That was very interesting but since I go thru WAY too much of that stuff, I'd have to stick with hwc. For people who have very little, I would agree the heavy cream would be better to up their fats, if need be. Thanks for bringing that up Gypsy.

I know when I was still in Indiana I used to make my own butter, bread, noodles etc. When I'd go to the dairy I'd have the choice of 30% or 40% fat. Wish I had that option now... or the time to make everything from scratch all the time again for that matter.

Gypsy, I don't think I have seen just regular heavy cream where I am at either. But the HWC I use has no carbs just pure fat% at 10.5g fat per 2tbs with 100cals.

If your weight loss stalls for a long period of time, then cutting calories might be something you'll want to look into
Thanks Mthergoos, that makes sense. I'll worry about the calories if and when the time comes that I stall. Think I'll track them for a couple of days so that I know how much to alter them by should I need to.

I made it through a full day. I know it's silly, but I'm taking it one day at a time and praying I make it for an extended period. I'm trying not to weigh every day as I quickly get depressed and unmotivated if the scale isn't moving down. I didn't have this issue for most of last year, but now it's more of a struggle for me. Will try to weigh weekly.

Gypsy, I haven't seen the heavy cream, only HWC. I didn't realize they were different. I will be on the look out now for it though!

The DC area is getting hit with a huge storm today. All the schools and the federal government are shut down. I'm thankful I don't have to drive in it today! They are predicting 8-10 inches of snow for my area. For some places, that isn't much, but for here it's a huge deal as we just don't normally get this kind of storm. We may be stuck home tomorrow too. Thankfully I stocked up on LC staples yesterday. I baked a dozen chicken thighs yesterday and boiled a dozen eggs. Today I will make some fried cabbage with bacon. I think I will also have a chicken thigh with Guy's SF BBQ sauce (will be my first time trying it).

Yesterday's food:
B: coffee with 1 tbsp HWC and DaVinci SF syrup, 2 scrambled eggs with 1 tbsp salsa
L: pork chop with 2 tbsp guacamole
S: coffee with 1 tbsp HWC and DaVinci SF syrup
D: baked chicken thigh, HB egg
S: coffee with 1 tbsp HWC, SF DaVinci syrup and 1 tbsp MCT oil

I normally only have one cup of coffee per day. My three cups yesterday probably are the reason I went to bed feeling nauseous with a belly ache. Will try to limit it to 1 today.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all,

At home with all the kiddos again. Snowing already around here so Julie you will get it soon enough. I am a bit west of you. Think I will make a big batch of chicken bacon soup tonight for dinner and side salad. I am trying to stay away from the cream and cream cheese so will sub cauliflower puree in the recipe. Hope it will be good, but darn if cheese isn't yummy.

Did end up weighing myself yesterday and was the same so feel good about that. Didn't weigh today. Want to weigh about every 2-3 days just so I don't see all the flux on the scale.

Don't really know what to do today and feeling very excited about spring. It's funny because we should have about 7-10 inches of snow on the ground and I am thinking warm sun on my face. A girls got to dream right?

Okay, I have confirmed I'm allergic to salad!! I mentioned I haven't had salad at work for over 2 wks and the scale was moving pretty decently. Well, yesterday I had a handful of leafy greens with 2 tbsp of Ranch and my scale went up today. It hasn't gone upwards in 4 wks. Nothing changed except that. I was hoping for a 186 today and got a 188. WTH!! Ugh.

Jan Goal - 175 (This was my Nov and December goal and I made it both times. I hope to never make this my goal again)

Also, DH and I are started C25K again today. my secondary goal is to stay on C25K plan all month.

Jan 1 - 188
Jan 2 - DNW - C25K W1D1
Jan 3 - 183 (losing that water weight from the holiday carbfest)
Jan 13 - 180.4 (TOM)
Jan 14 - 180.8 (TOM) meat and egg fast (C25K W2D2)
Jan 15 - 177.4 meat and egg fast
Jan 16 - 176.6 meat and egg fast (C25K W2D3 - DONE!)
Jan 17 - 175.0 meat and egg fast GOAL!!!
Jan 18 - 176.0 *had a salad tonight*
Jan 19 - 176.6 *had some cabbage and mushrooms tonight* (c25k w3d1 done)
Jan 20 - 177.0 *had some cream cheese muffins*
Jan 21 - 177.4 *had two cream cheese muffins last night*

Also only had 6 hours sleep with a wake up in the middle to take the pup out.

I believe I need to stick to strict meat and egg again and increase my water intake. I have slacked off of that for the last 4 days or so.

Grrrr, frustrating!

Nice drop Arb! Nice results! KUTGW!

So, last night I went to bed with nausea and bad cramps. Now this morning I am having really bad cramps and other yucky tummy issues. Last night after dinner I had put 1 tbsp of MCT oil in my coffee. This morning I did the same. The cramps in both cases came a few hours after the MCT oil. Last year when I was doing great on this WOE I was using CO in my coffee every day and never had a bad reaction to it. I have occasionally used MCT oil in recent months and don't recall this reaction. The timing of the symptoms makes me think the MCT oil is the cause though. Anyone had this reaction to MCT oil? I also have the capsule version and wondering if that would be better? I plan to avoid it for a few days to see if my assumption is right. I much prefer the MCT oil in my coffee over the CO as it is much less oily. Maybe I just need to get used to it again? Or just skip it altogether?

Julie, Taking it day by day is a very good idea. I wish we would get some snow here. We haven't had any real snow since 92' when the blizzard came through.

Good drop arb!

pcalt, do you have a special recipe for the chicken and bacon soup? I have leftover chicken that I was thinking baout making soup with tonite. Chicken and Bacon sounds very delish!

Bonny, maybe it is the ranch and not the salad. Just a thought.

Lorias, cream cheese will stall some and make some gain. That's why it was an add in after induction on 72 Atkins. So maybe just try eating without it for a couple days.

Bulldogmom, So sorry about going back to 189. I know that just sucks, but it will go back down again. I know it will.

Shelly, keep at it. Staying on plan, the weight has to go down.

For me, I think I figured out what my issue has been. With my son here, we have a few more people than normal counting his gf that comes over and my bil's daughter has been here - so I have been intentionally not eating at dinner to make sure everyone has enough to eat. I think my body is just holding on to everything thinking no food is coming. SO my goal this week, is to make sure I eat really good at breakfast and lunch. That's my plan anyway, we'll see how that works and if it helps to get things moving good again.

Julie, I would try a smaller serving of the mct oil and ease into it. When I use it every day, I have no problem, but when I use it only occassionaly to increase my fat on a certain day, it will usually upset my stomach. So maybe try just a teaspoon each day and increase that after your body gets used to it again.

Thanks mthergoos. I was using a tbsp so maybe tomorrow I will try a tsp and see how that goes. Been a miserable morning! Reminds me of the time I ate too many SF gummy bears!!

Thanks missy! Am hoping I get back to the point soon where I'm not constantly thinking of food! It is currently looking like a blizzard outside! Snow coming down heavy!

Pcaltman, I'm also interested in hearing more about your chicken and bacon soup! Sounds perfect today!

Hugs to everyone whose scale isn't being kind! Hang in there!!

Julie, Good job on making it through the day! I always thought the first day was the hardest.

Missy Dee, I love that picture. Too funny! Can you eat some eggs for dinner? You're a great mom to sacrifice for everyone else but you have to take care of you too!

Arb, Nice drop! I'm like you, I want to see some snow!

Bonny-Jean, I see the bounce monster hit you too. No worries, you'll be rocking a bikini come June.

Shelly, lets both go and smash our scales. Mine doesn't want to move either.

Yeah, as if, eh!!

Not sure why that happened?? Been religious to this WOE?? Hard to believe it's the Ranch as there's only 1 carb and 1 sugar per tbsp?? Just one of those things. Meh, no worries!

Great attitude Bonny! Love it!

Thanks bulldogmom! First day is the hardest for me. Today is better. Partly because I'm still nauseous from the MCT oil this morning, but I'll take it!

We now have about 2-3 inches of snow and it's still coming down hard! May get stuck home tomorrow too!

I'm sure I'd be down a little more, but I ate another piece of the sugar-free cheesecake last night. At least it's gone now!

Honestly, get busy for a few days and there are pages!!! I will try and keep up better!

Sorry the Chantix didn't work out - but really hope it got you over the worst part of quitting so you can deal with it better Princessmommy.

Bonny, I'm 40, I gained 100lbs when I hit 14 - all thanks to crappy hormones! Funnily enough, I was always told mine were fine! Not... If you suspect something, try a naturopath who is more likely to investigate things properly instead of relying on inaccurate lab ranges.

Ha ha, I wish I was allergic to green veg! What about skipping the ranch and go for just oil and vinegar to see if that makes a difference?

Someone asked what rocket was? its arugula

Welcome Makemeslim, I know what you mean about the UK labels being easier to read! If you are looking for a good source of organic meats, try Graig Farm in Wales and Westin Gourmet. Both offer free delivery and offer huge ranges of meats including wild boar, rabbit, duck, beef, pheasant, etc. I also found a few places here which sell Rotel and Davinci sugar free syrups.

I also don't count calories - keeping a strict count on the carbs is much more important. I probably eat around 2500-3000 a day based on the high amount of fat - which is around 80% of what I'm intaking. Only caveat is not to eat too much protein that it could be converted into glucose when there is insufficient fat. I think it was Mothergoos who said, eat when hungry - you can never eat too much fat, your body will make sure you don't by making that next bite feel not nice! Best experiment is try eating a whole packet of butter - when your body has had enough, your mouth will start to water and your stomach start feeling naseaus. You can't go beyond that point (shame it doesn't work for donuts...)

Anyway, sorry, fleeting visit as have to run.

SkinnyB I'm sure you look amazing and are already bikini ready for Cancun!

Back later in the week, take care everyone!

Hi all I sure do

The Recipe is from Peace, Love and Low Carb. It's for a crock pot but I just made it on the stove, no biggy. Very good..... Called (Chicken Bacon Crock Pot Chowder)

INGREDIENTS:
4 Cloves Garlic – Minced
1 Shallot – Finely Chopped
1 Leek – Cleaned, Trimmed, and Sliced
2 Ribs Celery – Diced
6 oz. Cremini Mushrooms – Sliced
1 Medium Sweet Onion – Thinly Sliced
4 Tbs. Butter – Divided
2 Cups Chicken Stock – Divided
1 lb. Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
8 oz. Cream Cheese
1 Cup Heavy Cream
1 lb. Bacon – Cooked Crisp, and Crumbled
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Thyme
(2 Tbs. Peace and Love)

DIRECTIONS:
Heat slow cooker on low setting

To slow cooker, add garlic, shallot, leek, celery, mushrooms, onions, 2 Tbs. butter, 1 cup chicken stock, and salt and pepper. Cover, and cook vegetables on low for 1 hour.

Complete this next step while the vegetables are cooking – In a large skillet over medium-high heat, pan-sear the chicken breasts in the remaining 2 Tbs. butter until they are browned on both sides. – About 5 minutes each side. (Chicken will not be fully cooked during this stage.)

Remove chicken from pan and set aside. De-glaze the pan with the remaining 1 cup of chicken stock. Using a rubber spatula, scrape up any bits of chicken that may be stuck to the pan. Add chicken stock to slow cooker.

Add heavy cream, cream cheese, garlic powder, and thyme to slow cooker. Stir until well combined and there are no longer any visible chunks of cream cheese.

Once chicken has cooled, cut into cubes and add to slow cooker, along with bacon. Stir until all ingredients are well combined. Cover and let cook for 6-8 hours.

Missy - I was really looking at the cream cheese also. I just can't seem to give it up until those wonderful muffins are all gone. Only two more in the fridge. Hopefully they will be gone when I get home, since the kids are home from school today.

Well I bounced back up to 180 today. I hit 180 on the 8th of this month, so that's 2 full weeks of no weight loss, which is a little depressing. I was feeling so down that I was actually eyeing the m&ms in the store today. Don't worry, I didn't, but it's so unlike me to even be tempted.

MtherGoos - I completely feel your pain. I had several weeks of stall a few months ago and I let it do me in. Good job on avoiding the m&ms. That is a slippery slope we all try to avoid!
