I feel so much better now that I quit. I was on 2 inhalers for asthma and a prescription for allergies, I no longer take any of that medication. I also used to get bronchitis every year and haven't since I quit.

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year's Eve!
Shelly - the most serious side effect with chantix can be suicidal ideation, so please tell your doctor if that starts happening. It is NOT common.
Missy -- yeah - au jus would have been good - what i was served was not.

I had a mammogram a few months ago- all clear (and my mom and grandmother both had breast cancer) -- the machine didn't hurt at all, compared to the last one (20 + years ago!) !!

First started Atkins April 1, 2002.
Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.

Congrats to all who dropped some weight, to all who have conquered cancer and to all who have and will quit smoking.
I tried the patch years ago and the worst side effect was the bizarre dreams or nightmares. Good thing is they only last a few nights. I guess it's from the constant bombardment of nicotine in the system. They will subside so good luck with quitting for good!

First a Happy New Years Eve to you all. Those who are quitting smoking you rock!! I quit 2 years ago. Had a couple slip ups along the way but feel way better. I used a blu ecig to quit. Started at high nicotine and went down to none. It worked!
I'm back down 4 pounds of the 7 i gained while on vacation. There's a 90 day low carb challenge group on Facebook I've joined. I think it's gonna be a good year.
Plans for tonight. I might hook up my Kinect and play Zumba for a bit, knit a little and watch the ball drop.

Good luck Shelly. I will pray for you. I have been on the no smoking/smoking rollercoaster since age 15. If you have family and friends that don't smoke it should be a lot easier than it has been for me. My entire family with the exception of my brother are smokers. I never tried to quit using any meds because I was/am fearful of side effects and I already take so many meds. Her's to you and a non-smoking New Year!

On a personal note, I have sabotaged myself today. I had foot surgery yesterday which has kept me laid up today. And my family has been on my case about losing weight to fast. So I decided to slow down my weight loss instead of goal by June, I figured by end of 2014. So what do I do? I chose to eat another cornbread cake today for lunch. Well, that will definitely slow down weight loss = stall. Sometime today, I am going to re-read my 72 book, run my simulator, and determine how to maintain/lose 1/2lb to 1lb a week without eating lots of junk or what I consider junk - ie pasta, potatoes, rice, breads. Maybe start incorporating 1 indulgence day a week without going overboard. I don't know, I'll figure it out or try until I do.

I hope everyone has a very Wonderful New Year's, and if you have functions etc to go to that you remain safe!

Missy Please don't let other peoples opinions sabatoge you. Believe me i've heard it all in the last 1 and half! How i'm To skinny now, how I need to eat in Moderation, how Bread is "Good for me" you name it! If YOU decide to slow down on your weight loss that's ok but don't let others decide it for you. Shelly I cant wait until somebody says I'm too skinny. lmao. I have never had anyone say that to me ever! In fact my 90 y/o grandmother says I'm fat because I ate all my peas once at her home. She tells this story over and over. I knew you and your cousin would be fat the day I told you to get up from the table and you said, "Grandma I have just 5 more peas left".

Happy New Year Everyone!! Well no further losses for me this month, so I'm ending the month with an 8 pound loss. Wish it was more, but I'll take it. And I'm ending the year 116 pounds less than I started it, so I'm very thankful for that too.

Shelly, I'm glad you reminded me, I need to get my mammogram too. No family history, but since I'm taking the estrogen replacement, I need to keep up with my mammogram. Speaking of which, I got new bras this weekend and not to give TMI, but I've gone from a 48DDD to a 36DD. So much easier to find bras now! LOL

Laura, so glad you're okay and safely back home!

BulldogMom and Mycattaz, glad to see you both back and hope we hear lots more from you in January!

Bonny, 5 pounds is still great! Especially with eating things that you normally wouldn't have. So your weight loss is great, but your weather sounds HORRIBLE! Seriously, it hits 60 degrees here and I'm freezing. I don't think I'll be coming to visit you any time soon.......

Missy, I agree with Shelly, don't let any body else interfere with you decide is best for you. If you want to slow down your weight loss, then you should definitely do it, but don't do it because someone else pushed you into it. I think we all hear all the comments. My sister asks me quite regularly when I'm going to start adding fruit into my diet and eating "healthy". I've given up explaining how healthy my way of eating actually is and just tell her never and leave it at that. Time will tell and my good health will be her example. You do what is right for you.

I hope everyone has an amazing new year! Stay safe. I work all day tomorrow, so I'll be in bed way before midnight! LOL

Whoo Hooo Mthrgoos on the new unmentionables! I had to get all new ones too. The One place I didn't want to lose weight in was one of The first places I lost Lol! And it made the mammo a bit more painful. Oh well it's done and i'm Praying I do Not have to go back until dec 2014!

Happy happy December....love this time of the year.

Goal 135lbs..
So my goal is somewhat to maintain the loss..
I,m sticking with induction foods until Christmas time for sure.

1st December 136lbs had too much bacon yesterday feel bloated today.

Happy happy New year everyone..so sorry to be missing in action but I would not let the month or year end without posting.

31st December, 132 lbs.
Maintained that weight or over two weeks I,m really happy. Will be back posting in January.

Hoping tomorrow weigh in doesn't make me cry. Woke up to a spinning room with nausea that just wouldn't get better. Not sure if I was coming down with something or just extremely low blood sugar. Unfortunately I had 1/2 bowl of Honeycomb and milk then a can of cream of mushroom soup. Whoa, lots of carbs there but it made me feel better so kinda sounds like I was experiencing a deficit of something??? Someone gonna start the January Challenge??
