Knocked out of Ketosis?

I have been using Ketostix here and there to see if I'm in or staying in Ketosis..lately it has been in the moderate shade..but today I used it and it was very light in the "Trace" shade...could this be why my weight loss has stalled or why I gained a pound? How can I get my body into full on ketosis? What are things that can stall me?

I've never used the ketostix, but from what I've read the shade can depend on the time of day...and something about that when you are first using them that you should use them every time you pee until you find the time of day that they're the darkest and then just use them at that time of day.


As for stalling, it can be very different for everyone. Atkins says you're allowed 4 ounces of cheese per day, but I can't personally go over 3 ounces or I stall out. I try to keep myself to 2 ounces. Artificial sweeteners can stall people out too. Too much sodium on any given day can make people hold on to more water.

Please give us an idea of your menu and we can try and help you troubleshoot it!

The ketostix are well known for not being accurate for many people. I wouldn't let those make you think you aren't doing the right things.

How long have you been on plan? It's not unusual to have a week or more at a time where the scale won't necessarily move, and then you'll drop 2 or 3 pounds on the scale overnight.

What are you eating? Are you using any bars, shakes or prepared foods? Those can all stall you. Keep your food to real, clean food. Use only the foods that are allowed on Induction.

If you want to post your menus, and maybe give us a little more information, maybe we can help you figure it out, but don't let the ketostix throw you. And if you're just having a few days of not losing, that's definitely not anything to worry about. Just stick with the plan and it will work for you.

It doesn't matter what shade the sticks are. Ketosis is ketosis.
