I go back to my Endo for my Thyroid check March 13th. I have a List of the tests I want run! If I don't specify what I want run then most drs will run a TSH and call it good! Frustrates me to No end! Last time my Reverse T3 and T4 were on the lowest end of normal so I want to see if those went Up and if Not then fix it! Lol

Not sure why most only do a TSH, as a T4 is probably the best?? Maybe they have to get an off TSH to warrant the T4? I'd like your results to be normal, of course but if not, it might explain your weight fluxes.
Good luck with that.

Morning

Nothing new. Scale didn't move. Well, Feb is almost over except we're in a deep freeze again. March is almost here and for us that's a scary hwy driving month. Nice days, then lots of ice and freezing rain. Ugh, don't like driving this month. Have a good one, y'all!

PaleoGuy - I love geocaching, what's better is the kids love it too. It is a great pasttime and gets you out into nature and hiking with a purpose. If the kids didn't have a reason to hike, it would be harder to convince them. sorry you got nabbed by the LCF po po

to all!!

I have not change in the scale today, but I'm relieved! I leave on Saturday for business travel for a week and do not even want to get on the scale when I return!

I do think beef steak is expensive. But I compensate this for the lack of junk food I now have given up. I also know that for some reason I do crave it and it satisfies my hunger like no other... I try to alter this with hamburger baked in butter and it is yummy. I love the Waldens ketchup (tastes to me more like steak sauce) and I use it with any beef I eat.

Thanks!

My friends were hanging out at my house yesterday and we all had a craving for something sweet, so my friend bought a box of Oreos. Good heavens, they taste AMAZING when you don't normally eat those kinds of food. Honestly, I probably had about 12 cookies and there was a lot more left, but my friend said he was gonna take them home so I wouldn't be tempted. He said, "You don't need the extra calories whether you were to eat them in one sitting or over time!" It does feel good to have a treat like that tho. Back to hard training in the gym today.

Hi princessmommy - - sounds like a great food day. I've been drinking lots of ice water, seems it helps with a sometimes weird taste in my mouth. Maybe its all the bad 'fat' or 'toxins' coming out of my body....

Thanks,

Julie

Ran out of deviled eggs so I picked up some of that Cholula beef jerky thins morning and am snaking on it right now. I think my face is going to melt off! This bag is WAY hotter than the last one I had! I have not done my hours for the week yet but I think I will be able to work a short day today and tomorrow. That would be nice.

Tomorrow, my sister, my mom, and I are going to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia to visit my uncle who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and in the hospital. Not looking great. And as much as I want to see him before he passes, this is not going to be a fun trip.

Good Morning Everyone. What a couple of days I've had.

On Tuesday, I had my one hour private yoga class that my daughter got me for Christmas. The plan was to have the lesson, then my BF was going to stay at the shop so I could go home and walk on the treadmill for an hour and then make dinner. Usually I work til 7, so I don't get my walking done until after dinner. Anyway, I was looking forward to a nice exercise filled afternoon.

I got my one hour of yoga done and headed home. As I pulled into the garage, I got a message that my BF's daughter, who is in her early 40's, was taken to the hospital with a blood clot in her lungs. As I was walking into the house, I could tell immediately that one of the 2 pits that had been left in the house had gotten sick all over the new carpet. As I'm processing all of this, I walk into the back yard to check on our Rott (the one who was diagnosed with bone cancer a few weeks ago), and she was obviously in distress with her stomach extremely bloated and dry heaving in the yard. Seriously, at this point, I don't know which emergency to handle first.

I called my BF, and then arranged to have somebody work the shop for us yesterday so that we could drive to California (about 4 hours away) to be with his daughter. After I got that squared away, I cleaned up the carpet, while on the phone with the vets emergency call service. Thankfully, they agreed to meet me at the office after hours and I told them I'd be right over.

When I went out back to get our Rott and put her in the car, she couldn't even walk any longer. I couldn't get her off the ground. Keep in mind, she's 120 pounds, and there was no way I could get her up. Now I'm starting to freak out. I called my BF, told him he had to close the store early (which we've NEVER done in 4 years) and come home immediately. It took both of us to lift her onto her bed, and then carry her on her bed to the back of the truck. She was pretty much oblivious to it all. Of course when we got there, we found out that she was bleeding internally, and it was time to let her go. Just so darn hard.

Then we went home, packed up, and left yesterday morning for California. We spent the day at the hospital with his daughter, and got home about 1:30 this morning. Such a crazy long day, but I'm glad we went. And, of course, I stayed on plan through it all.

I'm planning to weigh tomorrow, but of course I'm a little worried about the scale. Between the stress, and being off schedule, and not getting my water in at all, I'm afraid that the scale may not be kind to me. We'll see how it goes though.

MtherGoos, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog's passing. It is so hard to lose our furry family members.

I hope your BF's daughter is doing better. I will keep her in my thoughts.

I am heading to the store to get some supplies for my weekend trip. Need to get the usual: trial sizes of toothpaste, body wash, shampoo.

I put some green tea bags into a Ziploc baggie. You would think that all the news about the health benefits of green tea that it would be widely available in restaurants, but I almost never see it! Got my vitamins together for the trip.

Going to get a case of water. I have cheese sticks, pepperoni. I am thinking of getting a box of Atkins bars, as tasty as some of them are, I hate trying to rely on them... We do get free breakfast at the hotel, so I should be able to find something that I can eat that's on plan. Don't know how bad or decent the food is at the hospital down there. And my uncle has been staying with my cousin and her family. I know my cousin's DH is an amazing cook. I just doubt he'll make anything I can eat. I'm going to try and get through the weekend as clean as I possibly can and not give in to my instinct to emotionally eat through a crisis.

Gypsy, speaking for myself, I don't think that the urge to turn to food in a time of emotional crisis will EVER pass. It's still, ALWAYS, my first instinct. When I'm upset, or extremely stressed, my first desire is to eat. And not things that are good for me either, always high carb, high sugar food. I think that we just learn to deny that urge, and realize that it really isn't going to make us feel any better. In fact, in the end, it makes us feel worse. I kept hoping that the longer that I ate this way, that my desire to eat when upset would pass....... but it just hasn't. I guess we just learn to ignore and not give in to it.

I'm so sorry that you're going through all of this, and I hope that the trip goes as well as it can. (((HUGS)))

I managed to get through my MIL's quick illness and passing without eating off plan. Trying to build on that accomplishment. I tell myself that my primary reason for this WOE is for my health. A good 75%-80% health. 20%-25% vanity. I have lost so many people and animals in the last 2 years. I do not want a premature death. My uncle with cancer is only 51. My mom's baby brother. Growing up, he was more like the brother I never had or a cousin because he's only 7 years older than I am. He has A-fib and has had several mini-strokes in the last 10 years. Just shy of a year ago, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and given 6-8 months to live. He was living alone in the middle of nowhere Montana. My cousin made multiple offers to him inviting him to come live with her. He finally went to her in early December. He was feeling great, putting on weight and happy to be with family again. Last week he was in horrible pain and had a fever. He went to the hospital and has a severe infection in his gallbladder. They can't really do anything other than heavy duty IV antibiotics because the tumor is now essentially surrounding the gallbladder and if they nick the tumor, he'll bleed out pretty much immediately.

I know that my instinct to eat sugar is so ingrained in my brain that I'll probably never be able to change it. I also know that I can't let that part of my brain rule the rest of my body. And I feel like total crap when I eat crap. I get bloated, headaches. It's not good. And I don't want to sabotage myself. After I get to maintenance and want say a slice of cake on my birthday, I will have it, but I also know that I am going to feel like garbage for eating it.

Ah Gypsy, I'm so sorry. It's so much to deal with! But it does sound like you have it under control and are handling it very well. Be proud of yourself, and continue to get through this the way that you have been.

Holy COW MtherGoos I feel for you. Take care of the family and even if the scale does not reciprocate it will be more numbers when your stress level falls to normal.

GyspySixpence I am glad you are getting to do your trip. It will probably be hard and life changing but in the end you won’t regret you did it. I hate to see families go through it but in my line of work it is common. FYI I am eating peperoni and cheese sticks while reading about you packing the same.
