Hi all,

I have decided to try the Whole30 and today is day one. I will not weigh myself but every Sunday or Monday. That is one of the rule not to weigh for the whole month. I know I will not be able to do a whole month without jumping on the scale Anyway this woe will just take out the cheese, cream, fake sugars to detox my body. I hope this works.

Sunday Jan 12 - 171.5

Menu:
B - 1 cup black coffee, 2 eggs, ham, red peppers, onions
L - 1 chicken breast, 1/2 avocado, 1 cup spinach w/balsamic dressing toasted walnuts
D - 1 chicken breast, 1 cup salad w/balsamic dressing toasted walnuts
S - tea (no sugars), Ham if I am hungry

Amazon delivered a day early, so now I have added Magnesium (wow are those some horse pills, but they went down better than I expected) and CoQ10 to my vitamin/supplement regimen.

My wedding band is much looser and my tummy seems less puffy, so even though I'm up .2, I can live with that (for now). Trying to keep extra super LC (below 5 carbs per day) and keep on upping my fat.

Pcaltman, after you mentioned the Whole30, I went to look it up because I'd never heard of it before. At first I was thinking "wow. that's really hardcore!" but the more I read, the more I thought "that's almost all of what I try to do anyway!" Best of luck to you!

My biggest struggles for a low carb life were bread and pasta. And Coca-Cola. Not diet. Regular Coke. Man, I just love it. Breaking free from it was rough. I don't really drink coffee (although I love Caramel Frappuccinos soooo much and I love gingerbread lattes-good thing they're only on my radar for November/December). Since all diet sodas I've ever tried give me wicked headaches (especially aspartame, but also the ones made with splenda), I have never been tempted to "treat" myself to diet soda. I always presume that SF candy will do the same thing to me, so I've never had any. I started drinking green tea when I gave up Coke (so I wouldn't be without my caffeine-that would not be pretty).

I don't drink sodas so that's a good thing. But I do love my wine. Also I love my 1 cup of coffee in the morning with HWC and 1 splenda, but can't have that on the Whole30. I do normally eat basic like that and have been buying organic meats and foods for the last 6 months. I think that the added cheese and creams are making it harder to loose. I am keeping it close to Atkins and not having the higher carb items like sweet potatoes. I am just so frustrated I have to try something, so hopefully this will keep me more on track. At least I am going to try. I am hoping all those steroids I was on didn't mess me up for good.

Day one almost down I did not end up eating the avocado for lunch. It wasn't ripe yet so that will be later in the week hopefully.

There are some great recipes on the web for Paleo/primal/Atkins (minus cheese) one of my favorites is cheaters stew.

Whoo Hoo Trismama!!

I've been good today! Lol! Had a salad with grilled chicken and ranch for lunch and water. I did have 1 diet pepsi earlier. Right now I have the scent of fresh baked double chunk chocolate brownies in my house! Darn kids! Lol! I can and Will resist though! pork chops and green beans for supper.

pcaltman, I might be behind you if I don't see some good losses soon. I can cut the hwc with no problems I think. Its the splenda that might give me trouble since all of my drinks are sweetened with it.

trismama, Awesome drop! WTG!

Gypsy, you're doing great as well! I've just added the CoQ10. I'm not sure what to expect with it.

Pink, good job for sticking to the plan!

My losses aren't as good as before my carb-out in December. I imagine it will take me all of January for my body to get sorted out again. I weighed in at 188.8 today. I go up, then down, then up and a little bit down etc etc. Not sure what the scales will do tomorrow since I had a taste of no sugar added frozen yogurt.

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: 2 egg omelet with scant 1/4 cup spinach (measured raw), 2 Tablespoons of feta cheese, cooked in a Tablespoon + butter

Lunch: 2 deviled eggs (4 halves) made with mayo, pepper, dried mustard, and a little salt

Dinner: 1 hamburger patty with a slice of sharp cheddar on top with a little mayo to dip the meat in. 1 deviled egg (2 halves).

3 cups of green tea with Tablespoon + of coconut oil. 1 cup green tea without.

I drink a minimum of 80 ounces of water each day on top of my 4 20 ounce cups of green tea. 160 ounces of fluids. Yes, I pee a lot.

Took my CoQ10...I can't remember why I bought it...I do remember several people recommending it, but I can't remember WHY they recommended it...hmmm....I sure hope it's for memory!

Thanks everyone! Loving the encouragement on this site. Can't wait to tackle this next week. For breakfast I usually just have some egg muffins with a decaf tea.

But I do have a question. Caffeine is a no-no during induction correct? Does decaf coffee taste far off from cafeinated? I'm scared to try it lol

You're doing great, Trismama!

I can't speak to the decaf question because I've been that weirdo that drinks maybe 2 cups of coffee a year. Never been a fan and when I've had those few cups a year, it's with about a pound of sugar and ton of milk! I'm sure there was less sugar in a can of Coke!

I do remember that caffeine was a big no-no for some versions of Atkins, but I think I remember reading that it was fine for other versions. They have learned a lot more about caffeine since the first version. I think the problem is that for some people it can cause sugar cravings...on the other hand, I could be remembering this all wrong!

Trismama decaf usually tastes a little differant to me But not To differant. Ended up having 3 sf candies tonight! Been slowly giving them up but then I started craving a Cig So bad! So I popped in a sf cinnamon candy instead!

Trismama: It's not a no-no, you're just supposed to limit to a cup or so. I tried the decaf and didn't really notice a taste difference but it sure put in slow mo after only a couple of days. I have 2 cups a day with hwc and Splenda and I don't feel like it's hurting my weight loss and if it did, well there's nothing I can do as I'm a certified caffeine addict!!! Must have coffee!!!!

arb & Chelsey - you all are doing great

So made it through day 1. On day two. Hubby running to Costco for shopping after work so still haven't decided dinner. I even went on a walk with him last night when he came home from work. We took the dogs, which is no fun, but got a small walk in so feel good about that.

Can't wait until Monday to see what I weigh. And it better show a loss.

Coffee - love my one cup in the am. It's killing me not to have hwc & splenda so I know that will be one things I add back in asap. But for now I am hanging in there.

Shelly, is it getting near tom? Some things are just unexplainable, but it will come off. You know it will.

Tris, WTG! I have never been without caffeine. I need my caffeine. For some it actually helps with the weight loss.

Bullldog and Laura, just keep at it. You are both doing great being back on plan. The weight will fall off soon.

So I've finally found my answer to low carb cheesecake that taste like cheesecake and has the texture of cheesecake. I found the sugar free/fat free cheesecake flavored pudding mix and mixed it with hwc instead of milk. Its good! The whole box of pudding mix has 24 carbs so you can't go hog wild but a small bit isn't bad.

Shelly, I'm frustrated for you too. But we know that in spite of what that number on the scale is, you are healthier than you've ever been. For whatever reason, your body just wants to hang on to some extra fluid.

Missy Dee, you are doing great!

Pink, I'm trying to tell myself that a little fluctuation isn't that bad. Hang in there and we'll both see the scale drop soon.

Nice drops Chelsey and Arb!!!

Pcaltman, wtg on sticking it out on your plan! I should ditch the splenda and hwc for a day or two and see what happens.
