So much to get caught up on.

Thanks I definitely need one. Also the weight gain today could be the pepperoni - sodium. If so, it should come back off quickly.

Shelly, You are doing so well quitting smoking. KUTGW!

ShrinkingAmber, Great news on the job. I hope you really love it!

Bonny, Look at you! down a pound overnight!

Shrinking, Definitely a compliment. They love you for you.

Laura, I hope the stress get better for you and no more attacks.

arb, that was to funny about the dentures.. As for the weight bounces, mine does that all the time. I just look at the weekly trend, as long as overall going down I am good.

Welcome Meep! Glad you are here and feeling Great!

Chelsey, You are doing Awesome!

Nicki, Don't be so down. A loss is a loss and always GOOD! I try to weigh daily first thing in the morning because that is when I weigh the least. I used to be obssessive about it, but now I just view it as a number.

Doing Good Pinky!

So I have started, today with trying to eliminate my morning coffee. I'm alive so far, but I REALLY would adore a cup. So, this is the last of the dairy/ artificial sweetener I can remove from the menu. Now I will just be down to butter, coconut oil, salt, pepper, eggs, chicken thighs, beef, or pork, broccoli, greens, and cauliflower as my staples. I am keeping under my 20gs daily, keeping portions reasonable. No movement on my tape, and staying within this 1 lb atm. I hope something happens soon. I feel like I'm getting left behind!

Ava, just a suggestion - maybe up your daily cals by increasing fat instead of removing it. I try to get at least 1.5x fat more than protein per day, usually with the HWC in coffee. Were you gaining with dairy? I don't remember what you were consuming dairy-wise.

Ava: Are you using only whipping cream in your coffee... no milk!!! I could never give up my coffee. I have to have my morning cup. I thought it might be slowing me down but with this cold weather I just needed to add a cup or two in the evening and it hasn't been a problem. I just won't deal with that anxiety while I'm doing this. Enjoy your coffee, Hon. I find it hard to believe that it is the problem. Good luck.

Missy: Dairy seems to make me slow down or stop, but at this point not much is moving anyway. But I had to take out all cheeses, so HWC was the last of my dairy that I am trying to hold on to. I add extra fats to my veggies with butter, and don't use white meat chicken atm, just darker cuts like thighs with more natural fats. The beef I'm using are well marbled rib eyes steaks, and pork steaks. When I make eggs I scramble them in butter. So I am thinking I have enough cals from fats.

Bonny: I use Land O'Lakes heavy whipping cream. I do not use half n half or milk for my coffee, just delicious creamy heavy whipping cream!

I love my coffee. I'm sure the 2 TBS of HWC I am having isn't what is stalling me, but I will try it a few days, and if STILL no change, I WANT IT BACK lol.

Kemp, so glad you're back! We missed you!

BulldogMom, I so completely agree with Bonny. You don't need people in your life who disrespect you and treat you like that. You DON'T deserve it. Don't allow her unkind words to send you to a dark place. Next time she runs her mouth with rude comments, maybe you can say to her, "Do you realize how rude and hurtful what you just said was?" Maybe it will just open her eyes to what she's saying and how she's behaving. And if she still doesn't "get it", then maybe you just don't need her in your life. Nobody should be made to feel that way. And, for what it's worth, we all love and respect you and appreciate you for all the support and friendship that you give us.
Thanks! You all are right and if she wasn't family, I would have left her in the dust a long time ago. I don't think she is intentionally trying to be mean, she just doesn't think about what she's saying or how she's saying it.

I was without internet since last night and was that a miserable experience! Still trying to get back in the swing of things eating wise. I was going to cut back on how much coffee I drink but its too darn cold. I've got the heat up, the fireplace going, 2 layers of clothes, a blanket, a cat and 2 dogs to keep me warm and I still feel too cold. I think I'm overdoing it with splenda and hwc. Its supposed to warm up here so I'll try and cut back to one cup a day and eventually not have any at all.

Hi Everyone! Dragging butt today! LOL Had to get up at 4 am to drive out to Phoenix for a Dr Appointment, so I'm ready for bed already! Sadly, I have 3 more hours of work. I'm so NOT a morning person.

Kemp, where are you? Waiting on our details of your vacation! Some of us are going to live vicariously!

Laura, why are you stressed? Any better today?

PC, I bet you're just retaining water from the pepperoni. No worries, it will be gone soon.

Bonny, you always make me laugh!

I'll catch up more later. Have to make up for being gone all day!

I hope you're not coming down with something?? If you're cold and uncomfortable who cares if you have 1 or 2 extra cups of coffee. Nobody and no diet is gonna make me give up my coffee. You'd have to pry it from my cold, dead, fat hands!!!! It has become my comfort food instead of ice cream and pizza and tons of mashed potatoes ..... oh, that sounds so good. WAIT, never mind.... had a "squirrel" moment. Anyway, enjoy your coffee as I am doing right now.
btw: that's quite the pic of your bully!! Scrunchy face!!

Bonny, I'm with you! Except for me, it's Diet Pepsi, but the feelings are the same. I've given up everything else, no way I'm giving up my Diet Pepsi. Nope, just not going to happen.

MissyDee, thank you for the support! Sorry about your mom. I guess if we had supportive and kind family members, we wouldn't find ourselves here. And I am truly grateful for all of the people here. Take care of yourself and that foot. I'm praying for a speedy recovery!

Gypsy, I'm sorry about your dad as well. I think these parents might be well meaning, but do a lot more harm than good. My family on the outside looks good, but we are so dysfunctional that a good soap opera could be written about us.

ShrinkingAmber, congrats on the new job!

Shrinking, I agree with Mthergoos. Take what the in-laws said as a compliment. Great job on your losses!

Laura, so sorry about your rough day! You'll get back on track.

Meep and Chelsey, you two are doing great! Awesome losses!

niciK, Your losses are great! I can eat the same menu every day but not have the same losses every day. There are so many variables. Stay on plan and you'll be under 300 in no time.

Arb, I agree with Bonny. You are doing great!

pcaltman, I would bet its water weight from the sodium in the pepperoni. Pepperoni gets me every time I eat it. It'll come off soon.

I know it's just coincidence but I gave up my diet Coke for the last 3 months but started having a glass or two the last few nights and my scale moved????? Thanks God it's not as bad as coffee for me but as long as we're not drinking 2 ltrs or 2 quarts a night, is it really gonna hurt anything?? I'm gonna say NO!!
Bottoms up!

Avaleigh, I'm in the same boat as you. I feel like I'm in a stall pattern, never mind I took the whole month of December off to be carb crazy. But I've been eating on plan since the first and no pounds lost. I'm sensitive to dairy as well so I'm trying to cut back on my coffee....I was having 3-4 cups daily with liquid splenda and hwc.

Bonny-Jean, I have two little ones in school so who knows what germs they bring home. I'm not feeling sick though, just cold. I'm not crazy enough to completely give up my coffee. But I heard somewhere that if you are insulin-resistant, that artificial sweeteners can make it worse. I'm not sure how to take this information since it comes from the people who believe in low fat diets.

Mthergoos, I was looking at your menu you posted and we eat the same foods except I don't eat the cheese. I think maybe I eat a lot more protein than you do though.

Shelly, I still think you are doing great! To maintain your losses while quitting smoking isn't an easy task. Good job!

I fought hard not to drink Diet anything. I loved my Pepsi way to much. But I forced myself to drink it now I can't really taste the difference anymore. I mean when my dh gets me one at the convenience store - even after tasting it, I ask him are you sure this is diet? I don't drink it everyday, but not giving it up either. And NO way would I ever give up my coffee. I gave up the creamer and sugar and now use hwc in it, but that is where I draw the line.

So everyone who says they wouldn't give up coffee, do you think 3 cups a day is bad? The rest of the time I'm drinking water w/ enhancers.

BulldogMom, I eat a pretty good serving of protein with dinner. I always eat all the visible fat off of my meat first, and then eat some of the rest of it. And what I don't eat, the dogs are happy to take off my hands for me!

2 Questions for you all in the know...

Hello everyone!

I have only really had one problem since I started induction on Monday. Tuesday morning when I got up, my lower back hurt. and it hasn't stopped hurting. I was worried it was my kidneys, but it doesn't hurt when I sit still, it only hurts when I move in certain ways. I am drinking a LOT of water. Not like crazy that can hurt you but staying very hydrated. It is quite possible I hurt my back in my sleep, but I figured I would check in with you all.

One more question while I am at it.
I have PVCs. Most do, I am just a freak and feel them. My heart is sound. No issues there. I have been holter monitored in the last year. All is good. Are there any other out there who have PVCs and do they increase when you are on induction? In the past they have for me but this time they haven't and I am just curious.

Thanks,
Meep

I'd say check your mattress for popped springs or flip it around.

As for the PVC, I have it and suffer MVP as well. But all's well with my heart so far, thank God. Just have to live with the skipping sometimes rapidly. I haven't had any increased issues with them on induction, but my PVC is benign.

Mther and Bulldog, I fight to get to 40g protein a day. So I have recently started adding in Syntrax Nectar Whey Protein Isolate to reach my 60g a day. Only adds an extra 100 cals and is pure protein, no sugars, no carbs. But I read somewhere once you get to within 50lbs of weight loss remaining, you have to make sure you get adequate protein or you could start losing muscle.

Has anyone else used a protein isolate to help increase protein in their diet?

My vote is NO!!! I drink 1 in the morning and 1 after work but I'm using lots of hwc and Splenda so that's probably not good for the scale. Meh!!

Missy, I'm really really bad about not weighing or measuring anything, so I honestly don't know how much protein I get each day, but maybe I should start paying attention to it. How do you use that Isolate?

1. It's EXTREMELY possible that's all it is. I've never heard of Atkins causing this problem. Just follow the book. I think it's just coincidence that your back hurt right after starting. You should always see your doctor before starting any diet or exercise program. Hey, I sound like an advertisement. LOL. Good idea to get your numbers checked and make sure you're good to go from the beginning.

2. I know nothing of PVC except that it's a pipe so I'll let the wiser folks reply on that one. Take care.
