Such an inspiration. I'm like 225 now and I would like to be around 180 lbs by June. I don't focus on lbs that much, but concentrate on my body fat but it would be nice to go down on the scale while still building muscle and losing fat.

trying to up my exercise and measure everything ....

skinny - I really do like how you lost all your weight and will be trying lots of your tips.. thanks

I also battle with low thyroid, so it was super difficult having to avoid certain foods that would actually cause me to get bloated & gain weight.

Here is what I did & hopefully, by sharing I can help someone else:

1. I counted carbs & did not eat over 30g carbs daily.
2. I watched my sodium intake
3. I counted calories and did not eat over 1500 calories a day
4. I drank 8 glasses of water daily
5. I did NOT eat cabbage or kale or "crack slaw" since it made me bloated
6. I did NOT eat fat bombs, as they also caused me to gain
7. I tried to stick to organic & healthy foods (no junk food or fast food)
8. I workout 4 mornings on an empty stomach for 30 -45 minutes.
9. I did not eat anything after 7pm.

Please share any successful tips, if you have also lost over 40 lbs
Wooooohoooo you ROCK! Here is my data. I lost 117 lbs in 8 months:

My 12 Personal Keys to a Healthier, Happier and Thinner Me:

1. No more than 6 carbs a day
2. No more than 1200-1400 kcals daily (Started with 600-700 and added 50 kcals a week since 1 January)
3. Exercise at least 2 hours a day (wt train every other day)
4. I don't eat processed foods, nuts or cheese (they stall me)
5. I drink water and dt soda when thirsty
6. I know what I am going to eat way a head of time to ward off the bad food choices.
7. I keep a very accurate food log
8. I don't eat beef or dairy (but I do use 2 T. ID coffee creamer for my coffee), but have plenty of chicken breast and fish. Pork rinds are a huge BLESSING!!
9. I eat a big (5 or 6 oz) salad a day
10. I only eat one time a day because eating more often makes me hungry all day long.
11. I weigh myself daily
12. I tossed out all my "fat" clothes when I outgrow them (or is that un-grow them??), I use to box 'em up and save them. Then I realized I was GIVING myself permission to fall off the wagon and REGAIN the weight. How insane is that??? My original goal was to wear size 14 jeans -- now I'm in size 6.

Great job guys. I think the true key to both of you is that you paid attention to which foods slowed weight loss and got rid of them. Everyone is different so you have to find what works for your own body.

Ugh oh I've been getting chicken wings and beef terryaki the past 2 weeks every other day. Hmmmm.... Could be why I'm not losing. Thanks for that tip!!

Skinny B, thanks so much for your post -- you are totally an inspiration to me, you look beautiful, and I send you much congratulations and hope to be celebrating with you shortly I am in a similar boat as you, I started induction 2.5 weeks ago at 5'6" and 185 lbs and am hoping to get down to 135 by the time my best friend gets married in mid-September (4 days shy of my 7 month mark on Atkins).

Yay you! Way to Go! What an inspiration...and one I needed to read today. I am on day #1 induction. I am determined to lose the weight...but I also don't want it to take years. I am using the atkins carb counter app to track carbs and calories. Did you focus on the % of fat/protein at all?

Here's hoping I will be able to post an equally inspiring story in a few months

Do you take anything for the hypothyroid. I just found out few weeks ago that I have hypothyroid but I know I've had it for years.
I don't want to take prescription drugs for my thyroid and I'm trying a more natural approach.
I've started avoiding floride in tooth paste and water. Stopped with the green tea. Added a thyroid support and cortisol supplement from natural food store. Also doing infrared sauna to rid toxins from the body. Going with organic products as well
How is your thyroid now.
Thanks and great job on your success

Hello

HI Im a Newbee to the low carb eating, been at it for a week and have lost 6 lbs so far. I have read the posts and you refer to "Fat Bombs"" what is that?? I too have low thyroid and I'm wondering about the references you make to foods that cause you to be bloated? I notice that you also have no yolks....why? Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated???

"fat bomb" is a food with high amounts of fat.. normally this is done so you can meet your fat requirements. here is an example of a fat bomb but there are many recipes out there (mostly deserts) Perfect Cup of Bulletproof Coffee | Ruled Me

Good job everyone! My new goal is 125. However, I am now eating a Raw Foods Diet, since I got tired of meat. I will resume Atkins/South Beach once I reach my new 125 goal! Hang in there. It can be done. In August 2013 I was 200 lbs & wearing a size 14. Now I am 140 and a size 4/6. I do not take any thyroid meds, I believe in a natural cure, with extra weight being a culprit. I will get my thyroid rechecked this summer, but so far, my thyroid levels are great since I lost the weight.

Very inspirational journey Skinny--thanks for sharing this.
I too have just been diagnosed with low thyroid. Can I ask what
differences did you see in your weight/appetite when you went off
drugs? I am like you, I don't want to take any drugs...
How much weight did you lose to see a difference in your levels?

Have a great day with losses on the scale!!

Are there any updates? I was wondering if you had a very inclusive list of what you would eat in a normal week. Thanks

My closet has everything from size 4 to 16!
I know what you mean. I joke and say I'd have all new clothes if I could get down to a size 10.

Did you partake in any low carb protein bars or any diet drinks? I'm really thinking that my fat is so stubbourn, I'm going to have to give up ALL of my "goodies" like diet soda, and my pre-soccer game Protein plus bar.

Hopefully I can keep my Citrus Green Tea and Poweraid Zero which I drink after soccer to replenish electrolytes - that's once a week though. I drink water for regular workouts.
