December goals: Arm weights every other day, crunches everyday. Weight goal is a very aggressive 159.anything!

December 1: 170.2
December 2: 168.8 Whoosh!
December 3: 168
December 4: 168.4...not sure what that little blip is about, maybe I inhaled too much powdered sugar???
December 5: 167.8 Yay! I inhaled less powdered sugar than the day before!

Feeling strong and focused (which is always good)!

Yesterday my sister-in-law said to me "You're not going to eat just one cookie??? It's Christmas!" I replied "No. It's not Christmas, Christmas is December 25!" I also told her I would help DH stay strong because he's been doing great on LC with me.

He needs to get weight off far more than me. All that muscle loss after the stroke hasn't helped his metabolism one bit and even though he was weighing the same as pre-stroke, he was fatter because of it. And his stamina is still pretty low. We're both only 44. Time to get back into life as much as we can! He was 256.8 on 11/30 and is 252.8 this morning! I usually cook all meals for the both of us, so I was happy with his loss because I haven't been around during the day the past few days to help him (and make sure he isn't accidentally eating higher carb stuff that is in the house for the kids)! His short-term memory is still pretty spotty, so I worry a bit when I'm not around to help him with the food! Last summer and fall he walked everyday (and we walked almost 4 miles a day with lots of hills) with me and our DD and lost not a single pound. And he read a great article yesterday that he put in my facebook wall yesterday that says what we (and Atkins) have been saying for ages! LC works and it IS good for you. He said he felt happier after reading the article and more committed to the plan than ever.

Congrats to everyone with losses! And congrats to those that didn't for sticking with it!

Today, DD and I are off to my mom's to help her pack her house up for her big move into town in a few weeks. I am so happy that she finally gets to move after wanting to do so for years. My grandma (that she's been caring for full-time for years) finally got accepted into an Alzheimer's unit.

Have a great day everyone, especially those of you in the path of that big storm!

Our weather is all over the place. Its 70 here. I can't believe I'm wearing shorts in December. My dogs should be outside but they would rather be inside messing with our Christmas tree.

This would be the bone-headed bulldog crawling out from under the tree to get to the cat.

I love the cold weather! I'd much rather be cold than hot. But then again, cold here is like 30 degrees. ha! Most of the time our winter hovers around the 50s.

Cute bulldog!!!! Love their squishy faces.

Mthrgoos - I feel like you should have another goal milestone in your siggy between now and 166. I like celebrating those with you!!

Ah! Thank you Asmallerme! Yeah, I couldn't think of another goal in between, but getting to each new decade always makes me feel good! Only 24 pounds to the 166, so hopefully within the next few months! Thank you so much for the support!

23 here right now! Sleet is about over but snow is on it's way. Anywhere from 5-7 inches. I'll take the snow Anyday over the ice! It's been a constant struggle not to eat today! Not HC junk but the LC stuff I want to eat. So i've tried to keep busy but being stuck inside is not fun

I'm sorry Shelly! That does just really suck! And you're right, being stuck inside and being bored makes you want to snack. Any projects you can start? Anything you've been putting off, but need to do? Like cleaning out closets? Organizing cupboards? Writing Christmas cards? Anything that can help keep you busy so you don't want to eat or think about food?

Hey Shelly... yeah, that sucks but way better than a twister, right?? I hate winter, I mean real Canadian winters, LOL, but I'll take that over flash floods, earthquakes and tornados any day!! Hopefully you'll find something to take your mind off the boredom and stress of what's coming!

Just want to say "HEY" to Amber! Good to see you, girl! You and Kemp need to get Nurse Chelsea and the band will be back together. I wasn't a member, but I really loved the old thread. It was a thread full of great people with a lot of heart.

You are a terrific lady! I wish you the best with life and fat loss and everything.

Cheers!

Mothergoose: I will be prepared for sure. I am cooking up some bacon in small pieces to eat like potato hips. And have some homemade egg salad to bring also. Sitting at a table with everyone pigging out on cookies and snacks makes it tough but knowing I have to run 8 miles the next morning should get me through. Thanks for advice.

Kemp, I've found that if I microwave some pepperoni for one minute, it becomes like chips too. I sometimes will dip it in cream cheese. YUM! Good snack.

Hi all,

Just checking in. I thought it was going to be cold today with everybody on here talking about how cold it is. I guess not. I walked outside and 70* are you kidding me. They are calling for snow Sunday though so it's coming my way. Hanging in there. Still have my headache: stars: and feel awful. No fun......

Gypsy - I know much more than I want to about strokes. I think I talked to you about it before. My dad had 2 back to back 6 years ago now. He never recovered. It took us 3-4 months to even get him to be able to swallow. He can talk and is not really there all the time, but he is still here and I love him dearly. I understand you not want to leave him, we can't my dad. Your hubby will continue to get better. It does take time and I am so glad to hear he is doing well. He is young too, that's a good thing on his side.

Hopefully I wont be heavier tomorrow, but you never know.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Jeff's stroke was very traumatic. He had a massive bleed (most strokes are clots) and then the blood and the Cerebral Spinal Fluid (we produce about a tablespoon each hour) started to build in his head because the ventricles (that drain out the CSF we produce) were blocked by the bleed. We were told to say goodbye. Looking at his scans later, multiple doctors said he was either "seconds" or "minutes" from death. He is lucky that he his arrival in the ER pretty much coincided with a truly rock star neurosurgeon that likes to round on his patients very early in the morning happened to be there. We have two neurosurgeons in our small city, the other one is good, but I've been told by all the nurses, aides, and other doctors that if Jeff had had the other surgeon that he wouldn't be here today. We are fortunate that the right surgeon happened to be there are precisely the right moment. We were told that this long-shot Hail Mary of a surgery gave him precisely a 10% chance of just living through the surgery itself. No one knows why my DH is still here. He had 5 IVs through a PICC line, multiple other IVs separate from the PICC, he was intubated and extubated multiple times before they went ahead and did a tracheostomy, he had a drain into his head. He was truly a mess. His stroke was on the left side of his brain, so thankfully his language and speech were not affected. His long term memory is fine, he has the ability to make new memories which is wonderful. He is just quite forgetful at times. He went to the grocery store a few weeks ago alone and it took him almost an hour to find his car in the parking lot. He said he was ready to start crying (this is a man who does not cry!) and call me to come and help him find the car. He did find it eventually, but it really shook him up. I decided since we're moving to Florida in about a month that I am going to buy him a GPS for Christmas so he can find his way around easily! He has absolutely dumbfounded the medical experts. I worry because that's how I roll and I am definitely getting better about leaving him alone to manage himself! His intellect, sense of humor, and personality are intact. It's been a long road and we're coming up on the first anniversary on the 21st of this month and I may have a few vodka and Diet Cranberry drinks that day! Or just have myself a good cry. My husband has been a crusader for stroke and high BP awareness pretty much from the first day he got home from the hospital. I am so proud and grateful about how far he's come from those first few terrible weeks.

Was hoping to be 140lb by Jan 6th (MEXICO!!) but being as I only managed a 3lb drop in Nov and still sitting at 150.5 I doubt I will make it.. Maybe I can hope for 145?!?

I lose really well during the week but my hubby doesn’t support this WOE so I tend to go a little off the rails on the weekend.
I always gain back 2-3lbs over the weekend and instead of losing the weight I need to, I just work the week trying to lose the weight I gained on the weekend which of course results in VERY slow weight loss.
We are also MAJOR wine drinkers (It doesn’t help I work for a winery and have it at my disposal at all times.. A blessing and a curse ) Last week was a little ridiculous on the wine aspect, seems we had a glass every night which even tho I stuck pretty close to under 20carbs most nights it totally slows my loss and causes me to gain a lot of water weight as well. Haven’t had any this week but with 2!!!! Christmas Parties this weekend I know that’s going to change.. Feeling focused, so I think I can stay away from the non-approved foods (I say that now, wait until I get a little wine in me and decide I am “Queen of the Carbs”)
So wish me luck!! I really need a good drop here soon.
Welcome to the thread!

Good Morning all,

Skinny - I just made Linda's mock potato soup recipe last night and It was good Tis the soup season

Gypsy - My dad wasn't suppose to live either, but he did. They told us he wouldn't make it past 2 weeks. He is a mess and I miss him a lot, but he is still here. Not really my dad though. I so get how hard it was. I lived at the hospital for 4 months. Hubby took time off work to take care of the kids so I could be there. It was called his death bed watch. They still haven't figured out why he had the strokes. They did everything to find out, but nothing. I guess God had a reason for all of this.

So upset this am. Got on the scale and up another 1lb. WTH!!!! Hubby was so supportive and said I have not been off this week so the scale means nothing. He told me I shouldn't weigh everyday. I don't mind the ups and downs a bit, but this is ridiculous. On top of the TOM stopped. I am sure all of this has to do with that, but what a way to make a girl feel bad

Goal = 158

Weights:
Dec 1 - 166
Dec 2 - 167
Dec 3 - 168
Dec 4 - 167
Dec 5 - 168.5 (tom)
Dec 6 - 169.5 (WTH!!!! tom stopped)

Menu:
B - coffee, hwc, splenda, 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 sausage patty
L - tiny bit chicken salad, turley w/mayo
D - mock potato soup, turkey w/ting bit of gravy
S - coffee, hwc, splenda

Bonny – Such a warm and sunny climate! We all are fighting to get up there

Shelly – How is the weather there?

MtherGoos – You almost make me wish we were snowed in. Your suggestion made me think of a dozen projects I could get done!

Kemp – Do like I do and bring your bag of cooked bacon in with you. Everyone gets a chuckle anymore at Lori and her bacon!

Avaleigh – Things are going in the right direction!

Skinny – I have a lot of recipes, but none I have tried other than Linda’s LC Creamy Southwestern Taco Soup. And I must say it is delish, but has a lot of salt in it and causes a gain if I eat too much. But it is quite yummy.

Gyspy – So glad you are back and I hope that you continue to do well with all the things you have going on.

PC – I know how frustrating it is. I went through the same thing for a bit. Just stick with it and you will do great!

Finally my weight is headed the right way again. Hopefully for a while instead of the roller coaster I have been on. I did have a salad yesterday at lunch, because I ate out with a friend, but apparently it helped!
