Hi ... I am also embarrassed but back! I have decided enough is enough I have been yoyoing for the last few years and I saw myself in a thanksgiving picture and decided ENOUGH! I have a small obstacle that I have Hashimotos so I lose really really slow so I would be happy to lose only 5 pounds this month!!! I eat basically paleo as I don't do any dairy and I try to eat organic with veggies but I have decided to kick start and eat strict induction for this month and then add back veggies etc slowly. I have been trying to do this for 5 yrs and I guess just needed to hit rock bottom and that was a shock when I saw myself in that picture!!!

I will do this!

Start weight 180 urgggg December 31 I would like to be 175!

WOW we have a lot of newcomers!!

Kim, you'll find a lot of us here have medical and/or thyroid issues. I have both and many. Staying strict, at least for me, is a must and the only way I can lose weight.

Laura, (answer from other thread) I do meal planning for three weeks out and use an Excel program that when I enter m menu, it will auto create a shopping list. I am actually helping my son gain weight to enlist in the military. He needs to gain 15lbs for entry. For high carb foods cook sweet potatoes, potatoes, pasta, rice and bagels. I don't know why bagels have more carbs than bread, but they do.

kemp, (answer from other thread) sorry about the gain. But as we all say - it will come right back off and is probably water weight.

Well, starting out the same as yesterday - no gain, no loss. I have a two goals for December: 1) NO fast food; 2) Lose 10lbs or drop a size.

12/01 175.4

Good Morning Everyone! I'm down almost a pound today, so 192.4. Really really hoping to get into the 180's! And I can't even believe I'm saying that! Last year at this time I was 300 pounds! I hated the way I felt, I was disgusted with myself, and let's not even talk about how I felt about clothes! It's a complete 180 this year and I'm so excited!

Kemp, I'm sorry about the gain! You KNOW it's water. You're busting your butt working out, and your muscles are retaining water. I know that you KNOW that, but it's still incredibly frustrating. Don't let it throw you.

Laura, so glad to have you back! How was the trip? I don't think it will be too hard to cook for you and John both, especially with all your creativity in the kitchen. I would just cook my regular low carb meal, and then let him add a high carb side dish. Potatoes, rice, or whatever he likes. I have to say, I made a complete low carb feast for Thanksgiving, and I thought about you while I was cooking all day!

Kim, I'm also hypothyroid and stay very very strict. Even with that, I average about 8 pounds per month in loss. So it's not super fast, even with as strict as I am.

Welcome to all our newcomers! It's so great to have so much support and help on our December Challenge!

This is going to be a GREAT month!

Welcome to all the new people! Welcome back to all of the familiar faces! Its a new beginning for all of us so let go of those negative feelings and lets start fresh!

Laura, in response to the other thread. My husband and I eat similar despite that fact I'm LC and he's low fat. He'll eat lean meats, veggies and add in whole wheat breads or potatoes. He also will eat protein bars and shakes as needed throughout the day. He dropped the fat and is now trying to bulk up a little in muscle.

Trinigirl, I keep forgetting to say how awesome that you hit your goal!! Its time for new pictures! WTG!

Kemp, no one wants to see a gain but we know you couldn't put over a pound of fat on in one night. Its water weight that will disappear when you get into beast mode at the gym again.

MissyDee, how awesome of your husband! It must be a great feeling to hear that you're too skinny!

mycattaz, thinking of you and hoping you are feeling better!
1moregin, thinking of you too! You're daily posts were an inspiration!

It's great being back. The trip went smoothly. We're not quite settled in yet but will be soon enough. It's been 2 1/2 years since we were together except for the one trip home. It's been 6 years since we lived together. It's just some adjustments for both of us. I'm looking forward to the challenge of cooking for both of us. We got him some whey shakes to help too. You guys just might get my version of a low carb Thanksgiving. We both missed Turkey day meals so he wants me to make him one. Did I mention he is SPOILED ROTTEN!!!!!

Guess I was up to early and posted on other thread. So I cut and pasted it here for you guys. Was not happy this morning.

Wow!!! After finishing last month strong. Starting the month off with a 1.4 pound gain for no reason. I ran 6 miles yesterday and was negative 3200 in calories yesterday. Should be a pound down not up 1.4. Was going to take the day off from working out seeing as I have gone 13 days in a row without a break from working out. But the body seems to not want to lose any weight. So that is now a 4 day stall officially. So off to the gym. Going to beat this body into submission today. Then do a big run in the am to see if we cant get that scale to moving!!!!!!! I may need to adjust my calorie deficiency to 4000 a day instead of 3200. 3200 does not seem to be doing me any good. Sorry starting the month off on a sour note. Glad it is the start of the month and not the end.

December Goal 229

Nov. 30...238.8
Dec. 01…240.2(starting the month up 1.4 pounds awesome!!!!)

Well nice to see all the new people.

Altcwilson Loveandluck boboelink: Glad to have you all aboard. I know you will have lots of questions so just ask away. We are all very suppportive here.

Gypsy: So sorry to hear about your husband. So glad he is better. Glad you are back with us.

Kylie: We all fall off the wagon. I have many times. Lets just help each other best we can to stay on plan this time for a lot longer. Glad you are here.

Mothergoose: Girlie I am so proud you. Way to go.

Well I am off the ledge now. Went to the gym and worked out for about an hour only burned 550 calories. Do not expect to see any results with that weak workout but it was all weights no cardio. Shoulders and back today. Tomorrow will be a 3 mile run in the morning and then a solid hour plus in the gym after work. Having to go back to double work out days to keep the scale moving in the right direction. Today made 14 days straight of working out, I have no plans on stopping daily workouts only increasing to double workout days 3-4 days a week.

As far as goals go. Well seeing as I may be stalled for the foreseeable future unless I can break through with workouts. 11.2 pounds sounds like a doable goal. I honestly want to lose 20 pounds this month but just do not see it happening with my body refusing to drop the pounds. So am going to get over it and just keep working out and triming up my body. The scale may not show fat moving off my body, but the purple strips every day even when fully hydrated let me know that fat is burning off. I am lowering my fat intake also due to they can sometimes turn the strips purple also. that way I know I am burning only fat on my workouts. Sorry so long winded just have to mentally get rid of that 1.4 pound gain.

Hi all,
I'm a newbie here and would like to join in on the December challenge!
I sarted the Induction phase of Atkins last Sunday the 24th and have dropped 6.2 lbs. by the end of my first week! Even through 2 different family Thanksgiving gatherings I was able to stick to it (I brought my own salad, ate the turkey and avoided the dessert bars). I am feeling better this week than I have in a very long time and that is a huge motivator for me. I'm just so tired of being sick and tired all the time! I'm hoping to drop another 4-5 lb. by the end of my second week.
Well wishes and good luck to every one out there controlling their carb intake and doing their best to avoid all the tempting food of the holiday season. It helps to know there are others out there like me going through the same challenges!

Thanks for the welcome!
I'd like to get some feedback on some of your opinions on eating bacon and sausage. I know that bacon is ususally cured w/ sugar and sausage usually will have fillers...but do y'all think it's enough to really matter? I do like bacon and eggs for breakfast, but would appreciate some advice from some of you who have been LCing for a while.

I eat bacon very often. I just get the best quality bacon I can find, and that's good. The sodium sometimes makes me retain water, but I don't find that it throws me out of ketosis.

I eat bacon like crazy. Mothergoose is right just get a quality bacon. I actually eat kroger brand thick cut pepper bacon. About a pound and a half a week of that stuff and I still lose a little weight here and there and stay in ketosis. Keep asking questions we do not mind at all. Sausage is a read the label kinda of product. I eat sausage all the time. Like chappell Hill and tennesse pride. They say zero on the label so that is why I buy them. Good luck

make sure your bacon is hardwood smoked not sugar cured. That helps out too. The guys at work just can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that I eat bacon and lose weight.

Welcome to all the new people. Glad you joined us.

12/1 - 190.0

seems I've seen this number before...

Today is in the books. Started out mad and finished happy. Did the workout this morning, followed by 5 hours of up and down a extension ladder hanging Christmas lights all afternoon. That should get thing moving I hope. My fitbit said I burned about 4062 total today so far and I still have to cook dinner. I am pooped. Waiting on the DW to get home with the meat so I can fire up the grill and cook meat for the week!!! Glad I have you guys to keep me focused and on plan.

Yeah kemp is our most weight loss 'loser' - here and there

Froggie, it is all in the labels. Read them and you will know which are right and which are filled with other stuff. Any meat product if it has carbs on the label, it has fillers. I also eat bacon and or sausage every day with my eggs. Welcome to the board and keep the questions coming.

My mother would be rolling her eyes at me.... I didn't clean my plate. On the other hand the lil boys and lil girl house guest are thrilled! I really had to sit here and have that internal debate that I didn't have to eat it all.

Hi all,

I'd like to join in. My goal for Dec is -8lbs. I'm 5ft (barely) and at 116.2 today. Closer to the tail end of the weight loss journey so it's getting harder a bit. Doing tons of walking.

Shelly, I hope you get to subbing soon! I was starving yesterday too. I wonder if the colder weather has something to do with it?

Bonny-Jean, no loss is better than a gain!
