Mthrgoos, I LOVE That tattoo and the meaning behind all of it! That is so wonderful! As for the new foods, you are only 30lbs from goal, why not try adding in mushrooms and onions now? I have ate them from the beginning. Not everyday thing, but on occasion and I just make sure my daily carb amount is 10 or under net.

Bonny, here is a link to a very low rate exercise program that most of which I can do and was going to try if not for my foot surgery. Chris Powell - The Workout (2011) - Level 1 - YouTube
Maybe it will help you if not to lose more weight but to help overall toning which will make you look thinner.

No weigh in for today, so no clue if my theory about shaving my legs helped me lose any weight! Was on the go from the second I got up today. Calling hours for a long time friend of the family and then DH and I went browsing at our favorite vintage stores and then to Chili's for dinner (steak and shrimp for us both. At a little of the broccoli, but mine was total mush and cold and DH's broccoli was RAW and cold). Saved us some carbs! We gently complained to our server (more to let her know that the kitchen was falling down on the job). She offered us free desserts that we declined, but they ended up comp-ing my meal completely! I really wasn't expecting that, we just wanted her to let the kitchen and/or the manager know that the veggie cookie was a total fail.

I am thinking this coming week I might stick strictly to meat and eggs and fats. No carbs at all other than the minimal amounts in the eggs...

Mothergoose, your new tattoo is gorgeous! And the artist is truly an artist!

Fantastic tattoo mthergoos!! Love it!!

Glad to see that everyone is doing so well staying on plan! I am certainly struggling but hanging in there! It's been cold, wet and dreary the last few days so I'm praying for better weather! Sorry for not posting more. Weeknights are always crazy busy.

I hope everyone has a great night! Great job Shelly with your quest to quit smoking! So glad you're doing so well with it! Hugs to everyone!

Thanks but truth be told 14 of the 36 was lost the first 2 wks, so I've only lost 22 in the last 3 months and 10 days. Not very good as far as I'm concerned but never give up and never give in. It is what it is so slow and sure is my game, I guess. I think I'm still gonna kick it up a little with some exercise. Big talk, I know. LOL.

Thanks everyone! Laura, I thought about including my grandkids too, but I have 6 kids, and so far just 2 grandkids, but I figure there are probably at least several more to come. Lol. I figure I'll do another one in a few years representing just the grandkids.

Laura, are you feeling better and less stressed?
Kemp, we're still missing you!
Bonnie, how did all the snow work go today?
Julie, I think a lot of us struggle in the winter. The weather makes you just want to hunker down, stay warm, and eat comfort food. Good for you for sticking with it!
Shelly, how are you doing with no cigarettes?

Oh Bonny, I forgot to answer your question from earlier. No, I don't like steak cooked on the stove or in the oven either. Bleh! One of the great things about living in Arizona is that we can grill outside all year long. It makes it so convenient!

This week though, I'll be curious to see how my losses are. We're having new flooring put in, so our house is torn up and we really can't cook or eat at home. Already the last 2 nights have been bunless burgers from mcdonalds and the rest of the week we'll be eating out too. I'll still be keeping it clean, and sticking to just steak or burgers, but I'm sure it's not as good for me as just eating at home.I'm hoping it ddoesn't affect me.

Mthergoos: First let me tell you that I think you got your money's worth with that tattoo. The line work on it is commendable. He really knows his stuff and it's beautiful. How painful was it, really?? I thought about getting a portrait of my ds but can't decide what age???

I didn't think you'd be eating eggs and beef on a frying pan. Yuck!! God bless you that you can bbq all year round. I could too, I guess but it's not appealing going out in this weather. Again, wish I was you! LOL.

Well, I got the garage and house roof all cleaned off. No more 3' of snow weighing the roofs down. Wow, talk about exercise!!! The ridge around the buildings must have been 3' high. Now I had to remove that!!! Got the snowblower going while my ds (he's 27 but more of a "condo" kind of guy) shoveled all the snow that came off the roofs and onto the front and back decks. Removed all the snow from the around the basement windows then blew everything into the yards. If that's what it takes to lose a pound then I'll stick with my current losses. That damn near killed me. My arms were vibrating before I even finished and last night my arms were covered in a heat sauve, then heated with Magic Bag then I even had to take a prescription Ibuprofen. Painful!!! This morning I couldn't even throw my covers off!!! Kinda overdid it but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?? No mens in my life!! LOL.

Have a great day everyone and I'm wishing you a loss today, big or small!!

Shell: I heard once from a doctor that the weight gain from quitting smoking was due to the blood cells filling with oxygen. Don't know anything about that but do know there is some initial weight gain when you quit but should even out in a few weeks. You put a lot of stress and challenges upon yourself at the same time!!! I wouldn't sweat the weight right now as the smoking thing is a much greater endeavour. You're doing so good with not smoking so if I were you I would just keep working on that goal right now. Good luck, hon.

Bonnie-Jean...THANKS so much!!!! You are such a great encourager!!! And I know you are right.....I keep telling myself 'patience...patience...patience' but seems like myself doesn't want to believe it.....I guess I'm just too much of a control freak....I can control what I eat, and log every morsel so I know I'm doing it right....now I want to control the scale too and just cannot....it is going to do what it wants to do regardless....frustrating!! but I will be patient thanks to all the encouragement on here
Shelly, you are doing sooo well!!! When I quit smoking 15 years ago I gained 60 lbs!!!! that's what got me here but you won't have to do that since you are on top of the weight from the get go.... you are doing great!!!!

Well, a lot is going on lately with me, so I guess i will live at 165 forever or so it seems. I was hating life last night between foot, stomach, and leg pains. I don't think I got more than 2hrs sleep. My foot is finally on the mend though and looks 200% better thanks to the 2 antibiotics. We went to my moms yesterday to check out some wallboard rot and found out she has termites. Uggghh... gross little creatures. So we are getting her some boric acid today. My mom also had a nice chat with my dh which changed his whole attitude. He even came home from work and cleaned the kitchen and made dinner. So he was definitely feeling guilty. Today we are also going to pick up my 20yr son. He is going to stay with us for awhile. I don't know for how long. That will be a big change and hopefully won't cause problems. My dh is his step-dad and they have never gotten along real well. So I am stressing a little over that.

Well, I hope everyone's weekend has been good and hopefully the weight loss fairy will start coming to visit us all again.

Ava, I am right there with you. Bouncing at this 165 since the 4th.

Kemp, come out, come out, wherever you are!

Shelly, I was thinking about jumping on the bandwagon with you and try to quit smoking. But with everything going on, I just can't handle the stress of that right now. Maybe next month. Keep at it Gurl, You are doing Wonderfully!

On average, women will gain 1- 5 lbs of water, just from hormonal issues, so I try not to obsess over the scale & only weigh once or twice week, rather than every day!

Missy, I'm sorry you're having so much stress right now! Sometimes, when we have so much insanity going on in our lives, just maintaining is a victory in itself. It's those times when we would normally turn to the foods that give us comfort and got us here in the first place, so by not doing that, you're winning already! The scale will continue to drop, you know it will, so keep doing what you're doing. I really hope you get to feeling better soon, I'm sorry you're in so much pain!

Here are my staples:
Oils/Fats:
butter
coconut oil

Seasonings:
salt
black pepper

Proteins:
eggs
chicken thighs
ground beef
ribeye steaks
pork steaks

Veggies:
broccoli
greens
cauliflower

I am trying no coffee right now, so I haven't had any in a couple days.

Sample Menu:

B: 2 scrambled eggs. Scrambled in butter with salt and pepper.
L: 2 baked chicken thighs 1/2 cup steamed broccoli with butter little salt and pepper.
D: Pork steak broiled salt and pepper seasoning. 1/2 cup steamed cauliflower with butter salt and pepper

I've dried out some flank steak strips into jerky in the oven for snacking if I have a snack it's either that or left overs from a previous meal.

The marinade I used for the flank strips is low sodium soy, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper.
