Shelly and bulldogmom Good drops!

makemeslim, Part of my problem with gaining weight beside meds was the fact I would eat only at dinner and eat a lot of high carb, starchy foods like potatoes or pasta, or white rice. But because I was used to only eating once a day, I had very little appetite. So when I researched low carbs diet I was also looking at ones I could lose on without eating a lot.

I do use Juddd with Atkins but I have modified both to fit my eating habits. My first month on plan I did one day 72 Induction, one day water fast, rotating them. Because I had no appetite when I started, water fasts were very easy for me. Lost Excellent doing the fast rotation.

2nd month until this month I would do one day 72 Induction, one day under 500 cals using NANY induction foods but no more than 10 carbs, rotating them. Lost fairly well doing the 500 rotation and I started to get a better appetite.

This month I have been changing things up to start figuring out a maintenance plan because I just don't have one. So I have been doing at least 1 up day a week with 1200+ cals but staying around 10 net carbs, and one day a week under 500 cals using NANY induction foods, or fat fasts, or water fast, the rest of the week just keeping it under 10 carbs usually between 700-900 cals. This month I have been bouncing all over the place although I have still managed to lose 4lbs so far. It has really been crazy, but I am trying out new foods and working on a maintenance plan so I expected a slower, abnormal weight loss this month.
Sounds like you have done extremely well! I keep thinking about maintenance too. For health reasons, I'm really interested in the raw food diet. I saw this footage recently on a 71 year old American lady who had followed the plan for about 30 years. She looked so amazing! Not a day older than 35!! Whatever I do, I'll have to find a way to keep it low carb or lowish carb. Not sure I could do a 100% raw diet but I might be able to do 80% and maybe limit myself to meat twice a week. Honestly guys this lady looks amazing! Her name is Annette Larkins, you have probably heard of her but if not google raw food diet with her name, you'll be amazed!

Congrats Shelly!! Nice whoosh!!

Congrats Arb! Babies are so fun!

I have food on the brain today! Not sure why some days are easier than others. I certainly think about food a lot less on days where I see weight loss. Today I am having bad carb cravings. I'm itching like crazy due to my hives (even though I've been taking Benadryl twice a day for a few days). The itching is frustrating and I think the carby food thoughts are for comfort. Weird thing though, it's a bowl of Raisin Bran I really want (instead of the normal sweet craving for things like donuts and cookies). Even funnier, when I'm not on plan I rarely eat cereal so not sure why I want it so bad right now. Today I will make another batch of bacon fried cabbage as it's always ine of my favorites. I need to go eat something filling now to get these evil carb thoughts out of my head! Sometimes just coming here sets me straight too and now that I've posted that I'm having carb cravings I will be less likely to indulge! Thanks for listening!

Good Morning everyone! Well back down to the 178.4 this morning, so at least I'm on the low end of my bounces again. Today, I'm planning to do somewhat of a fat fast during the day, and just have my normal steak for dinner. I know it's not an actual fat fast, because I will be having protein with dinner, but during the day, I'll stick to mostly fats and little to no protein. Hopefully I'll do this today and tomorrow and see if I can get things moving down again.

Shelly, so glad you had such a great day and a good Whoosh!!! Way to start the weekend!

Bonny, so glad you're okay, but so sorry about your car. You think they're going to total it and just give you the money for it?

Julie, stay strong! Don't give in to the cravings! I find I've been hungrier the last few days too for some weird reason. Like actual stomach growling hungry. Odd. And isn't it funny how we crave things when we're on plan that we would never normally eat? My BF has never been a sweet eater. He doesn't really even like sweets, but since being Low Carb, he craves sweets. I make him a low carb, sugar free cheesecake almost every week and he'll have a piece almost every night for dessert.

Trini, thinking about you and hoping you're feeling better.

I hope everyone is having a really great day!

Shelly, chicken thighs are one of my favorites! I always feel like I overeat when I make them! I just coat them in olive oil and put some seasoning salt on them and bake them until the skin is super crispy! Of course, I pretty much just eat the skin off of them, and feed the rest of the meat to the dogs.

Mthrgoos the chicken skin is the Bestest part! These turned out really good. I think they'd have been better if I had just used season salt or cavanders seasoning.

Shelly, I talked to the butcher at our grocery store to try and buy just the skin, but they don't have them. I was so bummed! LOL I could eat that every day.

Yea the skin is perfect. I would purposely buy skinned chicken breast and save the skin for some delicious crispies later. Works great for "chip" like feel!

howdy everyone!
a busy day for me - with three people dead at a mall in suburban maryland. it may have been a domestic incident.
Hope everyone is doing fine today! I made a cheesecake earlier in the week and got pretty sick afterwards-- maybe it was the total shock to my system --or being extremely dehydrated, or both. Needless to say, no more LC cheesecake for me!

What a day! My hives continued to get worse today and the Benadryl just wasn't working so I went to an urgent care clinic and they gave me a shot of steroids. Feel so much better now. I was so itchy it felt like bugs crawling all over my body. They also gave me prednisone and an anti-itch med for next few days. So weird though because the hives have been going on a few days and I haven't really introduced anything new. I am hoping the meds don't cause much water retention. I've broken out in hives in the past but usually just after exposure to mold or cat hair and never has it lasted this long. The one positive is that all that itching took my mind off the bowl of raisin bran that I thought I couldn't live without! Not even hungry now! Thanks for the encouragement mthergoos!!

DQ, scary incident at the mall!! My older son is at the Dulles mall today and when I first heard in the news about a local mall shooting my heart stopped. Scary world we live in, especially when it hits so close to home!

Congrats trismama!! You're doing great!!

Makesmeslim, that sounds yummy!! I LOVE lamb!! What is Harissa paste?

Out with the boys finding tupperware again this morning. Hit the gym for some weights. Tomorrow will be pool time.
Pants felt a bit looser on Friday but am not seeing marked results in the mirror yet. Oh well, another 7 months to goal weight.

Thanks Shelly! Feeling much better and praying the hives don't come right back! Went to pick up my son at the mall and stopped at McD's on the way home since I spent the afternoon at the clinic and didn't cook dinner. I splurged and got a double QPC with no bun. It was yummy! Forgot how good those are.

Am I wrong in thinking the best time to weight is first thing in the morning??? Or do you wait an hour???
After doing some shopping, having brunch, having a nap
.... I got up .6 lighter on the scale??? How is that possible????

Julie hope everything sorts itself out for ya soon... Hives sound awful.

Bonny glad to hear you are ok.

Hoping some of today's weight is cuz I was out of my pills. A girl can hope anyway. Will see tomorrow. Went and treated myself. I got a new pair of leopard print wedgie tennis shoes in suede, some new hair stuff, some new jewel-tone shirts and some fun socks... all bright colors and crazy patterns. Way to go Laura! You deserve to treat yourself!

I find that trying to take a higher fat, very low protein day just doesn't work well for me. I find that I'm so much hungrier when I'm having less protein. Even if my calories are about the same. I spend all day thinking about food and feeling like I can't get enough to eat. I guess I need to just stick to what has been working and wait this out.

WAKEY, WAKEY... EGGS & BACEY~

Morning All:
Been up since 3:45. I think I'm suffering a little "OCD" from this accident. Been going over the scenario in my head since Friday. Looking for another vehicle cause I fear my insurance is gonna write of my "baby."
I need a pick up or convertible as I'm always dragging something around, be it trees, gardening stuff or exercise equipment. I hauled sod in it last spring. LOL.

Our horrendous street cleaning is the culprit. 7' high snowbanks you can't see around, a foot of snow on the streets, deep frozen ruts. We had a record 20k claims in Dec and another 15K so far this January!!!! Usually if you have an accident Friday then you can go to the claims center on Sat. This time I have to wait till Feb 20th!! OMG!!!

Sorry, I'm obsessing!!
Anyway, the scale is back to where it was 4 days ago.
Such a long, painful process this is!! I hope you all have a better day.

Nice drop Bonny!

Nice whoosh Lori!

Nice group Laura! Good job sticking with it and treating yourself! I may have to try that!

Mthergoos, I know what you mean! As hard as it is, sometimes we have to just stick with what works for us and be patient. Hard though!!

I feel better today. Took my meds last night and no hives today. Can still see spots where they were but not itchy or inflamed. They must have been causing some water retention give my weight today. My food has been pretty consistent.

I've been adding a little more MCT every day (instead of putting it in my coffee I'm just taking it from the spoon like medicine). I'm back up to 1 tbsp with no ill effect.

I've been doing more reading on the 5:2 plan and think I may try a down day here and there just to see if I can do it. I figured I could have 2 coffees each with 1 tbsp HWC (100 calories each) and then 2 Atkins shakes (at 160 calories each). Last year I often used the shakes as dinner replacements and they are filling given high protein level. That would put me at 520 calories (seems close enough to the 500 target). We'll see. Need to get more in the zone first.

T'was del-lish! The paste I use has red chili, garlic and rose petals amongst other ingredients. It has a smoked, flowery kind of taste, I think it's the rose petals that do it for me. It make a nice change when looking for something different. It's great on fish too!

Congratulations to all the losers. I was down by 3lb yesterday. Not exactly what I had hoped but I'm glad to be moving in the right direction so I'll take it.

Arb, Congrats on the good news!

Shelly, Nice drop! You are an example of patience and diligence. I need to take note.

Mthergoose, Great job! Fingers crossed that scale gets moving again!

Trismama, Congrats on being halfway to goal!

Julie, the prednisone might make you see a gain in water weight but it would be worth it to feel better. Hopefully you can figure out whats causing the reaction! Congrats on the loss! I'm trying to get myself into the right mindset to do the 5:2 plan also. I'll probably try my first day tomorrow and the second day on Thursday.

DairyQueen, Glad to see you around! Its been a crazy week for you guys up there with the snow and the shooting. Hopefully this week will be a lot less exciting.

Bonny-Jean, I weigh in the morning before eating.

Lori, What a whoosh! Congrats!

Laura, Great job!

makemeslim, 3 lbs gone is awesome!
