruin it for everyone. Those carts really do cost a lot of money. I know when I charged someone for theft of one it was felony level.

So today I go out and finish purchasing stuff for mother’s day. That is if the baby ever wakes up. We have been running him ragged during the week so I will let him sleep as long as he wants.

I did jump on the scale and found the following.
I weighed 173.6 and had 24.8% body fat.

I took this from my stats last month because it was the last time I did these. 4/15/14 172.2 25.3% Body Fat.

I honestly did not think I would maintain at this level. I have been lax on some eating of desserts etc so if I really buckle down I can make this work better! I have some awesome lentil ideas, the nuts work beautifully as snacks or replacement meals. Lower carb meals seem to be natural to me only sticking with low glycemic carbs at specific times.

According to Google I need to be no more than 21% at my ripe old age. I think I can do that if I do the same program I did last week again consistently and stricter eating. Would also help if I went grocery shopping soon, it’s been like 2 weeks and the cupboards are bare.

DQ: All our carts range from .25 to 1.00. I actually have to make sure I always have a loonie (Cdn dollar) in my car for shopping but maybe they don't take credit cards is because they don't wanna pay that percentage to the credit card companies based on their sales? Not smart customer service for sure. I know we have lots of "mom & pop" shops that won't take them. I'm sure the sales would outweigh the cost of doing business. Right now Walmart is the only store I can think of that doesn't charge for carts. Too many lazy, sh** heads stealing them!! I don't have a problem with someone "borrowing" it to get their stuff home but for goodness sakes, bring it back, eh!!!

BulldogMom: That was so funny cause I've been out for a couple of hours and I'm just cooking. I put a little sunscreen on for the first time in my life and that's only cause I got so much work to do and it's the first time my skin has seen sunshine so gotta be careful. I'm enjoying the work and sunshine in spurts.

DQ you should have gotten that quarter back when you put the cart back up. Our local aldis is great. Lots of produce but I don't buy their meats unless it's chicken. Last time I got some of their ground beef it was awful tasting. I got my HWC there too.

I buy my own mother's day stuff. Not because DH won't do it but because this way I get what I want and he won't have to worry about it and that is my gift to him.

On the same note he and my BIL are cooking a Atkins friendly lunch. I do plan on trying everything so I am sure my carbs will be too high so starting Monday back to strict plan. I am sure it will be worth it.
Happy mothers day to all!

Ditto!! He hates to shop anyways and I like to so it's like a double gift to me!
We don't buy each other gifts for any occasion actually. Too much pressure to get the right thing and too much disappointment when you open it to find something you would never in a million years want!! LOL

Morning All
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there.

Hi Sandy
Oh, it's an early one this morning. 5 hrs sleep is not conducive to a good scale number so all my hard work yesterday isn't gonna show today, so maybe tomorrow. Although it's Mother's Day, my ds's gf has family coming to my house today to frame in double doors downstairs in their living area because my dog and I are too noisy!!! My ds came home for 2 yrs to attend college and I foolishly allowed his gf to come. Oh, if I had only known!!! I really don't care but it seems silly for just one year??? Seems princess gets what princess wants! I just roll my eyes when I think of his future!! The girl has not done one chore inside or out from the day she came here a year ago. I've bent over backwards to make her feel comfortable so that's not it. Oh well, his life, I guess. Sorry for venting!!

Yeah, I think the only reason he's even in school is to get a better paying job to give her all that she wants so she doesn't have a meltdown. I'm guessing nobody has ever said NO to this girl and she's like a spoiled kid!!

Don't feel bad. I'm in the exact same boat and apparently my hormones are perfect so I'm a little unsure as well. Sounds like we're both due for a whoosh any day now!!

Thanks! I'm actually a little relieved to still see 196. Dh and the girls took me out for an early Mother's Day dinner and I had a big steak covered in mushrooms and a side salad. I broke my rule of no eating carbs after lunch plus I wasn't mindful of the portions. But I figured celebrating with a salad is a lot better than celebrating with a cake.

James, Great job on decreasing your body fat! Obviously you're hard work is putting on some muscle.

Shelly, My dh doesn't get it either. On the occasions that he remembers to get me anything, its flowers. But my first mother's day, it was leftover & discounted flowers bought at 10 pm. But as long as we have been together, its never changed that I hate flowers. They're overpriced, they don't last long and my cat always tries to eat them so we have to hide the flowers. If I sound ungrateful, its because he doesn't put any thought into gifts but rather gives me flowers because he's "supposed" to.

nikki, The scale hasn't been kind to a lot of us this week. Hang in there and hopefully the whoosh fairy visits us all next week. If she doesn't, I'm going to hunt her down and beat her with a doughnut. LOL

Bonny-Jean, You are a patient woman. I would have a hard time being nice to the girlfriend. Good job on letting her breath the same air as you. That has to take some serious effort! LOL

Sandy, Don't feel bad about the pizza. Its a part of life to indulge every now and then.

I am looking forward to the highest carb lunch/dinner that I have eaten in a month! With that said I do plan on being kind of careful and will most likely do a fat fast for 3 days after just to get back into keto..... I will have to wait and see how it goes.

I do not know if I could keep my yap shut with a princess living in my home

I never could say no to pizza. It is my nemesis. Thank goodness I can still at least make a cape friendly version. Just remember any damage that is done can be undone no sweat. Or maybe with a little sweat

I tend to lose best when I have had a good night's sleep.. I work nights so they are few and far between. I normally weigh in before I go to work today was the exception as I have tonight off and won't sleep today.

I know things have been strange this week. I've spent a few days eating nothing but protein, no veggies.....I'm 196. I gorged myself on a ribeye, mushrooms and a salad....I'm 196. If I look at a slice of cake though....I'm 200. LOL

I know! LOL. So maybe the salad and mushrooms?? I think I'm "veggie sensitive" My scale goes up if I eat a small romaine salad everyday. Oh, I saw somebody walking down the street with a huge, soft-serve ice cream cone. I so wanted one!!
I wondering if you need more fat?? My fat intake has been quite low for a week and I'm stuck so I'm going back to mayo in my eggs and upping my protein a little. Last week was just 3 eggs & 6 oz protein a day so less isn't always best I'm thinking???

Happy Mother's Day

To all those who have extended the family line: enjoy the day. I took my wife to a buffet with the boys then went to visit my Mother afterward.
Hope you've all been spoiled rotten

Happy Mother's Day to all! I had a lovely lunch with my 4 teen/adult kids, fixed AND cleaned up by my DH.

This week I came home from school with strep. Since I was miserable and not hungry, but I felt I should eat, I decided to do a fat fast. I stayed on it for 3 days and lost 7.5 pounds. I read up more about fat fasts, and am thinking I will try to up my fats and keep my protein moderate (50-70g), while my carbs stay close to zero.

I've heard some of you complaining about not losing, but you are eating right. Reminder: sometimes our bodies fight back against that weight loss, and the fat cells fill with water to maintain stasis. Eventually, the whoosh will come. (I need that reminder all the time!) The other thing I wonder is if changing things up can help things--raising/lowering protein or fat levels. Just musing...
