Rotay, you're not bothering me at all! I don't drink coffee, I've just never liked the taste, so when I have my Tablespoon of MCT oil, I just put it in a cup of hot water, with 1 Tablespoon of DaVinci Sugar Free Carmel Syrup and it makes a sweet, hot drink.

No, I don't ever eat nuts. I prefer to wait and add them in later on, once I start moving on from induction and adding new foods.

Induction day 13!

hi everyone! I am almost done the first two weeks!! I am down 7.4 lbs so far, I hope I am not jinxing myself and up some lbs tomorrow! I have NEVER lost so much in two weeks.

So far I have not had ANY sugar substitutes, first time in my life! I am hunger and craving free, also a first! I know I am on a diet because I am paying attention to the foods I eat and tracking everything BUT I don't feel like I am on some sort of short term deprivation diet. I actually enjoy what I am eating, it is soo satisfying! I mean I get to eat whole fat cheese and whipping cream?!

I always make my family pancakes on the weekend, my kids totally look forward to it. I have decided I am going to try and make legal flaxseed creamcheese pancakes on Saturday morning for myself, with whip cream and a little sugar free syrup (which I will have to hunt down today). I am also looking forward to trying a protein avocado milkshake for breakfast on Sunday.

I think I will continue with induction and I might add blueberries and some nuts here and there. I have 50-60lbs to lose. I started a journal, if you would like to follow my progress! best of luck everyone!

day 14 on induction and still feeling motivated!

hi everyone! I hope your day is going well!

I am on day 14 of induction, results come in tomorrow morning. I am going to make every effort count today and work extra hard. It hasn't been difficult and I am still doubting I can lose weight this way, I feel too good, I don't feel like I am on a strict regimen. I guess I will be convinced if I keep on losing.

What has your average weight loss per week been? I hope to lose 2-3 lbs per week on average, is that reasonable on this plan? I want to continue induction with an occasional addition of blueberries and nuts ( but still keeping it under 25grams).

All the best to you!

by the way, I decided not to buy the pancake syrup. I went to the store last night and I was turned off by the poison syrups they had. I still want to try those pancakes but I will have to come up with an alternative topping. I will let you know what I end up doing.

peace!

Wish, Congratulations on finding a healthy way of eating that you like and enjoy! I LOVE this way of eating!

As to how much you will lose, that varies greatly from person to person. How much you have to lose, health, age, dieting history, and so many other variables all play into it. The most important thing is to stay consistent and have patience. The weight will come off, as long as you stay true to your plan. Remember that, for some people, a "cheat" can stop your weight loss for a week or two. So stay on plan, and be very consistent and the losses will follow.

I have been on induction for a week have lost 7 pounds....I was 312 on day one, but I still think that is pretty good because i switch from a low calorie to low carb without cheating so some of that weight you lose at the start of any diet was already gone. I lost 60 pounds on Atkins several years ago and being back on it I realize already without how much better I feel that I have to eat a low carb diet for the rest of my life. My energy, and my relation to food is so much different. In seven days I feel like a new person! Also, my relationship to food is how I imagine "normal" people feel all the time...I eat when my body is hungry and food suddenly isn't a big deal. I will miss carbs but my body just can't handle them.

Wow...what inspiring stories!!
I am on day 4 of induction and I feel so much better already!! I am down 7 lbs as of this morning and I am so happy. I did LC many years ago and lost 80 lbs. Of course like so many others I looked at it as a means to an end, or a "Diet" and as soon as I started eating the way I used to I gained it all back and then some. I am doing it by the book as best I can, eating no more than 20 grams of carbs per day (most days I barely get to 10 carbs), and most of those are from veggies. I have about 100 lbs to lose to get to a weight I don't even remember. I have tried every diet out there, done WW, Nutri System....and every other fad diet and it is time for the Yo-Yo to stop spinning and this time I am changing my life for good. Right now I believe I will just stick to Induction levels until I can get much closer to my goal, like within about 10% of it and then I will start OWL to lose the rest.

Keep at it everyone.....You are all such an inspiration!!

Hi all! I am on day 236 (34 weeks) of Induction week 1ish (I have 6 carbs a day). I am doing Atkins ’72 my way. I have never been successful in staying with this WOE in the past if I up my carbs. To date I have lost 115 lbs and hope to lose just 5 more. But my biggest problem in the past was adding more carbs -- I haven’t decided if I will do that. I will increase my kcals. Right now I am up to 1200 kcals daily.

Thank you Mrssillymom! It's been an interesting journey so far and I have been lucky that I haven't been tempted to stray away from this WOE except for Thanksgiving and then I went back to this WOE with a gusto since I had given myself permission to stray. I gained 4 pounds and felt like I had been drinking all night long -- funny how carbs affect me. How stupid was that? Took me a week to lose those extra 4 pounds... anyhow...I haven't gone out to eat (I usually eat before I go or go and then eat when I get home that way I KNOW exactly how the food is prepared and what's in it). I just don't trust people with my food, is that crazy?

36lbs down!

I am new to this blogging thing so please forgive me if I jump around a bit. I am 31 years old and I am 5'5". My healthy weight range is 118-150.

I tried Atkins in 2005 after reading the book and I couldn't do it..I gave up after about a week. At that time I think I weighed like 180. For all the years after that I tried a million different things to lose weight. After having my 5th baby in October 2012 I weighed 240lbs..I lost some weight mostly from breastfeeding and staying away from sweets. By October of 2013 I weighed 200lbs. I started doing low calorie in March 2014 at this time I was down to 187lbs, I allotted myself 1000 calories a day and I bought an elliptical machine and I was doing 35 minutes a day 6 days a week. I lost a whopping 8lbs in a month..that's probably a healthy weight loss but at the time I didn't feel like it was enough for how much I was doing.

My sister starting doing Atkins around the same time I was doing low calorie and she had lost 15lbs in a few weeks so of course I wanted to jump on that band wagon! I told her I couldn't do it because I had tried it before. She told me how there were meals, shakes and bars now. So I decided I would try it.

I started Atkins in April and I weighed 179lbs. I bought all the frozen meals and bars and shakes. I loved it! I only lost about 7lbs in the first 2 weeks or so but I stuck with it. I was still working out but less days a week, I think I was doing 3-4 days a week. I hit a few stalls the first 2 months so I was reading everything I could about Atkins, I figured out that I was eating too much of the Atkins products. So I looked for recipes and just started figuring out real meals to cook. I stopped working out about 6 weeks into Atkins.

I don't follow induction to the T, I eat lots of almonds everyday. I eat peas, possessed meats, coffee and soda. I eat low carb tortillas and low carb bread. I add fresh garlic to most meals. But I also weigh myself everyday so I can see if I have screwed up the day before. I try to expand what I can eat so I don't get bored and want to cheat. I know that what I'm doing moght not work for everyone but maybe it will work for someone and maybe it will expand their food choices so they can stick with it like I did!

Today I weigh 150lbs which was my initial goal !! But I am shooting for the low side of my healthy range so if I screw up I have a little wiggle room and it won't be so devastating. Atkins is definitely something I can do lifelong. Especially when I get to the last stage and have a wide variety of foods to choose from. I got a few of my employess to do Atkins too! It was especially nice when I wore a bathing suit last weekend and didn't feel embarrassed! It's not much but I hope my story helps someone, I love reading this blog and it really helps me to see that people are going through the same things I am and get tips from one another!
Thanks Dr Adkins!!

Hi All
9.5 months on Atkins '72 Induction version. Still on Induction and have lost almost 70 lbs. from 238 at 5'4". My mentor in this journey has been Mthergoos for the most part. I followed all her advice and even challenged myself to keep up with her but she smoked right by me!

Pretty much the same intake now as it was then but have maybe a couple more cups of decaf coffee on the weekend.

10 months, 3 days and down 172lbs.

I don't count calories but I'm guessing they're around 12-1400. I try hard to keep my carbs under 10 per day. Most come from Splenda in my coffee unfortunately.
I don't eat any veggies, not even lettuce cause I found Ranch seemed to slow my losses down.
While I'm still in Induction, I concentrate on my carbs and try to keep my fat high and protein moderate. Eggs, meats, fats... that's about it.

eraser: I have no idea what your weight is??? The more your starting weight then the higher the calories will be even just to sustain yourself. Like I said, I don't really count cals so maybe mine are more? I don't know. I'm just guesstimating they're around that number. Right now I just try to make sure I eat enough that I'm not hungry and concentrate on getting enough fat as well as the protein and only watch my carbs. Calories will be something to really watch down the road and of course they count to an extent right now but as long as you're not OVER eating then don't fuss about them too much!
