Wow MissG, you had one heck of a whoosh! Good for you!

It is scary how often I check to see if anyone's posted on the boards. Even just reading through the struggles and the triumphs helps keep me on track (even if I need to whine a bit now and again)!

Biggest Loser............

Well, I didn't win the challenge at work. Had I not started 3 wks ahead, I would have won with 30 lbs. Darn!! Oh well, I have a bigger challenge ahead. Anyway, wanted to ask why my losses have slowed to about one pound per week?? Exercise aside, I have lost about 34% of my goal but I've only been at this 12 weeks. Isn't it a little early for a stall or something like that?? I don't seem to eat much but I eat when hungry and till full.

B: 1 coffee, 1 splenda, 2 hwc then 8 c. water

L: 1 c. lettuce, 1 egg, crumbled bacon, 2 tbsp Ranch

s: 3-4 back ribs, spices or 7-8 oz pork or beef steak.

I hope it's not the amount of food cause I really can't eat more?? Not sure what the problem is??

I find that I have to shake things up every now and then. It took me 2 1/2 months to get out of the 190s and I did it by decreasing the amount of protein that I was eating. Even though it was the same amount of protein that I had been eating previously when I got good losses. There were also times when I decreased my veggies and then times when I added more veggies. Anything that tricks the body would work if you feel you need to do something. I think your menu looks good though.

MissG - WOnderful Whoosh! WTG!

Bonny, I think we all have the slow downs or stalls. For me I think it is the body redistributing and resting. I too shake it up and go to a strict induction or increase fat when I notice more than two days at the same weight. I don't know if it helps, but it makes me feel better doing something.

From what you posted, if it were me I would increase fat - more HWC or add in lc gravy instead of ranch. I eat similar to what you posted excluding the ranch and still have those days where the scale just doesn't move. Sometimes I think losing weight is totally against what our bodies want to do. They are used to storing fat for use later. So giving it up is like pulling a tooth without any pain med.

I don't think I could eat less protein or I'd starve!! That little bit of meat is the only thing that holds me all night. I'm guessing I'm around 7-800 calories a day with maybe 10 or less carbs so I'm thinking without much exercise I should still be looking at 2 lbs a week. Hmm, I don't eat the salad (if you can call it that) everyday so sometimes I'll have 3 scrambled eggs with a sprinkling of green onion but that's it. Well, hopefully I can get moving and things will get better. Everytime I go to buy coconut oil, the damn shelf is empty. A small tub is $17+ at our big supermarket. Whoa!!

Hi Everyone! Wow, I miss so much when I'm not here on Mondays!!

BonnyJean, I'm finding that it took me a full week to move down one pound too. Of course, I've been doing this for almost 10 months, but I still have quite a bit to lose, so I was hoping for it not to be so slow yet. It seems like this has happened to me several times over the last 10 months, and it doesn't really seem to matter whether I try and shake things up or not. Eventually I'll start losing at a good pace again, whether I change anything or not.

Just to add my two cents to the conversations that I missed from yesterday~ I'm also 5'3". At that height, 150 is still considered to be overweight, but I feel like it will be a good weight for me. I'll never be SKINNY, but I think I'll be fine at 150. I will have lost half my body weight by that point, and I'll be dealing with the issue of carrying around a lot of extra skin too, so that will be part of my weight, but there's not much I can do about it.

For ME, I don't want to indulge in just one bite for a couple of reasons. For one thing, I'm worried about stopping at just one bite. I haven't put it to the test, but I don't want to do anything that might possibly derail me. Also, with so much to lose, this is such a LONG journey for me that I don't want to set myself back even a day or two. I know that having a couple of bites here and there would slow my losses, and I don't want to lose ANY time with getting to my goal. As it is, it's going to take me over a year to get there. BUT that's just what works for ME. I firmly believe it's about each person finding what works for THEM. My BF has lost 60 pounds, and he does take cheat days or cheat meals when we're out of town, or out to eat with friends. It doesn't derail him, and he doesn't mind losing a few days. It's all about what works for you on your own personal journey.

And I ABSOLUTELY rely on all of you here to keep me on track and keep my head in the game on this journey!

Bonny, if you have only been eating 7-800 calories a day that is a red flag for me. That does not sound like enough. Maybe it is, just my opnion. I know you said you eat a lot now. Do what Missy said and eat more fat to up calories.

I thought that was crazy when I heard upping calories helps lose weight but it does. I use to only do 1200 calories a day, Now 1800-2200 a day and it is falling off. And yes I do work out. But I worked out at the lower calories and would stall often. Now this go round I have upped the calories and have only had on little stall. Hope I did not jinx myself!!!!!!!! But I do expect to see a loss every day if not one day the same then the next a whoosh. That is the way it has been going.

OH! I almost forgot!! You know I spend my day off on Monday in the kitchen cooking up our food for the week, and I made the YUMMIEST snack yesterday. Fried cheese sticks. Honest to goodness, they tasted just like what you would get when you order an appetizer in a restaurant. They were amazing! They were a little bit of a splurge for me because I usually only eat mozzarella cheese, I usually only eat extra sharp cheddar, but they were still 100% on plan. So great!!

Sounds good Shelly!!! It's FREEZING here, but no snow or ice, so my BF does continue to brave the cold to grill for us! LOL

To make the cheese sticks, I just took the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, cut them in half, so that they were shorter. Then I dip them in eggs, then I dip them in Parmesan Cheese that had some garlic salt and Italian spices mixed in. Then dip them in the egg again and the parmesan cheese mix again. Then I pat the mix on them nice and tightly. Set them in the freezer for a couple of hours. This is really important. If you don't do this step, the cheese will melt when you cook them before they crisp up. Take them out of the freezer and cook them in REALLY HOT olive oil. I used a smaller pan, and made the oil fairly deep. Just turn them over as they brown up. They should get nice and crispy on the outside.

I found this recipe somewhere on the internet, but I don't remember where. But they were seriously so good.

I didn't mean for you to drop your protein levels. That's just something that I had to do as an example. I agree with everyone else especially Kemp. I'd up my calories in the form of fat. I hear so many people say that they just don't feel like eating more, but the fat doesn't leave you feeling uncomfortable. I swear by fat bombs other people avoid them. But it can't hurt to try!

I am Missy. On the strict induction that is what I do because some days I eat around 1200 cals and up to 10 carbs. Induction days I am at 0 carbs and around 500-600cals. My suggestion for you was to up your fat because you are already doing low calories and induction. To up your fat use more HWC, mayo, or lc gravy. The gravy I make by frying up bacon or sausage - leave the grease and all in the pan, add in 2cups chicken broth and 1cup hwc. Simmer for a few more minutes, let cool and then I put it in old spaghetti jar in the fridge. I use it as I would salad dressing or just cover my meat with it and some shredded cheese. It really ups the fat

BJ:

Last month I was eating pretty low fat, this month, bring on the fats! I'm also on my water weight dump phase from TOM, but I am hoping the trend continues.

B: coffee, 2 splenda, 2 tbs HWC, dash of cinnamon 1 tsp butter. Someone told me somewhere to add this is to my coffee, so I started trying it. It taste WAY BETTER than it sounds! + 2 strips lower sodium bacon pan fried.

L and D: Grilled, broiled, or pan fried beef ribeye (eat half for lunch, eat half later for dinner) seasonings: salt, pepper, liquid smoke, garlic, and just a little low sodium Worcestershire sauce. With either broccoli, or spinach, or mustard greens sauteed in butter with salt and pepper for a side. The steakks I have are well marbled, so lots of crispy fat omg so good >.< They are about 10-12 oz so 5-6 oz when I split it.

Snack:
Either 1.) decaf coffee, 2 splenda, 2 tbs HWC, dash of cinnamon 1 tsp butter.
2.) Hot cocoa (8oz water + 2 tsp cocoa powder, 2 packets splends, 2 TBS HWC, 1tsp butter, and dash cinnamon)
3.) Sharp cheddar, or mozzarella cheese.

Last month was baked chicken instead of beef, a boiled egg in the morning instead of bacon, no butter to the coffee or hot drinks, and cheese was making me slow down so I abandoned it. This month cheese seems to be ok, so far. So just keeping that around 3 oz.

I also am exercising on my recumbent bike ever other day for at least 30 mins on the max resistance setting. This month I also added in the following before my bike exercise: 100 crunches, lady pushups at 20.

Missy

Sorry, I don't ever remember seeing you as Missy. Well, now I know. Thanks for that. I actually have increased my hwc as I've gone from water at night to coffee. Strange as it sounds when I stopped drinking 6 glasses of water at night, my leg cramps stopped. Perhaps I was flushing too much out of my system. Not sure I can do the LC gravy but thank you. Is mayo the same thing as Miracle Whip? I think I have a memory of not liking mayo. What do you put mayo on other than a sandwich??
Thanks for your help, appreciated.

Our menus aren't that far apart and I have heard of butter in coffee. Hmm, might try that. You're eating more protein than me but you're working out and I'm not so maybe that's it?? One day I'll get off my butt but you sure have some good numbers to post. You're doing great. KUTGW!!

Bonny Jean, Miracle Whip is not the same as mayo. I love miracle whip, but it has added stuff to it so I can't use it. You want to stick to mayo. I use mayo to make egg salads and tuna salads. I mix a lot of mustard into my egg salad too and it gives it a different flavor. Once in a while, I'll mix some avocado, cheese, bacon and mayo together and make a little salad of it. It's really really good!

Another day in the books. Have not sat down all day except my drive to work one hour each way. 4 miles this morning and up an down a ladder for the last 3 hours doing more lights. I was so happy with the loss this morning, hope it sticks. Would not even be mad if I had a bounce in the morning. I have a arm and ab work out at 445 am tomorrow, man that is getting old quickly. By 930 I am whipped. Anyway glad everyone is doing great.

Thanks Guys. Sorry been so busy and not posting like normal. I will try and keep up better.

Ava: You are having a great month.

Mothergoose:Thanks I am really reaching for the stars this month on pounds loss. I cannot wait till after the marathon so I can just relax and lose weight at a much slower pace, and being able to eat more veggies and even some HWC.

You guys are the best. We will really need each other as the month closes out. Stay strong y'all.
