Ok I'm on track to this woe.!! This morning I had some coffee with creamer, just a bit ugh! Tomorrow i'm hitting the store for the HWC so I don't cheat and the creamer is in the trash. I'm trying to avoid coffee all together but giving me a treat on the weekends with my k-cups. LOL. So this means no more carbs for the day. I think I was between 20-30 yesterday. Going less and less as I get more organized.

I weigh in at Curves with shoes each day i work out. That's the most reliable scale, however, at home it's weighing me almost the same.

1/27: 234
1/29:231.8
1/30: 230.6 (i saw at home 229.5 so it's just around the corner.)

b: 2 eggs, 1 brat
L: hamburger patty with cheese and green salad
D: chicken something. LOL.

The best part is that I haven't been hungry for snacks. Maybe a bite of an atkins bar here and there. I'm hitting the store tomorrow and ideas would be great to get that perfect protein/fat ratio. I know I need to pick up some bacon. Please send some of what you are eating this way....especially if you are losing

Liz, I believe eggs are the perfect balance of fat and protein. I eat them any way I can. I have egg salad almost every day for lunch.

Super Bowl snacks

January has been a tough month for me, as well as others, as I can see on this blog.
Keep on keeping on. We cannot give up!

Any ideas for Super Bowl party snacks besides chicken wings?

What will everyone else be eating to stay on plan?

Skinny, a friend of my daughter's just asked for some low carb super bowl snacks. These are the recipes I gave her ~

Game Day Crunchers

24 pepperoni slices
1 cup Italian blend cheese shreds

In a food processor, add the pepperoni and cheese. Process on pulse until the pepperoni is finely chopped and mixed in well with the cheese. Drop mixture by teaspoons onto parchment. Choose your cooking method.

Oven - Place parchment on a cookie sheet and bake 5 -6 minutes at 400 degrees. Remove from oven and let cool.

Cheese Sticks~

Use the Mozarella String Cheese Sticks and cut them in half. Have one bowl with a couple of eggs in it, and one bowl of parmesan cheese. Dip each piece into the egg, and then into the cheese. Then do it again. Press the coating onto the cheese stick to be sure it's got a good full coating. Put them into the freezer for at least an hour, a couple of hours is even better. When you're ready to make them, use a small frying pan, and heat up 1-2 inches of olive oil in it. You want the oil fairly deep and very hot. Then fry them up. Brown them on one side, and then turn them over. You can tell when they are done because the cheese will just start to run out of them. Just barely. You don't want to let the cheese all run out of them. So so good!!!!

Dip ~

Take 2 packages of cream cheese, and mix in some chopped up dried beef and chopped up green onions. Mix them up really well, form into a ball, and put in the refrig to chill. Makes an awesome dip for celery, other veggies, or cheese crackers that you make yourself.

Stuffed Jalepenos ~ Slice your jalepenos in half and scrape out all of the seeds. Stuff them with a mixture of cream cheese and browned, ground sausage. Put them on a baking sheet, sprinkle a little grated cheddar cheese over the top, and bake them at 350 for about 20 minutes or so.

Skinny, you're so right! I don't have any idea why January has been such a tough month. I haven't done anything differently, but have had my worst losses this month that I've had since I started. I don't know what it is about January.........

Haha. That was a ONE time experiment and it was actually only about 45 mins but it killed me. Sometimes I'll have breakfast on the weekend then go for an afternoon nap and get up to less weight than at 6 when I got up. That's what I find very strange!!! I'm no physics major but that doesn't even seem feasible.

Good losses there ARB and GYP. Very happy for you and of course happy for all of you who enjoyed a loss.... ANY loss!!

I was good today! I made it through our office party with pizza, ribs, sandwiches, cakes, cookies, etc. I had a small salad with the toppings from 2 slices of supreme pizza. I told myself that I could have whatever I wanted and I think that helped. I didn't feel deprived. I ate what I wanted to eat. Only thing that really tempted me was the oatmeal raisin cookies! Thankfully I didn't slip!

Way to go Julie!!! I'm really proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself!! Isn't it funny how so much of this is a mental game we play with ourselves? On 2 different occasions I've told myself that I was going to have a "cheat" and go ahead and indulge in something off plan. On both occasions, when I've actually gotten to the situation, I decided it just wasn't worth it. I didn't feel at all deprived. But I think that if I had not told myself ahead of time that it was okay to go off plan, I would have felt deprived.

Thanks!! Yes, totally agree! I think if I had told myself I couldn't eat anything off plan I would have eaten everything! I am so happy and feel so good that I stayed on track. This was a lunch that I'd planned on cheating for as it was planned a few weeks ago. I'm much stronger today then I was then!

Now I just have to survive poker tomorrow night and Super Bowl Sunday!

Yeah, January sucked big time for a lot of us! As well as poor losses, it's our most bitterly cold month of the year. Are your antibiotics not kicking in?? Sorry to hear you're still suffering so much. Poor baby. I guess there's no avoiding that sodium with a good soup. I don't worry about much when I'm trying to heal myself. Hope you can get a good rest. Take care my dear.

Not sure I understand the process for this post but since I am less than a week in so I have no goals other then not get knocked out of Ketosis. I am surprised that so many of you do daily weigh ins. I personally would go mad but what works for one works is what one should do. My January goal is for MtherGoos to see this. Your signature is probably one of the most prolific ones I have seen ever! I like how your goals were for actual things in life and you did them. Sure everyone wants to be skinny etc but WHY do we want to me skinny? Me? want to be more active this summer, do a half or full marathon either would be a first. Be able to wear more fashionable clothes and not look odd in them. Anyways kudos to MtherGoos. O WAIT MtherGoos when you say you have egg salad every lunch could you be more specific. You scooping that out with a spoon or what??

James

Good losses for the month, Arb.
Wow, Shelly.. nice drop there. Your poor body has been thru a lot this month with your WOE, your detox from cigarettes, your illness/s. With everything you've been thru you still managed a loss. Happy for ya, girl!!

The weighing every day is more of an accountability issue. Yes, it's mind numbing some days but it helps some people, including me stay on track on a daily basis. If you can mentally handle the ups and downs then it works for some. If I had a gain and then had to wait an entire week to see if I did better, that would make me even crazier plus I'd be bummed for a whole week rather than just a day. Even this WOE works better for some than others so it is what it is. The bonus is we get to connect with each other on a daily basis as well and that's a good thing.

Hi Bonny-Jean, I am praying that things get better with you and your son and his gf. The scale is definitely working in your favor.

Gypsy...those numbers are looking good...you are very close to your goal, good job.

Skinny, I am making some bacon wrapped burgers for the superbowl...made them last year and they were a HUGE hit!

WTG Arb!

Shelly & Pcaltman...hope you guys feel better, kudos for hanging in there despite the obstacles!

Have a great day all!

James
Thanks James!! I really appreciate the compliments! I also am hoping to run a half marathon this year. I haven't started training yet, I'm hoping to wait until I'm just about to goal before I start, but I'd like to run the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in Vegas with my daughter in November this year. I would LOVE to be able to do that.

My egg salad is just 2 hard boiled eggs mashed up in a bowl with a couple of tablespoons of mayo and some mustard. That's it. Right now, I have that for lunch just about every day.

I'm glad you joined us! You definitely don't have to weigh every day, not all of us do. We just like to connect and motivate each other every day, whether we've weighed that day or not. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

I did get one more loss for January today. I'm at 176.6. That puts me right at 10 pounds away from no longer being obese! I still can't wrap my head around that. From being morbidly obese less than a year ago and almost no longer obese. Crazy!!

Having said that, I only lost 7.2 pounds for January. That's definitely my worst month for losses. I usually average 8-10 pounds per month. I'm hoping February will be better!

Bonny, you had pretty good numbers this month! I know you said you were only losing about a pound per week, but you lost almost 7 pounds this month! WTG!!!!

Shelly, hope you're feeling better soon!!!

Hope everyone has a really great day!!!

It's a little warmer and the sun is out for just a bit. Can't believe it. It sort of feels like spring Just put away all my snowflakes stuff and put up Valentine's Day. I know 1 day early but am tired of looking at cold stuff.

Kway - here is one. I haven't tried it yet but I want too.

Paleo Chicken Tortilla Soup Recipe:
Don't add carrots for induction
If Atkin's add cheese, sour cream or what ever toppings work for induction.

Author: Linda Wagner

Cuisine: Mexican
Serves: 6

Ingredients
•2 large chicken breasts, skin removed and cut into ½ inch strips
•1 28oz can of diced tomatoes
•32 ounces organic chicken broth
•1 sweet onion, diced
•2 jalepenos, de-seeded and diced
•2 cups of shredded carrots
•2 cups chopped celery
•1 bunch of cilantro chopped fine
•4 cloves of garlic, minced – I always use one of these
•2 Tbs tomato paste
•1 tsp chili powder
•1 tsp cumin
•sea salt & fresh cracked pepper to taste
•olive oil
•1-2 cups water

Instructions
1.In a crockpot or large dutch oven over med-high heat, place a dash of olive oil and about ¼ cup chicken broth. Add onions, garlic, jalapeno, sea salt and pepper and cook until soft, adding more broth as needed.
2.Then add all of your remaining ingredients and enough water to fill to the top of your pot. Cover and let cook on low for about 2 hrs, adjusting salt & pepper as needed.
3.Once the chicken is fully cooked, you should be able to shred it very easily. I simply used the back of a wooden spoon and pressed the cooked chicken against the side of the pot. You could also use a fork or tongs to break the chicken apart and into shreds.
4.Top with avocado slices and fresh cilantro. Enjoy!
5.This is an easy one-pot meal that’s loaded with veggies, low in fat, and full of flavor! You don’t need to add cheese or tortilla strips the soup is full of flavor on it’s own!

Hi everyone!
Well this month went by very quickly, and I'm about the same as I was at the beginning of the month. So - I'm OK with it! My clothes fit great! I'm a bit (a lot) flabby, and it would be great to be able to do something about it, but.... i think my skin is way too old.
Anyway, here's to a GREAT FEBRUARY, everyone!!!

DQ, you're so tiny! I'm sure there's nowhere near as much flab as you think there is! From the pictures you've posted, I think you look AMAZING!

Very close to goal. Down almost 10 pounds for the month. I feel kind of odd counting it as the end weight for the challenge since when I get up and weigh myself on the morning of the last day since really there's a whole day left to lose! I am now only 6 pounds up from my lowest weight doing LC and that makes me happy. A friend of mine put up a 30 day squat challenge on facebook yesterday, so I'm doing that with her. I am on day 2 of it. And I'm ready to DIE! I usually do 50 squats every other day, but yowzer, 2 days in a row! OOOWWWWWW

Those snack ideas sound super yummy, MthrGoose!

Super stoked about February especially since so many have been struggling like crazy in January! I am trying to decide on a good goal for February as it is a shorter month...
