LOL! It's a little disconcerting when you see one just sitting there on the floor in front of you. We get a lot of tarantulas in the yard too, which the dogs try to chase down, but are never quite sure of.

07 May Scale mix-up

Afternoon All:
BulldogMom: you're going to have to start preparing yourself for more flirting as well; great job...
Think it was hockeyMom asking if I was happy about the lack of snow? Well, yes, it's nice to see it go however, now that it's getting warmer, the mosquitoes become a problem. I'm sure Bonny-Jean understands what I mean.
We have ticks here in Ont as well. The city even has a special tick removal tool that you can buy for a nominal fee. Google 'tick key"
So I step on the scale last night at the Y & read 262. Step on the scale at home & it reads 255
Maybe it's time to resort to skin fold measuring. At least that will give me a ballpark on % of body fat I have to burn off
Off to cook some ribs; have a good evening folks....

Your menu sounds yummy. Girl, go get a piece of cheese or drink a big glass of water or SOMETHING!! Don't suffer hunger pains!

Sorry hon but there's no tick spray. I'm sure you know the only thing gets rid of them is several very hot days or mid-July.... whatever comes first. LOL

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I can't wait to see what the next year brings!

MtherGoos, Scorpions creep me out just as badly as spiders. We don't have them here but just seeing them on tv makes my skin crawl.

DairyQueen, You also have to be careful about pulling the tick out and leaving its head behind. We used to cover the tick in a small amount of the flea and tick shampoo. Then wait for it to release itself, which didn't take too long.

OOO Oh Story time. When I was in the Marine Corps I was IN CA training in infantry school. Part of it was field training where you sleep in shelters. They say you are supposed to shake out you boots before putting them on which everyone followed, kind of. When I turned mine over a scorpion fell out!

Then this one time when I was a cop I was driving down a highway in Southeast Colorado when a van was driving crazy and swerving. I pulled it over and spoke with the driver and found that a big rig was driving in front of them and it was the time of year where tarantula’s are all over the road because it’s hot, I guess. Apparently the truck kicked a spider up in the air and it landed on the windshield of the van and they FREAKED out!. I let em go.

Probably should make this low carb some how…. Um they both are zero carb options?

I am ok with 148 but any higher and I will stop maintaining....I did go to yoga again last night so that could be why the scale is up a bit....I am totally in love with it and wish I had discovered it years ago, such simple exercises but I still thought I was going to die with pain....it was amazing though and a good kind of pain from stretching muscles that haven't been stretched in years.....love it.
Well it is raining here so I might be on the board more, no garden time today.

Bulldogmom, thanks for sharing your pics, wow what a transformation, you look amazing, well done you.

Cudabear nice to see you back again.

I am now looking around for spiders etc while drinking my coffee after reading all the posts lol.....hate them...
James loved the story about the vans swerving lol.....oh yuk but horrible really that it went on someone's windowscreen...I can't even type the word as it gives me the shivers lol.
Hope everyone has a great day....

Cndpaleguy.....it must be nearly time for the blackfly, they are the things that used to get me the most, I never saw a tick but horsefly's would have me running round in circles and blackflies would make me swell up for three weeks....here we just have rain lol....I still miss your beautiful country though.

Um, MtherGoos, Scorpions and Tarantulas?!? I swear, if I saw either anywhere near my home I would pack up and move. I've moved out of a room because I saw a cave cricket and didn't catch it so I didn't know where it was. I literally stopped going to bed in that room and slept on a chair in the living room for months before moving into yet another room. It wasn't until I started renting out that room that I even went back in for my stuff! LOL Um, yeah, I have a horrible case of arachnophobia! LOL I actually have insectophobia, I'm petrified of insects. I am the woman you see running around like a crazy person because some kind of bug landed on them. Except lady bugs, its the only insect I'm not afraid of! LOL

Bulldogmom...you look amazing!

I got my Netrition order yesterday, I can't wait to bake something. I got the hot dog rolls and bagels, I'm going to try the bagels tomorrow. So when I got home I put everything away but as I was doing it everything went haywire. I had purchased a new can of Folgers from the grocery store, I keep my coffee in a different canister so I opened the Folgers and the pressure caused it to go POOF - coffee grounds everywhere! UGH. What a pain to clean up! So, moving on I wanted to make room in one of my cabinets (my baking cabinet) for my new low-carb stuff, someone put the powdered sugar back in the cabinet upside down, without a clip. Of course, I picked it up and WHOOSH...powdered sugar EVERYWHERE! All I could do was laugh. I cleaned it up, put my groceries away, told the kids "I'm outta here!" and went to my knitter's guild meeting. Boy did I need that get away! LOL

Anyway:

May 1 - 207.2
May 2 - 206.6
May 3 - 206.2
May 4 - 206.0
May 5 - 204.8
May 6 - 204.4
May 7 - 204.0
May 8 - 204.2

If that's the full extent of this week's upswing, I will TAKE it! LOL

Happy Thursday everyone!

Going back to the sleep doctor this morning and so glad that I've lost 15lbs since I saw him 3 weeks ago! He blessed me out about my weight (the only Dr that ever has!!) and told me that he wanted me to seriously consider the lap band surgery. I told him that I was low-carbing and he said great but when you don't want to do that anymore I want you to have this surgery. I came home from that visit and told my hubby that the gig was up and that I needed to get really serious about dropping the weight!! I am totally committed to this WOE for the rest of my life. This is not a diet to get me to where I want to be so that I can eat like a normal person again. Been there done that!!

With all that spider/scorpion/bug talk---I'm surprised I got any sleep last night!!!

Hope everyone else has good losses today!!

I've been on Atkins '72 for a couple of days now. I really don't notice a difference in how I've been eating except that I'm just sticking with cucumbers instead of all the other veggies I was eating. My issue is just staying on plan, but so far so good!

hi everyone! Bulldogmom-- great idea about the flea shampoo. I discovered another bite last night- it's itchy but I didn't scratch and the redness was gone this morning.
UGGG

yesterday I was extremely good: an ounce of pork cracklings during the day, a bite of guacamole in the evening with a glass of wine, and, later, another glass of wine and a small bowl of konjac noodles with a tablespoon of sour cream. This morning I was starving so i had a scrambled egg. Probably another egg for lunch! and maybe wings for supper.

5/5 141
5/6 143
5/7 142.5
5/8 142.5

Hey guys...been lurking...now back on, I have 3 questions:

1)aching all over with some sort of flu thing. What flu foods do you eat while on Induction? (Soup, hot broths, casserole things..its not upset stomach, just achy and cold-like virus.)

2) What has been your fastest way to Ketosis. I think part of my problem is no Ketostix, which i will get this afternoon..

3)Cheapest source for Ketostix? i live in Ontario Canada, so we have target and walmart but a few others you may not have.

Tx for helping everyone~! This is a GREAT group! Welcome to all you newbies...I have been lurking through April.
Was 197, down from 208, now 209. oops.
Goals for May: get into Ketosis, and get back to 197, final Goal 135.

a-line- i think that pork rinds are fried skin and cracklings are skin with some fat attached, so that you get a juicy bite along with the crunch.
and OMG we played at a party the other night and one of the foods was pork belly, and it was deeelish.

Great job on all the losses this morning! Everyone is starting out this month doing really well!

CdnPaleoGuy, I flirt as well as my bulldog swims. LOL Don't worry about that scale at the Y. I'd have to wonder how often it gets calibrated since it gets used a lot. Plus you weighed later in the day.

MtherGoos, I don't know how you do it.....scorpions?! Tarantulas?!

James, LOL I love your sense of humor. When I was a teenager, my bf and I were driving around at night and hit a "bird". We felt bad so we got out of the car to check on it. The bird ended up being a bat and it didn't take to kindly to being prodded with a stick. I don't think I ran so fast in my life.

Sandy, I really want to try yoga especially if it stretches me out and makes me taller. LOL

Candy, Dumping the sugar everywhere is something that would happen to me. LOL Glad you can laugh about it.

Kimber, Your losses have been great! Being a part of this group has made me realize that this way of life is definitely sustainable.

Shelly, Nice drop! Now tell that scale to stay there.

Bonny-Jean, The closest thing to a pina colada is the coconut and pineapple flavored water enhancer. But it doesn't pack the punch of the real thing unfortunately.

Cuda, Nice drop! Keep that snow to yourself! I finally packed away our winter clothes. So if it snows here, the kids will just have to wear shorts and flip-flops. LOL

DairyQueen, How do you cook your wings? That's my go-to food at the moment and I can't seem to get enough.

aline58, Thanks for the compliment! I don't use the ketostix. But the quickest way to get into ketosis is to eat nothing but meat, eggs, cheese and butter/oil. No carbs at all except what occurs naturally in the mentioned foods.

CdnPaleoGuy...interestingly I got a fair reading of body fat, using a youtube vid, pausing it on the chart for measurements, and converting it. so, I measured the pinch with a regular measuring tape in mm...

1. Measure your pinch areas in mm
2. Read this chart to translate to %
