I want to get that stress ball this weekend to have on hand when I get the urge to turn around and raid the candy box. I've had that candy behind me for quite some time just need to focus. I bought 3 shirts today and 2 pair of shoes. Didn't take time to try everything on, so one is just right, one I need to lose about 2 inches in my chest to wear, and the last might be too big. At least the too small and too big I can wear with a shirt under them and wear them open. The shoes are great though. A pair of bootlets and a pair of suede flats in black. Going back when I have more time this weekend with the boyfriend. So here's to a great new start. Time to get off my butt and motivate. Now give myself a lil cheerleader

Welcome, CdnPaleoGuy! You don't really need to lurk though, we're not that scary! Any goals for January you'd like to share other than laying off the beer?

My DH let me know that he's down exactly 20 pounds as of this morning! Woot! Not bad for 2 months (along with eating what he wanted on T-Day and that same 9 day stretch of Christmas crazy eating). And one of his meds makes losing weight difficult! He's got a way to go, but he's doing great!

12/31....... 189.8
1/2.......... 192?
1/9.......... 190.2
1/10........ 189.4
1/11........ 189.0
1/12........ 189.4
1/13........ 188.8
1/14........ 189.0
1/15........ 189.6
1/16........ 190.4

I didn't get to weigh as soon as I got up so I don't know how accurate this would be. But I'm up as expected. Today I was planning to ditch the hwc from my coffee to see what happens. I've been stuck at 188-190 since November. Even when I cheated in December, my weight hovered around that mark.

Do some people have absolutely NO signs of ketosis?? Even when I go weeks 100% on plan, I have zero symptoms of ketosis?? I believe, from everything I've read that the ketostix are very unreliable so is it possible to do this and not shows signs of being in ketosis??? I'm attributing my weight loss to very low portions, really!

Bonny, I do think you can be in Ketosis without symptoms. If you're sticking to the plan, and keeping your carbs low and getting plenty of fat, I almost think you have to be in Ketosis. Don't you? I'm not positive, but I would think so. I test my blood ketones just to be sure because it's just another form of accountability for me. I don't trust the ketostix, they never seem to be accurate for me.

Laura, GO GIRL!!!!!

Welcome PaleoGuy! You don't have to weigh everyday to join. Just chime in when the mood hits.

Laura, you got this!

Arb and Bonny-Jean, You two are doing great with the losses! I think gravity here on Earth has changed for the rest of us.

Pcaltman, I tried cutting out the hwc too and never made it through breakfast. LOL I was craving a salad and my dressing is made with hwc. I did have coffee without it and it wasn't too bad.

Thanks everyone for all of the great comments. I'm am swamped so sorry about no personals for the moment! I am in a new job and the honeymoon period is over, so the projects, responsibilities, and travel is hitting. In addition to that and of course taking care of my 4 kids (human), 2 goats, 10 chickens, 1 dog and 1 cat, while the husband is away for this week and next week I'm feeling a bit pressed for time. Eek!

Jan Goal - 175 (This was my Nov and December goal and I made it both times. I hope to never make this my goal again)

Also, DH and I are started C25K again today. my secondary goal is to stay on C25K plan all month.

Jan 1 - 188
Jan 2 - DNW - C25K W1D1
Jan 3 - 183 (losing that water weight from the holiday carbfest)
Jan 13 - 180.4 (TOM)
Jan 14 - 180.8 (TOM) meat and egg fast (C25K W2D2)
Jan 15 - 177.4 meat and egg fast
Jan 16 - 176.6 meat and egg fast (C25K W2D3 - scheduled, I haven't completed this yet)

Still working on C25K, currently in week 2

Bonny yes I think you can be in ketosis and have no symptoms.

Bulldog - I just couldn't take now cream, lol. I will only have it in coffee for breakfast though. All other foods will be meat and side veggies (KISS: keep it simple sweetie). Water all day, tea at night w/no sweetener. Hopefully that will do it.

Gonna take the plunge!!!

I hope I'm making a smart decision but I think I've decided to buy a treadmill. Sears has a 2.75 Nordictrack on for $800 from $1800 or for a $100 more there's an XTERRA 3.25?? What to do?? What to do?? I'd love some feedback from you guys!

Bonny, I use a blood ketone meter. It's basically just like testing your blood sugar, but it's a different meter. You can get the meters for free, but the testing sticks are expensive. I usually get my testing sticks off of Ebay, and I don't test every day because they are pricey. Anything between 1.0-3.2 is usually what you're aiming for and I'm usually over 3.

So this morning, I got on the scale with my fingers crossed. 160 again. This afternoon TOM showed up. No wonder! I hate TOM, but at least that explains being stuck for a few days (and at least I didn't put on water this month like I typically do...unless I've actually lost a couple of pounds, but gained the water...whichever, it's fine).

Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret. I am over the wanting my period thing so could you just flip a switch and shut this uterus off already??? Thanks, Not-Actually-Margaret.

Thanks for the info. Well, forget the XTERRA, too many bad reviews. What luck that the sale at Sears ends TODAY!!! Got to decide!! Then where do I put it? OMG, why is this such a big deal?? They're quite large, right?? This one folds apparently. Maybe in time I can move it to the spare room and hook the tv up in there?? Ugh, don't know what to do!!!!

Afternoon Ladies & Gentlemen.
I'll forgive you all for missing my comment about having a beer because I was celebrating adding a candle to the cake.
I'm currently hovering between 260-270; still noticeable on a 6'3" frame. Both my DW & I are keeping the carbs <20g
Beer won't be a problem as I wasn't drinking it before unless there was a work function. Giving up on the happy hour scotch or whiskey is a little tougher.
So, other than keeping <20g I don't have anything specific yet. Seems my body remembers that it went through induction before & isn't letting go yet. Patience is a virtue...
I'll try to have a profile pic up by the weekend (no promises)

Gypsy, Too funny! But be careful what you wish for! Since I had my hysterectomy in July, I no longer have Tom, but keep getting a bacterial infection from the drop in estrogen and have to keep taking antibiotics. If it's not one thing, it's another.

Bonny, They are MASSIVE. Folding it up doesn't help much. My BF cusses me every time he has to move the stupid thing. And putting it together was a huge undertaking. If I had it to do over again, I would have paid the extra to let them put it together. Seriously. It's big, heavy, and a pain in the butt. Totally worth it once you have it all assembled, but there's no way I could have put it together alone. And you definitely want to set it up in the room that you're going to leave it in. We had to disassemble it to move it out of the bedroom we had it in to get the floors put in. When it goes back up, it's going in the den this time. It was too big to fit through the doorway.

Oh my!! Well, that's a lot to consider. Maybe I should wait till the bedroom is set up to assemble it there then? I wouldn't even consider assembling it myself or even with my son's help. That's always a fight. No, I fully intended to pay the extra to have them do the work. Live and learn, eh!! Okay, thank you. You helped me reach a decision. There will be another sale!! Thanks hon.

Hey, no worries. I totally appreciate that, really. I'm a bit of an "impulse" buyer and tend to do it very quickly and then have buyer's remorse so I'm grateful you helped me and told me the truth!! I've lived without one for 55, er rather 56 years so a few more months isn't gonna matter. Thanks again.
