Off to the gym tonight. Hopefully it's not packed like a sardine can! So, anyone have any go to recipes for Valentine's Day? I don't dare go out; restaurants are packed and finding a place that understands what EXTRA vegetables means is like finding a chicken with teeth.
Have a good evening folks...
Sweetheart steak, (Most butchers carry them now, it is just a thick steak cut to look like a heart.... hmmm... sounds creepy when I see it in writing) and some fat lobsters! Cook as desired and serve with garlic butter

Thank God I still have some credit with the butcher near where I work. I was planning on a seafood dish but I'm sure steak will do the trick.
After 20+ years, romance for us is hearing "hey, the boys are playing X-box, do you want to......."
Anyhow, with that pleasant picture in mind, it's off to the gym

I need to vent. And I have no real place to do it. So please indulge me and let me get this off my chest so that I don't just go to the store and buy a vat of ice cream and drown myself in it.

Last night, I made a post on facebook about how "COPD really sucks. It is hard to watch someone struggle so hard for each breath. If you smoke. Quit. Keep trying to quit. Put patches all over your body and chew all the gum. Please just keep trying to quit." Several comments into this post. I said something about it being my MIL. A couple of my FIL's sisters saw the post and commented with "WTH???" As soon as I got to the hospital today, one of my SILs came flying out of my MIL's room and started whispering in my ear "Take it down, take down the post!!! FIL is PISSED." I took down the post as soon as I could get my Kindle open and access facebook. Apparently my FILs siblings were calling him to ask what was going on. Now, we were at the hospital all day yesterday. He made multiple phone calls. We're talking he called her damn hairdresser to say "Yeah, she won't be back in because she'll be dead in a few days."

I mean seriously, I ASSUMED that a person would call their brother and sisters to let them know what was going on before you would call the hairdresser and the sprinkler guy to tell them that you're wife is dying. I feel bad because I would never, ever intentionally hurt another human being (or an animal for that matter). I am the person that keeps a cool head in an emergency. I always send the sympathy card and check on people in a crisis or death situation. I make and drop off the casserole or pot of soup. I take friends out to lunch. I send them a note to let them know I am thinking of them.

Now this FIL is the same man that 19 days after my own father died went out to dinner with me and DH for DH's birthday and proceeded to tell me during the ENTIRE 2 hour dinner about how "You didn't love your father." "What do you care, it's not like you loved him." "At least you'll get all his money now." They did not come to my dad's funeral, send a card, send flowers. Nothing. They just spewed vicious crap like that at me for 2 straight hours. They talked of nothing else during that dinner. I sat there and cried the entire time. I have never pretended that my dad and I had the best relationship or that my dad was a great dad, but he was my father and I loved him and he loved me in his limited way.

I feel bad, but I really feel I was not in the wrong. I said nothing about my MIL or FIL being bad people (even though they have never been particularly kind to me. They are both raging alcoholics. And the racist and redneck comments never stop coming). Even though I do not like my MIL very much, I have incredible compassion for her as a human being that is suffering and nearing the end of her life. I feel horrible for her. And my FIL. And my SILs and my DH. I am sorry that he feels that I let the cat out of the bag. If I had thought for one millisecond that the rest of the family didn't know, I never would have said a thing.

Thanks for letting me get this out of my system. Rough day.

(((HUGS))) Gypsy. I'm so so sorry. You don't deserve what you're going through. I'd like to say that maybe he's acting out of grief, but it sounds like maybe he's just that type of person.

There's nothing I can say to make the situation any better, but know that we're here for you and you can vent to us any time!

Thanks, MtherGoos. My MIL is actually dying with a grace and calmness that I never would have expected. She's happy enough now to smile at all of us. And let us hold her hand and brush her hair. And tell her little jokes. Yesterday, DH and our DSs went out to their house to move a bunch of the furniture so that hospice can come in and set up all the gear for MIL.

I know my FIL is grieving and is being irrational. And that many grief stricken people act in very odd ways. On the other hand, this is par for the course for him. I have never been able to win with them. I was golden for awhile when I first produced the grandchildren. Then I was a horrible person for staying home when the kids were small and letting all the financial burdens fall on my DH. As soon as the youngest was in school full time, I started working. Then I was a terrible mother for abandoning my children. DH's job ended early, so he was always home by the time the kids got home from school. We were fortunate that we never had to put them in daycare. So the first few years, they were nice (and their brains weren't as pickled in booze). And then after DH's stroke they were sweet as pie to me because I played a large part in saving DH's life. That only lasted until about 6 months after the stroke. Now I'm on the S*** list again.

Oh Gypsy, I really feel for you and am sorry for what you are going through. It is a horrible feeling to know no matter what, you will never measure up to their expectations. Just know their expectations and judgements are NOT a reflection on who you are but their own personal demons. Hang tough and keep knowing who you are. It's a hard road, but you seem to already know it's their hangups and not you. Prayers with you. I face similar issues with my family, my in-laws are accepting of me - kind of a backward quinky dink there. Anways, vent whenever you need to girl, we are here for you.

Gypsy your post made me so sad for you....I exactly know what you are going through as I had to move countries to get away from my in laws, no matter what I did it was wrong....its a no win situation really, but it made my heart break a bit this morning reading of the stress you are going through, I wish I could find any words that would be able to help you but the only advice I can give is after all of this just keep your distance...to be treated so awful over and over again doesn't do you any good at all, it ends up destroying you, and you can never get rid of the memories of what they have done......it is because you are a nice sweet person that people like this think they can get away with it, if you were one of the mean people out there they wouldn't be so awful to you, but its your goodness and sweetness and not being horrible back that somehow lets them do this to you.
Anyway I truly hope you can put a distance between you and them soon, as you need to surround yourself with the good people of this world and not the bad.
Sending you huge hugs....Sandy

Gypsy, so sorry for what you're going through! Sending hugs and prayers!

Shelly, sending hugs too! Your comment about eating air cracked me up because I have had that same frustration many times! Hang in there!!

My crazy hectic life just came to a screeching halt as I woke up to a foot of snow and they're expecting up to 18 inches before the day is over! Holy cow! We don't get snow like this in Virginia normally. I imagine kids will be out of school rest of the week. I'm thankful the govt closed so I don't have to make the long commute this morning. The roads are treacherous. I'm hoping I don't have to go back to work until Tuesday since Monday is a holiday. I think it will take a few days to get the roads clear. I hope to use these days off to get more exercise and see some movement on the scale. I keep having ups and downs but overall no real movement. I haven't been perfectly on plan every day and I have to cut down on calories again.

Congrats to everyone staying on plan! KUTGW! Sorry for not posting much. Work has been crazy which doesn't leave me any free time given my long commute and mom duties once I finally get home. I'll be online more over the next few days. I always do better when I can read and post often! Hope everyone has a great day!

Nice to see you back again Julie, wow 18 inches of snow, unreal, do you have to shovel as that's good exercise lol, its good you are staying home with the roads being so bad and it will do you good to have a break, hope you get some whooshes soon.

Shelly...Good luck for tonight staying on plan, you are doing so well sticking with it all, it is the hardest when things aren't moving in the right direction, hoping you get some whooshies soon you really deserve it.

Sandy, thankfully hubby and sons will do the shoveling! I do plan to get on the treadmill today though. Have to kick start my metabolism again!

Shelly, happy birthday to your son! Hope you have a good dinner! I also understand the lack of romance issue after being married for 18 years! Hubby now just has me go buy my own gifts for anniversary, valentines, etc. At least I get what I want!

Gypsy, Missy said it very well. With some people, you can never win. You'll never win because they need to put you down to bring themselves up. Family can be the worst sometimes. I'm sorry for all that you are going through. We're here for you to vent anytime.

Darn you Atkins bars! I believe its shark week.....or pre-TOM. I'm moody and want to eat everything in sight. I read somewhere that merely thinking about carbs can cause you to gain weight. I'm hoping that merely thinking about exercise will cause me to lose. I'll let you all know how that works out for me. LOL

Welcome Michelle!

Congrats to all of our losers!

Julie, that's a lot of snow! Glad you have it and we don't. Our kids are having to go to school for 3 Saturdays which messes up everyone's plans. Parents and teachers are not happy.

Shelly, I don't want to be an advocate for cheating. My oldest is celebrating her 8th birthday on March 1st. I'm definitely having a piece of her cake. I have found that if I drink a low carb protein shake with something carby, I don't suffer the full effects of the cheat. Weight gain is kept to a pound, I get less bloating and the cravings don't hit me as bad later on. Its something to think about if you do go off plan.

Good Morning all.
So nice to see so many faces in here still this time of the month. Lots of people seem to have dropped out already.
I had a Dr appointment yesterday and as you know the first thing they do is make you get on the scale. Since I only weigh on Mondays I was surprised that the scale showed the same weight as mine did on Monday, 192 which is amazing.
So I broke down and hit the scale mid week and to my surprise I was down 1/2 lb

I love my Dr, she is all for our way of eating and fully supports me. She did have me get a blood panel to check all the things I should have since I am old and I do not.
The lab tech asked me if I had anything to eat that morning. I told her only 2 small sausage links and black coffee. She was ok with that since it's close enough to fasting and it had been about 3hrs. Ok this has become a longer post than planned so I will stop and go for my walk. Will take some pictures of our Apricot Tree in bloom and post it later.

Good morning all,

Welcome Michelle...nice work on your losses. I know everyone's body is different, but I wish I could see an 11 lb loss in 9 days.

Have a great day all.

Where is Bonny this morning? She always posts before I get on here for the morning? And Laura, we are missing you!!!

Still doing my thing. Not weighing, but using my treadmill at night to see if I can get things moving.

Found out yesterday that our Rott has bone cancer. It's only been 1 1/2 years since we lost our Pit to cancer, so it was a pretty crappy afternoon. What was my first response (after crying of course)? It was to eat. I had planned to have 2 eggs with some cheese on them for dinner since BF wasn't home last night. Instead I had 3 eggs with some cheese and a dollop of sour cream. Definitely more than I needed for dinner, and I know I was looking for comfort because I was upset. Nothing off plan, but more food than I needed. Will the time ever come when food isn't my first response to stress?

Bulldogmom, yes it is a lot! We just finished shoveling the driveway and it was crazy heavy! I felt guilty so I helped out. Good workout thought! My kids will be in school til July at this rate!

Missy, kids do love it! All the neighborhood kids are out playing in it. Fun as long as I don't have to drive in it!

Mthergoos, sending hugs! What sad news! So sorry to hear that! Glad you only comforted yourself with on plan foods. Hang in there lady!

Michelle Welcome!! Great loss so far! Keep it up!
Nikki So close to the 140's! Congrats girl.. I'm 5lbs behind you so hope I can keep up!
Mothergoos So sorry to hear.. Is there a treatment plan or are do you just let it go until he's no longer comfortable? My Bugg (Boston/Pug) is at the vet this morning himself getting an abnormal tumor removed from his ribs.. It had to be removed regardless so they will biopsy it for cancer after the proceedure. Crossing my fingers.. We have no kids so he's kind of my baby

Good morning. Feeling good get to have temps over 35 degrees today! Got my suit Jacket for 50 bucks and it is being tailored by someone who I dont really understand but I know it will be done by Sat.

Weird thing this morning. I usually do deviled eggs 4 halves and a slice or two of bacon. Today I could not quench my bacon eating until 4 slices. Must need salt or something.

Awesome thing. My work pants are loose and I went down a hole on my belt! Did I use the right loose lose?

Anyway, I have lots of projects to do at work today so I should be busy busy busy.

Have a great day.

James
