Hi everyone!

So my weight finally started coming down after several weeks of stall+gain. I Re-achieved my 40lb loss marker, and lost a few more to boot.

Currently 209, and would enjoy to get out of the 200s by the end of Feb.

I think I will continue to weigh less often, it seems to cut down on stress for me.

I hope everyone is feeling happy, well, and motivated for Feb!!!!

February 1: 156.8 (squats/arm weights/crunches)
February 2: 158.4 (crunches)
February 3: 158.4 (squats/arm weights/crunches)

February goals: Complete the 30 day squat challenge that I was crazy enough to join to with my crazy friend!

Crunches everyday
Arm weight routine every other day (as tolerated). Damn tennis elbow is still with me.

Weight goal: 147...but to be honest, I will be thrilled to see anything in the 140s. I haven't seen the 140s since early 1998!

On the evening of February 1, I ate two pieces of pizza and ate almost none of the crust. And up until I ate it (and enjoyed it), I had had 3 total carbs for the day. I am still paying for it. When will I learn that it's just not flipping worth it??? I think this time might be the charm!!!! I went right back to eating clean. It was a yummy indulgence, but it wasn't worth the setback. Today was day 5 of the 30 day squat challenge. My thighs are screaming at me!!!!!!

Good Afternoon All,

Second day on program. I had a good workout on my spin bike and used my stability ball for stretching! It really does wonders as a stress reliever...also bathed the dogs! I can't tell you all how encouraging your posts are. I'm forever a work in progress and it's nice to see others in the "fight" for good health and fitness! Regardless of what stage you're in whether it be the beginning, yo-yo ing (guilty) or maintaning... NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR GOALS! 25 DAYS LEFT IN FEBRUARY YOU CAN MAKE A LOT OF CHANGES IN THAT TIME!

152 / Feb 2nd starting weight
? / Feb 9th - 1 week (prefer to weigh weekly due to scale obsession)

MJgho6...sorry not sure of your name, thanks for telling me about the flax, I thought it was allowed but have done so much reading I have no idea where I got that from now, and good to know 3 days to a week for ketosis, I will give the flax up for now as I want to see some movement on the scale soon, also didn't know there was a low carb 72, I will look into that as well thank you.
It seems like Nicki lost some weight today and Pickles (Monika), oh I love the name Pickles lol, I hope we all join you tomorrow.
Bulldogmom thanks for the welcome, Gypsy sixpence I loved reading your January challenge you were amazing with the weightloss.
Bonnyjean leg cramps are awful, my sister had them a while ago and I remember reading that it also could be low/high sodium....potassium deficiency, B vitamin deficiency or magnesium, although you are taking the magnesium now, also leg stretching the calf muscles throughout the day might help....thanks for the abbreviations, although it was a hoot trying to figure it out lol.
Hope we all see a loss tomorrow......

Missy: Think the only thing I haven't made are the meatball wrapped with bacon; all look yummy. Can't say I'm keen on pork rinds with dip; maybe I need a better dip
to all the folks joining the fun.
Someone mentioned Kemp again; do you happen to know what his stats were? Age/height etc; I'm wondering if it's worth comparing?
Spent some time in the pool this morning; nice break from the desk.
Last time I went through induction, I had a very slight metallic taste, this time it's sweet.
Leg of Lamb tonight; no idea yet what the side(s) will be but I'm fully prepared to devour it

OKAY, MY PEEPS... I NEED YOUR OPINIONS!!!

My dear aunty called to tell me she thinks it's my Diet Coke causing the belly bloat and weight gain. I mentioned I had a glass almost every day in Jan and this didn't happen. I also mentioned I hadn't had any this week and only picked it up Sat. Some will swear it's the artificial sweetener where others see no difference. I personally don't believe it's the coke so after dismissing that idea, I got an epiphany!!!

Does anybody think for one minute that it might be.....
the Walmart generic brand of sweetener I started using on Sat morning. I had this sitting in the pantry since Oct and thought it was silly to waste it so I started using it this weekend, right about the time my belly was puffing and the scale went soaring upwards. I know I'm grasping at straws here and again, I guess ANYTHING is possible, right???

February 1st marked the start of week three of induction for me. I lost 7.6lbs, 197.8 down to 190.2!

190.2lbs is still not my pre-Christmas weight, I think I was more like 187lbs. I hope that at the end of February I will surpass this and be somewhere under 185lbs....180lbs would be phenomenal!

good luck everyone! I am excited about this challenge. As long as Atkins works for me I can work it!

Hi Bonnyjean, I did some research into walmart sweeteners, I did copy it and was going to paste it but then lost it....anyway I read that it contained something called maltodextrin, at first it said it contained 0 carbs but then on another page I read that this maltodextrin caused bloating of the stomach, it also said on one site that maltodextrin contains carbs and can cause an insulin spike which could lead to the excess storage of energy in the form of fat, which can result in unhealthy weight gain. but to be honest I find that whenever I research something there are always differing views on everything.....in my opinion if its a sweetener then it should be fine, but I have only just started low carbing so you shouldn't listen to me lol.......but I thought I would share my research with you.....research should be my middle name lol as I research the hell out of everything.....anyway if I were you I would stop taking it as you never know it could be the culprit, I personally would take no notice of my research as you can't believe everything you read and it did start out saying it was 0 carbs...anyway hope this helped or have I muddled you more, as I have a habit of muddling or it could be called meddling lol....

Bonny-Jean, what kind of sweetener is it? I know it's store brand, but is it a faux Splenda, faux stevia, faux saccharine? Does it have an expiration date? Just curious.
The following are a couple of quotes from WebMD:

"All carbonated drinks - from sodas to fizzy mineral water - can cause bloating because the carbon dioxide trapped in the bubbles creates gas in the stomach. Some beverages such as alcohol, caffeinated drinks, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and some fruit juices (like orange juice, pineapple juice and tomato juice) are high in acid which can irritate your GI tract, resulting in swelling and bloating."

"Certain artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, saccharin, sorbitol, xylitol, maltitol, mannitol, cyclamates and sucralose can increase bloating. These are often found in diet drinks, sweets, cookies, energy bars and chewing gums. The artificial sweeteners linger in the stomach because they cannot be digested, and after enough build-up they act as a platform for the fermentation of bacteria, leading to production of gas."

Missy, I want to thank you for inspiring my and DH's dinner tonight! Your pictures from your Super Bowl spread got me thinking! I made spaghetti and meatballs for the kids...and the meatballs I set aside for me and the hubby, I wrapped in bacon!!!!! I paired mine up with a couple of eggs over easy. DH had a couple of scrambled eggs with his. Sooooo good! DH said they were the best meatballs he'd ever had. I just use a couple of tablespoons of the spaghetti sauce, an egg, the meat, some spices, and Parmesan cheese to make them. I cut bacon slices into thirds and used a third of strip per meatball. Baked for about 25 minutes at 350.

Gypsy funny we had spaghetti tonight as well. I bought on Amazon a zoodler. So excited. Made the kids regular noodles and hubby and I got zucchini noodles. He was having so much fun with the thing that he deep fried onions as well. They came out like Outbacks onion straw and I am so putting them on my bunless burgers from now on.

Bonny - I switched 2 weeks ago from all artificial sweeteners. I only use (don't say it) 1/2 tsp organic sugar in my 1 cup of coffee every am. Just don't want fake junk in me anymore. Having too many problems with everything else.

Sweeteners

Okay, I dug the box out of garbage...gross.
Anyway it's the "Great Value" brand and it says
Ingredients are:
Dextrose
Sodium Cyclamate (33%)
No expiration date?

No where did I see Maltodextrine but Splenda has Maltodextrin and that is the preferred sweetener, as per Atkins.

I guess there's nothing natural we can use eh, cause of the carbs?? And believe it or not, I don't burp from them (or otherwise) LOL.

The squash noodles are better tasting to me in a spaghetti. A lot of work though.

Also the sweetener question can probably answer in like 1 day. Dont use it, steal the real stuff from a restaurant or something to tied you over. If your bloat goes down then you know. I am a brand kinda guy, my wife is a generic. Lets just say we dont shop together much.

arb34 I would do something to shake up your system. You might be on the verge of a whoosh, don’t know if that is a term here but it happened to me all the time.

Bonny-Jean I would consider changing up what your eating and or go cleaner if you eat pre prepared food etc. I like what tiggy said

Nikki your hard core. I would die if all I could eat was vegetarian based. Every vegetable I eat took 20 years to get to a point I can tolerate them.

I did get my weigh in and I must say that scale kicked my butt. Not in the way you think but I stood in my kitchen naked in the freezing morning and I swear it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to make it work. Every combination of tapping etc I tried ended in a error. My original weigh in must have just been a fluke! Anyways the numbers were good. Already forgot what it was but I changed the data thing to reflect.

Just ate, figured out MOG on my phone so looking forward to some good music as I try for a 3 mile run tonight on the treadmill. After I bath the kids, put them to bed, change etc.

Ohh started on Citricel after a Doc on a podcast recommended it like 1000000000000 times and I was surprised how quick it kicks in.

Okay, so it was a store brand for Sugar Twin. No wisdom to add, I was just curious.

I buy Stevia in the Raw (in the packets) for DH. He has one packet in his morning coffee and one in his afternoon coffee.

I bumped my exercise up to 90 mins a day 6 days a week on my bike. Low intensity around 10/11 mph. Apparently I really need exercise to make progress. I took back my coffee and HWC because no woman should have to face the day without coffee. Also, I wanted cheese back again, so I took that back too!! I just make sure not to have it every day.

Baddabing, yes I keep thinking that a Whoosh may be coming...hope...hope..hope!!! Trying to ramp up the exercise with walking...trying for 10,000 steps per day but usually only get 1/2 that.....got 7000+ yesterday and a little over 10,000 today...did splurge and have a few diced tomatoes and a slice of onion with my tacoless taco salad this evening so carb count was high for me....10.72 so don't know if that will shake it up or ruin it but we will see in the morning......gonna get a good nights sleep though as I usually have better losses after good sleep......Thanks for the advice!!!

One time I worked all day walked downtown to get tags for my car and walked a mall realizing men's fashion this season sucks and I still was only 50% of 10,000 steps. I was not pleased.

P.S. if you ladies could please stop making men's clothes if my pants get any skinnier and my clothes get any tighter I may go insane!

I'll see what I can do Baddabing! I like slimmer cuts on men, but I KNOW what you mean, men should not be wearing skinny jeans!!!

I personally need someone to make far fewer dresses with spaghetti straps! No matter how much weight I lose, I am always going to have the girls with me and I've never found a strapless bra worth a darn! The summer I turned 13, I went from flat-chested to a 36C. And I was a skinny kid at the time. I need straps on my dresses!!! Most of my pants are size 8, but the bra size is still a 40D (down from a 44DD at my highest weight).

One of my cousins is having a very la ti da wedding in NYC (where he and his lovely fiancee live) in June. I am already looking for a dress. I have started hunting in a couple of great local vintage stores in town and especially on eBay. It's hard to know what size I'll be down to by June 14! I keep finding great stuff, but the vast majority have spaghetti straps on an otherwise great dress. My goal weight is only about 23 pounds away.

My scale is moving, and I can't believe how full I feel all the time, hubby is loving the dinners although isn't low carbing, I think I am going to find a pedometer to track my steps as now it has got me curious how much walking I do a day, although Sunday it was so nice out that we walked along the beach and hills for three hours, but yesterday only walked for about 30 minutes....anyway really hope you all lose some today....have a great day everyone.
