WOE: Atkins '72 Extended Induction!
Start Date: Sept 16, 2013
Sandy and BulldogMom: Well, thanks but that's not even the pic that drove me to Atkins, pretty close but that was very kind of you!! Glad I didn't put it into my signature.

James: ah, yeah the trials and tribulations of having young ones!! LOL. Hope your evening was wonderful.

Arb: Every indulgence has a consequence but we all have to have the occasionally one just to keep our sanity and stay on our WOE!! As long as you can deal with the scale the next day or two, I think it is a necessary evil sometimes. It's better to sacrifice one day or one pound than giving in completely!!

pcaltman: maybe the drop was emotional. Your endorphins kicked in. You were happy and content and it showed on the scale.... maybe??? You enjoyed a win-win which doesn't happen very often to us! LOL.

well, I guess I'm gonna be dancing around 184 for a few more days. Ugh.

Oh, forgot to mention............ I tried the "Silk" milk this morning.

Hmm, not crazy about it. Holy, it's quite a change from hwc!!! My coffee is tasting very bitter and the milk is kinda watery, well certainly
compared to hwc!! Plus the Truvia I started using instead of Splenda isn't as sweet as they claim but I may have to suffer thru to reduce calories. I've gone from 2 - 300 in hwc to 30 in this, so that's pretty substantial!! I tastes like
skim milk and all I can taste is bitter coffee!! LOL. I don't really like coffee that much, probably why I put so much milk and cream in it. Hopefully I can get used to it.

On my 2nd cup and added 2 Truvia (6 carb) and extra milk. Nope... still tastes bitter. When the box of Truvia is gone I think I'll go back to Splenda.

Bonny-Jean, You are too hard on yourself! Its nice to see you even if its an older picture.

Arb, You know I'm going to say it.......but its just water retention and you'll lose that weight again. I'm sure you haven't eaten enough food to gain over 2 lbs of fat in two days.

Sandy, Same as Arb. I'm sure the gain is from water retention since you ate a lot of high sodium foods. Its not a big deal since you should lose it fairly quickly.

pcaltman, nice drop!

I didn't weight today. The hubby wouldn't get out of the bathroom and I hate weighing when anyone is in the room.

Good morning everyone! After being stuck for three days, my scale finally moved. So yey for that, but I'm having a kind of blah day. Have to watch out today for boredom eating.

To chime in on the hwc chat...I can't give mine up. I've given up the sugar, carbs and diet pop but I draw the line at the hwc. I try to use less than I did before plus I'm trying different coffee blends to find a smooth one. I can't make it without coffee and the hwc is my treat. I use the liquid splenda, EZ Sweets that Kent Ultena talks about in his youtube videos. One drop equils one packet of spenda. Very sweet. If I stall or weight loss slows, I'll have to look at measuring it and looking at my calorie intake.

The hard part of Atkins for me is having to be ever vigilant about everything I eat and drink. Carbs and sugars then calories are sneaky!

Happy Sunday to all ~ not weighing in till Wednesday because I do not want to see the damage from Valentines popcorn at the movies followed by Schnitzel and wine, LOL
Saturday I finally received my copy of Atkins 72, yay! I read it through and am totally recomitted to the program and even got my DBF on board. Atkins explanations and instructions make So much sense, it's almost embarassing that we did not come to the same conclusions on our own, LOL.

Today I will make my super yummy, luxurious (to use the good Dr's words) lunches and snacks for the week using his tips and recipes. If you have not dipped into his actual book for guidance, motivation and recipes, I encourage you to give it a look. You may be able to find it in your library, and most certainly on Amazon for a very reasonable price. I am an old hand at LC, but still needed the refresher.

Baddabing, The joys of having young kids. I'm currently there myself. Everything in my house has been puked on, pee'd on, colored on or had food/juice spilled on. One day we'll have nice things again and everything will smell like roses. LOL

Shelly, Sending hugs! Nothing to say that hasn't been said before. I would put that scale in my driveway and run over it though.

Bonny, have you tried the sugar free creamers? My BF uses them in his coffee and he really enjoys them. He probably drinks at least 6 cups of coffee a day and it doesn't seem to hurt his losses.....he's 7 pounds below his goal weight. I hate him. LOL

Okay, so as I've already said, I'm staying away from the scale this month and I'll wait and weigh at the end of the month. My losses have become so slow that the daily weighing makes me nuts. But I did add in exercise this month to see if that would help. Although I'm not a big believer in exercise helping with the scale numbers, I figure I might as well since the scale isn't moving for me anyway.

Being as obsessive as I am, I still wanted to make sure my body was staying in Ketosis, so I've been measuring my blood ketones more often than usual, just to see how things were going and how the exercise is effecting me. My blood ketones, in a fasting state, typically measure between 2.1-3.1. I've noticed that since I started exercising, they're measuring consistently in the 3.5-3.6 range. Which says to me, that when I'm doing even the little bit of exercise that I'm doing, I'm definitely burning more fat! YAY!! Last night I didn't exercise, and my ketones measured back down to 3.1 this morning. To me, that's a pretty definite sign that no matter what the scale says, I'm burning more fat with even my 30 minutes of exercise every day.

BulldogMom, I have some bad news for you..... as long as you have dogs in the house, you will continue to have things puked on, peed on, or pooped on. LOL No kids at home any more, and still we fight a constant battle to keep things clean as they get full of dog hair, or somebody gets sick, or something!

Lily, when you feel that boredom eating start to take hold, come here and read and post. Seriously, it helps a lot and it makes you not want to just snack out of boredom.

Strgzr: I've also given up sugar, carbs, diet coke, hwc and MIO but I'll do whatever it takes to move that scale. My coffee with hwc was my mental/emotional fix after work but I'm a little OCD about getting this scale to move. One day I might add it back but right now I want some progress so sometimes it is a price we must pay. Maybe I could even get off the coffee. That wouldn't be so bad.

BulldogMom: You are so kind. Such a sweetheart!!

Mthergoos: Sugar free creamers??? ie??? Are they flavoured?? Not a fan of flavoured coffee at all. BIG fan of milk though!!

Oh, I'm so sorry! I love Silk almond milk but I would never have suggested it as a substitute for cream in coffee. Yuck! It's like skim milk in that regard. It is great as a base for cream/cheese sauces and as a substitute for milk in cereal (I have some great lc granola recipes I use it with). But definitely not in my coffee. I mean, unless I use 8 oz of it and steam it into a latte with a bit of espresso. Otherwise it's just too thin and doesn't lighten the coffee at all.

Oh, you are so right!!! Major yuck!! Oh well, now that I have 1/2 gallon of this stuff I guess I'll just finish it and that might be it! I can probably get used to it as I've gotten so used to many others things, eewww like drinking water! Gag!

Sorry Bonny, the sugar free creamers are flavored. I've never looked for an unflavored version, but they might make one.

Where are Missy and Laura?????

Oh No way I can give up my HWC! Gave up the powdered creamer I used to use and I can Not drink my beloved coffee black. Trying to stay LC today! Lower LC anyway. Nothing but coffee for breakfast cause not hungry. After Church I had to go get DD from her friends house so I grabbed some Hot wings and ate them on the way with a 23 oz water. Right now i'm taking a break and grabbed a bag of sunflowerseeds.

Shelly, you do always stay pretty low carb anyway don't you? Do you think food is the issue? Or hormones?

I had a customer tell me today that if I get any smaller they'll have to tie a string to me so I don't blow away in the wind. Total lie, I'm nowhere near small, but still very very nice to hear.

DH was super psyched to report to me today that he weighed in at 240.6. He's now down 26 pounds since Thanksgiving (And he did a total 10 day blow out at Christmas). Down 10 pounds in the last month. He's excited to be almost into the 230s. And it's extra awesome because one of his daily meds definitely makes weight loss more challenging. He's looking great. He has no actual goal weight. I think he needs to definitely be under 200. He's 6' tall. Carries all his weight in his mid-section and I can't remember what that danger waist circumference is for men, but I want him under that number!

Lately my problem has been carb creep I think. Especially the last week or so. If I really think about it and look at ALL I eat it adds up faster then I think. I just need to get my *ss in gear and quit picking at stuff all day! Plus I do feel like there's something going on with hormones. Either female hormones Or Thyroid!

Shelly have tried using a tracker for a few days? Just to get an accurate tracking of exactly what you're eating. Calories, fat, and carbs? I know it's a pain in the neck, and you don't have to do it all the time, but maybe just for a few days to get an idea of exactly where you're at. Also, it might help you to think twice about the snacking if you know that you have to enter it in your tracker.

So this weekend has just gone to the dogs. We were up all night with a kid who sounded like a barking dog and would caught so much that he would throw up. I have a monstrous pile of thrown up on clothes, bedding, towels, etc. Finally at 8a we could go to urgent care and we found out he had the croup which we already assessed on our own but we knew if we did not get this little one on steroids he would go insane. So when we got home at 10a we knew we could not leave this guy with a new babysitter and we were too exhausted to go to the thing we were going to do. In a way this could have been awesome with regards to the diet but last night when I was unable to go to the store I ordered a pizza for the kids of which one was able to keep in and a thin crust for me. I figured I was going to have sugar and alcohol all Sunday afternoon so what difference would it had made.

So here is the weird part. I never felt like I got out of ketosis. I checked around midnight and was showing ketones, then again this morning same result, then again this evening and still good. Hold on I have to pee so let me check again. Yep still good. I did not get hungry; in fact I am eating my first and probably only food this evening at 4p. I like to think I can be in ketosis while consuming pizza but that is just silly talk. I will chalk this up as just a weird thing and go on my way.

So now I have a really sick and miserable baby who will most likely make by 5 year old miserable in a few days and a suit I did not need and by the time I do will not fit correctly. I guess I can wear it to work or something even though I have been doing scrubs these days.

Hey! Just checking in. Been a busy weekend with lots of kid activities. Managed to avoid the pizza and cake at a birthday party today for a classmate of my 7 yr old son. Tomorrow we are heading to a local casino with friends to celebrate a birthday. Hope I'm lucky! I only play the slots as I'm too chicken to play any of the table games. We don't go often but it's a nice treat when we do. Looking forward to a good lunch too!

Baddabing, sorry to hear about your kid being sick! Always scary! Hope he's better soon!

Hope everyone has a great night. It's pretty sad that it's only 7pm and I'm already in my pajamas in bed with my ipad!

I just realized I am down 20 pounds from my re-start! And of course I totally blew the LC from December 21-29. That's not bad!

MtherGoos here I am. Sorry to hear about your Rott... They are the greatest most lovey dogs ever. I miss mine every day. Fred was the best dog I ever had.

Just sort of out of it. I fell today getting the Buddy's tie out chain unwrapped from under the steps. So sitting here in pain and hungry to boot. DBF is cooking ribs and cabbage soup for me, it smells so good. Lets see if I can get back in the swing of things and get back to losing some weight. Back up to 199.6 today but that is down from where I was 2 days ago.

Gypsy: That's pretty darn good. Happy for you!

Baddabing: Whoa, rough weekend. The pizza was probably the lesser of two evils! Wishing your baby a quick recovery and hopefully no one else will get ill.

Mthergoos: Happy for your hubs and it is always a little easier for them. I believe our systems are just so much more complex than a man's with our hormone issues and TOM, etc, etc. I think I read the danger zone for our waist size is 40 for men and 32 for women. Yikes!! I haven't seen 32 in 10 yrs!!

BulldogMom: Embarrassed to say that pic is only 8 months old!!

>>>>>>>>>Almost forgot to tell y'all that I had to go buy smaller dress pants for work and bought 3 pr size 16 from the Misses section as the "plus" section is now too big. Yay!! Anyway, it must have been a large cut cause I had to exchange the 16 for a 14. Wow. I'm very happy right now. When I pulled the 14 tonight to try it on, the waist looked too small. Oh-oh.... OMG, they fit!!! I was so excited I thought I would try my Harley jacket on but alas that looks like it's gonna take 20 more lbs for sure.
Oh well, I'll get there one day!!
