Not weighing until I get a new battery this weekend. I am so tired of seeing the same number on that darn scale. I have been on strict induction since the 1st with the exception of one day with summer squash. I am so frustrated not only with the scale but with our rabbits. Luckily the one we brought in the house yesterday is a great mom and her babies are doing very well. The one I went to check on this morning was a first time mom to be and it seems she may have buried her babies. She had dug the birthing hole two days ago and this morning it was completely covered up and packed down with her fur everywhere so I know she must have delivered. This is our worst year ever for rabbits. We raise rabbits and goats for sale each year. This was supposed to be our litters for Easter sale and so now we only have one litter. We actually have waiting lists for both and now I will be having to call several people to let them know we won't have them available this year. I should have bred more of our proven does, but I was giving them a break. Ugggh....Sorry for the rant, just frustrated.

Missy:
Sorry about your bunnies, dear. I have been feeding 3 wild siblings left behind my mom & dad. They are full grown now and living under my back deck. They have gotten very used to me coming home and putting some food out. They hear the car and poke their heads out. I've been giving them a little alfalfa with pellets and a sprinkle of wild bird seed (which is their fav). I just learned siblings will mate and scared to death I'm gonna have a whole brood in the spring. Yikes, what have I done!!!

Good Morning Everyone! No loss for me again today. We're a full week into the month, and I'm only down 1.6 pounds, so it's definitely not looking like I'll meet my goal of 166 this month. I know that as I'm getting closer to goal, I'm supposed to start adding things slowly back in, like low carb veggies, to prepare myself for maintenance, but honestly I feel like I need to tighten things up more than ever in order to continue losing. Of course, the problem with that, is that I have no idea where else I can tighten things up.

Missy, I'm so sorry! That sounds like a lot to deal with!

Mthergoos: With only 25 lbs to go to goal, are you really unhappy with 1.6 in a week!!! I have double that to lose and only scored a big .2!! What if you didn't have a scale..... wouldn't you be thrilled with how you look!!! You should cause you look fantastic.
After yesterday's meltdown I've decided the scale is only gonna be a back up for me and I hope you do the same. You keep telling me it'll come off so I'm telling you the same.

Sorry about your rabbits ~ We raised them when I was a kid, and I completely understand your frustration..... Mom would practically stand watch at the hutches when the kits were due, but sometimes we would lose the litters... very frustrating and sad.

Finally! OK, I know that I said I would not weigh myself again till next Wednesday, but I stepped on the scale again this morning out of habit. Down 2 pounds since Monday! Yes. This totally strengthens my resolve to stick to plan through the weekend.

Well..... perhaps with the exception of 2 cocktails this evening as we are dining out with friends.

Question.... Which is the best choice for an adult beverage to do the least damage to ketosis? Wine or a vodka martini? Instictively I think the wine might do more damage, but I have no information to base that feeling on. Any suggestions?

Bonny, you are so right! I guess sometimes we just need somebody else to put it into perspective for us! I'm just so anxious to get to the next goal, but you're right, it's only a scale goal and we all know what a fickle witch the scale is!

I did buy 5 new shirts online, size large. Of the 5, 1 fits perfectly, 1 is too small, and 3 are too big! So I had to send 3 of them back. I was really bummed because I loved the style, but I was also shocked that a large was too big. I bought the same style a year ago in a 3X and they fit just right. So I guess when I put it all into perspective, I definitely can't complain. I also noticed that a sweater I'm wearing today seems to fit too loosely and isn't very flattering any more. I swear it fit a week ago!

February 1: 156.8 (squats/arm weights/crunches)
February 2: 158.4 (crunches)
February 3: 158.4 (squats/arm weights/crunches)
February 4: 157 (squats/crunches)
February 5: 157 (squats/crunches/arm weights-just deltoids and triceps...elbow is killing to much for bicep work, 90 minutes of shoveling snow)
February 6: 156.2 (finally a day of rest...not really, I need to shovel some more)
February 7: 156.2 (100!!! squats, arm weights, push ups, a lame plank)

February goals: Complete the 30 day squat challenge that I was crazy enough to join to with my crazy friend!

Figure out a planking/push-ups routine for my ab work.
Arm weight routine every other day (as tolerated). Damn tennis elbow is still with me.

Weight goal: 147...but to be honest, I will be thrilled to see anything in the 140s. I haven't seen the 140s since early 1998!

My weight isn't moving as much as I would like, but I can tell I have put on muscle and I am definitely smaller. I am fitting well into all my size 8 clothing. Even the smaller cut 8s fit. It's all progress. The numbers will drop when they drop.

Shoveled for an hour and 15 minutes yesterday non-stop. I am aching today!

Nimuae, most hard liquors have 0 carbs...and of course it depends on what you're mixing it with. If you mix it with a diet whatever, your carbs are going to be pretty nil. Wines can really vary depending on the type. I had a glass on Thanksgiving and one on Christmas.

I am first generation American, my dad was French and came to the US in 1954 with his parents and siblings. Wine has always been a big part of family get-togethers because it is just ingrained in our culture. I do miss it and have nice small collection of wines that sit on the bar mocking me!

Thank You Gypsy ~ Oh, I do miss wine when I am on plan.... I consider it a food group, and that is probably one of the reasons that I let this weight creep back up. I think that I will stick with vodka martini or Gin and diet tonic for the time being, and save my wine affair for Europe, LOL

Yep, Bonny-Jean, it's all about toning and building some muscle. I want to get rid of my "Bingo wings!" And the weight around my belly is the most stubborn! It just wants to hang around forever. My hips aren't big anymore. My calves look pretty darn good, so do my shoulders. I love having collarbones again!

I do many exercises for all the body parts, but my focus has been on the areas that are most stubborn.

Yeah this is scary for me as well. I cold do it, but it would set me back about a month on my ultimate goal. If I hit a true, six week plateau closer to goal, I'd consider this.

In the mean time, we can do this! Stick to your plan. Stick to your plan. Stick to your plan.

Eventually it has to work. Even if it's sloooowwwwlllyyyy. They say that's the best way to lose weight anyway, right? It's so hard to wait, though.

I weighed in this A.M. at 152.4, down .8 since yesterday.

Thanks for sharing your menu. Sometimes, I'm like, oh ya I could eat that instead of this. Or, no wonder she lost 5 lbs she only eats bacon. LOL I'm trying to limit my calories without limiting them. I've got to find some ribeye on sale. I also bought filet mignon/beef tenderloin and chopped it all up into small steaks and can't wait to eat that. I love it! What's everyone's plans for the weekend? Me, just getting stuff done around the house. Throwing all the excess away!! we have so much stuff.

If I do Atkins' 72, exactly how many meals and snacks are there a day? Is there a set limit in portions other than the 2 salad material cups for Lunch and Dinner?

With Atkins 72, you eat when you're hungry and stop when you're not. Learn to listen to your body and distinguish true "hunger" from the "mental hunger", where we just want to eat to eat. You never have to go hungry. So if you're truly hungry for 3 meals and 2 snacks, then that's fine. If you're not hungry, then don't. As you get into Ketosis and start losing weight, you'll just naturally be less hungry and eat less. The only thing you limit, other than the veggies, is cheese. You shouldn't eat more than 4 ounces in a day. Oh, and I think there may be a limit on heavy whipping cream. I don't use it, so I'm not sure about that. Otherwise, just stick to the induction food list and enjoy!

I love reading all the posts! Unfortunately today, they weren't enough to dig me out of scale and tight jean hell...

I'm having a WTH moment. I started the week at 76.3kg and four days later? Am 79kg - thats more than 6lbs in four days. How is this possible??? I know its TOM but this is ridiculous my jeans are tight and I look 5mons pregnant. I tried on my work dresses for next week's meetings, and they are all tight yet slipped on easily just last week. How on earth am I supposed to lie on a beach in a bikini?

I really don't know what to do about this. I haven't had anything, kept carbs below 20g, nothing I haven't been doing. Still working out.

Is this all tom and will hopefully disappear over a few days? I don't think its ever been this bad, I always gain but its never affected clothes fitting or increased my belly this much... And here I was being happy that had lost almost 10kg since my trip last year!

Missy: Are you suggesting I eat off plan for a WEEK??? You mean a meal or two, right??

I wonder how you'd know if you kicked yourself OUT of ketosis?? What if you're not even in ketosis?? Other than the stix, how would you know??

Okay, so my off plan meal was chosen by my ds. We went to a Chinese Buffet. I had a finger full of plain shrimp and 7 other finger fulls of varying meats with MSG sauce (very little) oh, and 3 tbsp fried rice, then one bite each of carrot cake, brownie, lemon tart and 2 tbsp ice cream. Think that did it??? I feel like a nap so I'm not doing this again. Don't like it and don't care if it helps. I think I'll just take the slow and sure road.

Don't stop being happy my dear. It's just a blip! And yes, it probably is just your TOM. Hey, I don't even have TOM issues and I jumped up 2 lbs this week and that's 100% on plan. Sometimes there's no logical explanation. You just have to be strong and patient and stay on plan and it will come back. Besides TOM have you had any meats or otherwise that might be high in sodium??

Hey, girl... a little off topic but I gotta tell ya every time I read a post from you I can't help looking at your puppy's face and it just cracks me up. I don't know how to say this but his face reminds me of how you feel some days. I won't be able to put this the way I want to but you could talk to us thru your Bullies picture. He/She has such a "Meh" look on it's face. Wow, what a face.
(please know I'm saying that with love)

It's been a long day. Got our Taxes done and Thankfully that went Great. Then grocery shopping and getting DD ready to take her act test tomorrow. She's 13 and got invited to take the test early from Duke univ due to her high Iowa testing scores. So Very proud of her. Got a very stressful situation going on with a family member that i'm Praying will be resolved soon and it won't cause problems within the rest of the family. So stress and feeling down this afternoon/evening. But i'm hanging in and will Not let it make me eat Or Smoke!!
