Hello everyone,
I am very excited to have come across this thread! January has been a rainy month here in Vancouver Canada but luckily no snow at all. It is getting warmer and I am seeing some of my plants start to come up in the garden which makes me so excited for spring.

Today I weighed in at 168.4. This month I would like to lose 6 pounds and get down to 162.4. I also would love to de-clutter my house and maybe get rid of some of my "fat clothes". My other goal would be to save some more money so I can have some fun in the summer time.

Take care everyone!
Em

Ahhh I would like to see 192 by the end of the month.

I would like to figure out what I am going to order at Bone Fish Grill for Valentines day that will not knock me out of Ketosis. I am assumeing Bang Bang Shrimp will be out.

I would like to get to three days a week running on the treadmill.

Now for today. I enjoyed my wings during the super bowl. I did not enjoy my team being destroyed on the field. I did enjoy winning $400.00 on a bet. I did not think my numbers could possibly win but with such a weird game it worked out for me. I got crazy excited when I found chicken wing frozen in bag clean with nothing on them. Now I can control what is in the sauce which wont be wheat. Ohh and I ran three miles straight first time this year and first time in many months.

Good Morning Everyone
Well my first day yesterday and it was brilliant, I made a flax minute muffin for breakfast, and a cheese and ham crustless quiche for lunch but only had one slice, and then steak, tomatoes and onions in the crockpot served with cauly mash and green beans for dinner, honestly the best dinner I have had in ages.
But I still weigh the same this morning so hope I am not doing something wrong, I have read so much over the past month that I can't remember now if it takes a few days to get your body into burning fat, or did I eat something that wasn't on induction...if anything in my menu looks dodgy can someone let me know x
Anyway so far I am loving it.
Thank you Julie and Mothergoose for your advice, I will always be one step ahead of preparing from now on x
Hope you all have some loses today, I can't wait to read everyone's posts...I am five hours ahead of you time wise so have to wait ages for you all to wake up lol.
Feb 1st 164
Feb 2nd 165 as not prepared and ate pizza
Feb 3rd 165

Hello All! I hope I'm not too late to join in the February challenge! I officially started LC yesterday weighing in at 152.4 and would like to drop at least 10lbs this month (ultimate goal is 125).

Lack of consistency always gets me in trouble but I'm tired of gaining and losing the SAME 10 lbs!
Im determined to reach my ultimate goal once and for all.

Happy Monday to you all and I look forward to giving/receiving support!

Morning all! I'm still at 310 this morning but I'm pretty sure I am holding water as I lifted weights for an hour yesterday. I know that lifting weights is going to slow the number on the scale down but I'm ok with that! Inches are more important to me than pounds anyways!
Have a good day everyone!!

Wow, so many new friends.

Don't know what's going on with my scale. I'm perplexed!! Yesterday was nothing more than:
bowl of broth
4 ribs
3 coffee w/hwc
2 diet coke
Maybe I need to see my doctor. For the last 5 days I have been waking with a puffy belly and now my scale is going upward while being 100% on plan?? I'm just disgusted and bewildered. Do I have to change diets??

Bonny, by the sounds of it, you are just not eating enough. This will shut down your metabolism regardless of being in ketosis. There was a major lack of fat in what you listed - this will bung you up as well. Basically all you had for food was four ribs - thats not exactly a proper meal for an entire day.

Consider using the BMR calculator to see what you need to eat calorie-wise just in order to keep all your major bodily functions going, eat below this, and you slow down everything.

Kemp found the same thing, he had to increase when he saw how much he was under-eating.

Hi Again, I was thinking about having kale tomorrow to try and up my veg intake, but after researching carbs in kale there are so many different opinions, some say its to carby, and some say the fibre outweighs the carbs, does anyone here have an opinion, I don't want to sabotage myself this early in the game.
My idea was to make a lamb casserole in the crock pot adding leeks green beans mushrooms celery pepper etc etc and also kale, I was thinking then of taking half the mixture out when cooked (not the lamb) and putting it in my processer to blend down with some of the juices from the lamb and then to add back to the casserole to make it thicker, not sure if that makes sense lol, it was just an idea but I would love to hear if you think kale has to many carbs and might stall me.....thanks Sandy

Yesterday wasn't usual but I tried to cut consumption hoping the scale would move. I was just tryna shake things up. I think you're right about the calories and/or fat being too low. I don't think fat is an issue as I get lots from hwc but I think I have no choice but to add a little something, something. LOL. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it very much.

Bonny it would be really interesting if you upped your calories and then had a drop tomorrow, I love learning things and I know I am probably going to run into the same problem sometime, so it is going to be interesting to see what you do and how you get it to move, are you going to up your calories do you think, or maybe just wait and see what happens tomorrow.
By the way I would be interested to know what hwc means, I have sat here for ages trying to figure it out...I came up with hot water coffee lol, or hw coconut, I have a feeling its something to do with coconut as you were talking about fat, but can't for the life of me think of what hw is apart from hot water lol.

Can I join? I have been on a modified (vegetarian) Atkins Induction since Nov 20th. I am using all the big guns: <20 carbs + JUDDD + Nutritional Ketosis + IF

My Goal for Feb is 8 - 10 pounds

2/1: 154.4
2/3: 153.8

It would be interesting and just what I'm gonna do today. I've already downed 3 scrambled eggs and going to try some lunch then supper might
be a pork steak and WTH, I might even add a couple of tbsp of Bearnaise. If we can realistically gain a pound a day, then how come I can't lose a pound a day?? I might even go nuts and have some sf jello with whipped cream. OMG, I'm gonna be stuffed but if it works..... bring it on.

For those of you who are discouraged by the day to day fluctuations on the scale (or the scale not budging) don't give up!!!! Stay with it! Low carb works if you stay with it long enough. You may discover some foods along your journey that are low carb but stall you personally (BonnieJean - heavy whipping cream stalls my weight loss, so maybe look for other sources of fats like butter and/or oils???).

Stay the course on this monthly challenge and when February is over you can look at your weight on the first and last day of the month. That's a more broad range view of your progress. Also focus on other good things happening other than the number of the scale. Do you have more energy? Is your "wheat belly" gone? Are your clothes fitting better? Does your complexion look brighter (mine does - yay!) Is your mood/energy level more even throughout the day? Are you sleeping better? There are many many benefits of low carb, not just the number on the scale!

2/1: 169.4
2/2: 170....retaining water from eating too many nuts
2/3: 169.8

Going to the dr on Wed about these leg cramps. I added magnesium a week ago but haven't noticed any benefit yet. For some reason my belly has been puffed up for almost a week now. There's nothing new or added so I hope it's nothing.

Hey Sandy.. here's the link to all the abbreviations. I know it takes awhile to learn them. I had to ask many times myself.

Wow, so many new people posting!! Great to have you all here.

Thanks Shelly and Justice! I just didn't want to have cook meals yesterday, so I threw some stuff together and it turned out well.

Sandy, first I noticed you are not doing 72 Induction which is okay, just had to know which one you are doing. It does take up to a week to get into ketosis but most are it by 3 days. From what you listed the only thing I do not think is allowed on the newer inductions is the flax. I double checked with the NANY and it is not listed as induction allowed. I know someone here will know more about the newer Atkins inductions, and they will help out I am sure.

Bonny, I know you try so hard at this and are getting very disappointed.
I know I am out there some times on suggestions, but I would say you are stressing so much over not losing that that is working against you. Give yourself a break, quit stressing. I know easier said than done. If the upping calories per day - eating more, doesn't work, then maybe if you purposely throw yourself out of ketosis, it will take a little bit to get back into it, but it may be just what you need to start losing again. I am hoping things definitely start moving in the right direction for you.

Laura, don't give up completely! I haven't been able to give this woe 100% of my dedication like I did before December. Hang in there. Whatever is going on, you can get through it. We both can. You've worked too hard and have sacrificed too much to throw in the towel. I know the scale isn't being kind right now and life is throwing you for a loop. But you will feel much worse if you quit. Be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace. Focus and eating on plan most of the time. Eventually we'll both get that spark back.

Welcome newbies! Glad to see some new faces and make new friends!

I'm going to try and just do weekly weigh-ins instead of daily weigh-ins. I wasn't good at all yesterday. My head isn't in the game at the moment. I have the carb hangover today and its a great reminder why I need to eat lc. So February is going to turn into another month of me focusing on improving my eating instead of focusing on the scale.
