WOE: Atkins Induction
Start Date: Restart - January 2014
I need some advice please....

I have been on induction for about two weeks and the scale just is not moving. The only thing in my diet that I can think is causing the scale not to move are the Atkins meals. Has anyone experienced the meals causing this. Below is a typical days menu.

B- BPC
L- Atkins meal, diet coke
S- Fat Bomb
D- Hamburger on oopsie roll, sauted green beans, diet coke ( this is what I had last night)

I also make sure to drink 64 oz of water a day.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would get rid of the Atkins meals, Fat bombs and Oppsie rolls for now and go straight induction by the book. I used the Dr Atkins New diet revolution book. It will give your body that jump start it needs

I was thinking the same thing. Last year when I did Atkins I ate the bars and didn't lose but as soon as I stopped the weight fell off. Thanks for the advice.

Diet Coke?

I'd eliminate the diet coke, too. It's sweetness could be tricking your brain and causing insulin release - hence no fat release. I'm not sure what the research says on this but will check later.

You can also just google atkins induction foods and it will give you a list of allowable foods. Any prepared foods can stall. Eat clean, cook yourself and follow the list and you should do better.

I think the diet coke is fine for now. There is another lady here drinking them and is getting great losses. But everyone is different so it could affect you and not her. The biggest things that stood out for me were the atkins meals, because of the sodium, and the oopsie rolls.

Yup, I would agree with all the great advice you've already been given and just stick to real, whole foods that are on the allowed induction list. If you're using the Atkins meals for convenience, then you might want to just spend one day each week prepping all your meals for the week. Grate your cheese, cut up your veggies, cook your bacon, boil your eggs, etc... It makes it so much easier to stay on plan!

Thank you all for the advice. The diet coke is going to be extremely hard for me to give up. I have been limiting myself to only two a day which is great for me. As far as the Atkins meals being for convienence, they are and I got a great deal on them. I am not going to use them for the next couple of weeks to see if I see any difference. I did, however, lose 3 lbs the day after i posted the initial thread. Maybe my body just had to have some think about whether or not it wanted to let go of the weight.

As BulldogMom said above, you don't necessarily have to give up the diet coke. I haven't. I drink a LOT of it, way more than I should, but it doesn't hurt my losses any. If you want to give it up for your overall health, that's great, but if you're just giving it up for your weight loss, you may not need to.

I'd say don't worry too much what the scale shows. When I started that scale was my enemy. I felt just like you do. I just kept at it and what I noticed first even though that scale wasn't moving, I was losing inches. Lots of inches, everywhere. I started atkins years ago and had great results, 50 lbs lost in 6 months, I was also 10 yrs. younger. I got lazy and it all came back.

I restarted again for the 3rd time, this time really determined. So, I restarted in August 2013 at a size 16. Though the scale is not showing a very large drop in weight I did go from a size 16 to a size 8-10 depending on who makes the clothes. Stick with it, come here for support and you will see results. I started at 192 and am now 167. My goal weight is 135- 140

I second Patty, the scale doesn't always make sense. I'm just trying to restart myself but I was doing great two years ago. I started strong for 3 months and lost 30lbs. Then GAH I went on vacation where I was completely off plan for 4 days and the next 3 months I struggled with getting my carbs back down. I lost the 5lbs I had gained on vacation but nothing after that.

Despite the fact that I was not losing any weight, good things were happening because I became pregnant. It would take me entirely too long to explain but my pregnancy was a complete miracle and so much chemistry had to change within my body for it to happen. So even though the scale wasn't telling me anything, a lot was going on

And like you said bam 3lbs came off the next day, so maybe your body was doing some work in the background

This is basically where I am. I was in a size 18 when I started 3 weeks ago and now I am in a size 14. It just seems odd to me that the scale just isn't showing that much of a loss.

checking in. Had a spinal fusion surgery but still managed to maintain the low carb lifestyle. I was able to shave off another 5 lbs. Seems it's coming off very slowly, but it is still coming off. I had almost 3 months of the scale not moving. Im now at 162

Remember that everyone reacts differently to different "foods". I still have my diet sodas and coffee. What I can't have is dairy or nuts or more than probably 8 carbs daily. My suggestion is follow the plan as written, then tweak it once you understand where you can. IMO, as for the prepackaged meals, bars and shakes, I wouldn't eat them if I were starving...

Is it too late to join a challenge? I recently lost over 20 pounds at an office challenge....when it was over I lost my motivation.....I need serious help! I can't find a shred of "I care".....please, somebody, I'm serious.

How do I get past this to get motivated again? I know someone somewhere has faced this and overcome it.
