Sandy, I don't know if it was that day that I just drank coconut oil in my tea. Or if it's just hanging in there and toughing it out. Or all the damn squats I do! I eat pretty close to the Atkins '72 version because, for me, it's just easier to stick to. I have cut back on the amount of cheese I eat to about 1 ounce a day. Occasionally 2 ounces. I am a creature of habit and I will eat the same thing over and over (as I did before I changed to this woe). I eat something I love until I get a bit bored and then switch to something else.

I am going to guess that it's mostly just sticking to it. The first 10 days of February, I pretty much lost nothing (I did eat those 2 pieces of pizza on Feb 1 (and ate almost none of the crust!!!) and I think that really had me stuck for awhile.

I'm here... just gettin by for now. Not eating right at all. Just don't have any motivation to get to making food so that I can eat well. Lazy I guess. Also have to share the kitchen now. I went to make a chinese chicken soup tonight and didn't have all my ingredients left they got made into something else. Oh well tomorrow is my Friday so I'll go shopping and get everything again.

Rest of the day went as planed. Ate about 1200 cals 6 carbs. got home and it was still in the fifties so I decided to do my run outdoors. About 10 mins in the wind picked up and the temp dropped quicker that a drunk fighting Mike Tyson. Made it back without cutting it short. Now a nice Lavender Oil bath and off to bed for yet another day of exciting work!

I got a bunch of questions!
  1. What is "bulletproof coffee"?
  2. Is anyone eating fresh fruit right now while lowcarbing? Does it stall you?
  3. For those that have lost half their body weight: Do you have a 2-week menu of exactly what you've eaten to get where you are?
  4. What do you recommend during the moments where all you crave is something sweet?
  5. I have to deal with high Uric Acid (a.k.a. Gout), which means I'm supposed to keep away from the green veggies and proteins like beef. Does anyone else deal with that? If so, what do you recommend to eat?
  6. How much time had passed when you hit the 50lb mark?
  7. I'm pretty "lazy" since I do a lot of computer work, yet I try to walk extra daily. What do you recommend as a simple exercise that doesn't involve going outside in cold weather?

Thank you all for your help!

Morning All: I really should be getting ready for work....
1. Bulletproof coffee: lots of recipes on the net; basically coconut oil & butter mixed into your coffee. Some folks use hwt oil.
2. I rarely eat fruit; about the only thing that is blessed after your out of induction is berries.
3. Home exercises: I have no idea what your current state is however, assuming you can exercise without pain, you can try squats, burpees, kettlebells etc. Lots of routines available online. All depends on what you're capable of without hurting yourself.
Alright, I'm behind schedule. Have a good day folks.

Morning All:

Nothing new since last night.

Slow, slow weight loss but any bit down is good.
Excited to finally be getting my ride into the insurance adjuster today. I'm guessing about 6K damage. During our little heat wave I found out my windshield washer fluid jug got crushed in the accident so that was a scary, dirty ride home!! Oh well, another month or two and she should be all fixed up AGAIN!!! Then 3 months from now we should be cruising with the top down!! Whoo-hoo, can't wait. Next summer I'll be a SKINNY, old lady driving a convertible.

Happy Thursday to you all!!!

bullet proof coffee is coffee with butter and coconut oil blended together. I usually stir it but some people use a stick blender

I Did earlier on, usually only blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.

Glad to see you! I always felt like you and I were similar in losses and now struggles. It seems if I've just been maintaining for the past few months. Hang in there and we'll both get back on track.

Morning all,

Well figured I have to start actually writing down how many carbs I am eating. I am probably way over so no weight loss. Duh!!!!! So starting today I will put everything down like I used to. Hope it helps, but something has to give sometime. Tomorrow I weigh in again not looking forward to that. I think I will just weigh in on Fridays or here and there just to make sure I am doing the right thing and eating right. I have also noticed I keep trying to make casserole and soups which isn't the best thing. Once and awhile is fine but not every day or every other day. Like tonight I have a new recipe I wanted to try called Beef Stroganoff soup (peace, love & low carb). Looks amazing. so after this soup I will try to be better at just meat and side salad or side veggies. I know that will work because that is what I did before just can't figure out why I changed. Oh well now that I know time to move in the right direction.

Hope everybody is having a good day. So far so good

Menu:
B - coffee, hwc, 1 tsp sugar, 3 eggs, 1 oz cheese (8 carbs)
L - chicken salad (2 carbs)
D - 2 cheeseburger patties, mayo, onion, lettuce, 6 grape tomatoes (7 carbs)
S - almonds (6 carbs)

Total = 23 carbs oops....Little things add up

Pam I have actually thought the exact same thing today....I am eating to many veggies, and throwing loads of them into casseroles or stir frys, leeks, onions, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, mushrooms....way to much I think for me...so today I am trying an experiment of no veggies...dinner is just going to be home made burgers with bacon and a touch of cheese....it will be interesting to see if it works...fingers crossed then lol.

I missed the last couple of days weighing in. I've been working so hard that when I get home I pass out in my recliner! I'm on plan and doing good. I'm going to the gym for the first time today since getting back on plan. My gym shoes will be shocked!

Pam, I love it when we all put down what we eat. It helps me get ideas plus if I'm eating something wrong, someone will say hey, you big dummy....pecans are not on induction! I know you are not really putting SUGAR in your coffee babycakes!

I am!!!!!

I know not for induction but I am also doing Paleo and Primal (really the same) and not using any artificial anything. It's just bad all the way around. We don't need anymore cancer running around here so nothing but organics (ok maybe 80% just too costly) and healthy foods. 1 teaspoon of organic sugar is only 4 carbs. So I am trying to cut that down to 1/2 tsp or none depending on the day. But if I am good the rest of the day 1 tsp won't be a big deal.

Check out 2 of my favorite site. Mark's daily apple and nomnompaleo. Great foods that all work for Atkin's but you are just taking it a step father with organics and nothing processed like Atkin's bars, shakes, fake sugars etc. They also don't have a lot of cheese like Atkin's. I am not again cheese and have some daily, but the rest I try to stick too. They are all so close in WOE.

Try the cheaters stew from nomnompaleo or the Mexican beef. So darn yummy.....

Up another .5lbs today.. that makes 4.5lbs since last Friday.. What a disaster.

I got up at 4:45 to make hubby a nice birthday breakfast before we went to work this morning but because I’ve been eating so poorly my stomach totally revolted last night with major bloat and cramping which has carried through to this morning.
OK!! I GET IT!! LAY OFF THE CARBS!!
So.. Out of respect for what my body is trying to tell me I decided I will make Spaghetti and Meatballs tonight for hubby and just have the meatballs (sans bread crumbs).. I was going to do Chinese Food for him but I don’t think my stomach can take much more of what I have been putting it through. I brought a couple turkey pepperoni sticks and some stuffed olives for a snack but I’m not sure if I really even feel like eating anything today, may just hold off until dinner.. Guess we’ll see if I get hungry.
I suppose if nothing else maybe this upset stomach will knock me back on the right track?! Here's hoping!

Krista - have you tried picking up some zucchini and making them into noodles. If hubby doesn't like it ,just use them for you only. I bought a Zoodler from amazon for $39 or so and love it. I just make zucchini noodles for hubby me and one boy and the rest get reg. noodles. The meatballs can be made with no carbs and the best sauce to use is RAO's. it's a bit pricy but awesome and very low carbs. Or you can make your own sauce which I have done tons of times to save on money. So in other words you spaghetti dinner can be low and Atkin's friendly.

We actually eat a lot of spaghetti squash.. I prefer it over noodles (most days.. Every now and then I want pasta.. But most days)
He just really likes pasta with this particular dish.. I thought about doing up some spag squash for myself but I’m just really not in the mood for a big dinner tonight. (The meat balls are no carb and the sauce is fairly LC.. So good to go for tonight!!)
I don’t think I could get him to eat Zoodles, but it’s something to keep in mind should the squash get too dull!!!

Ya know how sometimes over the night it snows but its to warm so it melts but then the temp drops below 10 so it freezes into a sheet of ice but then it snows again resulting in Carmagedon when everyone is trying to go to work? Well that happened today. Thought I was never going to get here.

February 12: 154.4 (135 squats)
February 13: No w/i (140 squats/arm weights/push-ups)
February 14: 156 (rest day, but shoveled heavy snow for an hour) TOM
February 15: 154.4 (150 squats/arm weights) TOM
February 16: 154.2 (155 squats) TOM
February 17: 153.2 (160 squats/arm weights) TOM
February 18: 152.4 (rest day) TOM
February 19: 151.6 (180 squats/arm weights)
February 20: 150.4!!! (185 squats)

February goals: Complete the 30 day squat challenge that I was crazy enough to join to with my crazy friend!

Figure out a planking/push-ups routine for my ab work.
Arm weight routine every other day (as tolerated). Damn tennis elbow is still with me.

Weight goal: 147...but to be honest, I will be thrilled to see anything in the 140s. I haven't seen the 140s since early 1998!

Sandy, I got off and on the scale several times to make sure that my eyes weren't seeing what I wanted them to see!!! When I hit the 140s, I'm sure there will be some screaming happening! And then the family will come running because of my screaming. Or else I'll just stand there and cry.

Hello everyone!!! It has taken me three days to catch up on this thread!
I should have checked in earlier, but sometimes, when I go out of town, i just leave everything behind.

I'm back from Miami (south beac), which was a blast. AND I wore my little bathing suit and even got another new fancy one (on sale but still expensive) on the beach and at the pool. I just walked around south beach (FABulous art deco architecture) and read and walked and spent time with my BF, who is a total DOLL, btw.

I haven't weighed in a while --and I still can't because both the bathroom ceilings are being repaired - as well ast he kitchen ceiling. there is dust EVERYWHERE.

Mthrgoos i am so sorry about your pupster and everyone else who has had losses, I am sorry as well.

Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.
Hey! You don't have to drink all that water!

DQ and Laura, so nice to see you both! DQ, I'm glad you had fun in Florida! We want to see pictures!!!!

Laura, I know you're frustrated, but you can do this. Don't give up. Even if you just focus on maintaining for now, that's a victory in itself!

Shelly, nice drop today!

Gypsy, you're having a GREAT month! Like Sandy, I'll be doing the happy dance for you when you hit the 140's! So amazing!

James, I don't envy you driving on that ice! Be careful!!

Cuda, just jump right back on track and the bloating and stomach pain will go away. It's a good sign that eating too many carbs makes you feel ill, it will help you to stay on track.

Lily, nice drop!! You're having great losses this month!

Sandy, the carbs in the veggies can have a way of creeping up on you. You might try weighing them and entering them into a tracker just so you know exactly how many carbs you're getting from them. Or cut them out completely for a few days and see how you do.

Bonny, I'm so glad that they are going to fix your car for you! I know you were worried that they would total it out! Definitely want to see pictures of the skinny, NOT old, you driving around with the top down!

FattyBoBatty,
What is "bulletproof coffee"?
There are a ton of recipes for bulletproof coffee, but the point of it is to get more fat into your day, without extra protein. Many people use it instead of breakfast.

Is anyone eating fresh fruit right now while lowcarbing? Does it stall you?
I don't eat fruit at all. When I get to goal, I'll try adding in some things like blueberries, or raspberries and see how my body tolerates them, but while I'm actively trying to lose, I'd rather not take a chance that they will stall me.

For those that have lost half their body weight: Do you have a 2-week menu of exactly what you've eaten to get where you are?
I tend to eat the same menu over and over, just because I like to. For breakfast, I typically have 4-6 pieces of bacon. Lunch is 2 eggs mashed into a bowl and mixed with 2 Tablespoons of Mayo, some Mustard, and 1 Tablespoon of MCT oil. Snack is 3/4 ounce of extra sharp cheddar cheese. Dinner is almost always some type of meat on the grill, such as Ribeye, Pork Steak, or Hamburger Patties.

What do you recommend during the moments where all you crave is something sweet?
You could make some fat bombs, but I honestly found that the longer I stayed on plan and just kept the sweets completely out of my diet, the easier it was and the less I craved them. Yes, when I smell the fresh baked donuts at the grocery store, they smell wonderful, but I don't actually have a craving for them. The longer I'm away from them, the less I have the desire for them.

How much time had passed when you hit the 50lb mark?
I honestly don't know. I know I've lost right at 125 pounds in just under a year, but I don't remember how long it took to reach 50 pounds.

I'm pretty "lazy" since I do a lot of computer work, yet I try to walk extra daily. What do you recommend as a simple exercise that doesn't involve going outside in cold weather?
Honestly, up until now, I've lost the weight without any exercise. I just now started adding it in. There's so much that you can do at home! Even if it's just walking in a circle around your living room while you watch TV at night, or get a small trampoline (I think they are around $20) and use it to jog on. If you want to work out, there are plenty of ways to do it at home.

I haven't been weighing this month, but am planning to hop on the scale tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!!! HOWEVER, I am wearing a belt today, for the first time in 10 years, AND it's a size S/M, AND I have it in the third hole!
