McDonald's Bacon Ranch Grilled Chicken Salad

Been eating McDonald's "bacon ranch" grilled chicken salad for my induction phase lunches.

I've been using the Newman's own balsamic vinagrette dressing, but want to try the Creamy Caesar as well. Both yield a net 10 carb lunch.

Anything stand out in the number's below that I should take note of? The calories and fat numbers in particular, are way more with the creamy caesar than with the balsamic, but the sugars are lower.

The sodium is awfully high in both, is there a dressing that's lower you could use, or maybe try no dressing?

I eat these salads as well, but, because the ranch dressing that comes with it is loaded with a bunch of stuff I don't want, I use my own dressing from home.

How's that working for you, v? Are you losing weight? How many daily carbs allowed on your Induction phase (Not all Atkins WOE are created equally)? That's 14 carbs in just on meal.

I just looked up the MG's Grilled Bacon Ranch Grilled Chicken Salad w/o dressing & cherry tomatoes = 8 carbs (there's 1 carb in their chicken) and their dressing (2 fl. oz):
Ranch = 9 carbs
Creamy Caesar = 4 carbs
Creamy Southwest = 11 carbs
Low Fat Balsamic = 3 carbs
Low Fat Italian = 7 carbs

Pretty eye opening -- I'd ditch the dressing and bring my own from home like DownSizingMe suggested. I looked up just the salad (5.8 oz serving) and it has 7 carbs w/o the tomatoes, there are carrots in their salad mix. Now I know why I don't eat a salad at MG's and just drink the diet. DP instead.

But I really liked their interactive website where you can add or subtract ingredients - sure makes figuring this stuff out EZ!

Wishing all of us continued success on our personal LC WOE journeys!!

I try to keep things simple. That's the main reason I'm using Atkins as a WOE model.

I've lost 8 pounds since I started induction.

Yesterday I experimentated with several low carb "edge" treats. For example, I had small tastes of all of the following:

VitaminWater Zero (very good stuff)

Breyers "Low Carb" chocolate ice cream (with a few almonds sprinkled on top) - Incredibly good way to satisfy a sweet tooth with my after dinner coffee (Tassimo Gevalia Signature Crema)

Budweiser 55 low carb beer - Drank one glass with my Zaxbies hot wings last night. I think beer does not agree with low carb diets. I did not sleep well.

Still, I lost two pounds on my scale this morning and I feel great. Lots of energy and ready for another low carb day.

For breakfast, I crave Jacks smoked sausage biscuits - they are the best. Now that I'm on low carb, I'm going to switch it to eggs with a side of smoked sausage (may add grits without butter)

Forgot to mention, my wife is doing Atkins with me. We made a pitcher of Lime-aid sweetened with Stevia (Juice of 10 limes together with water and Stevia).

I thought it was great and had 2 glasses while grilling our lunch (Andouille smoked sausage & chicken tenders with Bob Gibson white bbq sauce with a side of steamed cabbage).

I'm still looking to recreate the taste of Zoe's Kitchen limeaid.

Salsa with tortilla chips

For a snack yesterday, I was craving salsa and chips. I found some low carb tortilla's at the local marketplace. Cut one tortilla into chip shaped squares with a pizza cutter, then toasted it until brown.

It worked, but was not crunchy enough. The chips were a bit hard. I need help here on how to get more crunch from the shells.

I had a few of the chips with Green Mountain salsa. The salsa was great but the chips not so much.
