Shelly – good luck on both the job. I would enjoy a job like that. I like being the cook with our WOE. We are then in control of so many things. Nice drop today!

MJ – I really want to take the daily supplements, but I’m horrible at remembering them daily. Any tips? I’m going to try putting the bone broth in the oven overnight. That sounds wonderful. I just stewed min on the stove for 3-5 hours.

Makemeslim – Yes, it is wonderful that we are all so different, otherwise, this world would be really boring

Bonny – Isn’t there sometimes such a thing as too much information. I’m with you, now I want to take all three, but not separately I ws laughing this morning, because it was warmer by about 10 degrees where my husband is in Ontario than where I am in Ohio. Crazy!

Laura – It takes some searching, but you can find cutie bras in the larger sizes. I had some, but they aren’t that comfortable

PC – I’m with you on the Spring wishes!

NOTE: Something I remember about my bone broth. I had rubbed the chicken I baked with butter and Italian dressing as well as stuffed it with onions and celery. As mentioned before we ate the baked meat, but there was some skin uneaten. The flavors from the rub and stuffing did carry over to the broth, because there was some skin that was in the broth.

Jan 21 - 177.4 (C25K w3d2 done) meat and egg and more water!
Jan 22 – 176.0 meat and egg and daily water goal met!
Jan 23 – 175.4 (c25k scheduled for tonight)
Jan 24 – 176.4

I didn’t run last night like I was supposed too. I am determined to do that today right after work, before I go out to steak with friends. I really hope I’m able to get on an every other day pattern, but I just keep doing every third day. Grrr.

Well, I am up a pound, but it was worth it and I didn’t go off plan. I made a broccoli zucchini cheesy casserole last night to die for! I have posted the recipe on my blog. I knew I would probably be up today, just from the added carbs, because I have been doing meat and egg fast. I’m okay with that because it was a low carb veggie side and I know it will go back down if I just keep on keeping on.

Try the dish, it was delish!
For sure!

I've got to come up with a menu since its really easy to hit 500 cals. But I'll incorporate it into what I'm already doing. Maintenance does seem difficult even though I feel like I've maintained my current weight for about 2 months and can't budge that for anything!

I'm a little worried about maintenance myself, although, at this rate, I may never hit it. My plan for maintenance is to just add in more veggies and keep the rest the same. I know we're all so different that it's hard to say what will work, but I'm really hoping this works for me.

Ha, yes, it's typical isn't it! Easier to maintain when not at a weight we want, lol. Was just about to ask if you were following induction but then realised this is an induction thread so I guess you are. I've done intermittent fasting whilst low carbing and it worked a treat. I found it tough to begin with but once I got into it, it was quite enjoyable. Hope you see a loss soon. x

Very true! I'm determined to find the way that works best for me. I really did not have a proper plan in place and that is where it went wrong for me. I need a plan that gives me freedom for a reasonable percentage of the time. I've never had a sweet tooth but it maybe that I need the freedom of eating a high carb meal here and there. I have vowed that once I reach goal, I will never regain the weight, ever! I just don't want to go through this again.

Hello and happy Friday! Long day at work then crappy DC traffic getting home. Always worse on Fridays. I'm still doing well and staying on plan. Was hard at work today given all the temptations (Krispy Kremes) but I managed to get through by splurging on a small Atkins candy bar in the afternoon. They usually don't stall me when used in moderation.

Laura, sending hugs! I've been struggling too the last few months and ended up gaining back 25 of the 50 lbs I had lost. It sucks!! For me it was mainly the mental struggle with food that I lost. I'm glad you're back at it before too much damage was done! Hang in there lady!

Good luck Shelly with the jobs!

On the maintenance discussion, it is tough! I dabbled at maintenance last fall and was trying to stay on plan during the week and letting myself take the weekends off plan. However, the weekends kept getting longer! :-) I'll have to look into that 5:2 plan and see if it's something I could do.

Hugs to bulldogmom, mthergoos, Lori, DQ, pcaltman, missy and everyone else!

My foods today:
B: coffee with HWC and SF DaVinci, 1 HB egg
S: coffee with HWC and SF DaVinci, 100 calorie snack pack of almonds
L: bacon fried cabbage
S: Atkins candy bar
D: chicken/bacon Tex Mex soup
Lots of water!

Hope everyone has a great night!

1/21: 191.6
1/22: 190.0
1/23: 189.0
1/24: 190.4 Was perfectly on plan yesterday so doesn't make sense, but I'm also at the point where I have to add back the magnesium for regularity! Hopefully lighter tomorrow as I took magnesium and 1/2 tbsp MCT oil this morning and both are fairly fast acting!

Thanks! I somewhat follow induction. I eat under the 20 carbs allowed. I only eat fats and proteins at every meal and just 1/2 cup to a full cup of a veggie at lunch if I'm in the mood. I just started back doing my running/walking routine. Hopefully that's all that I need to get the scale moving again.

Missy Dee, being up 0.4 lbs after adding new foods isn't bad at all! Once your body gets used to the new foods, it'll shed that extra water weight.

Julie, I'm sure you'll get your whoosh soon. Glad the magnesium is working for you!

For dinner tonight I took a risk of having one of those Great Low Carb buns. I bought them in November thinking I would have them at Thanksgiving and never tried them. They only last 8 wks in the freezer so I have to eat them or throw them out. I'll let you know what happens with the scale tomorrow. I haven't had any extra carbs aside from whats in eggs so we shall see what these things do to me.

Wow, so many posts in a couple days!

Mothergoos, I watched a video on mercola on how to make a bone broth, he took a whole chicken, basically poached it and used the meat for eating, then cooked the carcas for 24hrs or longer. He went into a lot of detail about the steps. Might be worth watching. He also recommends it for pets, especially ones who are sick or recovering. I haven't done it myself yet but do plan to.

Bonny, salt deficiency can also cause the cramps and you may need more than you are adding - do you use himalayan salt? That or unprocessed sea salt is better than any rock or processed salt. To get the amounts of magnesium, potassium, calcium and zinc rigt, best advice would be to get a copy of the Atkins book called Natural Remedies or something like that. He goes into great detail about each vitamin/mineral, what its for and dosages. I found it such a great book. I got mine off Amazon, I think it dates from the 80s.

Makemeslim, I know what you mean about the 5:2 being all the rage here, and now Mosely released his book on intermittent training. But there is also another option which mercola talks about - restricting food intake to 4-6hrs of the day, thereby putting you in a fasting state the rest. I try to do this as much as possible, having breakfast/lunch around 12 and having dinner no later than 5.30.

Lorias, I agree about the shapewear, Maidenform is by far the best and spanx is okay! Don't know if you have the whole Control It range, but they also make t-shirts as well as camis or the waist thingy. I try not to call it compression wear as that is a sports thing for muscle repair (like the brand Skins).

I got a few minutes to spare so I wanted to come here...

Shelly!!! You dropped!! Whoot Whoot!

Arb good drop for you too!

Laura, Bonny, Bulldogmom, mthrgoos, DQ, Lorias, Julie- hoping the whoosh fairy visits you soon. WOW I think we all need a visit from her. This month seems to be the hardest one yet for losses! Looking through everyone's charting, we have all been bouncing all over this month.

makemeslim, IFing has been a part of my life forever. I could not do without it.

Lorias, I take pills throughout the day, but I always just make it a habit to take the magnesium when I get up with my first cup of coffee. I think making it a routine with something you normally do helps to remember.

Cdn and Lorias, is that a REAL test they actually do with the texting? Here, it is against the law to text and drive. I couldn't see them doing a driver's test for it.

Maintenance is the reason I am playing around with new food items. I still stay most days under 10 net for carbs, max I have been on plan was 12 net. I just substitute new foods for ones I have been eating. I have gotten pretty tired on occasion of cauliflower, broccolli, summer squash, and onions. So it has been nice trying out a few new things. It is amazing to me that although I keep the carbs per day about the same, that I still can gain with something new though. But I don't want to get at or near goal weight and not know what I can or can not eat or go through the bouncing around from trying new foods then. So here I am trying a little bit of something new each week.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. We are all doing GREAT just sticking with it this month! Hopefully February will bring in better results for us all.

Shell: Sounds like you had a nice day. I'm happy to hear good news for you. Way to stay on plan. I know how frustrating this can be sometimes so kuddos to you for hanging in there.

I on the other hand, did not have a good day. On my way to pick up my DS from College, as we go out together every Friday night for supper, and didn't this person pull out from a side street giving me 10' to stop in snow!!!
Well, I stopped all right but only after taking off his driver's side front wheel. Luckily my car was still driveable. Would you believe the exact same thing happened to me last Jan. 24/13!!! How freaky is that!!! Both these accidents are 100% the other driver's fault but I fear our Gov't Insurance won't cover my car this time!!! I'm so screwed!!

I did that exact thing... I would miss breakfast and then allow myself a 4 hour eating window between 2 and 6. There use to be a thread dedicated to intermittent fasting. Not sure if it was here or the other LC site I sometimes visit? I did not know Mosely had a new book out.

Good morning! Woke up a bit frustrated. I know we can't expect to lose every day, but my results even in the recent past were much better the first week back on plan. I typically lose a lot the first week (typically 7-9 lbs) then start slowing down the second week. However, this week I've broken out in really bad hives multiple times (including yesterday) so I'm not sure what the heck is going on. I'm a creature of habit and haven't changed my soap, laundry soap, etc. I pray I'm not developing a food allergy! I wonder too if all the hives are causing water retention. I've been taking Benadryl multiple times a day too for the past few days. We'll see what happens!

1/20: 194.6
1/21: 191.6
1/22: 190.0
1/23: 189.0
1/24: 190.4
1/25: 190.4 not sure if this is due to my hives or the Atkins bar yesterday.

Last night I was doing some reading on IF, JUDDD and the 5:2 plans. I'm intrigued by them and wonder if those would work for me combined with LC. I know if I go off plan I won't be able to control myself on the up days. However, the thought of only having a few shakes on a down day doesn't scare me too much. There are certainly days that I just don't feel like eating much when in ketosis. I will wait until I'm on plan longer to even contemplate changing things up. Would love to hear more from others who have tried this! Missy, are you still mixing JUDDD and LC? Would love to hear how you're doing it.

Hope everyone has a great day! Hugs and happy thoughts!

Well I still was able to lose in spite of eating the Great Low Carb bun. Interesting because those things have wheat gluten. I don't know that I'd eat one every day but I least if I did indulge, it probably wouldn't hurt me.

Bonny, so glad you're ok!! Accident sounds scary! Hope your insurance covers it!

Shelly, great job resisting the cheesecake!! I think Atkins bars are a great choice in those circumstances!

Tiggy, I always like hearing your input on things. I might try my first 5:2 day on Monday.

Bonny-Jean, Sorry about your car but I'm glad you are okay. Sending prayers insurance will pay for it. And no more driving on Jan 24th of any year.

Missy Dee, at some point we have to introduce new foods so that we don't get bored. I think if we give it time, our bodies will adjust. I just know that at this point in my journey, I panic when I see that gain.

Laura, Hang in there! I'm glad you're still posting.

DairyQueen, its always good to see you drop by too! I know you're busy but I hope things are still going well.

Julie, Sorry about the hives. I've often wondered how many eggs a person can eat before an allergy. Fingers crossed that I never reach that threshold. I've had to take Benadryl this week also and I haven't really seen any losses either. Maybe its effecting us both?

Kemp, if you're out there, we're thinking about you. Don't give up because you've come such a long way. Life throws poo at us sometimes but its our chance to see what we're made of. You got this!

Nice drop bulldogmom! I hadn't thought of eggs as being the culprit of my hives. Funny though, now that you mention it, that would kinda make sense. It is extremely rare for me to eat eggs when I'm not on plan. I'm not a big fan and I always find that when I eat them too much I get sick of them very fast. I've certainly been eating them a lot more than normal this week. Will cut them out a few days and see if that helps.

Glad the bread didn't stall you! I love the everything bagels from that company. Fantastic toasted with some cream cheese.

Hey Julie: Thanks but I'm pretty sure our Gov't insurance will not cover this. The exact same thing happened almost to the day last year and it cost almost 7K to fix so I can't see them doing another 3K now considering the car's value is only about 8K. I'm sure they're gonna write it off and I don't have the money to buy another. So sad cause I love my little convertible.

If that wasn't enough, I'm up a pound since the other day. Could be the escargo yesterday. Just found out it has 13 carbs!! Yikes!! Where??? It's only seafood, garlic, butter and mushroom caps???? Also had a big bite of a bun and a chocolate bean with Brandy in it so I guess I got what I deserved. My own fault. I suppose the lack of sleep and stress about the accident haven't helped. Oh well, sometimes life slaps you in the face. Just buck up and muscle thru it, I guess.

I hope you all have a better day. It won't be long and we'll be outta the winter doldrums. Hang in there my little darlings.

Bonny, scary about the car accident. But I am glad you are okay.

Shelly and bulldogmom Good drops!

makemeslim, Part of my problem with gaining weight beside meds was the fact I would eat only at dinner and eat a lot of high carb, starchy foods like potatoes or pasta, or white rice. But because I was used to only eating once a day, I had very little appetite. So when I researched low carbs diet I was also looking at ones I could lose on without eating a lot.

I do use Juddd with Atkins but I have modified both to fit my eating habits. My first month on plan I did one day 72 Induction, one day water fast, rotating them. Because I had no appetite when I started, water fasts were very easy for me. Lost Excellent doing the fast rotation.

2nd month until this month I would do one day 72 Induction, one day under 500 cals using NANY induction foods but no more than 10 carbs, rotating them. Lost fairly well doing the 500 rotation and I started to get a better appetite.

This month I have been changing things up to start figuring out a maintenance plan because I just don't have one. So I have been doing at least 1 up day a week with 1200+ cals but staying around 10 net carbs, and one day a week under 500 cals using NANY induction foods, or fat fasts, or water fast, the rest of the week just keeping it under 10 carbs usually between 700-900 cals. This month I have been bouncing all over the place although I have still managed to lose 4lbs so far. It has really been crazy, but I am trying out new foods and working on a maintenance plan so I expected a slower, abnormal weight loss this month.

arb, WOW what a way for your dil to find out she was pregnant. Congrats on the upcoming baby addition to your family!

Julie, hopefully it is not the eggs giving you hives. But better to know than not and if you don't care much for them, you shouldn't miss them much. I don't know how I could stay on plan without them though. I use eggs for everything - quiches, pizza, breakfast, snacks. I go through I know at least two to three dozen a week.
