I completely screwed up tonight and didn't mean to. We went to the Cheesecake Factory and my plan was to order either a burger or steak. The ribeye steak was over $26 and the hamburger just didn't seem appealing this time. So I went with the teriyaki chicken and substituted broccoli for the rice. When it came, it had grilled plantains on one side and grilled pineapple on the other. I skipped those and just nibbled on the broccoli. I just got home and looked at the nutritional info and the dish has 210 carbs! I can't find any info on the chicken itself but I'm seeing that teriyaki sauce is full of sugar. If I had known what I was getting into, I think a piece of cheesecake would have been a better choice. This is probably going to set me back yet another week.

Bulldomom, I'm sure that count is for the full meal. The plantains would be extremely high carb, and the pineapple would have carbs too, and if the meal is supposed to come with rice, that's probably included in there too. So, while the sauce did have carbs, I'm sure it's nowhere near as bad as you're thinking.

Shelly, you needed a day to just let loose, so don't beat yourself up. Back on plan and keep moving forward.

Shelly, don't fret this - we all have had those moments. I think coming off the Chantix caused your emotional blow out with being depressed and such, especially if you just stopped taking it instead of weaning off it. Just give it a couple of days, if you are still having ups and downs, you might want to go back on it and then half the dose for 2-3 days, then half again for another 2-3.

Bulldogmom, it took me some time but I did the research and wanted to make sure before posting. The teriyaki chicken with the teriyaki saucefrom cheesecake factory only has 37 carbs. I tried to post the link but it wouldn't let me. The sauce is made with coconut milk and peanut butter for the carb count. SO a far cry from the 210 you thought. I hope that helps.

Hello everyone. I've been looking around the boards for some inspiration and have decided to give Atkins a go. I have not had great results with it in the past but I think that was due to two things, 1. too much cream and cheese and 2. sweeteners. I aim to avoid cream altogether, limit the cheese and try and avoid the sweeteners too. Let's see how this goes. I begin today.

I will make my 140 goal. I will keep trying.
Hello Skinny, I read your post on other thread. Congrats on the weight loss. I'm also opting for organic where possible. Concerned with all this GM feed and other crap that works it's way on to our shelves! I've been totally organic before but kind of slipped off the wagon. There use to be a GM foods list for the UK but I can't seem to find it now? Whole foods are definitely better....at least the packaging is easier to understand what with all the trickery that is used to sneak/keep in the rubbish! Oh, looks like I'm ranting a little, sorry. Anyway, well done!

I really hate 8 and 9 right now. I'm not even sure what to think about this weigh-in. We came home to a sick kid and I was up and down all night with her. I ate a boiled egg around midnight since I was hungry and knew it was going to be a long night. If I can get some sleep tonight, I think tomorrow's weigh-in will tell me where I'm really at.

Thank you! I could only find info for the whole dish and not for the chicken itself. I'm still not happy with the 37 carbs but that's more manageable. I should have just ordered the ribeye. The cheapskate in me kept thinking for the price of one of their ribeyes, I could have gone to the store and bought a week's worth of ribeyes for myself. Live and learn I guess.

Its kind of funny that when they brought my plate, we didn't know that it was plantains on the side. My dh ate one thinking it was eggplant. The look on his face was priceless. At least he was the guinea pig and ate one before I did. LOL I woke up bloated so I'm pretty sure the chicken still had way more carbs than my body likes.

Welcome! I never lasted too long on Atkins in the past so it didn't have a chance to work for me either. Being a part of this group has definitely helped this time around.

Good morning all my little awesome Warriors!!!
I hope you're all well and you have a great day.

BulldogMom and Shelly: I don't believe what happened or what you ate defines you so just take it in stride and start the next day with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. (OMG, that sounded so corny). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is sometimes we need a change, a break from this. There's nothing wrong with it if it helps you get thru an emotional time. It isn't the end of anything. You just start the next day knowing you will eat the foods that have helped you get to where you are. As long as you can deal with a temporary gain, then it's all good in my books. Much like the holidays, if it gets you thru the night and stay on course, then what's the harm, REALLY!!!! Don't be too bummed out. It'll get better.

Morning Ladies; off to the temple with my DW shortly. Had my 2 bulletproof coffees; still haven't tried my hand at oopsies yet.
Starting to think this time will be a long slow drive to fat loss as my body most likely remembers the last time?
Have a good day

Arb and Pcaltman, nice drops you two!

Missy Dee, I'm glad you posted your weigh-in, even if its up. It helps us all to see that everyone can have a bounce up at times. You know that number will go down again.

Bonny-Jean, You're going to be on that beach in a bikini in no time! I think I'm more ticked about the carby dinner and bounce up because it wasn't planned. Had I planned a cheat meal, it would have been something a heck of a lot better than grilled chicken! LOL

PaleoGuy, I think that slow losses sometimes equal better losses in the long run. But if you're worried about the rate of losing, just know that the oopsie rolls have stalled some people. I can't eat them or the one minute muffin with gaining the next day.

Yeah, I hear ya!! Well, I guess we can count on the fact that there WILL be another day down the road so the next one you can plan!! This is supposed to be a lifestyle change right, so we can't be 100% every single day. I know somewhere I will be having my day too. Not looking forward to it but hopefully can live with myself when I do. Last time I did this I was only 8 wks in and I would have paid 5 bucks for a bite of an apple and I don't even EAT apples!!!!!

Thanks Bulldog Mom and Missy Dee...always happy for a loss of any kind but I hate how an unexpected jump (especially when I don't understand what caused it ) can wipe out of teeny little losses....I've spent quite a bit of time last night and this morning reading through old posts in an attempt to find some tweaks that may help....seems that I need to up my fats..... (1 1/2 times the protein right?)......Missy do you see anything else here that I need to change? And any specifics as to how to go about making those changes? Thanks!!!!! in advance for your wonderful understanding of this WOE!!!

Good Morning everyone! Well, after 10 days of no weighing because of the house being torn up, I finally got to weigh in this morning for a great big loss of..... .2. Yup. Not 2, but .2. So depressing! My hope is that maybe it's just an up day and tomorrow will be better, but we'll see. Definitely not what I was hoping for. I know we've had to eat dinner out every night, but I've been extremely careful. Only getting things like bacon and eggs or steak, things that I'm pretty sure they can't add much to. And I've been testing my blood ketones more this week since I haven't been weighing and I've been deeply in ketosis every day, so I know I haven't eaten anything to knock me out of ketosis. We'll see what tomorrow brings, but I guess I should just be happy I didn't gain. Still a few more days before I get my kitchen back, but I'll be so happy when I get back to my cooking and quit eating out every night.

Shelly, it could be that this is just what your body needed to start losing again. If you hit induction hard, it could be that you've shaken it enough to really get you losing again and get off those last few pounds that you've been wanting to take off. I know it will work for you!

Bonny, wow, you're really having a great month!!! Good losses!!

Missy, I know you know this, but it's just a little blip up for who knows what reason, but it will be right back off. No worries.

PaleoGuy, honestly, I think taking it off a little slower is the key to long term success and keeping it off because we've worked harder for it, and really taken the time to change our habits and way of eating.

BulldogMom, sorry you had a rough night! Hopefully you'll get some sleep tonight.

So sorry Shelly!!! Sometimes it seems like we have to struggle so hard to be healthy and I know that it hurts to have one attempt at becoming healthier undermine the other attempt.... So happy that you are no longer a smoker though!!! That's such a major thing and such a super hard 'demon' to beat!!! You are already so good at the weight thing, and once the 'demon' is finally once and forever behind you, never to ever return then you can put your full attention back on the other? I sure don't mean to minimize either struggle but it just has to be so hard to do both perfectly and at the same time, too! Smile, you are doing a great job!!!

Wow, thanks for all the welcomes! This is a busy little thread and that's a good thing. Everything is going good so far. Tonights supper will be seasoned chicken drumsticks, rocket, basil, one cherry tomato and a little bit of feta cheese. I do like the food on Atkins so I sure hope this works for me. In fact I'm quite excited about this WOE. I've done Stillmans in the past....it's great for weight loss but can become incredibly boring so I'm looking forward to making some interesting tasty stuff this time around. Kind of feels like I'm not really on a diet, feels like I'm cheating having FF cheese. Like I said, I hope this works for me. Hope everyone is having a happy Sunday.

Yes, I have noticed that I lose more when I eat organic foods

Going to weigh in tomorrow and then once a week thereafter. I don't do well weighing more often as I get frustrated with stalls/little gains and end up giving up.

Hello. Rocket is a strong peppery type of leaf and by FF I just meant full fat. It goes well with Greek style cheese. One of my fave things!
