Ouch Kemp! Be careful! I have suffered with PF for a long time - firstly triggered by hypothyroidism and now mechanically. One thing that did help me alot was having extracorporeal shockwave therapy - and I would highly recommend you see if its available around you. I had four treatments and was pretty much pain free for 6mons (but due to my other mechanical issues, not because it doesn't last). Also try and buy yourself a set of heel cups from Bauerfiend, they are the ones most sports physicians recommend.

Also, use a frozen coke bottle to roll on the floor to lengthen and massage the foot.

You could be retaining water from insufficient salt intake as you are losing quite a bit of salt whilst sweating as you are running. One source I read says to drink some stock before training as you need the salt and it gives you stamina.

I've also read that training first thing (cardio) is the most efficient fat burner. But that weights should be done in the evening as your muscles are up to 30% stronger because the blood/fluid has redistributed throughout the day whilst in the morning, its still in your internal organs and making its way to the extremities.

Thanks Tiggy: I had my right foot done with the shockwave 2 years ago and it worked awesome. It hurt like hell getting it done and it took a while to take affect, but success. My left foot hurt at the time I did the right foot but was not that bad. I could barely walk with the pain in my right foot. I guess now I will have to get the left foot done now. I was hoping it would hold together but I don't know. I am going to do low impact running machine at the gym in the morning instead of a four mile run on pavement to give it another day of rest. I have trained so hard I do not want to give up yet. If it is so bad that I cannot run then back to the stair step machine. Thanks for the advice.

Tiggy: I do it all in the morning because that is when I can do it. But Since I started training in the morning the weight has really started to fall off.

Pc: Nice drop there, glad you are feeling better.

Laura: Was just a blip in the grand scheme of things.

I was not able to run, it just hurt to much. So I did the stair step machine instead at the gym. I still got a great workout and will try and run again on Thursday. I did have a great whoosh back down. Over 3 pounds of water weight came off. So back to where I was on Friday. So have all week to get it done and then another party weekend. I am happy where I am at and if this is my weight when I hit Cayman then so be it. Almost all my linen clothes fit and I will not be the fattest guy on the dive boat this year!!! The stats:

December Goal 225

Dec. 01…240.2(starting the month up 1.4 pounds awesome!!!!)
Dec. 02…238.2 (after a 3 mile run???)
Dec. 03…237.6 (think stall is broken)
Dec. 04…236.0
Dec. 05…235.4
Dec. 06…235.0
Dec. 07…233.0 (whoosh again!!!) so happy
Dec. 08…233.6

Dec. 10…231.6
Dec. 11…231.4

Missy: My prayers go out to your family. I hope he is doing better by now.

Way to go KEMP!! I'm thinking that the drinks gave you a great fuel boost for the whoosh! Even though it took a minute.

Congrats on all the whooshes, nice going to all that have maintained and everyone who is fighting the lbs to drop. Keep you heads up.

I had a busy few days and did not weigh nor stay hydrated well enough. Even though I am bumped up again my clothes are feeling looser and thats all thats good enough for me.

This time around I am not judging ANYTHING on what I have not lost. I am looking for non- scale victorys this time! I know the scale moving downward is hard proof but half the time we are losing inches and staying so focused on the scale that we aren't realizing the true results.

I was suppose to do measurements the other day but I got to busy. Doing those in a bit and seeing where a month will take me.

Everyone have a great day!

Kind of disappointed with 3lbs in first couple weeks. Probably went a little crazy with bacon in the first couple of weeks . Hope everyone is doing well during this dangerous holiday season.

New to the forum, new to atkins. Started induction on the 13th.

Me:
12/13 - 186
12/17 - 179

Hubby:
12/13 - 316
12/17 - 308

Doing well here, enjoying induction and finding some super yummy IF recipes to keep me going. Hubby and I have found a lot of joy preparing meals together, which helps even more -- and are a great support team for each other when the munchie cravings were hitting on day 2 and day 3. I am going to be working on adding exercise into our lifestyle change this week. It seems like it is just so hard to "make" time to exercise :/

Preparing our week 2 menu right now... yummy broiled chicken hindquarters are on the menu tonight!

Happy to be here and excited to meet some people who are on the same journey!

Thanks for the welcome - one of the reasons I searched out this forum was for the accountability (and the wealth of knowledge). Glad to be here!

Thanks for the welcome - and you are ahead of me... I still have some Christmas shopping to do on Thursday and Friday this week. I'm thinking though the 4 people left to shop for may just be getting gift cards... some people are so hard to shop for!

Went to the Post Office-shipped my out-of state Christmas box, and my Mom's 700 pound KitchenAid back. Went to Mom's new place-unpacked all of her kitchen stuff and put it away. Grace and mom dragged all the trash away while I was setting things up. Went to the bank. Went to the liquor store-oh happy day, the Rhum Agricole is back in stock. Went to the dollar store for more tissue paper and gift boxes. Went to Barnes & Noble to get a couple of last gifts. Went to Michael's to get a wine bag. Went to the grocery store to get something for dinner. Prepped dinner and just waiting for it to be done!

I switched my exercising to mornings as of today. DH is grilling up some yummy Sirloins for us, going to have some salad with it. I finished all of my Christmas shopping today except for picking up a gift card. And it's one that I can grab the next time I do big grocery shopping. Ordered a low-carb/sugar free cheesecake from Junior's!

Kemp, the PF suuuuucks! Been there, done that. Not fun and so painful. Hoping for a quick recovery for you!

Christmas drinks???

Well, I guess no more Pina Colada's but I had an idea I'd like to run by you.
I was just thinking what could I drink that would still taste good.

1. Is rum and diet coke okay??
2. What about vodka with water mixed with MIO???

Might sound gross but I like fruity drinks too and thought that might work?? What do you think??
The reason I'm asking is I don't think I'll get thru the season without having a drink with somebody? Ooooh, now I'm craving a Kahlua and milk.. mmm, yum!

Some very nice whooshes here lately! COngrats to all. Those who have lost weight and those sticking with it in spite of stalls or gains.

Kemp, still hoping your heel gets better.

Gypsy - Wow! That was a lot of shopping in one day.

My dad is finally back home, was discharged late this afternoon. All tests came back great. They even said his heart works 'above average'. Don't really know what that means. Both the cardio doc and his doc believe it was his blood pressure med that caused his bp to drop and him to pass out. Thank you everyone for prayers and get well thoughts. I do great in high-stress situations and always somehow find an inner calm. My mom is usually very much the same way, a very strong, positive, somewhat domineering woman who never shows her emotions. Well, I will never forget the look in her eyes at the ER. There were several emotions - fear, loss, a sense of ehr own mortality, not wanted to be left alone. I think that was the worse part of all of it for me. I have never seen my mom so frail-looking. Pops is a stubborn old mule and refuses to believe it was caused by the med. He really thinks he needs a pacemaker - "so if it happens again, it will start my heart back up." None of the doctors believe his heart ever stopped. The EMS team checked him and his bp was way low. But he believes as he believes to the point he made one of the doctors mad enough to just walk off. Oh well, he is home now and that is what counts. They did appease him by giving him an event monitor to wear for 30 days, and some pain meds for his back from where he fell -luckily he didn't hit his head on anything on the way down. The fall itself could have been a lot worse.

Missy, so glad to hear that your father is doing better! My DH had a scary moment at the end of September when his BP dropped (his fighting his BP with a whole host of medications...4 different oral meds, 1 patch that is changed weekly) and he looked like he was having a seizure. He had been fighting a sore throat for a couple of days and not drinking as much because of it. I didn't even think about one of his meds being a diuretic combined with another med. I would have had him hold that. Low BP and dehydration got him a one way trip back to the ER and an overnight stay for fluids and tests. Thankfully he was sitting in his chair when it happened and didn't conk himself on the head when he passed out!

Welcome, Shay! Best of luck to you, thanks for joining us! Can I ask how tall you are?

What is wrong with me that I just can't get motivated!!! I really want this so I have decided once again to start:::hanging head:::: Because I am a hashis girl I lose really really slow so I get discouraged! I have decided that if I really want this no one but me can do this... So in the the words of Pam (see the hypo forum) It's over! I have a goal to be below 180... That's it! I am not going to plan on a certain number... I think I am just going to say below a certain number maybe that will help. I am also as Pam would say a hard core fatty that when I get on the scale I want to reward myself with a treat... Not gonna happen! I will step on the scale 1x a week on Sunday morning! I am so disgusted with the fact that I could quit smoking and quit diet soda but I just can't stick to this! I don't know why! I was really skinny all my life until my thyroid went south and never came back.. I can't look at the past anymore cause that went south also! I am going to need some serious support through Christmas since I am the chief in my house!,, my skinny mini dd has me making cookies for Christmas! I would love a low or no carb option to make for me so I don't feel so frustrated! Dinner will be easy but breakfast well I am cooking for 5 and 1 has to have low fat/cholesterol and me low carb.... And it has to be kid friendly... And suggestions? Sorry this is so long but I am so mad at myself!!!! I started this morning tracking and I just want to make it through today to prove to myself I can do it! I am looking for ideas of brown bag lunches and I would love some vegetarian options to throw in the mix since meat and me .. Well I have not been able to eat too much of it. Please help me just succeed just a little so I can keep my focus! Again I am sorry this is so long. Thank you and have a great day

Morning all and welcome new friends...

Missy:
Sounds like prayers have been answered with your Dad.
Such good news. I have to tell you my Uncle (77) had a mirror episode like your Dad. He was just sitting at the kitchen table one morning and collapsed to the floor. He was sweaty and speaking incoherently. He was rushed to hospital and thru every conceivable test, nothing was found. Even his brain was EEG'd? He was put on a heart monitor for a week and nothing. They found no medical explanation for what happened, not even dehydrating??? He's been fine since but quite a scare for everyone. Best wishes for you and your family.

Shelly No worries, my girl!! It's just all that MSG that's got you up a smidge. A lot of water today will flush it out. Hey, you got a free meal, albeit not an LC meal but not the worst thing. Again, it must be a little disappointment on the scale today but it WILL come off and it's not like you're gonna have another today, right!! Don't be too hard on yourself. Just think of the "hundreds" of good meals you've had so take it easy and best wishes for a good drop in the next few days.
